Kenya to close massive refugee camps! Will we be expected to take more?

You betcha!

dadaab cholera
Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya. Photo is from a story about a cholera outbreak there late last year. http://crofsblogs.typepad.com/h5n1/2015/12/msf-cholera-outbreak-spreads-to-dadaab-refugee-camp.html

A very large number of the Somali refugees arriving in the US come from camps, like Dadaab, in Kenya.  If Kenya goes through with closing the camps this time (they threatened it a year ago, but they look more serious now), you can bet we will be expected to take even more!
We are taking Somalis at the rate of 750 a month right now, see here.
Before you read the story, visit the State Department Data base here and then click on this:

You will see that Kenya is our second highest processing country.  We don’t take Kenyans so surely most of these are Somalis from camps there.  The top three processing sites in the world all involve Muslim ‘refugees.’
The numbers in parenthesis are those we admitted to the US from those locations in 7 months:

Malaysia (4,694)

Kenya (3,280)

Turkey (2,692)

From Deutsche Welle (I don’t blame Kenya one bit!):

The Kenyan government has announced the closure of two refugee camps, including one of the world’s biggest, citing financial challenges and a lack of security. Rights groups have condemned the closure plan.

On Friday, Kenyan authorities said the camps were having an adverse affect on the country’s economy. Officials said the international community should take responsibility for the humanitarian needs of the refugees.

Kenya has hosted refugees for nearly 25 years, with a number of its neighboring East African countries facing protracted civil wars.

The government also disbanded the Department of Refugee Affairs, which worked with humanitarian organizations for the welfare of the refugees.

“The government of the Republic of Kenya, having taken into consideration its national security interests, has decided that hosting of refugees has to come to an end,” said a statement released by Interior Ministry official Karanja Kibicho.

[….]

The camps that will be shut down are Daadab and Kakuma. There are more than 328,000 refugees in the Daadab refugee camp in eastern Kenya – mostly the Somali refugees escaping an al-Shabab-led Islamist insurgency in their country. The Kakuma camp hosts 190,000 refugees, mostly from South Sudan.

The article goes on to say that rights activists think Kenya should integrate these hundreds of thousands of Somalis etc.  Well, gee, what would happen to Kenya and Kenyans then? Kenya would turn into an expansion of Somalia!
Finally, you should know that the Somali government is encouraging the return of Somalis to rebuild their country, here.  It just isn’t fast enough for the Kenyans!

Tiny Nebraska town says no to chicken plant (migrant labor one important objection)

As reader Bob said in his subject line when he sent me this news a few minutes ago: “Great story!”

Nickerson,_Nebraska_downtown_1
Downtown Nickerson, Nebraska! I’m adding this town to my summer fact-finding tour for sure!

We have been reporting for years about how small towns throughout America’s heartland are being changed forever when meatpacking plants bring in transient migrant labor (and large numbers of refugees!) to work the low-skilled, low-paying jobs these meat giants pay. (I’m told that meatpacking once paid well before they discovered, first illegal immigrant labor, and now refugee labor.)
Three cheers for the citizens of Nickerson, Nebraska who sent the chicken processing plant and its plans packing!
From the Associated Press:

NICKERSON, Neb. (AP) — Half-ton pickup trucks crowd the curb outside the One Horse Saloon, a neon Coors Light sign in the window and rib-eye steaks on the menu, but otherwise Nickerson, Nebraska, is nearly silent on a spring evening, with only rumbling freight trains interrupting bird songs.

Regional economic development officials thought it was the perfect spot for a chicken processing plant that would liven up the 400-person town with 1,100 jobs, more than it had ever seen. When plans leaked out, though, there was no celebration, only furious opposition that culminated in residents packing the fire hall to complain the roads couldn’t handle the truck traffic, the stench from the plant would be unbearable and immigrants and out-of-towners would flood the area, overwhelming schools and changing the town’s character.

Nickerson Neb. map
Nickerson is close to the border of Iowa.

“Everyone was against it,” said Jackie Ladd, who has lived there for more than 30 years. “How many jobs would it mean for people here? Not many.”

The village board unanimously voted against the proposed $300 million plant, and two weeks later, the company said they’d take their plant — and money — elsewhere.

[….]

Nickerson fought against Georgia-based Lincoln Premium Poultry***, which wanted to process 1.6 million chickens a week for warehouse chain Costco. It was a similar story in Turlock, California, which turned down a hog-processing plant last fall, and Port Arthur, Texas, where residents last week stopped a meat processing plant. There also were complaints this month about a huge hog processing plant planned in Mason City, Iowa, but the project has moved ahead.

[….]

The question of who would work the tough jobs was at the forefront of the debate, though many were adamant they aren’t anti-immigrant. Opposition leader Randy Ruppert even announced: “This is not about race. This is not about religion.”

But both were raised at the raucous April 4 meeting where the local board rejected the plant. One speaker said he’d toured a chicken processing plant elsewhere and felt nervous because most of the workers were minorities.

No to Somalis!

More overtly, John Wiegert, from nearby Fremont where two meat processors employ many immigrants, questioned whether Nickerson’s plant would attract legal immigrants from Somalia — more than 1,000 of whom have moved to other Nebraska cities for similar jobs, along with people from Mexico, Central America and Southeast Asia.

The story reminds me to ask the BIG MEAT headhunters at the US State Department this:
You are admitting over 700 Somalis a month to the US right now and then we have news from places like Minnesota (which you have overloaded with Somalis) where Somalis working in manufacturing are demanding sharia-compliance in the workplace.  Why would anyone in their right mind continue to hire Somalis and risk a lawsuit? And, why would any little town where citizens obviously are reading alternative media (like RRW!), want that for their town? And, so why do you let the UN continue sending them to America?
*** No time to research more now, but this company is part of Crider Foods with a history of using illegal immigrant labor. I’ll bet a buck that the owners are big donors to certain elected officials (a project for another day!).

MN: CAIR filing another employment discrimination case involving Somalis and prayer breaks

This one involves a manufacturer of door and window hardware (not meatpacking for a change).  For the life of me, I don’t know why these manufacturers keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome—hire Muslims then end up in legal hot water over prayer break times.
And, if you don’t know what this is….this is creeping shariah!

Jaylani
CAIR-MN director Jaylani Hussein: 50% of our work now involves suing employers for discriminating against Muslims. See what ‘Minnesota nice’ gets you!

Owatonna is a little town of 25,000 or so in the southeast corner of the state within easy driving distance of the two big hubs of Somali refugee resettlement—-Minneapolis and Rochester.  However, Owatonna is a direct resettlement site too, see here.
I love the irony! Be sure to see Owatonna embraces its Somalis!
From the Minneapolis Star Tribune two days ago:

Nearly two dozen Muslim Somali-Americans are filing discrimination charges with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity against hardware maker AmesburyTruth and Doherty Staffing Solutions.

The fired workers said they were denied a place to pray at an Owatonna, Minn., manufacturing plant and lost their jobs for trying to practice their religion.

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is leading the effort on behalf of 21 former workers who were terminated in May and June 2015.

Owatonna, MN Main Street. They are changing America by changing the people!

[….]

Followers of Islam pray five times each day — at daybreak, midday, afternoon, sunset and at night. Before prayer, Muslims are required to wash their faces, hands and feet with clean water, which normally is performed in a restroom sink.

AmesburyTruth is headquartered in Edina and makes hardware for doors and windows, weatherstrips and extrusions. The company has about 2,000 employees at 11 locations around the country.

The Owatonna plant employs about 800 workers and specializes in making windows, hinges, locks and other hardware used in casement windows.

[….]

CAIR-MN’s civil rights director Amarita Singh underscored that Muslim employees have the constitutional right to have employers accommodate their religious practices.

[….]

Jaylani Hussein, CAIR-MN’s executive director, said more than 50 percent of the organization’s casework now comes from these types of workers’ rights cases, though many are resolved without needing to involve the courts.

Gee, I wonder why?

Nationwide, anti-Muslim sentiment has risen dramatically in the past year, sparking protests and anti-refugee legislation in Idaho, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas and elsewhere, said Stephen Piggott of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit focused on civil rights.

More here at the Star Tribune.
Search Somalis Minnesota here at RRW and it will keep you busy reading posts for hours! But, don’t miss this one (10,000 Somalis to MN in ten years!).
Addendum:  I’ve gotta try to remember to always add the latest Somali numbers—right now we are admitting them at the rate of 750 per month, see here.

North Dakota: Somali sexual assault case delayed, waiting for mental health report

Readers, I apologize, I am so behind. I especially apologize to all who are sending me great story ideas.  There are dozens and dozens of them that I could post, but not enough hours in the day.  This morning I spent way too much time telling the story of my attendance at a Trump rally, here, so am going to try really hard now to post a lot of my refugee backlog quickly (Ha! famous last words).

ND rapist
Abdulrahman Ibrahim Ali

Since we have been mentioning the Dakotas recently (South Dakota, here) this story about a possibly mentally impaired Somali caught my attention.
We hear about thorough screening all the time, are they screening out the mentally ‘challenged?’  Apparently not!
From Inforum.com news:

FARGO – A Fargo man charged late last year with sexually assaulting a Mapleton store clerk appeared Wednesday, April 13, in Cass County District Court, but his case appears to be stalled for now as attorneys wait for a mental health exam.

Abdulrahman Ibrahim Ali, 36, faces charges of gross sexual imposition, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and terrorizing stemming from an incident in December at Gordy’s Travel Plaza in Mapleton. The most serious charge, Class AA felony gross sexual imposition, could carry a lifetime prison term if Ali were convicted.

According to this report, he told the victim as he assaulted her that she was his “wife.”  Was he nuts or behaving in a manner consistent with Islamic teaching by proclaiming that she was his wife and therefore he could do this to her—allegedly beat her and sexually assault her.

Brandborg (Ali’s attorney) did not specify what he was waiting for, but Judge Tom Olson in January ordered a mental health evaluation for Ali, who communicated in court Wednesday through an interpreter.

At one point Wednesday, Ali said he was having problems at the Cass County Jail and that he was taking medication but was not sleeping. [Note to local and state taxpayers—you are footing the bill for refugee criminals, not the US State Department or the contractors that send them to your towns.—ed]

Mental evaluations are used in criminal cases to assess whether a defendant is unable to assist in his own defense or was mentally ill or deficient at the time of the alleged crime. Either situation can prevent a defendant from standing trial.

Ali’s family has said he suffers from biploar disorder and that minor criminal charges against him in Ohio and Minnesota were dismissed on mental illness grounds.

Buffalo, NY: Something fishy in Somali tale of woe

It is not surprising that as the New York primary approaches this week, that left-leaning media will find stories about how Republicans Trump and Cruz are ‘Islamophobes’ and how Muslims are gravitating to Sanders and Clinton.  However, you would think a reporter could find a more credible sob story than that of Aden Ali.
Here is what Aden Ali told a reporter for the Buffalo News:

Aden Ali of Buffalo has a lot riding on the outcome of the presidential election. The Somali immigrant has a wife and two children in Kenya, awaiting clearance to join him here.

US-map-Somali refugees
Buffalo has received the third highest number of Somalis in the last year after Minneapolis, MN and Columbus, OH. http://mobile.wnd.com/2016/03/somali-refugee-influx-continues-unabated/

But Donald Trump says he wants to block Muslim refugees from entering the United States, and Ali, who is Muslim, worries about the possibility if Trump is elected president.

“If he wins the presidency, how are my wife and kids going to come to this country?” said Ali, who works as a machine operator at a local chocolate maker.

[….]

Ali arrived in the United States as a refugee 15 years ago and is now a naturalized citizen and eligible to vote.

The story of Mrs. Ali and the children back in Kenya is suspicious!

So, we are expected to believe that Ali left a wife 15 years ago and still can’t get her in to the US, as he is now a US citizen to boot? And, the “children” would have to be grown men/women in these 15 years.
Are we expected to believe that our US Refugee Admissions Program left a wife and children behind and admitted this single man—15 years ago—while the US State Department has admitted over 87,000 other Somalis in those 15 years?  What, no room for Mrs. Ali and the little ones?
Or, is this a case where Ali traveled SAFELY back to East Africa and ‘found’ a wife in subsequent years?  It is happening that, supposedly persecuted and in danger, ‘refugees’ travel back to their home country to find wives which of course begs the question—in how much danger were they in the first place?
And, there is one more possibility—maybe there is no Mrs. Ali in Kenya!
Do these left-leaning reporters ever bother to ask more questions when they find those they make the poster-immigrants for their stories?
Remember readers, it is all about the heart wrenching ‘stories’ for this breed of reporter—facts be damned!
