LA Times story: US not doing enough for refugees, but look what creeps in at the end (a warning!)

O.K. So the news story entitled, ‘U.S. response to refugee crisis is nowhere near that of Europe,’ starts out just like what you would expect from the LA Times carrying the water for the open borders Leftists who complain that the US is not acting fast enough to bring in tens of thousands of mostly Muslim Syrian refugees.  Blah! Blah! Blah!
But, then check out the last few paragraphs as a warning creeps in from a Professor, Jeffrey Bale, of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey.  I am heartened to know that there are professors like Bale in academia, and that mainstream media publications are quoting him!

Security concerns with refugees are legitimate!

We know that, but do readers of this LA Times story know it?  Here is what reporter, Carol J. Williams, has helpfully added at the end of her story (for readers who get that far!):

Some scholars of terrorism chafe at the criticism that the U.S. doesn’t do enough to help refugees from the Middle East’s caldron of conflicts.

“I don’t really agree with the premise that the U.S. is somehow being unresponsive,” said Jeffrey Bale, a professor of nonproliferation and counter-terrorism at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey. “On the contrary, the refugee resettlement program in the U.S. has already taken in hundreds of thousands of Somalis and a significant number of Iraqis, and is now recommending taking in tens of thousands of Syrians, even though those Somali refugees have since created lots of problems.”  [By the way, we have admitted almost 150,000 Iraqis since Bush’s last year in office and at least two thirds of them are Muslim Iraqis—ed]

He was referring to increased crime rates and welfare dependency, as well as security threats posed by inadequate vetting of migrants to prevent Islamic extremists from gaining entry to the United States and other Western countries.

Why aren’t rich Arab gulf states taking refugees, why are these refugees the responsibility of the West?

“Nor do I believe that it is mainly the responsibility of Western countries to resolve the refugee problems in non-Western parts of the world marked by war, other kinds of violence, poverty and disease. Why don’t the wealthy Arab gulf states, which are awash in oil money, take in tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of these Muslim refugees? Or why don’t nearby Muslim countries put pressure on [Syrian President Bashar Assad’s] regime or take military action against jihadist groups, actions which might significantly reduce the number of internal and external refugees in the first place?”

Go here and watch Professor Bale talk about the woeful lack of understanding by our security analysts of the apocalyptic ideology of Islam especially as it relates to the Islamic State.  The Islamists are telling us exactly who they are and what they want, why don’t we listen?

Lutherans call for 200,000 refugees to be admitted to US in 2016 including 100,000 Syrians

A reader has just alerted us to yet another federal refugee contractor, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), one-upping the other two contractors we have reported on, here and here both demanding that Obama admit 65,000 Syrians in FY2016.  We thought those were outrageous demands!

Linda-Hartke-square-headshot-for-blog1-290x300
Linda Hartke, CEO of LIRS, sent out the urgent e-mail to their members. LIRS is approximately 97% funded with your tax dollars! https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2015/01/16/how-much-of-your-tax-dollars-are-the-federal-refugee-resettlement-contractors-receiving/

But get this…..
LIRS wants 100,000 Syrians!  Either they are completely insane or they know Obama is on the edge and needs a little push! Maybe if they say 100,000, Obama will settle for 65,000!
Here is what our reader says was in his e-mail alert:

“Refugees fleeing Syria need you.

I am asking you to join us with three simple actions that can make a real difference:

Act – In response to this global refugee crisis, the largest since World War II, you can urge the President and Congress to increase the annual refugee admissions goal, or “Presidential Determination” from the 2015 number of 70,000 to 200,000 for 2016 and prioritize receiving 100,000 Syrian refugees in this number.

Click here to send to urge President Obama and Congress to increase the number of refugees resettled this year and to prioritize Syrians.

We’ve been telling you about the importance of the timing on all this right now with the “Presidential Determination” due to be sent to Congress for “consultation” within a couple of weeks.  The escalating migrant crisis in Europe isn’t helping either.
This will be a great test for the Republicans running Congress—will they once again rubber stamp what Obama wants?

UN wants Europe to take 200,000 permanent refugees; Poland says stop the illegal flow first! UK buckles!

More ‘Invasion of Europe’ news…..

Guterres
Former head of Socialists International, UNHCR Antonio Guterres is calling the shots for Europe AND America!

As EU leaders meet today to discuss the migrant crisis overwhelming Europe, the UN ups the number of refugees it is demanding that European countries permanently resettle.
By the way, in 2014 the UN was demanding that all western countries (not Gulf Arab states and not communist Russia or China!) take 130,000 permanent Syrian refugees.
That is how the number 65,000! for America came to be—the UN and the US resettlement contractors said that since the US takes half of the refugees from around the world, our SHARE is 65,000!
Using that logic, since the UN is now upping the number are we expected to take 100,000?
Here is the latest at Deutsche Welle:

The United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Refugees has called for up to 200,000 refugees to be shared across the European Union. Various meetings are due to be held across the EU to discuss the crisis.

Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, said on Friday that EU member states would be bound to the “mass relocation program.”

Polish Foreign Minister wisely says—stop the flow!

Poland’s Grzegorz Schetyna says STOP the “illegal migration” first!

Former Communist block countries seem to get it!
There is really no sense discussing the numbers to be distributed (or forced on each European state) when there is no will to stop the invasion!
Remember Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott told European leaders months ago that they needed to (safely) turn boats back to where they were launched!  No effort was ever made!  This present crisis could have been averted had EU leaders followed Abbott’s advice back in April.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban says this is Germany’s problem apparently a reference to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s invitation to the Syrians.
Deutsche Welle quotes Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Grzegorz Schetyna near the end of the story.  Clearly Schetyna believes most of the illegal aliens are ‘economic migrants’ and not truly persecuted refugees.

Poland warned on Friday that the EU must tackle the causes behind the huge migrant influx or risk being inundated with millions of refugees.

“The scale of the migration is enormous, so we can’t focus – I’m talking about the whole of Europe – on allocating illegal migrants without fighting the causes [of their arrival],” Schetyna told private Radio Zet.

“We have to think of how to stop the illegal migration. Otherwise [we may have] soon have 3-4 million economic refugees,” he added.

By the way, Poland has taken some Christian Syrians who do not pose a threat to the largely Catholic country.

Meanwhile the UK is caving.

Previously the Cameron government had been holding firm and not allowing itself to be bullied into taking large numbers of Syrian refugees.  But, here Cameron buckles to pressure.  From The Guardian (hat tip: Joanne).
For background on the ‘Invasion of Europe’ go here where we have over a hundred posts on the topic going back a couple of years!

Petition to the White House: Bring in 65,000 mostly Muslim Syrians to live permanently in US!

Editor:  I know some of you who have subscribed to RRW don’t like getting too many e-mails in one day, but honestly this issue is reaching a fever-pitch and we must at least try to keep up with the news being driven by the events in Europe and the uptick in lobbying activity by Obama’s federal refugee contractors as they push for massive numbers of refugees, especially Syrians, to be admitted to the US in fiscal year 2016 which begins on October 1 (in a few short weeks).  As a subscriber you will be getting more e-mails that are directly generated by wordpress.  Also, if you are a longtime reader and think we are repeating too much information, keep in mind that we have hundreds (yesterday thousands!) of new readers every day and they need to be brought up to speed.  ***Update*** If you would like to keep up with more news that interests me, but I can’t post, follow me on twitter, here @refugeewatcher.

Here then is additional confirmation that the nine major federal refugee contractors*** are going warp speed to press the Obama Administration to bring 65,000 Syrians to the US in the closing months of the Obama Administration.  I know the number 65,000! sounds like insanity (and it is), but remember these are hard left NGOs that are working to change American communities by colonizing them with third world ‘diversity’ and to top it off they are paid by the head to do it—by you, the US taxpayer!

They need to get as much done as possible in case a certain Republican is elected in 2016.

Yesterday we told you about the International Rescue Committee David Miliband’s press release pushing for 65,000 (and remember the UN is picking the Syrians from their camps and that so far of the 1,400 or so we have admitted since January 2012—95% are Sunni Muslims).  The percentage jumps to 97% for this year.  They are not clamoring to save Christians!

Lavinia Limon
This is Lavinia Limon the CEO of USCRI. She was Bill Clinton’s director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement. To learn more about her see our many posts over the years here: https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/?s=Lavinia+Limon

Now we see that another contractor, US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), has started a White House Petition asking Obama for 65,000 Syrians!
Time is of the essence!  Obama will be sending his annual “Determination Letter” (for FY2016) to Congress for consultation in a few short weeks.  Congress usually rubber stamps whatever the President asks.  You must make sure they don’t rubber stamp it this time!
Here is the White House Petition (no mention of persecuted Christians!):

Resettle Syrian Refugees in the U.S

By the end of April 2015 , the UN estimated 6.5 million people had been displaced in Syria, while more than +4 million refugees had fled to countries such as Lebanon (1.2 million), Jordan (608,000) and Turkey (1.75 million) and thousands more in Europe.

Germany expects to accept 800,000 asylum seekers this year, four times more than in 2014 and more than any other EU country. The US has so fare admitted less than 1000 Syrian refugees.

United States of America; the most powerful nation, the largest economy, and the champion of democracy and human rights should stands for its values .

The International Rescue Committee has argued for the U.S. to accept at least 65,000 refugees.

We are asking the President and the government to pledge to resettle at least 65,000 Syrians by 2016.

As of this writing they have 10,180 signatures and hope to reach 100,000 this month!

See our petition here.

Citizens concerned about what is being done to their communities are only asking for a say in how much resettlement they get, while the contractors are looking to virtually double the number of needy people to be “seeded” into unsuspecting towns. (In recent years, Obama has admitted about 70,000 refugees each year from all over the world, 65,000, of course, would nearly double the number for FY2016).
For our thousands of new readers, here (below) are the nine major refugee contractors that like to call themselves Voluntary Agencies but are largely paid by the US taxpayer to colonize American towns.  These nine phony non-profits (quasi government agencies!) are choosing the towns where Syrians will be resettled.
If you are affiliated with one of the six (in red) so-called faith groups, it is time to ask what the h*** are they doing to America in your name!

One final thing!  This is a list of USCRI subcontractors around the US.  Note they are the contractor operating in Twin Falls, Idaho. This petition tells you exactly what USCRI has in mind for your town—-hundreds, perhaps thousands! of Syrians for each of them! You need to look at the list!
On second thought, one more thing!  Go here to the list of 190 or so refugee subcontractors around the US.   If your town or city is on the list, or even within 100 miles of any of these offices, you are a target!
Contact local elected officials and do some preemptive community organizing and demand that your community have a say in the secretive resettlement process.
I put the word “permanently” in the title of my post because I think some new readers think that we take refugees on a temporary basis.  Make no mistake!  If the civil war in Syria ended tomorrow and the pipeline of Syrians was fully open, the resettlement would go on for years and all those getting in would be US citizens in short order.

Fighting-age young men dominate "refugee" flow to Europe

The ‘Invasion of Europe’ continues today….
If one judges by the photos, it sure looks like young men are the problem in the flood of supposed refugees from the Middle East swarming into Europe.  A picture is worth a thousand words.  A lot of pictures like those here at the Daily Mail are worth much more!
What sort of men are these?  Instead of running to Mama Merkel for comfort, why aren’t they fighting to save their own countries?
I thought of this post—some Syrians are opportunists—when I saw these photos.
Disgusting in Budapest earlier today:
