Somalis in Norway: demanding and reluctant to work

We just told you about Denmark a few minutes ago, now here is more news from Scandinavia….

Willing to protest though! http://www.biyokulule.com/view_content.php?articleid=1023

From The Foreigner:

A growing number of Somali immigrants are feeling humiliated by The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV), a new report shows.

Independent research foundation Fafo’s study (in Norwegian) NAV’s treatment of this group has a negative effect on their trust in institutions and experience of inclusive Norwegian citizenship.

NAV employees have explained that the major problem of getting Somalis into the job market is their lack of education and language skills.

According to some NAV workers, Somali immigrants are particularly demanding and reluctant compared to other groups.

“Many Somalis are lacking very basic training in the form of language, for example. Therefore, they feel that NAVs more work-oriented initiatives are worthless,” Fafo researcher John Horgen Friberg told NRK.

Holy cow!  Norway has taken in 33,000 Somalis!

State collapse and civil war has led to that many Somalis lack basic education. It has also worked to diminish their trust in governmental institutions.

This collapse of the Somali state in 1991 led an influx of Somali immigrants to Norway. Some 33,000 emigrated to the Scandinavian country between 1990 to 2013.

Of course it is all the fault of the government agency!  You might want to revisit a post we wrote in December 2013 about a report George Soros Open Society produced on Somalis not adjusting in Norway (all the government’s fault too).

Fiscal year 2014 wrap-up: Top nationalities admitted to US; top resettlement states

If you are following the refugee resettlement program closely you should occasionally visit the Refugee Processing Center for the data the US State Department is willing to allow the public to see.

They have taken away from public view one data table that we previously found interesting and that was the information on which nationalities were resettled in which city.  That was very useful and they surely still track those numbers but are only available to special people who have a pass code to get in.  Likewise they track the religions of refugees but again only friends of the refugee program are allowed to see those.

Before I get to those useful tables that you can still access, I noticed one more way to keep you in the dark.  One table that you might think would be useful and which I initially directed readers to in my previous post (removed now) is one in which it lists which refugees went to which state, BUT, on closer examination, it is useless!  Why?  Because it only shows the processing country and the US state to which the refugee was resettled.  Processing countries are virtually meaningless!

We don’t process refugees directly from Somalia yet we took in 9,000 Somalis in FY 2014 from all over the world apparently.  If you do look at that data table, check out Minnesota to see what I mean—they list no Somalis going to MN last year (2014), but we know they did (see data table from Minnesota listing 977 Somalis arriving there as of August 31), we just don’t know how many were processed in Kenya, in Malta, in Thailand etc.

Go here for all the data tables available to the public, some updated for September 30th, and some, as of this writing, only updated to August 31.  Don’t delay because these soon disappear down a black hole.

Somalis move up to the number three slot for the most number of refugees we resettled in FY2014.

(See all of the numbers for Somali resettlement we have compiled over the last 30 years, here).

Top five nationalities of refugees resettled in US in FY 2014 (from this map):

1)  Iraq (19,769) the largest percentage will be Muslim

2)  Burma (14,598)  most will be Christians, other minority religions and some Muslims (update: a larger number than I originally assumed)

3)  Somalia (9,000) Muslims  (almost up to George Bush levels!)

4)  Bhutan/Nepal (8,434) most will be Hindu, Buddhist, a few Christians

5)  D.R. Congo (4,540) mostly Christians (update: some Muslims among them)

Remember we learned the other day that the Bhutan resettlement would soon end and be replaced by Syrian refugees who will be majority Muslim.

Top ten states receiving refugees in FY 2014 (I took these off the map so check it for me!):

1)  Texas (7,211)

2)  California (6,110)

3)  New York (4,079)

4)  Michigan (4,000)

5)  Florida (3,519)

6)  Arizona (2,963)

7)  Ohio (2,812)

8)  Pennsylvania (2,743)

9)  Georgia (2,693)

10)  Illinois (2,578)

North Carolina and Washington state are not far behind.

We have archived this information in two categories here at RRW:  Refugee Statistics and Where to find information.

Just a reminder to states (like Wyoming!) and cities which will “welcome” refugees in FY2015, you will not get refugees just from certain countries, but will get a smattering from a wide variety of countries which will make it even more difficult to deal with the language problems in the schools, the health department and the criminal justice system.   See the language stats by going here and clicking on ‘top ten languages.’

Culture of domestic violence comes to Lewiston, Maine along with African asylum seekers

Somali community organizer, Fatuma Hussein, quoted in the Lewiston abuse story, lobbies for more welfare for Maine migrants earlier this year. http://bangordailynews.com/2014/05/23/politics/maine-attorney-general-rejects-proposal-by-lepage-administration-to-bar-general-assistance-for-immigrants/

A pregnant Angolan asylum seeker was run down and killed on a Lewiston street last week by her angry ex-fiance and so this story is all about how African women should speak up so that the police can protect them from the cultural norms they brought with them from Africa.

Frankly I am sick of stories about cultural conflicts and problems in Lewiston, Maine, the ‘Little Mogadishu’ of the Northeast.  So check it out yourselves (Portland Press Herald) titled:

Domestic violence often kept hidden by Maine immigrants, refugees

I don’t think the debate should be about how African women should speak up, it should be about why we are inviting so many to the US from cultures that are so diametrically opposed to our culture in respect to women’s rights (and a whole lot of other things).

See also Maine election year battle over welfare for asylum seekers.  And, one of our recent top posts, ISIS fighter had ties to Lewiston.

By the way, Maine has become the go-to state for asylum seekers because the state gives welfare to them while the feds only give welfare to successful asylum seekers who have been granted asylum and been declared a “refugee.”   Many of Maine’s would-be refugees arrive in the US illegally or overstay a visa, head to Maine, and then apply for asylum claiming they will be persecuted if sent home.

Minnesota Somalis attempt to explain why their community is so attractive to terror recruiters

Update: It isn’t just Somalis in Minnesota, but apparently UK Somalis don’t feel they have enough taxpayer-funded goodies either as two teenaged Somali girls run off to join ISIS.

Powerline blog titles its post—Somalis say: Show us the Money—and then blogger Scott Johnson analyzed a couple of recent news articles where local Somali leaders say they need more night basketball.  Just kidding on the basketball thing, but do your remember Clinton pushing taxpayer funded basketball as a way to solve the crime crisis in black communities—in other words it was all about stuff, about more “programs”.

Somali activist Ilhan Omar: Officials must invest in anti-recruitment programs for Somali youths. We told you about community organizer Omar back in February. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/02/19/somalis-want-to-govern-minneapolis-but-is-this-how-to-gain-the-confidence-of-the-electorate/

They don’t have enough to entertain the youths so the youths take up with Al-Shabaab or ISIS to while away the time.

Here is how Johnson begins his post and suggests maybe we should put a halt to all Somali immigration (refugee resettlement which is how most are getting in here).   Johnson is just thinking too logically!

We’ve got a problem in the Twin Cities that is based in our large and still growing population of Somali immigrants. Somalis have been immigrating to Minnesota for more than twenty years now. They have taken advantage of all the services that our state and local institutions offer. They have been welcomed with open arms, in Minnesota’s characteristic style.

Yet Minnesota’s Somali community — a/k/a “Minnesotans” — is the most fertile ground in the United States for the recruitment of terrorists by foreign terrorist organizations in Africa and the Middle East. We are concerned that they may choose to return “home” to Minnesota if they don’t get killed first. What is to be done?

Aside from monitoring imams and mosques, the first thought that occurs to me is freezing Somali immigration to the United States. I think this would give us the opportunity to get a handle on the problem while assuring that we don’t needlessly aggravate it.

[….]

In short, I take it from the two articles devoted to the forum that we don’t have a clue and that nothing useful is going to be done.

Read it all.   I am so glad to see that other bloggers and the media in general are beginning to report on this lunacy.

Of course the US State Department did slow the flow of Somalis to America back in 2008 when they discovered that tens of thousands got in here fraudulently, but the resettlement now is going full steam ahead.  The feds and the contractors have too much money at stake in the resettlement process, not to mention the fact that they are cowards!

As of August 31st (11 months into the 2014 fiscal year) we have allowed 8,278 Somalis into the US through refugee resettlement.  That is approaching the large numbers we saw in three consecutive years under George W. Bush, here.

Minnesota got 977 of the 8,278 Somalis resettled in 11 months of fy2014 (here).

US agrees to take MORE of Malta’s illegal aliens!

Why is this in our national interest?

This is insane!  Illegal aliens (mostly Somalis) arrive on the island nation of Malta and we transform them into legitimate refugees and fly them to America!

We have been following this perversion of the refugee program for years (longer than the 5 years mentioned in this short article—the Bush Administration started this!).  These illegal migrants are the European Union’s problem, not ours!

Will Europe reciprocate and take some of our illegal Mexicans—NO!

And, by doing this we actually encourage more illegals to try to get to Malta.

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil with US Department of State officials. WHO ARE THESE WOMEN REPRESENTING THE US STATE DEPT? Photo: Malta Today

From Malta Today:

The United States will continue resettling irregular immigrants who arrive in Malta within their nation. The news follows a meeting between Opposition leader Simon Busuttil and American Department of State officials.

“Every year, the US accepts around 70,000 refugees from around the world and for the past five years it has also started taking in 500 refugees a year from Malta.”

“With its gesture, the United States is acting as an example to other countries,” Busuttil said. “As Opposition, we hope that it’s a gesture that will encourage European countries to help lift the weight of immigration off Malta through a system that observes the dignity and rights of all the concerned people and countries.”

We have written more than 50 posts (extending back to 2007) on the US State Department’s outrageous departure from the norm of international refugee resettlement.  Can we now expect the US to take some of the illegal Muslim migrants from the UK, Italy, France etc?

Click here for our extensive Malta archive.  Want to write a book—your research is done!

See also our ‘Invasion of Europe’ series.

Addendum:  Go here and see that we actually took 531 illegal aliens from Malta in the last 11 months. I suspect these are mostly single men.
