Israel: Climate refugees are coming! Close the borders!

I can think of a lot more pressing reasons for Israel to close its borders, but climate change works.

I hadn’t seen any ‘climate refugee’ stories lately (but I kind of thought the “crisis” had gone away!).   This is a very worthwhile read from the Jerusalem Post in which the “deterioration” of Africa is discussed.   In the US, mainstream environmental advocates (so entwined with the hard Left) would never use saving the environment of the homeland (or saving the country!) as a reason to close the borders.

JPost:

In order to combat increased waves of illegal migration that will likely accompany climate change, Israel must secure its borders through impassable barriers, including “sea fences” along the Mediterranean and Red Sea, experts have concluded.

“The lack of water, warming and sea level rise, even if it will occur on a different schedule, will bring migration movements from all impoverished regions to every place where it is possible to escape this,” wrote a team of academics, led by Prof. Arnon Soffer and Dr. Anton Berkovsky of the University of Haifa’s Geography Department.

The team’s conclusions appeared in just one “geo-strategy” chapter in a nearly 200-page report of recommendations toward adapting to climate change, submitted collectively by about 100 experts at the Israel Climate Change Knowledge Center to Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan on Monday.

Be sure to let the snakes through!

Among its suggestions for how to handle the geo-strategic implications of climate change, the team led by Soffer called for a complete enclosure of Israel from all directions, including establishing sea fences along the Mediterranean and Red seas. In addition, the experts said that additional law enforcement will be required to deal with the ramifications of securing the Egyptian and Jordanian borders, as economic crisis might ensue for Negev Beduins who trade across these turfs. While securing Israel from all sides, however, the authorities must ensure for the safe passage of animals and plants.  [Snakes needing free passage are mentioned later in the article—ed].

“The migration wave is not a problem for the future. It is today, it is going on now,” Soffer told The Jerusalem Post on Monday evening. “It will just increase from day to day.”

Read the article.  There is some discussion about how European countries are ruthlessly turning back immigrants, but frankly I don’t see that.  Heck, just as one example, Africans are landing on Malta it seems every day—some are then being moved on to other European countries (here is one story about France giving the red carpet treatment to new French voters from Malta).

Minneapolis: Somalis protest at Wells Fargo Bank, joined by Latinos

Readers may recall that the US Government has stopped money transfers to the Horn of Africa for fear the funds (likely garnered through our welfare system) are getting into the hands of the Islamists.

From CBS Minnesota:

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Dozens of Somalis in the Twin Cities are being joined by members of the area’s Latino community to protest their inability to transfer money back home to their loved ones.

A group of protestors gathered at the Wells Fargo Bank at 6th and Marquette in Mineapolis, threatening to close their accounts due to the bank’s alleged failure to restart money transfers to their families back home.

Ibrahim Nsur of Minneapolis said he was part of the delegation trying to solve the problem earlier this year, but he was treated with disrespect by bank executives.

“When they sat down with us, they told us they are not interested in doing this business,” said Nsur. “They did not tell us the real reason.”

However, Wells Fargo regional spokesperson Peggy Gunn says the decision to stop transfers to Somali is due to U.S. Federal Government regulations, and that this had been explained to their customers.

So close your account.

ECDC: We want money even when refugee flows are low

ECDC is the Ethiopian Community Development Council, Inc,* one of the top federal refugee contractors, here  (oh funny, I see we lost two contractors recently, the number had been 11).  A representative from this organization testified last week at the State Department meeting and although I couldn’t understand his verbal testimony, his written testimony has several interesting nuggets of information.  One nugget, which I hope to get to in the next few days, involves a pitch to take so-called “refugees” from the Rainbow Nation—that supposed heaven-on-Earth called South Africa.  Who knew that blacks could be xenophobic!

We want to be paid no matter how many refugees we resettle!

Readers, I have reported on many occasions that one of many flaws in this program is that the resettlement contractors are paid by the head to resettle refugees, so when the flow slows, as it is right now (due to extra security measures being put in place), the agencies have to (boo hoo) let people go.   It was before my time, but I am told that immediately following 9/11 the flow was cut dramatically, but these “non-profit” contractors managed to wrangle money out of the federal government anyway to pay themselves salaries until the spigot opened again.

Here, the representative from ECDC asks for your tax dollars again, even if work has slowed.   (I have broken his long paragraph into smaller ones so you can read it easier, and added emphasis—ed)

Administrative Floor Funding for Domestic Resettlement

ECDC recommends that PRM fund local resettlement agencies at 100 percent of approved capacity. Within the last two fiscal years, partly due to the Inter-Agency Check (IAC) [involves security—ed] holds, the resettlement program has encountered significantly lower than expected arrivals.  Because local resettlement agencies are reimbursed on per capita arrivals, they have been unable to pay for administrative expenses, including staff.

While some agencies have used reserve funds and have been able to garner additional private resources, in the reality of continued low arrivals, these funding sources have been exhausted.  [This program was never intended to be fully funded by the feds (by you)! The public-private partnership meant that the “non-profits” were to raise lots of money on their own!—ed*] Consequently, many agencies have laid off staff.  When agencies do receive arrivals, they are not fully prepared to serve them with limited employees.  They must quickly hire new case management staff who may not receive the benefit of robust, extended training.

US refugee arrivals fluctuate widely from month-to-month and year-to-year, making it nearly impossible for local agencies to have a solid infrastructure in place at all times that can readily adapt and provide quality Reception and Placement services. With full funding, local resettlement agencies are able to maintain continuity in their respective administrative and staffing capacities to resettle refugees, despite unanticipated and uneven arrival patterns. [So, they can sit around in offices collecting a salary even if no refugees are coming?—ed]. It is in the best interest of refugees that local offices be equipped and ready at all times to offer high-quality resettlement.

* Now check out their most recent Form 990, here.   They took in $13 million in that year and $11 million came from you!  They have a couple of 6-figure salaries they have to maintain too.

All this would be solved if we took these contractors out of this business.  The complaints that we see on the local level are related to contractors wanting more warm bodies to resettle and then three months later turning those people over to local government to care for!

Report: Nine Somalis deported from the US, returned to Mogadishu?

If this story is true, I am blown away!   And, if it’s true these must be some really bad dudes because we have been too wussy to deport to Somalia (and the UN would be screaming bloody murder and calling us names).

If it’s true, is the Obama Administration keeping it quiet for some reason—don’t want to scare the public about who is here among us already?

From a not well-known publication (and I searched to find this two-week-old story at a recognized media outlet but couldn’t find it):

(Medeshi )- April 16,2012 – Nine Somalis deported from the US arrived at Mogadishu airport on Monday morning . They were immediately searched thoroughly by the security forces and put under investigation .

The Somali minister of Interior , Abdisamad Mualin told VOA Somali news that “ these people that have been returned from the US will be investigated for security reasons before they are released to the city “ . The minister continued that “the nine Somalis will be investigated for any criminal records or terrorist activities before they are released into the public“ .

The reason for the deportation by the US of these nine persons who are all male is not known. Many European countries have also recently declared that they will return to Somalia those that they don’t want to stay in their countries.

Back in March we had this fishy story about how the Obama Administration was going to deport an entire Somali family as part of their campaign to generate sympathy for those who might be deported.  But, the nine supposedly deported earlier this month are all men, not a family.

Tennessee Somali sex trafficking trial points to immigration fraud truth

And, that immigration fraud could end up causing the prosecutors to lose this case.

I haven’t seen the very latest on the trial that was supposed to wrap up yesterday, but here is an AP story from Thursday.  At least from this report it doesn’t look like a guilty verdict for at least the CHILD sex trafficking charges can hold up:

Jennifer Thompson, defense attorney for Idris Ibrahim Fahra, said Jane Doe No. 2 was a runaway who manipulated people around her and was fed information from a St. Paul police investigator.

Only when the witness got into trouble, “that’s when she plays the victim card,” Thompson argued.

She pointed out the witness, also Somali, doesn’t know her age because her birth certificate was faked. [and, the US State Department never found that out before they let her (and the men too) and thousands like them into the US!—ed]

Thompson contended Jane Doe No. 2 was “a grown-up” as old or older than the men she was having sex with.

Let me put this the way the Left would put it—Somalis come from a culture that condones lying (ie. it is not their fault, their culture makes them do it).

A reminder:  as many as 36,000 Africans (mostly Somalis) entered the US by lying about family relationships

Back in 2008 the US State Department discovered wide-spread fraud in the so-called P-3 family reunification program mostly involving Somalis.  Surprise! They lied about family connections.  Here, officials put the estimate of fraudulent entries between the years 2003 and 2008 at 36,000!

So, in fact, we don’t know who these people are who are on trial in Tennessee let alone their birth dates.

For all of our earlier posts on the Tennessee case, type “Somali sex trafficking” into our search function.

For new readers: see the sidebar where it says “top posts” and today there are 8 of 12 top posts on Somalis.  Our top post, probably of all time, is the one about how we got so many Somalis (a post with over 21,000 readers).  And, by the way, the years we permitted the largest number of Somalis to enter the US are three years following 9/11 (2004, 2005, 2006…all Bush years).
