You might want to read my post on asylum here last week. Asylum seekers differ from the refugees we normally talk about because they get to a country like Germany (or the US, or Canada) and ask for asylum claiming they will be persecuted if returned home. The refugees we write most about here are selected abroad and we fly them in.
So the next time you hear that Germany is welcoming refugees in greater numbers than the US, remember these hordes who arrived in Europe with a goal of getting to Germany over the last two years are migrants seeking asylum. Now we are learning that, yikes! Germany has 450,000 who failed to prove their asylum claims and will now be deported.
Gee, wouldn’t it have been a better idea to close their borders in the first place!
From the Daily Mail(a department in Berlin will be created to organize the mass deportations!):
Merkel offers cash handouts worth millions of pounds for migrants to return home in an embarrassing U-turn
Angela Merkel will offer cash handouts worth millions of pounds for migrants to leave Germany in an effort to silence criticism of her ‘open-door’ border policy.
In a highly-embarrassing U-turn over the ill-fated plan, which saw 1.2million migrants flock to the country, Mrs Merkel has now vowed to send many of them home.
The German chancellor agreed a package of measures to speed up the deportation process for an estimated 450,000 migrants who have been rejected asylum.
The controversial plan, which marks a significant toughening of previous proposals, includes a £76million scheme that will offer migrants cash incentives to leave Germany voluntarily.
Many will see the move as a desperate attempt for Miss Merkel to claw back support ahead of her challenging re-election bid in September.
Criticism of her decision to leave Germany’s borders open and welcome all refugees during Europe’s migration crisis in 2015 has led to a surge in support for anti-immigrant parties.
[….]
The proposed crackdown, which has been criticised by human rights groups, will also include the creation of a department in Berlin to co-ordinate mass deportations.

The Trump message for Leftwing politicians worldwide: not a winning strategy to promote the replacement of your own people with migrants.
Our entire ‘Invasion of Europe’ archive is here (extends back many years).
Most of what I write about here at Refugee Resettlement Watch is about the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program which was created when ol’ Ted (Kennedy) and Uncle Joe (Biden) created the program that was signed in to law in 1980 by Jimmy Carter. The main thrust of the program is that refugees are chosen abroad (the UN is picking most of our refugees) and we fly them here. The nine major resettlement contractorswe talk about all the time are then paid by the head to place them in your towns and cities. They, and the US State Department, choose the resettlement sites often secretively.
However, an originally small, but now growing part of that same law deals with asylum. To keep it simple, asylum seekers get here on their own steam—either they enter illegally across borders or they have a visa for some reason and overstay the visa (they are not screened abroad at all).
When those coming illegally hit the border, they know to apply for asylum claiming that if they are sent home they will be persecuted for their religious beliefs, political beliefs, race, sexual orientation (a booming category!) and a few other things. They are then referred to as asylum seekers. They go through one of two processes that I have found confusing and are either granted asylum or not. If they are turned down, they must leave the country.Yesterday we learnedthat the Obama Administration was releasing from detention failed asylum seekers who are high-tailing it to the Canadian border.
A successful asylum seeker is called an asylee or sometimes the broader term political refugee. The Boston Bomber brothers were part of a family that entered the US this way. As full-fledged refugees they then could (and did) avail themselves of all the same welfare goodies of refugees we flew in and they were free to work and to travel outside the country. They could also bring in more family members.
Here is a good report at the American Immigration Council.
On average we grant asylum to 24,000-25,000 of those who are here illegally, but can make a persuasive case that they will be harmed if they go home. Add that 25,000 or so to the number we discuss often here (Obama proposed 110,000 refugees for FY17 and to that add this 25,000). To Trump’s 50,000 cap add this additional 25,000. Those Africans we mentioned yesterday who are running to Canada right now are FAILED asylum seekers NOT refugees!
According to the American Immigration Council:
In FY 2015, USCIS found 33,988 individuals to have credible fear. These individuals, many of whom were detained during this screening process, will be afforded an opportunity to apply for asylum defensively and establish that they meet the refugee definition.
The number of credible fear cases has skyrocketed since the procedure was implemented—in FY 2009, USCIS completed 5,523 cases. In FY 2014, case completions reached an all-time high of 49,607.
The largest number of successful asylum seekers are Chinese!Do you know we have a policy (I believe it is still in effect) that allows Chinese men to use China’s one child policy as an argument about why they should be here—they want more than one kid—and will thus be persecuted if returned to China!
The countries of nationality for individuals granted asylum have largely remained the same in that 10-year period, with nationals of China and Egypt accounting for nearly half (46 percent) of grants each year since FY 2012. The rest of the asylum grants provided in that time period consistently went to nationals of Ethiopia, Venezuela, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Guatemala, Russia, Nepal, and Eritrea.
In FY 2014, the most recent year with available data, more individuals from Syria were granted asylum than in any previous year (4 percent of all grants). Individuals from China, Egypt, and Syria combined accounted for half of the nearly 24 thousand individuals granted asylum—either affirmatively or defensively—in FY 2014 (Figure 2). A total of 96 nationalities were represented among all individuals granted asylum in FY 2014.
So you can add another 1,000 Syrians getting in to the US through asylum each year (a large number could be the Christians that the UN is keeping out of our normal refugee flow). I digress, but didn’t Obama (with the UN) use a religious test when 98% of the Syrians admitted in the normal refugee program are Muslims? One last thing!
I was annoyed by a Drudge headline last night that read: “Refugees self-deport” about a story about the failed asylum seekersheading for Canada. They are NOT refugees! They failed to be designated as refugees. But, I see this morning that the headline has changed to the more accurate, “Illegals self-deport!”
The Open Borders Left has for years been working to control the language and they want you to think that anyone on the move anywhere in the world, for any reason, is a refugee. It is a big lie that the mainstream media helps to perpetuate!
Those migrants entering Europe by the hundreds of thousands are most likely economic migrants, but most will apply for asylum in Europe. They are not resettled refugees comparable to the ones we (with the UN) bring from around the world. They are in fact not refugees at all until they have successfully gained legal asylum although media around the world deceptively uses the word ‘refugee.’ Where is Congress? I said as early as 2011, that this asylum process must be thoroughly investigated by Congress because I suspect that someone or some groups are helping third worlders (possibly even paying them) to come across our borders and ask for asylum.
I’m sure many of you are saying, let ’em go! Boy Trudeau loves refugees he can have them!
But, this story at the Minneapolis Star Tribune is at once informative and fishy.
Note that although the numbers of Africans crossing in to Canada from the US grew the most during the Obama Administration, the reporter, Mila Koumpilova, wants to make it clear that he/she thinks that things will get even worse under Donald Trump’s administration.
Actually, maybe not, maybe if we promptly deport failed asylum seekers, they won’t be free to wander up to Canada!
More than 430 African migrants have arrived in Winnipeg since April, up from 70 three years ago. Most come by way of Minneapolis, sometimes after grueling treks across Latin America and stints in U.S. immigration detention. [Donald Trump has only been President for a month, so they can’t pin this on him!—ed]
The men pay hundreds of dollars for middle-of-the-night cab rides north to the Canadian border. They wade into the Red River to dodge border agents in summer and trudge through waist-deep snow in winter. On Christmas Eve, two wandered in the wind-swept flatness and lost their fingers to frostbite.
Minnesota has become a key stop for a soaring number of migrants from Somalia and other African countries who sneak into Canada to seek asylum.More than 430 arrived in Winnipeg since April, up from 70 three years ago. Most come by way of Minneapolis, sometimes after grueling treks across Latin America and stints in U.S. immigration detention.
The exodus is now coinciding with new steps by the Trump White House to restrict immigrant and refugee entry — policies expected to spur even more crossings. [Is this reporting or editorializing?—ed]
[….]
A tangle of factors is fueling the surge: brisker traffic along an immigrant smuggling route out of East Africa, stepped-up deportations under the Obama administration and the lure of Canada’s gentler welcome. Advocates expect the Trump administration’s harder line on immigration will spur even more illegal crossings into Canada, where some nonprofits serving asylum seekers are already overwhelmed. Now Canadians worry smugglers are making fresh profits from asylum seekers and migrants take more risks to make the crossing. [Remember readers everyone expected Hillary to win, so they can’t pin this on Trump as if these illegal aliens who went to Canada last summer and fall had advance notice that immigration hardliner Trump would win!—ed]
So why did numbers crossing to Canada swell under Obama? I have an idea.
Koumpilova continues….
The number of migrants crossing near Emerson has swelled steadily since the early 2010s, based on data from Canadian border authorities. Provinces from Quebec to British Columbia have seen major increases as well. Almost 60 percent of the Manitoba arrivals since the start of the Canadian fiscal year in April were Somali, with growing contingents from Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Ghana.
Why don’t lazy, biased reporters ever ask where all the money comes from for the poor phony ‘refugees’ to travel across the world?
Samatar [Somali star of the story—ed] says he fled southern Somalia in a hurry. In neighboring Ethiopia began a grueling, monthslong journey: a flight to Brazil and a trek north through nine countries. What the smugglers did not tell him and other migrants: When they presented themselves to U.S. immigration authorities to seek asylum, they would be detained.
“I was totally not expecting I would be in jail,” Samatar said. “I was shocked.”
After his asylum application was rejected, he was released to await deportation. Within weeks, he was bound for Canada by way of Minneapolis.
And there you have the answer as to why these treks to Canada increased. In addition to Boy Trudeau putting out the welcome mat, the Obama Administration was releasing FAILED asylum seekers. Heck maybe human rights friends of Obama even gave them some money and a map to Canada!
A dozen recent border crossers interviewed in Winnipeg echoed Samatar’s story. Many paid $10,000 or more to smugglers who flew them to South America and ferried them north by bus, car, raft and on foot — a smuggling route first forged to shuttle Somalis stuck in long refugee resettlement waits or with no access to that program. They report fleeing mandatory yearslong military service in Eritrea, discrimination against gays in Ghana and general poverty and unrest in the region. [What the hell! No access to refugee resettlement! We have taken well over 100,000 Somalis in the last two decades!—ed]
Then came time in U.S. immigration detention and the denial of their asylum claims. [These illegal aliens who came in through South America, Central America and Mexico could have asked for asylum in any safe country along the way. They are not legitimate asylum seekers and obviously the asylum judges agreed!—ed]
And, look at this! Formerly FAILED Somali asylum seekers were just allowed to blend into American towns and cities!
Meanwhile, the pace of deportations to Somalia has picked up. In previous years, the United States mostly sent back people who came legally as refugees but committed crimes before becoming citizens, says Minneapolis attorney Marc Prokosch. Those with rejected asylum applications and no criminal records were “left alone.” But last year, more of them started hearing from immigration authorities they would be sent back soon.
There is a lot more in this story, click here.
See our previous posts on the trek of illegal Africans to Canada through Minnesota and North Dakota, here top two posts.
The way to solve this problem (if Canada wants it solved) is to make sure that the US DEPORTS FAILED ASYLUM SEEKERS and does not release them from detention before they can be deported!
“This is the worst deal ever,” sending “next Boston bombers” into the US!
President Donald Trump
We’ve been telling you about the rotten deal Obama made with Australia that doesn’t benefit the US one bit ever since it surfaced, here, November 4th. (One more Obama dirty deal left behind for Trump!)
In a rare show of strength on any issue involving refugees, the Chairmen of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees came out against the deal here a couple of weeks after Trump was elected.
But, just a couple of days agowe heard Australian Prime Minister Turnbull telling his media that the deal would be honored by President Trump. Now we are hearing the Administration’s side of it!
Before I give the latest news which I caught on CNN first thing this morning (remember I suggested you might want to watch CNN once in awhile because then you can see for yourself how they spin about news you know something about). Here is what I know and you need to know as this continues to blow up today: Australia does take refugees (CNN said this morning that they don’t!), but the Australian public doesn’t want these migrants (mostly Muslim men!) who tried to get into Australia by boat. They were sent to detention on offshore islands where they failed to be granted asylum to live in Australia. The Australian public does not want them and Turnbull is trying to save his political skin while human rights activists agitate and blast him from one side and the sensible Australian people from the other.
These are illegal migrants who failed to gain asylum in Australia! Australia doesn’t want them. Why are they our problem?
And, what are we getting from the deal? Supposedly Australia will take a number of Central American migrants parked in Costa Rica right now.*** So why are thosepeople our problem? ***Update***Excellent background report at the Center for Immigration Studies on the deal, by Nayla Rush, here.
To top it off, one of my Australian readers is saying that many of the 1,000-2,000 (numbers vary) in detention don’t want to come to “Donald Trump’s America” anyway!
Here is the news this morning, hat tip Judy:
President Trump reportedly blasted the Australian Prime Minister during a phone call between the leaders of the two longtime allies.
Trump told Australian leader Malcolm Turnbull that the conversation was “the worst call by far” among talks with various world leaders that day and ended the scheduled hour-long conversation after just 25 minutes, according to The Washington Post.
Trump was reportedly incensed that the Prime Minister expected him to abide by an Obama administration agreement to take in 1,250 refugees from Australia.
“This is the worst deal ever,” Trump told Turnbull in the call, adding that the country was trying to send the “next Boston bombers” into the US.
Trump was “yelling” at Turnbull during the call, according to SKY News in Australia, and the US president hung up the phone on him after 25 minutes.
Trump continued to rail against the refugee deal in a tweet sent Wednesday night.
“Do you believe it? The Obama Administration agreed to take thousands of illegal immigrants from Australia. Why? I will study this dumb deal!” Trump tweeted.
Here we get the New York Post continuing the lie that these are ‘refugees.’ If they are legitimate refugees they are Australia’s problem!
The deal, however, includes refugees and not “illegal immigrants,” as Trump claimed.
[….]
The refugees in the agreement have fled Iraq, Iran, Sudan and Somalia. They have been living in facilities on islands off the coast of Australia.
***This business of using refugees as pawns in political deals must stop. In April 2012I first testified to the US State Department and gave ten reasons why there needed to be a moratorium on refugee resettlement and this is #7:
7) Congress needs to specifically disallow the use of the refugee program for other purposes of the US Government, especially using certain refugee populations to address unrelated foreign policy objectives—Uzbeks, Kosovars, Meshketians and Bhutanese (Nepalese) people come to mind.
So come on Congress, get to work! We know you are hiding behind Trump!
Be sure to let Donald Trump know how you feel about the Australia deal today! Click here!
Since when did Obamacare become President-elect Donald Trump’s #1 priority? That is all I hear now from the media.
Tens of thousands of people did not stand for hours in all sorts of weather to hear Trump talk about Obamacare. They came primarily because he said he would build the wall and stop immigration from terror-exporting countries! We must secure our border with Mexico NOW! Look at this article from the Saudi Gazette, and see how Mexico is facilitating African illegal aliens’ passage to our border:
As Europe tightens its borders to stem the influx of refugees and migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, Hassan [the Somali star of this story.—ed] is part of a growing surge of people from African nations seeking new routes to flee poverty, war and persecution.
Hassan had paid a human smuggler $1,000 to guide him overland through Central America to reach Mexico in the hope of crossing into the United States.
[….]
The routes to Europe have become more difficult, said Claudette Walls, head of the field office for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Mexico’s city of Tapachula.
“What’s happening in the Mediterranean is that it’s becoming more and more hazardous and difficult to take that route,” Walls said.
“Through Latin America coming all the way up to Mexico and then on to the U.S. has become another route,” she told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
Many migrants from Africa fly to Ecuador and Brazil where few visa restrictions allow an easy point of entry into the Americas.
[….]
Immigration officials first noticed African migrants arriving in Mexico in 2013, when around six trickled in a day, mainly through Tapachula along Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala.
Hundreds now turn up every day. Last year between 150 to 700 African migrants arrived per day at Tapachula – with a total of 19,000 migrants arriving from Africa and Haiti in 2016 – according to Mexican government figures.
Mexico gives the invader a 20-day pass in order to cross Mexico and reach the US border!
With few diplomatic ties with African nations, it is difficult for the Mexican authorities to deport illegal migrants from Africa home.
As a result, many African migrants are given a temporary transit permit, giving them 20 days to leave Mexico. In practice this allows them to continue their journey towards the United States border without being detained by immigration officials.
The article is written in such a way as to make us feel sympathy for the aliens just because their trip was so difficult. A difficult trip does not transform an illegal alien into a ‘refugee.’
But, who is paying these supposedly impoverished Africans to make the trip! Hassan spent $10,000 to get to our border!
Hassan reached Mexico in December, after a four month journey that included a flight from Somalia to Brazil, and then across seven countries on bus, boat and foot. He has spent $10,000 so far, hiding dollar bills in his underwear and socks.
Continue reading here for more details.
We admit thousands of Somalis each year through the legal refugee process (which of course should be stopped). Why aren’t they in the legal flow to your towns? We can only assume there is something very undesirable about them!
Five years ago, in 2011, we urged Congress to investigatewho is paying for and helping Africans and others from places like the Middle East reach our US border where they then meet up with immigration lawyers and begin the asylum process.
Europe made a huge mistake by not stopping the invasion years ago, see here. Where are you Congress?
