Houston Syrian American Council: Rep. McCaul and others with security concerns are just a bunch of Islamophobes

So what else is new.  This is a not an unexpected opinion piece posted at Al-Jazeera by the president of an advocacy group for Syrian rights in America.
It really isn’t worth mentioning except for two things in addition to the name calling.   The writer, Shiyam Galyon President of the Houston chapter of the Syrian American Council, says it is our ‘responsibility’ to bring in refugees!
For new readers, see recent post on House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and his committee’s concerns about Syrian refugees coming en masse (65,000!) to America.
Here is Galyon:

McCaul’s efforts to curtail the refugee resettlement program are part of a larger trend in Western countries that is exacerbating the Syrian refugee crisis by using anti-immigrant, Islamophobic sentiment to avoid resettlement responsibilities. In recent years, the program has raised its security standards and is considered successful by resettlement professionals.

Responsibilities!   It is our responsibility?  And, calling everyone with a differing view—Islamophobes—isn’t going to help her cause!

Then she tells us that her group has visited Rep. McCaul’s office in hopes of persuading him to not question the security issues related to allowing large numbers of refugees into the US who we previously learned could not be screened.

My organization, the Houston chapter of the Syrian American Council, took Syrian American constituents to meet with McCaul’s office in Katy, Texas, in January. We shared our anti-Assad and anti-ISIL sentiments and went on to explain how some members of the delegation initially came to America as refugees and ended up running successful businesses in Texas.

My purpose in mentioning this is that you, and others in the Houston area (McCaul’s district is there), who do have concerns, should be going in to Rep. McCaul’s office to support him and counter her group’s arguments (remember what Greenfield says, here).

Watch for it: As Muslim population grows, so too do demands for Halal slaughter/inspection!

Editor:  This is a guest column from a Texas reader/activist who would like to join with other Texans to begin to push back against the federal government’s program of seeding Texas with Muslim refugees.  It is addressed to Texans!  (Filed in our category for guest posts and comments, here).
When I travel, people ask for examples of what civilization jihad is, halal slaughter is an example.
From Texan Gary Henderson:

RRW Texas suggests that you check your local food stores, (all of them, even those mom and pop convenience stores that are not in prison for food stamp fraud), to see if they sell products certified by the Halal scam. If so, what do they pay for that “privilege”.

We already have the finest food inspection apparatus in the world, and we pay for that with our tax money. What possible reason would cause us to pay additionally for the inferior Halal killing machine.

Where is PETA when you need them? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/outcry-after-undercover-film-exposes-brutality-of-halal-industry-10019467.html

Let the Muslims pay for that.

It is rumored that Halal slaughterhouses often buy meat from non-Halal slaughterhouses and re-sell it as Halal!  Imagine trickery, deception and manipulation and you have Halal certification, all made possible by our federal governments infatuation with the Muslim Brotherhood.

The worldwide Halal racket leaders estimate that they will eventually realize more than one trillion dollars in income, annually, for their efforts. And food products are just one source, cosmetics and other hard goods are also part of the scam.

In Texas, (we receive more immigrants than any other state), pay particular attention to the new Muslim startup areas that are importing Syrians and others to every corner of our fine state. They represent great opportunities for local merchants of every type, and the tax money we pay for these new communities has converted overnight many Texas conservative retailers, “good old boys” who have done business in their towns for generations, into “turn-the-other-cheek” liberals when they see the financial rewards possible for simply changing their stripes.

Keep me advised of the results of your investigations. You can be anonymous if you like or I’ll openly give you credit for your pioneering spirit. As Texans, we need to pay more attention to exposing those forces who are contributing to the demise of our great state and country.

The Days Are Dwindling Down.

Note to our Dallas area reader worried about a Muslim cemetery planned for her town, get in touch with Gary and join others in your state.  You can’t do this alone!
By the way, at one point a reader planned to write a blog on Halal slaughter and the meat industry in America—it is time!

Dallas, TX: Opinion writer calls for more teachers who speak languages other than English and Spanish

Melinda+T.+Cowart+2015
Melinda Cowart is an OpEd Project Public Voices Fellow. Here is a project for one of the great people I met this week in Dallas: find out how to become a ‘Public Voices Fellow’ with an opposing view on immigration!

This is one of the issues we discussed when I was in Dallas this past week—-the huge and growing cost in the educational system where students in the system may speak 50 or more languages because of the Refugee Admissions Program of the UN/US State Dept.  The next time you hear some argument that the diversity of immigrants coming to the US brings strength and helps our economy, remember that those phony economic studies rarely include the cost to educate the children (in dozens and dozens of languages!).
Dallas Morning News from Melinda Cowart, a professor of ESL:

In Texas, speakers of languages other than Spanish represent 14.59 percent of the linguistically diverse student population. Those ELLs speak other languages, including Vietnamese, the third-most common language spoken, Chinese, Arabic and Urdu.

In addition to newcomers who immigrate to the U.S. through Texas each year, refugee resettlement contributes to the vast diversity in the state, especially in or near major cities such as Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin, which tend to be primary refugee resettlement sites. Yet, the schools provide special language programs for speakers of only two of those languages — English and Spanish.  [Get out your wallets!—ed]

By the way, when you read the story about the author’s poor little Chinese child not being allowed to buy milk because she couldn’t speak Spanish or English, I fault Mom.  From my own experience (and assuming the household is an English-speaking one as hers certainly is), I know it’s best to educate a new daughter (or son) at home until their English is pretty good before subjecting them to the confusion of public school in America.  What was this woman thinking?

Note to Texans:  You have got to get the flow of refugees slowed!

New readers:  See my three-part Texas series, beginning here.  BTW, the number one language needed in the Dallas County health department for refugees is Arabic!

Justice Department Inspector General suggests possible misuse of grant money by Catholic Charities San Antonio

The Center for Immigration Studies reported this week on an audit conducted by the Dept. of Justice’s Office of Inspector General of possible improper use by Catholic Charities, a major refugee resettlement contractor in San Antonio, TX, of federal grant money.

Before I get to what Dan Cadman at CIS says about this revelation, readers should know that these government contractors are virtually never audited financially.
I was told when I first began investigating the Refugee Program that they were subjected to “program” audits only, but not financial ones you would expect when this many tax dollars are involved.  What that means is that the non-profit contractor has to report on how well they are doing with their various projects and programs, but not how they spend the money (your money) or where exactly it goes!

It seems to me that a quick and easy amendment to Refugee law would be for Congress to mandate FINANCIAL auditing on a regular basis.

Here is Cadman at CIS:

The Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General (DOJ OIG) released a report this month entitled “Audit of the Office of Justice Programs Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Grant Awarded to Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc., Texas”. The grant was for a substantial amount of money, $810,000, of which $730,491 has already been disbursed, and was intended to further the work of the South Texas Coalition Against Human Trafficking and Slavery (STCAHTS).

According to DOJ OIG, “The objective of this audit was to determine whether costs claimed under the grant were allowable, supported, and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and terms and conditions.” That’s pretty straightforward and seems like a basic requirement given the amount of taxpayer dollars involved.

The DOJ OIG staff found that Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio (CCAOSA) pretty much failed the audit on all counts:

Specifically, CCAOSA: (1) did not follow procedures for identification and procurement of contractors and there were no procedures for monitoring contractors, (2) had unsupported expenditures and drawdowns of $20,363, (3) submitted inaccurate financial reports, and (4) did not maintain supporting documentation for progress reports.

Perhaps such an examination should have occurred before more than 90 percent of the money had been provided, but that’s water under the bridge.

[….]

No amount of cross-checking by subject matter or division (ORR is a part of HHS’s Administration for Children and Families) revealed any audit work done by HHS OIG despite the tens of millions of dollars apportioned, and not just to Catholic Charities, but to a number of both secular and religiously affiliated charities. One wonders at this lapse.

New readers:  See our three-part series on Texas from earlier this week, beginning with Part I here.   Eight of the nine major federal contractors are operating in Texas, the top resettlement state in the nation.
See our previous post this morning on the US Conference of Catholic Bishops migration committee chairman calling for 65,000 Syrians (mostly Muslims to be selected by the UN) to be admitted to the US by President Obama before he leaves office.

Texas: number one refugee resettlement state in the nation (primer part III, what to do!)

Because I’m going to Texas tomorrow, over the last two days I posted a couple of information posts on Texas (see Part I and Part II).  I really only skimmed the surface, but hopefully provided information many of you had not seen before.  But, now I hope that isn’t the end of it!
I believe with all my heart that if we don’t get immigration under control immediately, and I mean both LEGAL and illegal immigration we won’t recognize America in the next decade.  Our unique American culture does matter and western civilization is superior and we are going to have to work to keep it.  You need only look to Europe to see what is in store for us if we don’t get to work now!

Cecilia Munoz, Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett are winning! They are changing America by changing the people. You have 16-17 months to regain control and elect a president willing to turn this around.

So for Texans, and everyone, first find a few like-minded citizens in your state to help you.   Don’t wring your hands if there aren’t a hundred people willing to give up a little time shopping, watching TV or barbecuing, you only need 4 or 5 to begin your community organizing!
Yes, just like the Left, you have to ‘community organize!’  There is no silver bullet to stop this.  It is going to take a lot of plain old hard work!

* I recommend keeping your organization(s) loose.  You don’t need to run right out and try to get a 501(c) IRS designation which will only slow you down.  You don’t need a tax designation to proceed with using your free speech! Come up with a name for the group.  But, don’t discourage others if they want to form their own groups.  The Left does that all the time—2 people here is a group, and three over there!
* Do your homework.  Get the facts about refugee resettlement in your state.  The other side has for years kept this program as secret as they could for a reason.  That reason is that when people learn how it works, they are stunned and they don’t want it!  Knowledge is power.  The refugee industry doesn’t like it when you know how it works!
* In addition to learning how the program works, find out who is pushing refugee resettlement in your community.  Find and expose the elected officials, the business leaders (the Chamber of Commerce!), industry leaders (meatpackers for one!), rich foundations and the church leaders responsible for pouring immigrants into your town or state.  This is one of Barack Obama’s favorite Alinsky rules—the name and shame rule.  We can use it too!
* And, this is my number one harangueYou must have some way of posting or reporting on everything you learn and for that I recommend a blog or website where you can keep an archive of reports and documents as well as the latest news.  Facebook works too, but it is somewhat limiting as some people don’t use facebook.  You need to get your information out around your local media to your people and to new people who join you, or would like to join you, along the way.  And, for goodness sakes, if more than one person in the state wants to maintain a website, go for it!  Many voices are better than one because they can’t then shut you all up!
* But, you must use your local media too!  You need to use every avenue of the media that you possibly can.  Letters-to-the-editor and opinion pieces in local newspapers will get the information outside of your circle.   Local talk radio is great on this subject.
* Look for opportunities to get press—a rally, a guest speaker or even the release of a new report from your group are all reasons to put out press releases.  The goal is to spread the message to ever-widening circles.
* Find someone (or several) in your group willing to be speakers for civic groups around the state.  Develop a power point presentation and take it from town to town speaking to tea parties, American legions, or even rotary clubs.  This is why your facts are so important, especially the economic facts.  People will be really concerned when they see how much of the US Refugee Program is being foisted off on to local taxpayers.
* Elected officials hate noise!  Like it or not, you are going to have to bug every elected official at all levels of government.  Your mayors and city leaders will try to get out of any responsibility claiming this is a federal issue, don’t let them get away with that.  The truth is, if the federal government meets a lot of local organized resistance including from the local elected officials, the feds and their resettlement contractors will move on to other softer targets.
Letters and e-mails to elected officials are not enough anymore. You will have to get in their faces when they are in the district or state, and for goodness sakes get in the faces of the Presidential candidates as they tour the country.  Ask them where they stand on refugee resettlement and other LEGAL immigration programs that have gotten way too large and way too out of control.  Don’t let them get away with that tired old line:  Legal immigration is good, illegal is bad!
And, I am sorry to say, for Texas, your governors and your US Senators for the last decade and more have allowed the immigration mushroom cloud to grow over the state, why?  Why are they willing to see Texas turned BLUE?
* Last but not least, join forces nationally.  Hopefully we will be setting up a data base (state by state) of activists on this issue, so we can connect you within your states, and so we can act swiftly when national action is required.   Stay tuned for more on that.

We are up against a lot of power and a lot of money, but don’t let that discourage you!

Again, if we don’t get immigration under control and soon, nothing else matters!

Don’t be afraid!  Who cares if they call you names!
Calling you names is the only power the other side has over you, take that power away by not cowering to their name-calling!  Consider it a badge of honor if they call you a racist, a xenophobe or an islamophobe!

Editor:  This was not meant to be an exhaustive list of organizing ideas.  If you have others, please send them as comments and I’ll add them here as updates to this post.
