Washington: Iraqi refugee skips out of country days before rape trial

Here we go again….
Disgusting news (that doesn’t fit the Left’s narrative!) from World Net Daily‘s Leo Hohmann:

A 49-year-old Iraqi refugee who came to the U.S. in 2003 has fled the country 48 hours before he was to stand trial in Kennewick, Washington, for allegedly raping a grade-school girl.

Where is alleged child molester Khalid Fathey?

Khalid Fathey reportedly boarded a flight for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Authorities issued a nationwide arrest warrant this week after he failed to show at his Benton County Superior Court trial, a local newspaper reported.

The U.S. Marshals Service then discovered that Fathey left Seattle on July 23 on a plane bound for Dubai, Anita Petra, deputy county prosecutor, told the Tri-Cities Herald.

She did not know if it was a one-way or round trip ticket. Either way, the cost would have been substantial but authorities haven’t said if they believe someone helped him get away.

Fathey was set free on a personal recognizance bond after he was charged with the sex crimes in May 2015. Having been in the country since 2003 he would have at least had a green card, which affords permanent resident status, but likely had full U.S. citizenship. Refugees qualify for full citizenship after five years.

Go here for the whole sordid tale.  And, learn more about the massive number of Iraqis we have been admitting to the US.
Don’t hold your breath that this will ever make the national news.

Judge releases Somali 'asylum seeker' even though ORR said he was an adult, not a teen

Wow! Check out this story from Seattle—first, because it gives us a few clues about Unaccompanied Alien Minors, not all from Central America and Mexico, who know how to game the system, and secondly because here we see that the Office of Refugee Resettlement is trying to ferret out frauds among the ‘children’ only to be thwarted by a judge.

Judge Pechman
The lower court judge ruled and Judge Pechman affirmed that a scientific bone density scan couldn’t be used to show that the illegal alien Somali was a teen or not. Photo: https://vimeo.com/77379343

Gosh, does this mean the Somali, who could be an adult, will be sent back to hang out in high school?
Sure looks like he was returned to foster care (and presumably high school) according to another article at The Seattle Times.

Message to all young men from around the world who want to break into America, get rid of your passports and any other identification before you arrive at the border and then lie, lie, lie!

From the Seattle Globalist:

A judge affirmed a ruling this week that federal immigration officials unlawfully used a dental exam to determine that a teenaged Somali asylum seeker was an adult, and wrongly detained him in the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma.

The teenager, identified in court documents by his initials B.I.C., had entered the United States in August 2015 and applied for asylum as a minor. He was issued a special immigrant juvenile visa and sent to live with a foster mother in Portland. However, in December the Office of Refugee Resettlement said that based on a dental bone scan, they no longer believed that he was a minor.

The teenager had traveled through South and Central America in order to reach the United States, and had destroyed his identification documents so he would not get sent back to Somalia, according to the court filings, so he had no documentation for his age. [So, he committed fraud by destroying his ID papers!—ed]

With the dental bone scan as the only piece of evidence that he was an adult, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested the teenager from his high school near Portland and took him to the Northwest Detention Center in December.

He was released after two months, after the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project filed a suit seeking the teenager’s release. Chief Magistrate Judge James Donahue ruled that using a bone density scan as the sole piece of evidence of someone’s age violates federal law and that the teenager should be freed.

Donahue’s recommendation was adopted this week by U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman, who also threw out ORR’s determination that he was an adult when he was first taken into custody.

According to The Seattle Times story he will be released from foster care when he turns 18 (whenever that is, or was), but what next? Does he just disappear into the American Somali community? Or, will the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project take responsibility for him? (surely not!)  Or, better still, maybe the good judge will take him in!

Seattle has a commission on refugees and immigrants, November meeting coming up

A reader has brought to my attention that there are opportunities for concerned citizens to attend meetings where you can learn more about what is going on where you live and who the principle players are (who are the people in your community calling the shots).
No rent hikes!  What do you think?  Are they getting community organizing training somewhere? You betcha!

See our post last year where Somali community organizers protested an effort by the Seattle housing authority to free up some public housing for 9,000 on a waiting list. The housing authority failed. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/12/19/seattle-housing-crisis-pay-attention-refugee-welcoming-cities/

In Seattle there is the Immigrant and Refugee Commission.  Here is the meeting schedule for the two remaining meetings this year.  Surely they will be discussing how many Syrians will be seeded in Seattle.
In the last few days we reported on opportunities here in Orlando, FL (one of our readers attended!  thank you!) and here in Minneapolis, MN to attend PUBLIC meetings to learn more about what is happening where you live.  To be effective in standing up for your community, you need to understand how refugee resettlement works and who the players are where you live.

Tuesday is world TB Day: most cases in US arise in refugee and immigrant communities

This is an article from Washington state where they say their TB rate has dropped slightly in the last year.

From the Bonney Lake Courier Herald:

Washington has had a slight decline in tuberculosis (TB) cases in 2014 but state and local public health officials are still on high alert when it comes to this disease. TB is second only to HIV/AIDS as the greatest infectious killer worldwide.

[….]

“Tuberculosis remains a disease of concern internationally and in Washington,” State Communicable Disease Epidemiologist Dr. Scott Lindquist said. “TB can be diagnosed, treated, and cured, yet it takes real commitment and effort to effectively deal with this disease.”

[….]

Drug-resistant TB continues to be a serious public health threat in Washington. This variation requires longer treatment periods with drugs that are more expensive. In 2014, 20 cases reported to the state health department were resistant to one or more drugs currently used as a first line of treatment for TB; two were multi-drug resistant. Infection control procedures must be in place in hospitals or health care settings to prevent exposure to this disease and keep it from spreading.

TB rates are often higher among racial and ethnic groups. In 2014, 72.5 percent of cases in the state were in people born outside the U.S. or its territories. In 2014, 43.5 percent of all cases in Washington were among Asians, followed by Hispanics (15.5 percent), blacks (15.5 percent), and whites (11.9 percent). Between 2012 and 2014 the greatest risk of TB in Washington was among Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander communities (27.7 cases per 100,000).

27 students and teachers have tested positive for TB in one Kansas City, MO high school. No word on who Patient Zero might be, see the story here.

World Relief: Spokane, Washington on the list to get Syrians in the new fiscal year

The new year for the next batch of 100,000 (maybe 200,000 this year counting the Unaccompanied alien children) refugees, asylees, and assorted others the  US State Department and Office of Refugee Resettlement and their nine contractors*** “welcome” to America begins in 6 days.

Mark Kadel, Director of World Relief, Spokane, WA: “…we’ve already been assured that we’ll receive a number of Syrians.” Photo: http://truthatlas.com/mark-kadel-director-of-world-relief-spokane-wa/

Here is a story from Spokane where World Relief (Evangelicals) reports on a new family of Iraqis coming from Syria.

From KXLY.com:

SPOKANE, Wash. –

With the situation in Syria continuing to spiral out of control, between the threat of ISIS and an ongoing civil war, a family originally from Iraq and took refuge in Damascus will arrive in Spokane night.

The State Department reports half of Syria’s population has fled their homes because of the crisis, with thousands of people pouring over the Turkish border seeking refuge each day.

In addition to the Iraqi family arriving from Syria, World Relief Spokane says a Syrian family will be coming in the next couple months with many more to follow.

[….]

World Relief is one of nine organizations contracted by the State Department to resettle refugees that are legally invited to be part of the country. The Spokane office takes anywhere from 500 to 600 refugees a year.

[….]

The State Department estimates that 1,800 people will come to the U.S. from Syria in 2015, with some of them moving to the Inland Northwest.

We have learned that the US will be getting Syrian numbers on par with the numbers we have taken from Iraq (that would be close to 20,000 a year!), here, so when they say 1,800 above, I’m guessing someone left out a zero.

So far we have had reports that Syrians will go to North Carolina and Ohio.  Add Washington State.

The federal migrant resettlement contractors which we have followed for years:
