First Syrians headed to Hanover, Germany

Editor’s note:  Readers, I’ve been out of commission for a few days.  I am just now trying to catch up on refugee news, so there may be other more interesting or pressing refugee/immigration issues that have happened in my absence but I am reporting as I come across alerts in my e-mail.  If you have sent me a good post idea, I should find it eventually, but don’t hesitate to resend it now!

This story from Germany is all over the news for the past few days.  One story along these same lines says that if the US would strike Syria militarily, it would create even more refugees and that makes sense to me.

Syrians arriving in Hanover this week.

Here is the news from Germany.  One of the things that interests me about this is that these refugees are not going permanently to Germany, but it is understood from the beginning that this is a temporary arrangement.

Remember there have been demonstrations by some Germans against more asylum seekers entering the country.

From AP at The Times-Standard:

GENEVA—Germany’s relocation program for Syrian refugees is getting under way with 107 people gaining temporary new homes, U.N. officials said Tuesday.

The first group to be relocated under a German program for up to 5,000 Syrian refugees includes “women and girls at risk, people with serious medical conditions, survivors of torture or others with special needs,” said U.N. refugee agency spokeswoman Melissa Fleming.

Unlike the makeshift arrangements for most of the 2 million refugees that have fled Syria into neighboring countries, the program announced by Germany in March gives them the right to work under two-year residence permits that could be extended if Syria’s crisis remains unchanged.

In that regard, Germany currently has the world’s largest such relocation program for Syrian refugees, “setting an important example” for other nations, Fleming said

The first group of 107 Syrian refugees is due to leave Lebanon on Wednesday and head to Hannover, Germany, where the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, known as the U.N. refugee agency, will help them on arrival. From there the refugees are being transferred to an accommodation center in Friedland, in Lower Saxony, where they are to stay for 14 days.

During that time, they will get oriented to their new culture, including basic language training, how the schools and health works, and help in interacting with local authorities, Fleming said. After that they will leave for temporary homes across Germany, mostly small centers or apartments where they have access to schools, medical facilities and social services.

The pressure is now on the rest of the West.

Mexican newspaper claims 260% jump in number of asylum requests in US

Here is Breitbart:

A report from the Mexican newspaper El Universal states that the number of asylum claims by Mexican nationals in fiscal year 2013 so far has jumped 260% over the entire year of 2012. This provides another confirmation of the story about the flood of Mexican asylum claims that Breitbart News broke nationally two weeks ago.

Why is this happening?

Breitbart:

The increases seem to come from both heavier drug cartel violence and a change in policy by the Obama administration…The new Obama policy sets asylum claimants free on their own recognizance by default.

….and, coaching by open borders advocates and lawyers!

Our previous coverage of this scam is here and here.

For new readers:  “Refugees” are supposedly persecuted people that the UN and the State Department select abroad and fly to the US and resettle in your cities with the help of the refugee contractors.   They are legally allowed to access welfare and are financially supported largely by you, the taxpayer.

“Asylum-seekers” get here on their own steam and then claim to be persecuted for their political beliefs, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation (nothing about fear of crime in a country that should be able to protect its own people) and must prove they are persecuted to become “asylees” who are then also eligible for certain social services.  The Boston Bomber family had been granted asylum.

Mexicans who get in now using this asylum claim won’t be granted asylum, but that doesn’t matter, they are in now (feet firmly planted in the US) and ready to reap the benefits of the hoped-for amnesty coming from Republicans and Obama.

Valerie Jarrett: Obamacare and Immigration Reform will bring fundamental change to America

Editors note:  I posted this today at Potomac Tea Party Report and have slightly modified the introduction.

We know how detrimental these two laws (of course one is not yet a law) will be to America, so how come the ruling class Republicans don’t get it!

At Potomac Tea Party Report I’ve called Jarrett the “Rasputin” of the Obama Administration and have many posts, click here, on who she is and how she operates.

Valerie ‘Rasputin’ Jarrett: Obamacare and Immigration Reform will be OUR crowning achievements!

We haven’t heard much from her lately.  There was some speculation that she was calling the shots that terrible night in Benghazi and so she has been hiding out ever since.

Here she is front and center making it very clear that ‘Comprehensive immigration reform’ is an Obama plan (so hey, McCain, Graham, Rubio, Ryan and Boehner why hand him this victory?).

From the Daily Caller:

Valerie Jarrett, one of President Barack Obama’s top deputies, said Tuesday that immigration reform would be as important to the country’s future as Obamacare.

“It will be a landmark piece of legislation,” she told a videotaped meeting of progressive allies in a building alongside the White House.

“Together with the Affordable Care Act — two major pieces of legislation — that when we look back 50 years from now, I think we will all just be extremely proud,” said Jarrett.

Jarrett’s close relationship to Obama was underlined by her repeated use of the first-person plural. “We are confident that with everybody making [immigration] a priority, it will in fact pass, and we will sign it into law,” she said.

Jarrett’s pairing of Obamacare and immigration echoes her critics, who say the immigration rewrite is an effort by Democrats to gain political supremacy by adding tens of millions of Democrat-leaning immigrants to election rolls after 2020.

“Politically, pairing them in her mind suggests that the administration sees both pieces of administration as transformative,” said Mark Krikorian, a noted critic of immigration and the director of the Center for Immigration Studies.

It is fundamental transformation alright!

Obamacare and increased immigration are “ways of fundamentally changing the United States so that it will not be like our country before Obama was elected, which has always been his goal,” he said.

So Paul Ryan and others, what the hell are you thinking!

The Daily Caller continued:

Jarrett’s pairing of the two bills also contradicts efforts by Republicans to focus the GOP’s base on the existing Obamacare law, and to divert the base away from the closed-door, bipartisan efforts to pass an immigration rewrite, Krikorian said.

“Without realizing it [Jarrett] is probably doing a favor to opponents of amnesty because [Rep.] Paul Ryan and other other Republicans are trying to distract attention from immigration by focusing attention on Obamacare,” said Krikorian.

“Valerie is bringing everyone back to the connection of the two,” Krikorian said.

Go to all of our coverage of S.744, here, to see how the new “comprehensive” immigration bill will increase the number of refugees/asylees in the US and how the contractors will be raking in the taxpayer cash.

Four Israelis arrested in Tel Aviv for beating African migrants

The African “asylum-seekers” have been sleeping in a park in Tel Aviv.

Regular readers know we have been following the on-going tension in Israel as thousands of mostly Africans came across the Egyptian border in recent years and asked for asylum.  The flow was slowed when Israel built a substantial border fence, but the political battles are on-going as to what to do with the thousands already there.

See our entire category on Israel and refugees for more.

Here is the story from the Jerusalem Post:

Four men driven by a hatred of foreigners beat and robbed African migrants in south Tel Aviv in recent months, before they were arrested Monday by Tel Aviv police.

Tel Aviv police said Tuesday that the four men operated in the neighborhoods of Hatikva, Shapira, and the area around the Central Bus Station. They would single out foreigners walking around these neighborhoods and then would attack them “using great cruelty” – police said – using bottles and sticks to beat them into submission.

Police said the robberies were of secondary interest to the men, who were driven by a hatred of foreigners and were looking to beat and terrorize them, robbing them as a sort of afterthought.

The men, all aged 22 and 21, are themselves residents of south Tel Aviv, and will be brought for a remand extension at the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

In April, Tel Aviv police arrested five Israeli males, including two minors, for carrying out a series of attacks on Africans in south Tel Aviv.

Of course we don’t condone what these men have done, but frankly it is human nature to protect one’s territory so it’s not unexpected.   I think it has a name—Ethnic nationalism.  It is something the multiculturalists would like to stamp out permanently.

How long before we in the US have migrant camps like this one, and the ones in Germany, France, and Holland?

Addendum:  Here is an earlier story where an Israeli cabinet member says the migrants must be dispersed.

Utah Congressman wants information from Homeland Security on bogus asylum claims

This is basically an update of the story we posted here earlier this month about the new waves of illegal aliens coming across our border who have their asylum jargon down pat thanks to some good coaching.

Aliens to America:
We have a “credible fear” of persecution by the Mexican drug cartels, so therefore we are entitled to be let into the US.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz asked soon-to-be gone Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano for further documentation on this latest immigration fraud.

From the Washington Examiner  (hat tip: Judy)

House Republicans are demanding information from the Department of Homeland Security about immigrants who win access to the U.S. by falsely claiming they are asylum seekers afraid to return to their home countries.

In a letter sent Monday to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, a copy of which was obtained by the Washington Examiner, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, questioned whether illegal immigrants were being instructed on how to beat the immigration system by falsely claim they are in the U.S. to seek political asylum.

Immigrants are allegedly learning to claim they face a “credible fear” of persecution at home so that U.S. officials can not immediately expel them. Thousands of such cases have been reported along the U.S.-Mexico border, New York City and other parts of the U.S.

Homeland Security is expected to receive nearly 29,000 asylum requests this year from immigrants arriving from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and elsewhere, a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee revealed in July. That’s a 434 percent increase in such requests over the past five years, said Chaffetz, R-Utah, who chairs that subcommittee.

This is my favorite line in the whole report:

Chaffetz asked Napolitano to provide the number of asylum cases being investigated for fraud as well as the number of lawyers successfully prosecuted for aiding asylum fraud.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., also asked for information on asylum from last week, saying he was concerned that “credible fear” is being “exploited” by illegal immigrants to gain entry into the U.S.

According to reports, many of the asylum seekers are not detained and do not show up at later court hearings regarding their asylum requests.

Note to the Congressman:  If you or someone on your staff is reading this, you should contact ‘The Asylumist’ where blogger and immigration lawyer, Jason Dzubow, who, although a supporter of asylum, also has written critically of the legal crooks (the shady lawyers) plying their trade and helping would-be asylum-seekers make up their tall tales.  Here he is writing about the subject of this post.  His contact information is on his blog.
