Clinton: Let's rebuild Detroit with Syrian refugees!

Consider this Part II of my previous post because here we learn that Hamdi Ulukaya (Chobani Yogurt empire) was busy earlier this year talking with Bill Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative about the joys of hiring (Muslims in the case of the Syrians) over American workers.
This idea of rebuilding Detroit with thousands of Syrians isn’t new, remember the Republican governor of Michigan was spouting that same idea here in May of last year.  The Clinton Global Initiative video is from February of this year, so I wonder if Clinton stole the cockamamie idea from Snyder? (I guess I will have to watch the thing!).

Here is what Julia Hahn says at Breitbart:

In a previously little-noticed video from February at the Clinton Global Initiative, former President Bill Clinton suggested that the U.S. use Syrian refugees to rebuild Detroit.

“The truth is that the big loser in this over the long run is going to be Syria. This is an enormous opportunity for Americans,” Bill Clinton said about the Syrian migrant crisis.

It is unclear from the video why Clinton seems to think it would be better to fill these Detroit jobs with imported foreign migrants rather than unemployed Americans already living there, who could perhaps benefit from good-paying jobs.

In the video, Clinton discusses the migrant crisis with billionaire and mass migration enthusiast Hamdi Ulukaya of the Chobani yogurt empire.

Ulukaya has become a figure of controversy for his decision to fill his yogurt plants with foreign refugees rather than unemployed Americans. At the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year, Ulukaya encouraged other global elites to follow his lead.

The unearthed video seems to underscore Donald Trump’s recent declaration that, “Hillary Clinton would rather provide a job to a refugee from overseas than to give that job to unemployed African-American youth in cities like Detroit who have become refugees in their own country.”

BTW, expect to see more of Mr. Chobani (with other corporate big wigs) and the Clintons at Obama’s big UN refugee shindig on September 20th!

Obama Administration bragging everywhere about reaching the 10,000 Syrian Muslim number before deadline

They still have a  month to reach the end of Fiscal Year 2016 refugee admissions and they will likely bring in at least another 1,000 Syrian (mostly Sunni Muslims) for your towns and cities.
Here  is ABC’s take on the news we reported the other day when we linked a World Net Daily story in our post about the Rally4Refugees event that fizzled and flopped in Washington, DC on Sunday.

Alice Wells
Ambassador Alice Wells says bye! bye! to Syrian families headed to the American heartland. Note the Obama T-shirt on the bulletin board in the background. And, you should know that IOM, another federal refugee contractor, has recently been absorbed into the United Nations.

I had to laugh when I saw how ABC news characterizes Church World Service (a federal resettlement contractor) as working closely with the US government.  I guess if you are a paid contractor for the government that is working closely, but it shows me that the mainstream media has really no clue about how PERMANENT*** resettlement works in America.
Check out that photo of our Ambassador to Jordan (above) and the little PR stunt as she sends off these latest Syrians to your town (see the bulletin board behind her).
And, for those who have forgotten it was Ambassador Wells last spring who reported that the normal 18-24 months of supposed security screening had been reduced to 3 months to make Obama’s 10,000 goal.  So every time you hear an elected official parroting the lie that the screening is 18-24 months tell them they are misinformed.
Here are Syrian numbers that the Refugee Processing Center reports as of August 29th (for fiscal year 2016 that began on October 1, 2015):

Total Syrians admitted: 10,177 (again in this fiscal year)

Suni Moslems: 9,988

Shiite Moslems: 20

Moslems: 90

Total of all Moslems (their spelling btw) admitted: 10,098

Percentage of Syrian Muslims admitted to the US by the Obama Administration this year:  99%

They are being resettled in the US (with money appropriated by the Republican Congress) by Catholic Charities, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Church World Service representing many mainstream Protestant faiths, Episcopal Migration Ministries, and World Relief which are Evangelicals.  Does not one of those (GUTLESS!) so-called ‘religious’ charities ever say—WHAT ABOUT THE PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS!
***You know there are still some uninformed people, some in the media too, who think that we bring Iraqis, Syrians, Somalis etc. here on a temporary basis and that they are then sent home after their countries calm down—that is not true.  Refugees admitted in this program are here forever and are actually encouraged to make their status permanent as soon as they can.  (The Dems need the voters! And, the Republicans want the cheap labor!).

Northhampton, Massachusetts will become new resettlement site

This is a short news item at New England Public Radio.
Because the resettlement contractors are wearing out their welcome in places like Springfield, Mass. they are moving out to fresh territory.  Moves like this one (20 miles up the road) are also to accommodate the large increase in the number of refugees expected in 2017 if Obama gets his way in September. (If Paul Ryan lets him have his way!)

alisa Klein
Alisa Klein is one of two city council members who promoted a resolution to urge the resettlement of Syrian Muslims (99% of those arriving are Sunni Muslims) to Northhampton. Learn more about her here where she got in trouble for remarks about the police last year. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2015/01/northampton_city_councilor_ali.html

City council members last fall said they wanted Northhampton to be a sanctuary for Syrians, here.

Residents of Northampton, Massachusetts, are laying the groundwork for the likely arrival of refugees in the next year.

Catholic Charities, based in Springfield, expects to resettle 51 refugees from Syria, Iraq, Burundi, and the Congo, and they’re focusing on Northampton, where the city council last year passed a resolution to welcome the groups.

[….]

Catholic Charities says the first refugees could come as early as January.

We have many posts on Springfield, Mass (click here) where the mayor there begged for relief as his city became overloaded a few years ago.
Like Ithaca, NY there seems to be no resistance in Northhampton to the arrival of impoverished and not thoroughly screened refugees.
Just a reminder to have a look at ‘Ten things your town needs to know when welcoming refugees.’  51 might not seem like much, but once the door is opened, I guarantee the numbers will mushroom year after year.
I was recently shocked to see that in ‘welcoming’ Lancaster, PA they get 700 refugees a year and that the local school district is now embroiled in a costly legal battle about how best to educate older teenage refugees.  Are you ready Northhampton?
Hey! I just remembered!  Whatever happened to the Syrian refugee resettled to Lowell earlier this summer and ultimately arrested for an unwanted sexual advance on a little girl at a public swimming pool?  Does anyone know?

Norway building border fence with Russia, too many refugees coming through arctic

Invasion of Europe news….
Everybody wants a fence these days!
From the Independent:

Norway is building a steel fence at its arctic border with Russia after an influx of thousands of refugees last year.

Storskog map

The new fence, which will be around 660 feet long and 11 feet high, will stretch from the Skorskog [typo apparently, should be Storskog—ed] border point, sources in the Norwegian government told Reuters.

Construction of the fence is due to finish before winter frosts set in, making it harder to enter Norway through the forest.

[….]

Last year, Russia and Norway battled to repeatedly reject the same refugees.

Norway said it would begin sending refugees who have Russian residency permits back to Russia, arguing it had received no “satisfactory” explanation from Russia as to why it sent so many refugees to Norway rather than Finland.

Go here to see the graphic with the huge spike in Syrians claiming asylum in Norway in the last year.

Syrian refugee numbers expanding, but hard to pin down why

It is easy enough to follow the US State Department data reported at the Refugee Processing Center that keeps the numbers on resettled refugees and tells us where they have gone. (It doesn’t archive successful asylum seekers or any other legal program.)
So, people are looking around and saying there sure are more than 10,000 Syrians here already.  One immigration researcher thinks Obama is using ‘Humanitarian parole’ on the sly, others disagree.  But, they all agree that other methods are being used to bring Syrians to our shores (or letting them stay) in ever larger numbers.
Here is some useful information at LifeZette:

A discrepancy in statistics provided by the Department of Homeland Security has led an attorney for a Washington-based legal group to question whether administration officials are waiving Syrians into the United States by other means.

ferrise_portrait_400x400
Beth Ferris a Georgetown professor has said they will use additional methods to get Syrians planted in your towns. No surprise, see her bio. She once worked for one of the nine major federal resettlement contractors. https://www.brookings.edu/experts/elizabeth-ferris/

Ian Smith, of the Immigration Reform Law Institute, obtained the data through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. It shows that U.S. officials as of Jan. 25 had interviewed 9,800 refugee applicants since fiscal year 2014. That is nearly twice as many people as the combined number of approvals (4,774) and denials (417) during that time.

“The discrepancy is very, very large, and they go back quite a ways.”

Smith speculated that the Obama administration is using “humanitarian parole” to admit Syrians who do not meet the eligibility requirements for refugees. That is the same method by which the Obama administration has allowed entry to the unaccompanied minors who have arrived en masse at the U.S.-Mexican border over the past few years.

“I really think that’s the case, because that’s what we’ve been seeing with the Central American Minors programs,” Smith said.

Some think that they don’t need parole as they are finding other creative ways to bring in thousands and thousands more.

[Nayla] Rush [Center for Immigration Studies] said she believes some Syrians will end up coming through other ways, however. She pointed to a conference in February in which Beth Ferris, a Georgetown University professor and humanitarian refugee policy adviser to the United Nations secretary-general, said there are “alternative safe pathways” that could inflate the number of fleeing Syrians entering America to 200,000. Possibilities include giving scholarships and extending the ability of Syrian-Americans to sponsor relatives beyond their immediate family members to include aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

In addition, some 8,000 non-refugees from Syria who are already in the United States — both legally and illegally — have been allowed to remain under a program called Temporary Protected Status. The Department of Homeland Security recently renewed that status for another year.

More here.
Temporary Protected Status is a one (of several!) legal immigration programs that need to go! There is nothing temporary about it.  Click here for our archive on TPS.
I haven’t said this in awhile, but the next time you hear someone (a politician maybe) say that LEGAL immigration is good but illegal isn’t. Tell them they don’t know what they are talking about because we have some egregious LEGAL programs that need to be scrapped!
BTW, I have just added a new tag that I think will come in handy from now on: ‘where is Congress.’
