Toronto Catholic leader: We won’t request Christian Syrians for resettlement first to Canada

….. we support taking “vulnerable” Muslims!

As Canadian readers know, your government recently came under fire by the UN and the elements of the worldwide ‘humanitarian industrial complex’ for saying Canada would prioritize Syrian resettlement by selecting Christians and other persecuted minorities as a first priority.

Consumed by political correctness?

The “furious” Martin Mark, Executive Director of the Archdiocese of Toronto would never ask the Canadian government to protect Christians first! Photo: http://www.thestar.com/news/atkinsonseries/2014/09/22/delay_delay_delay.html

In all the years we have followed the refugee program in the US, we have never seen any of the so-called ‘religious’ charities which are also resettlement contractors*** ever say they were concerned first for the Christians of the Middle East.

Now comes a very definitive statement by the Executive Director of the Archdiocese of Toronto confirming that the Roman Catholic Church indeed does not place Christians first in their concerns.  They call it refugee “discrimination!”

From the Western Catholic Reporter:

Religion should never be used to prioritize Syrian refugees for resettlement, said Catholic agencies amid reports that the Canadian government intends to give preferential treatment to religious minorities.

The CBC and Post Media both reported that the government intends to accept into Canada only Syrian refugees who face religious persecution.

Quoting sources inside a United Nations High Commission for Refugees pledging conference in Geneva, the media outlets claimed Canada clashed with the UNHCR over the government’s intended policy.

Neither the Canadian churches that privately sponsor refugees nor Syrian Christians themselves have asked the government to give special treatment to religious minorities.

In question period Dec. 12, Costas Menegakis, parliamentary secretary to Immigration Minister Chris Alexander, refused to say if the government intended to limit the resettlement program based on religion.

“We will prioritize persecuted ethnic and religious minorities, those at demonstrated risk, and we will make no apologies for that,” said Menegakis.

Speaking to The Catholic Register from a massive refugee camp in Jordan, the executive director of the Archdiocese of Toronto’s Office for Refugees said he would never ask the government to restrict refugee sponsorship to Christians or other religious minorities.  [The UN camp from which Mark speaks is almost exclusively housing Sunni Muslims.  Why isn’t he in Turkey talking to the Christians?—ed]

“It would be a big mistake to say we have to check the religion on the refugee. No. We have to check the reason why somebody has become a refugee,” said Martin Mark.

        [….]

Need, vulnerability and the immediate risk to individuals and families are the only proper criteria to determine which refugees should be resettled, said Father Nawras Sammour, Jesuit Refugee Service country director for Syria.

I’ll bet a buck that there are 10,000 (the number Canada now says it will take) very vulnerable Christians and other minorities in “immediate risk” they could readily take rather than the mostly Sunni Muslims which are housed in UN camps.

By the way, as we debate this Muslim vs. Christian resettlement issue, don’t lose sight of the fact that resettling any refugee is enormously expensive to the taxpayers of the receiving country and that there are many considerations, other than religion, that should limit the numbers to be taken anywhere in the first world.

I would like to know more about the refugee responsibility split in Canada where supposedly 60% of refugees are supported privately and 40% by the government.  Of course in the US it is 100% government supported as the feds funnel taxpayer money through so-called ‘religious’ charities.  If we in the US went back to complete private support of refugees entering the US we would learn very quickly who is, and who isn’t, interested in true Christian charity.  You know that old maxim!  Put your own personal money where your mouth is!

There is nothing that lights my fuse more than the wealthy Catholic Church virtually stealing money from struggling taxpayers so that they can play humanitarian big shots!  The USCCB (below) migration program is 98% funded by the US taxpayer.

Center for Immigration Studies: huge rise in Muslim immigration to America poses security threat

Here, at Newsmax, is a report of new findings by the Washington, DC based Center of Immigration Studies.  I might argue that the largest threat to America is not the threat of a terrorist attack, but a result of the less visible drip, drip, drip of demands for Shariah compliance which will only increase as the US Muslim population grows, ultimately changing America from within (without a bullet or bomb!).

Editor’s note:  I am away at meetings today.  Last night’s post brought out some commenters and since we screen our comments, don’t be surprised if yours isn’t posted right away.  I will get to it when I return.  Just remember, no foul language or personal threats!

Newsmax:

A new study shows that the number of immigrants in the United States jumped 3 percent in three years — to a record 41.3 million in 2013 — and that the nearly 300,000 who came from Muslim countries pose a major national security threat, the report’s co-author told Newsmax on Thursday.

The UNHCR has selected 9,000-10,000 Syrians for resettlement to the US this year. UN camps are primarily populated by Muslims. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/12/23/asst-secretary-of-state-anne-richard-we-have-1000-1500-syrian-referrals-coming-in-a-month/

“All of that does raise national security concerns, and I don’t think there has been any consideration of that,” said Steven Camarota, research director for the Center for Immigration Studies.

The Washington-based nonprofit organization released the study on Thursday. It is based on an analysis of Census data from 2010 to last year. Camarota conducted the study and co-authored it with CIS demographer Karen Zeigler.

“The primary threat from a group like ISIS to the homeland is through our immigration system,” Camarota said, referring to the Islamic State terrorist group that has beheaded three Westerners in recent weeks.

[….]

According to the study, the Middle Eastern population grew by 207,758 in the period, or 13 percent, to more than 1.8 million last year. That compared with 1.6 million in 2010 and 1.1 million in 2000.

Leading the growth from that region was Saudi Arabia, with 43,878 immigrants — nearly double the number who were in the U.S. in 2010. The analysis shows that 88,894 Saudis lived in this country last year.  [I would like to know under which program we are taking Saudis, clearly they are not “refugees.”]

Iraq was next, with about 41,094 immigrants, for a 26 percent increase to a total of 200,894.

But the total number of immigrants from predominantly Muslim countries totaled 295,743 in the period, according to the CIS study. That was up by 13.5 percent.

The total number of immigrants from primarily Muslim countries in the U.S. was more than 2.4 million last year, compared with 2.1 million in 2010 and 1.5 million in 2000.

Camarota attributed the rise in Mideast immigration to myriad U.S. policies, whether they granted asylum or refugee status to people from the region or involved the nation’s defense forces.

Read it all, no time to say more!

About the Syrians in the photo:  According to statistics I’ve received, 88% of the small number of Syrians who have (so far) arrived in the US as refugees (since 2010) are Muslims.

Syrian Muslims headed to your state! You must speak up!

As I sit fixated on the terrible news from France as it comes in (the country that until recently led Europe with its love of  multiculturalism and one of the first to open its doors to Muslim migrants) what are readers most interested in here at RRW?  It is this post:  Syrian Muslims headed to North Dakota, Nebraska and Kentucky.

Thousands are reading it and passing it along and another several thousand are visiting this post: So where might those Syrians be going?

Just a reminder! One year ago: “Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), were all present at the hearing and unanimously expressed support for opening up the U.S. to more Syrian Refugees.” http://www.aaiusa.org/blog/entry/senators-express-bipartisan-support-for-opening-up-u.s.-to-more-syrian-refu/

France has learned the hard way, as is most of Europe now—they let in the invaders!

It’s too early to say whether America might be getting the message, and certainly my small but growing readership couldn’t possibly be definitive, but I can at least say there is something happening, some encouraging movement happening.

I can also say, and in this case, unequivocally! that without the Refugee Resettlement Program in the US, we would be in a much better position to fend off the Islamisation (the Hijra, the Jihad) from within.

Just recently I came across some numbers you should know.   We resettled 79,266 Somali Muslims in the US since 2004.  We also resettled 71,187 Muslim Iraqis (40,000 of that number are Sunni Muslims) since 2004.  And, much to my great surprise, we dropped off in your towns 11,451 Burmese Muslims in 11 years!  There are others, from other countries, but those are just three of the big ones.

Only a tiny number of those ethnic/religious groups would have gotten here (found their way here!) without the UN and the US State Department working together to facilitate their migration to America.

Asst. Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration, Anne Richard, has announced we will take approximately 10,000 Syrians. Most will be selected by the UN and will thus come from UN camps which house mostly Muslims.

Everyone with concerns, must now contact your US Senators and Members of Congress!   In truth we do need to do much more, but no one is taking a lead!

By the way, the state receiving the most refugees is Texas!  So, at minimum let Ted Cruz know what you think!

Pay attention to Qatar! Funding and promoting the Muslim migration to the West?

Blazing Cat Fur has a post yesterday entitled: ‘Al Jazeera ‘Voice of Qatar’ nags Europe and Canada about taking Syrian refugees’, with this commentary:

Qatar has been blamed for financing the Islamic fanatics that are making a solution impossible. They have also not taken in any refugees themselves.

Looks like a plan to Islamize the West.

It is true, that like Saudi Arabia, Qatar takes no refugees.  Read it all.

By the way, in 2013, Daniel Pipes penned a logical piece suggesting that Muslim refugees go to appropriate cultural zones and mentioned wealthy Qatar as one of the most desirable resettlement countries:

To place Syrians in “countries better able to afford to host them,” as Guterres delicately puts it, one need simply divert attention from the Christian-majority West toward the vast, empty expanses of the fabulously wealthy Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the smaller but in some cases even richer states of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. For starters, these countries (which I will collectively call Arabia) are much more convenient to repatriate to Syria from than, say, New Zealand. Living there also means not enduring frozen climes (as in Sweden) or learning difficult languages spoken by few, such as Danish.

Why don’t they take in their fellow Muslims?  Because this is not about humanitarian brownie points!  The migration of Muslims is about the Hijra—the responsibility of all Muslims to migrate and to colonize the West—to create the Islamic State worldwide.  They know it, why don’t we?

Stop Qatar Now! http://www.stopqatarnow.com/

Yesterday a reader directed me to this important website about the role Qatar is playing in funding the advance of the Islamic State throughout the Western world.  I have to admit, I hadn’t been focusing on Qatar, but I will now!  So should you!

Washington Post does the warm and fuzzy Syrian refugee story, so what else would you expect?

Reporter Julie Zauzmer does the stereotypical report on a Syrian family in fear of Assad who have just managed to be in the first batch of Syrians “welcomed” to America.

You can read the lengthy early paragraphs about the family’s long ordeal until they were rescued by America (through the UN), by the US State Department and by the State Department’s resettlement contractor Catholic Charities all geared to get your mind right before we get to the all important question—how are these people going to make it in America without enormous taxpayer support?  He was a journalist who can’t speak English, she a hairdresser who can’t speak English.

Anne Richard Asst. Secretary of State (left) and Antonio Guterres (UNHCR): We take those that the UN sends us and run this whole program on a shoestring (over $1 billion a year) budget!

Washington Post (emphasis is mine):

The State Department has promised that the United States will take in 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next two years.  [Seems to me she said 10,000 annually here—so what is the truth?—ed]

[….]

The United States takes in a set number of refugees — 70,000 a year — no matter what troubled part of the world they come from.

The UN picks our refugees!

Candidates for resettlement are nominated by the office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, then interviewed by State Department officials. The rigorous process involves a background check, review of any documents the refugees can provide to prove their lives are at risk and numerous interviews to make sure the refugees’ accounts of their hardships remain consistent.

“Their stories have to hold water. They can’t be dishonest or criminals or would-be terrorists,” said Anne Richard, the assistant secretary of state for population, refugees and migration.  [She assumes they never lie, but she knows better.  We have admitted terrorists through the refugee program.—ed]

One reason they got in, the teenage daughters were candidates for sexual assault (in a Muslim country, but they never say that).

US State Department Daniel Langenkamp: The vulnerable teenaged girls in the family helped move them up the list. Photo: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/daniel-langenkamp/1a/197/563

In the Smaisems’ case, State Department spokesman Daniel Langenkamp said that the specific threat against Khaled, as well as the fact that the family had two teenage daughters in an environment known for its sexual-assault hazard, may have contributed to moving them up the list.

Richard said that 105 Syrians were resettled in the United States in fiscal 2014. In fiscal 2015, which began on Oct. 1, 112 have arrived.

If she now says it’s going to be 9,000 over two years she is going to really tick-off the contractors who want 15,000 per year!

As of mid-December, 9,972 Syrians had been nominated by the U.N. office and begun the process of applying for U.S. resettlement, Richard said. She said nearly all likely will be accepted within the next two years.

Once refugees arrive, they are assigned to a private organization that partners with the State Department to get the families settled. In the case of the Smaisems, it was Catholic Charities, the largest such group. [Partners!  They are contractors and why can’t these reporters for the mainstream media ever say that! Or, don’t they even know!—ed]

Refugees receive U.S. government stipends for up to three months, and federal grant programs help states support them for longer. But the money quickly tapers off.  [Federal grant money goes to the contractors who then launder it through their offices.—ed]

“This is not a luxurious program. This is very challenging,” Richard said. “It’s kind of run on a shoestring budget.”

Shoestring budget!  It is over $1 billion just to get 70,000 in the door!  That does not include most of the social services they will live on for years and years!

Khaled is keenly aware of that. His family’s initial cash aid has ended. According to Derek Maxfield, the associate director of Catholic Charities of D.C., the family is receiving food stamps, which will end after they have been in the country for eight months; local government cash assistance that amounts to $200 to $300 per month; and $1,000 monthly per family member through a Catholic Charities program. [There is no reason the food stamps will end! And, haven’t we been told many times that refugee resettlement doesn’t cost local taxpayer dollars?—ed]

The large Catholic Charities stipend is not charitable Catholic money—it is federal taxpayer money!   Come on reporters, stop being lazy, or is this to mislead?

That large Catholic Charities stipend, which will end after about four months, is predicated on the family’s efforts to become self-sufficient. Smaisem has been looking for work, though he says that his lack of English hampers him.

After you’ve read the long mushy (superficial) story, tell me—any chance this family is going to be “self-sufficient” any time soon?

Isn’t it about time that publications like the Washington Post and the New York Times begin to do some serious and careful reporting?  I know, I know, stop laughing!
