Hudson,Wisconsin Catholic Church asked to resettle five Syrian families in departure from normal resettlement process

First, this proposal to a specific Catholic Church to effectively become a resettlement agency in a town with no resettlement office tells me that the refugee industry is getting desperate.

Frankly, as Congress has not appropriated enough money for Obama’s large refugee numbers for FY17 (already underway) because it has not acted on the budget for the upcoming year, contractors like the US Conference of Catholic Bishops are looking for ways to pawn off some of their responsibilities on, in this case, an individual church.
Members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church are apparently in the process of deciding if they will take responsibility for five (most likely Muslim since 99% of the Syrians entering the US now are Muslims) families.  (I saw this story almost a week ago, so maybe they have already decided.)

st-patrick-hudson
US Conference of Catholic Bishops attempting to get the most bang for their federal bucks by not opening an office while turning over responsibility for Syrian families to a specific church.

This is a huge undertaking. I watched as a church near where I live in 2007 took on the responsibility for one family and it was an enormous chore that didn’t end well.  My local story is a long story, but members of St. Patricks must be prepared for many duties not the least of which is shuttling refugees in their own cars to myriad appointments (doctors, schools, social service departments) and often to jobs for months (one of the first things volunteers ultimately become weary of!).
And, one of the other things that volunteers tire of is the lack of appreciation some ethnic groups of refugees show for volunteers.  I can’t say that will happen here, but the fun and excitement of taking care of Africans and Middle Easterners wears thin when the refugees act entitled.
One more thing before I get to the story:  Hudson, Wisconsin is on the border of Minnesota. Normally a federal contractor has an office within a hundred miles of where it places the refugees, but the three offices maintained by the Bishops in Wisconsin (Greenbay, Sheboygan, and Milwaukee) are all hundreds of miles away.  However, the USCCB office in St. Paul, Minnesota is only 18 miles from Hudson so I assume that out-of-state office will be sending the federal money to St. Patrick’s.  My first thought is that the USCCB is now making decisions from over the border in Minnesota for what happens in another state.
Here is the news from the Hudson Star-Observer:

Rev. John Gerritts and St. Patrick’s Church received a call from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for the parish to assist with the resettlement of five Syrian refugee families from a camp in Turkey to Hudson. The church has not yet made a decision.

The conference is one of several organizations that helps with the federal government’s refugee resettlement program. Through the program, the U.S. will admit 85,000 refugees this year [reporter has it wrong, that was FY16, the number for FY17 is 110,000—ed] , according to the U.S. State Department.

These five refugee families have been vetted by the government and approved for resettlement in the United States, a process that can take between 18 and 24 months, Gerritts explained.

hudson-map
Hudson is right across the state line from a huge resettlement area (mostly Somali refugee resettlement) in Minnesota.

“It’s quite thorough and lengthy,” Gerritts said. “They are fully approved to move here. This is working through the government.”

Hudson was selected as the families’ new home because they indicated they had a relative in Hudson during the vetting process. [One relative and five families are coming? Sounds fishy—ed]

Whether or not these five refugee families come to Hudson is not up to the church, as they have already been approved by the federal government. Instead St. Patrick’s is being asked to be a resource to spearhead the resettlement.

[….]

Usually, after a location for resettlement is determined, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops will reach out to an agency in the area that specializes in resettlement. The Hudson community does not have an agency like this, so instead St. Patrick’s has been asked to assist. St. Patrick’s is one of the first parishes in the country who have been asked to take on this role.

[….]

St. Patrick’s would not bear any of the financial cost for these services. The church would be responsible for disbursing the government funding provided for refugee resettlement.

For the full story, go here.
LOL! Parishioners at St. Patrick’s better get that in writing and the town of Hudson’s elected officials are presumably being briefed because there will be many costs to local taxpayers!
For new readers in Wisconsin, see our ‘Ten things your town needs to know’ by clicking here. It is not just one Catholic parish that will be impacted by the decision, but the whole town!  If you don’t like what is happening be sure to let Speaker Paul Ryan hear from you!

Two federal refugee contractors have close ties to ISNA (Muslim Brotherhood USA)

First check out what Discover the Networks says about the Islamic Society of North America here. ISNA was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in America in 1981.

kurtzlocalpress-11-21-13-s
Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, KY is the present President of the USCCB. His term ends next month. Louisville is a big refugee resettlement site. One year ago Kurtz called for the US government to bring in 200,000 refugees, 100,000 Syrians. Catholics should question the Bishops’ involvement with ISNA. http://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/us-bishops-urge-action-on-syrian-crisis

Then go here and see ISNA’s list of groups it considers its allies, its interfaith partners (hat tip: Brenda). Two of nine federal resettlement contractors are partners, but see if your ‘faith’ group is a partner as well.

Church World Service
Founded in 1946, Church World Service (CWS) is the relief, development, and refugee assistance ministry of 35 Protestant, Orthodox, and Anglican denominations in the United States. Working in partnership with indigenous organizations in more than 80 countries, CWS works worldwide to meet human needs and foster self-reliance for all whose way is hard. ISNA works with Church World Service on issues of global poverty issues.

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is an assembly of the Catholic Church hierarchy who work together to unify, coordinate, promote, and carry on Catholic activities in the United States and to organize and conduct religious, charitable, educational and social welfare work at home and abroad. The bishops are served by a staff of over 350 lay people, priests, deacons, and religious. The relationship between the USCCB and ISNA dates back to the 1990s, when they began the Midwest Muslim-Catholic Dialogue. The USCCB is an Executive Committee member of Shoulder-to-Shoulder.

Would someone tell Archbishop Kurtz that 99% of the Syrians being admitted in to the US right now are Muslims! Or, maybe he doesn’t care?

Silencing Catholics! Migration pays, pro-life pays nothing!

Don’t miss this excellent article at One News Now (hat tip: Joanne) suggesting the Bishops have sold out Catholic principles for pay days.

Elizabeth Yore, an attorney and international child rights advocate, argues that money is the real issue at hand here.

“Migration pays very well – pro-life pays nothing,” Yore told LifeSiteNews before noting that the Obama administration has given thousands of federal grants and contracts to the Catholic Church, including many grants this fiscal year for hundreds of millions of dollars to the USCCB, Catholic Charities, CRS and the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC).

Just so you know. Here is how much of your money funded the US Conference of Catholic Bishops Migration Fund in 2014 (from their 2014 annual report):

screenshot-54
Our Founding Fathers must be spinning in their graves, especially Thomas Jefferson (who understood Islam). Here we are, US taxpayers, paying millions of dollars each year to the Catholic Church to import Muslims to our towns.  Federal grants and travel loans (above) are all your money!

Feds tickled, just short of 85,000 refugee ceiling for FY 2016 achieved, more "clients" on the way this week

Voice of America has a wrap-up article for the FY16 UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program (saves us looking up the numbers). What tickled me was the US Conference of Catholic Bishops head lobbyist referring to refugees as their “clients.” We’ve been telling you that this is a business—big business—a several $ billion a year business.
Voice of America:

WASHINGTON —The United States narrowly missed its refugee cap for the fiscal year, closing out 12 months of political turbulence over admissions policies just five people short of the administration’s target of 85,000.

Special Event: on “Common ground for the common good” (to mark the concluding day of the World Interfaith Harmony Week (1–7 February 2012), as proclaimed by General Assembly resolution 65/5 (A/RES/65/5)) (organized by the Office of the President of the General Assembly, in cooperation with the NGO Community at the United Nations Bill Canny - Catholic RElief Services
Bill Caney (at the UN) is the head honcho for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Here he confirms for us what we knew—refugees are “clients” because this is a business, a lucrative one! The USCCB is paid by the head for each refugee it resettles, so this has been a good year financially.

State Department data as of midnight October 1, the start of the 2017 fiscal year and the reset point for the government’s financial calendar, is the closest the refugee program has come to meeting the presidentially established limit in 24 years. [You knew they would bring them in here fast and not thoroughly vetted because Obama had to speed up his seeding plan—ed]

Among the largest groups of refugees this year were more than 12,500 Syrians, following a self-declared goal by the administration last September to admit at least 10,000 people fleeing civil war and Islamic State violence there.

Refugee Arrivals to the U.S. for FY2016

Dem. Rep. Congo: 16,370
Syria: 12,587
Myanmar: 12,347
Iraq: 9,880
Somalia: 9,020
Bhutan: 5,817
Iran: 3,750
Afghanistan: 2,737
Ukraine: 2,543

Refugee and resettlement officials told VOA last week that travel for some refugees who were scheduled to arrive by the end of September was postponed because the limit had been met. A State Department spokesperson did not confirm how many refugees were affected, but said that those who were delayed would be included in the coming fiscal year, which begins October 1.  [See our post of a week ago about the “ceiling” each year—ed]

Our additional “clients” will be arriving shortly says USCCB honcho!

“We understand that some clients may be held back these days and booked immediately in October. Thus, we expect no effect on clients,” said Bill Canny, who heads migration and refugee services for one of the country’s longest-serving resettlement agencies, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

More resettlement cities have been chosen….

anne-richard-in-black
Anne Richard, Asst. Sec. of State for PRM and a former VP at a federal contractor (International Rescue Committee) is delighted to report that they have secretly chosen more towns in which to place refugees (they have 350 towns already) she says.

The article also says that the largest category for FY17 (for the first time) will be the Near East and South Asia category.  We will be taking 40,000 of those.  (Near East and South Asia includes: Afghanistan, Bhutan/Nepal, Iran, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Syria.)
Anne Richard, Asst. Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration, reported to VOA on the growing number of cities that will ‘welcome’ refugees!  We knew that!***

Richard also said the number of cities where refugees are resettled in the U.S. is “likely to grow” in the coming months. Programs are already in place in roughly 350 cities in nearly every state.

The refugee industry’s lobbying arm weighed in with this:

Naomi Steinberg, director of Refugee Council USA, an advocacy group for 22 NGOs that work in refugee resettlement, said that what stood out for her after what she called “a difficult year of nasty political rhetoric” is that the U.S. continued a “proud tradition” of welcoming those fleeing persecution.

We know that as loud as those anti-refugee voices are, that they are still in the minority,” said Steinberg.

Please get your testimony off to Senator Sessions today or at the latest tomorrow!  Let Sessions know that Ms. Steinberg is blowing smoke!
***These are the new towns/cities we have learned about so far (we have heard that there are 47 new ones!). The selection process is mostly done quietly and out of public view.

Comment worth noting: NY state reader is one heckuva brave guy!

Editor: This is a comment I received from a reader, Sergeant Joe Moran, who lives in New York state. I’m not posting it because I want you to see his praise of my work here, but because of his bravery!  How many of us would have the guts to confront a Catholic priest (or a pastor) during mass?
This is posted with permission from Sergeant Moran. It is slightly edited to make it easier to read.  (I added paragraph breaks and spelled out some abbreviations.)

Hi Ann, Just wanted to thank you for your extraordinary work informing the public on the influx of refugees pouring into our country. I myself was a NYPD Forensics Sergeant assigned to the Bellevue Morgue in NYC during the 9/11/01 WTC Terror Attacks; going through what seemed like an endless eternity of body parts.

wall-of-prayers
After 911: Helping people find their loved ones was a daunting task…..

I also worked with members of law enforcement (NYPD, State Police, & FBI-Famous but incompetent). I can unequivocally tell you within these mosques, the imams were preaching nothing but hate and vitriol towards America and the citizenry within the USA.

I now reside in upstate New York, the fresh country air nourishes my lungs, which were effected by the pollutants and contaminants in the air the day of 911 WTC terrorists attacks. I’m active with the Republican party and the (USCC) Upstate Conservative Club Coalition. The only ones within these organizations who seemed to be privy to the refugee chicanery or sophistry were members of the John Birch Society, none of the others realized the magnitude or depth the refugee crisis, which is having such deleterious effect on our culture and country.

I have to applaud your courage and temerity, shining the light on such a dark axiom; that average Americans don’t have a clue. Ann you truly are an oracle of truth, and are extremely brave and courageous! Thanks to you I now know that Catholic Charities under the auspices of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops is an active agent saboteur working in tandem with the State Department and the UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees), getting paid federal US tax payer dollars completing their pseudo-philanthropic mission; which in my opinion is tantamount to treason against the USA.

The knowledge you convey to me gave the courage to stand for the truth.

I happened to be attending a mass at a Catholic Church within my neighborhood. The priest giving the sermon is an ultra liberal Anti-American zealot. He started to spout off that America should be ashamed for not admitting more refugees into country. He stated we have the personnel and resources to do so; and we don’t want to treat them like the Native American Indians, we killed all of them, he said.

That’s when I got up from my pew and proceeded to approach the front alter and politely interjected myself in to the sermon. I introduced myself as retired NYPD 911 WTC Responder Sergeant Joe Moran. I looked the priest directly into his eyes and said he was totally out of his area of expertise and couldn’t be more wrong. He replied back in an acrimonious tone: I’m not wrong and how dare I interrupt his mass.

I stated that I had every right to do so under the first amendment and this was not his mass, its our mass (the congregants and parishioners)! I told him that he was pontificating nothing but feel good politically correct propaganda for his own sinful self-righteous pride and he needs to go to confession for his lies; because he is letting the wolves right into his flock. I told him he wasn’t being a Good Shepard or sheep herder.

Then I went on to quote Abraham Lincoln ” Those who don’t stand up and speak the truth for the way the truth should be told makes cowards out of all of us”! I told the priest he is being cowardice for his own sinful self-righteous pride and emphasized that in light of recent events like the San Bernardino attacks he should be having a moment of prayer and silence for the victims of that horrendous act of terror.

Then I stated what is of paramount importance is the safety and security of the USA and its citizenry within and went back to my pew.

That following Sunday I had The Saratoga Springs Police at my door. With that said, Ann I want to thank you for dispensing and giving me the knowledge and courage to stand up for the righteous cause. Thanks for your courage and conviction. I pray for your safety and well being often.

Sincerely, Retired NYPD 911 WTC Responder Sergeant Joseph Patrick Moran.

Thank YOU, Sergeant Joseph Patrick Moran!
A google search of Sgt. Joe Moran turned up this story.

Mormons helping Catholic Bishops change America with Muslim refugees, go figure?

Don’t ask me why. Don’t ask me why Mormons want to change Utah and America. Don’t ask me if the Mormons have run out of poor Americans to help. Don’t ask me if the Mormons know that almost all Syrians coming to the US are Muslims. Don’t ask me if they know that Syrians and Somalis can’t be properly vetted. Don’t ask me why the Catholic bishops don’t insist on resettling persecuted Christians.  It is all a great mystery.

What isn’t a great mystery is that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops Migration and Refugee Services is 97% taxpayer funded.

Does it need the Mormon money too? (I guess you can never have enough money.)
Here is the good news for the Bishops from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

WASHINGTON (CNS) — The U.S. bishops’ Migration and Refugee Services is receiving a $1.25 million grant from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to aid in its refugee resettlement efforts once the newcomers arrive in the United States.

bill-canny
Bill Canny heads the USCCB Washington office. http://www.usccb.org/news/2015/15-078.cfm

The Mormons, as the denomination’s adherents are popularly known, have refugee processing capabilities overseas, said MRS executive director Bill Canny, but do not offer domestic resettlement services.

Canny told Catholic News Service that this is the first time in memory that the Mormons have made such a gift to an agency within the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, although Catholic Relief Services, the U.S. bishops’ overseas aid and development organization, has received grants from the Mormons dating to the Ethiopian famine more than 30 years ago.

Grants of this nature, of this size, Canny added, don’t often happen, “not often enough.”

Canny said the Mormons had conducted a successful fundraising drive to aid Syrian refugees. Afterward, “they then approached nine resettlement agencies***, offering each of them a gift to help with resettling refugees currently. So they got in touch with us as one of the resettlement agencies. We began to discuss how to distribute the money and the in-kind goods, and we wrote a small project for them, and they agreed to it and gave us the go-ahead.”

Of the $1.25 million, $425,000 is in cash while the remaining $800,000 is an in-kind contribution from the Mormons, according to Canny.

***Since I’ve been writing about the taxpayer funding that the resettlement contractors received in 2014, here is what the US Bishops got.  Screenshot of page 10 from their Annual Report for 2014 (maybe they have a Form 990, but I can’t readily find one).

If you are checking my math, you need to add the federal grants line to the travel loan collection fees because those fees are really your money too.  The contractors collect the airfare loan money (that you loaned the refugees) and keep a cut of it for themselves. The loan money does not all return to the US Treasury.
By the way, individual Catholic Charities may be getting additional federal/state or local grants.  I suggest you visit USA Spending.gov and look up your local Catholic diocese or Catholic Charities. Click here. You will be amazed at what you find.
Previously I reported that Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service is 95% funded by you, and USCRI, another of the nine federal contractors, is 97% funded by you.
Cut off their federal funding and they would be out of business!
