Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society says we may have to admit 200,000 Syrian refugees

This is how they work!  They constantly raise the ceiling so that the 65,000 they have been demanding looks small in comparison to the 200,000 they would really like to drop off in your towns and cities.
The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, one of nine major resettlement contractors being paid to resettle refugees, is at the forefront of a coalition of “multifaith” groups to bring in tens of thousands of Syrian Muslims and to increase our annual quota of 70,000 (from all countries) to 100,000 each year.

Melanie Nezer
Nezer: Hundreds of thousands is not a huge number for America to absorb.

HIAS is also the group (largely funded with your tax dollars) and Nezer was the author of that report two years ago threatening to sic the Southern Poverty Law Center on anyone resisting refugee resettlement.
Here is the latest from Forward.com (Jewish groups lead push to open doors to Syrian refugees):

Of the four million Syrians who have fled their war-torn country in recent years, at least 135,000 of them require immediate resettlement.

But America has absorbed fewer than 1,000.  [Setting the ‘bad America’ meme at the outset!—ed]

Here come the ‘multifaithers:’

The Multifaith Alliance, noted Rabbi Eric J. Greenberg, the organization’s director of communications, programs and interfaith relations, started off as a Jewish response to the Syrian crisis. A year and half ago the group reached out to other faith-based groups and to humanitarian organizations, inviting them to join the effort. The alliance is made up of 40 groups of all faiths, but Jewish organizations still play a prominent role in the coalition.

Keep reading and then near the end comes the tips on where HIAS is going with its media and lobbying campaign:

…back in America, the Jewish community’s efforts to resolve the Syrian refugee crisis include high-level advocacy aimed at helping more Syrians resettle here.

Traditionally, the United States has taken it upon itself to admit half the refugees worldwide who are identified by UNHCR as being in need of immediate resettlement. In the Syrian case, this translates into about 65,000 out of the 135,000 total. But so far, UNHCR, slowed by its own vetting process, has referred only 12,000 requests to the United States.  [Last week it was 130,000, see how they work!—ed]

Experts anticipate that by the time the refugee evaluation process is completed, some 400,000 will be recognized as needing resettlement. This will present America with a request to absorb 200,000 Syrian refugees.

But U.S. resettlement quotas, which have not been updated in years, now stand at 70,000 people total, from all over the world, per year. HIAS and Jewish groups are asking to increase this quota to 100,000 per year, a level the United States maintained in the 1980s. “It’s not a huge number for a country the size of the United States,” Nezer said.

The news report does mention security concerns and about how HIAS would like to get around that sticky issue.  See our report with update of the House Homeland Security hearing earlier this week.
If you think this is too outragious to even consider, it isn’t.  Remember HIAS has helped resettle over 100,000 (mostly Muslim) Iraqis and over 100,000 Muslim Somalis to America.  Nothing would make them happier than to see 200,000 Syrians (90% will be Sunni Muslims) for you to care for where you live.  And, the Christian ‘charities’ will be right there with them!
Can we say death wish!

Syrians coming to Amish country (Lancaster County, PA)

Most people are very surprised to learn that Church World Service (one of nine federal resettlement contractors) has been busy for years flooding Lancaster, PA with third worlders.  Here we learn that the next big batch will be Syrians—Syrians who don’t speak English and who will need mental health counseling!

Lancaster Sheila
Sheila Mastropietro of CWS: Counseling is an area of concern. You betcha! Sure hope Lancaster has lots of good FREE counseling services. BTW, your tax dollars pay for 20 staff people in Mastropietro’s office! http://www.cwsglobal.org/what-we-do/refugees/us-offices/lancaster/lancaster-staff.html

And, big surprise (not!) they will work in factories and warehouses (jobs Americans won’t do for slave wages?).  Please explain to me why a ‘church’ group is acting as head hunter for businesses looking for cheap labor?
From WITF:

About 60 Syrian refugees already live in Lancaster County, and another 60 are expected to re-settle there in the next year.

Church groups secure and furnish apartments for the families, who also get help in finding work and staying healthy.

English classes will be available, and kids will go to schools in the county.

Speaking on WITF’s Smart Talk, Sheila Mastropietro with Church World Service in Lancaster also says counseling is an area of concern because many refugees have seen death and destruction in Syria.

“So it’s difficult but we do what we can and we certainly have interpretation services. And we expect that some people are going to need at least some counseling in the beginning at least,” she says.

Mastropietro says she expects the Syrians to find work quickly in a warehouse or factory.

Go here to listen to the Smart Talk interview.
And, if you didn’t know Church World Service is part of the National Council of Churches which has historical roots in the Communist movement of the 1950s.  They are hard Leftists in their political view.
See our archive on Lancaster by clicking here.
It was in Lancaster, in 2013, that I first heard about “pockets of resistance” (towns trying to stop the flow of refugees their way) and the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s new hire—‘Welcoming America.’
An afterthought:  I should have added this—over 90% of the Syrians we are taking are Muslims.

House Homeland Security Subcommittee to hold hearing tomorrow on Syrian refugee threat

Update June 24th:  The Center for Security Policy filed this report of the hearing.
This is a rescheduled hearing we had been waiting for, here, several weeks ago.

David Gartenstein-Ross of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies will testify tomorrow. http://www.defenddemocracy.org/

Rep. Peter King (R-NY) will preside over the hearing in the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence.  Those testifying about the security risk involved with admitting thousands of Syrians with little documentation include:

Dr. Seth Jones
Director
International Security and Defense Policy Center
RAND Corporation

Mr. Thomas Fuentes
FBI Assistant Director (Retired)

Dr. Daveed Gartenstein-Ross
Senior Fellow
Foundation for Defense of Democracies

It is disappointing that there is no present representative of the FBI as there was in an earlier hearing in February.   The FBI testified then that it was impossible to screen Syrians for security because there were no available records on who they really are.
Members of the Subcommittee are as follows.  If one of these is your representative in Washington, please contact him or her today and tomorrow and tell them no migration of Syrians (they are mostly Muslims) to your towns and cities should be permitted.
(To see where they have been resettled so far this year, go here. And, be sure to see our Youtube video here on the plan to admit 65,000 in the next 18 months or so!)
Members of the Subcommittee:

Majority

Peter T. King, New York, Chairman

Candice Miller, Michigan

Lou Barletta, Pennsylvania*

John Katko, New York

Will Hurd, Texas

Minority

Brian Higgins, New York, Ranking Member

William R. Keating, Massachusetts

Filemon Vela, Texas

* Barletta is an especially good immigration control advocate.

I know many of you think that 65,000 Syrians admitted to the US before Obama leaves office is a pipe dream of the federal refugee contractors , the Senate Jihad Caucus, and the UN/US State Department, but it isn’t.  It could happen, so you must speak up often and loudly!

You know all that low-income housing they are building in middle class American towns, and we are told masses of trailers are being spotted in rural communities—well, what else could they need all that government housing for?  Just saying!
Obama is surely planning to go out with a final blow to America!  And, he knows Congress is a toothless tiger!  This could be it!

CATO immigration "specialist:" Bring Syrian refugees in, but cut off their welfare

If any of you are Libertarians and think the CATO Institute is the last word on libertarian good sense, you may not know that crazy CATO is for a free flow of immigrants around the world.   Here Alex Nowrasteh,  CATO immigration specialist, makes an emotional pitch to bring in Syrian refugees, but remembering that he is a Libertarian, near the end of his Op-ED in The Hill, says, but of course no welfare for them.

alex-nowrasteh-cato
Alex Nowrasteh, a Libertarian thinker in Washington: We didn’t save enough Jews in WWII, so now we have to bring in Syrians.

The Hill gave him space to say that we should open our borders to Syrians.  He threw out some tired old bromides and the usual Leftist guilt-tripping about previous refugees (he must be reading the Left’s open borders screeds).
Then finally he suggests it will be fine, bring them in, but don’t let them get welfare (when pigs fly!).  Where has he been?
The whole refugee resettlement apparatus in the US right now is built around our ever-expanding welfare system.  Indeed the primary job of federal refugee resettlement contractors is to get refugees firmly attached to the federal welfare teat!   From cash assistance, to food stamps, to subsidized housing and Medicaid, the non-profit government contractor’s job is to get them their “services” within the first three months of their arrival.
Clearly Mr. Nowrasteh doesn’t have a clue about the intricate web of interdependency between refugees, their contractors and government agencies and programs and the political power behind the refugee program.  Maybe he should read RRW occasionally.
Twenty paragraphs in to a twenty-two paragraph Op-Ed he says something we could support.
Why didn’t he say it earlier? It is almost as if he says, ‘Oopsy’ I’m a libertarian, I better say something libertarian-like!
Most readers won’t even get this far!  In fact, most readers will be left (dabbing their eyes with tissues) after his emotional appeals of the first three-quarters of his piece.  I didn’t know libertarians are into emotional appeals and sob-stories!
Most on the Hill will say, Yes! CATO supports the Syrian resettlement.
Maybe the headline in the The Hill should have been something like this:  ‘Welfare should be disallowed for refugees, then we can talk about bringing in Syrians.‘  I would have disagreed with that too (about bringing in the Syrians), but at least it would have been an intellectually honest libertarian thing to say.
So, I think they call this burying the lead!   As almost an afterthought, Nowrasteh finally says in paragraph twenty:

Americans shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill!  Churches and charities should do it!

American taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill. Refugees have access to some means-tested welfare benefits before other immigrants do; that should end. Churches, charities and mutual aid associations should fulfill that responsibility.

Is CATO on the Hill actively lobbying for refugees to be disallowed welfare, or like way too many Washington ‘think tank’ experts are they just running their mouths while collecting big salaries for being supposedly ‘smart’ people?

Point me to a bill that CATO supports to disallow refugees to access welfare and I will apologize for calling them crazy!

June 20th is World Refugee (propaganda) Day: ask Congress for more $$$ and register refugees to vote!

In 2000, the United Nations declared June 20th World Refugee Day according to wikipedia, here.
You probably are already seeing local news media scrambling to cover local events designed to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling about ‘welcoming’ more refugees to your communities.

On 4 December 2000, the United Nations General Assembly in Resolution 55/76 decided that, from 2001, 20 June would be celebrated as World Refugee Day. In this resolution, the General Assembly noted that 2001 marked the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.

World Refugee Day

Let’s lobby Congress!

Refugee Council USA (RCUSA),  the lobbying arm for UN/US State Department resettlement contractors and other groups working to open our borders and diversify your communities has gone one step farther and declared the week of June 27th to July 2 as National Refugee Advocacy Week and have prepared an entire ‘Advocacy Toolkit’ for anyone wishing to take action to lobby for more refugees and more money for the ‘humanitarians’ working in your towns and cities.’
We told you about RCUSA here as they were behind getting the Senate Jihad Caucus to send a letter to Obama urging him to open our doors wide to 65,000 Syrian (mostly Muslim refugees) before he leaves office.

Here are some of the things they want open borders advocates to do:

* Invite a policymaker to a World Refugee Day event in your area.

* Organize an in-district meeting with your members of Congress. Your Senators and Representatives will be in their local offices during National Refugee Advocacy Week, making it a great opportunity to meet with them to discuss important refugee policy and funding issues. Introduce them to a refugee!

* Call Congress to support refugee funding and legislation – and get others to join you.

* Write a letter to your members of Congress encouraging support for refugees.

And last but not least—REGISTER VOTERS!

* Promote Civic Engagement and Register New Voters for refugees who are naturalized citizens. See this civic engagement resource from 2014 developed by Church World Service for more information.

Readers, don’t get discouraged, but know that these are well-funded, Leftwing community organizers who have been working for years to change America by changing the people!  And, it didn’t start with Obama!
By the way, as I write this, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service has refugees on Capitol Hill lobbying for them.
Be sure to get and read, James Simpson’s ‘Red-Green Axis: working to erase America’ and learn about the players and where their funding comes from!
