Australia: Violent riots erupt between anti-Islam nationalists and anti-racism activists

Coming to a town near you?
Reuters has the story here:

MELBOURNE (Reuters) – Several hundred Australian nationalists and anti-racism activists clashed with police in Melbourne on Saturday in a rare display of violence in a country where immigration is an increasingly emotive political issue.

[….]

Fear of young Australian Muslims being inspired by militants such as Islamic State and traveling to fight in Iraq and Syria has underpinned support for right-wing groups like Reclaim Australia and the United Patriots Front.

“The message is very clear: you come here, embrace our way of life,” Daniel Nalliah, National President of the Rise Up Australia Party and Reclaim Australia rally organizer told the crowd.

“If you think where you come from is better than where you are coming to, shut up, pack up and get out.”

About 450 police were on hand following violent clashes at a similar rally earlier this year and used pepper spray as they struggled to keep the two sides apart.

The written report doesn’t tell the whole story.  See the films of the violent demonstrations to get a better understanding of the tension over immigration down under.  Here are just two of many:

How did Chattanooga shooter's family get here?

I haven’t seen anyone find the definitive answer yet. Have you?
Andy McCarthy, here, further elaborates on their ‘Palestinian’ origins, and tells us the family came when Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez was an infant.  He was born in 1990.

The apparently not-so-happy Abdulazeez family. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3165737/Muslim-Marine-murderer-s-father-sexually-assaulted-wife-beat-son-wanted-second-wife-allowed-Islamic-law.html

We take very few ‘Palestinian’ refugees (I’ve remarked many times that the Palestinian problem is never solved by the UN because they need to continue the thorn in Israel’s side, but that is a story for another day).
I hate to speculate, but will anyway.  There is a chance that this family was very likely among those being expelled from Kuwait (to Jordan) at the time of the first Gulf War.  The father is reportedly a Palestinian who could very well have been a successful asylum seeker just as had been the father of the Tsarnaev Boston Bomber family.  In the Tsarnaev case the father got into the US on his own and then asked for asylum.  Once granted political refugee status he then brought the rest of the family over.

By the way, we wouldn’t be speculating if the US State Department and its resettlement agencies in Tennessee would talk!

ORR Annual reports to Congress hold much information

I went back to the Office of Refugee Resettlement Annual Reports to Congress to see what we were doing in the early 1990’s in Jordan and Kuwait.  For those of you doing research, these are a treasure-trove of information.
In the first half of the 1990’s we took no refugees from either Kuwait or Jordan, however, much to my surprise the reports in the early 1990’s included the nationalities of successful asylum seekers.  Unfortunately by the 1995 report this feature was dropped from subsequent reports.
However…
Go here to the Annual Report for 1994 and see Table 14 on Page A-24.
From 1990-1994 we accepted 85 asylum seekers from Kuwait and 66 from Jordan.  Could this be how the Abdulazeez family gained legal immigrant status in the US?
Again, we don’t know yet, or at least I haven’t seen reports yet on how exactly this family gained access to a legal life in Tennessee, but, this gave me an opportunity to mention the Annual Reports to all of you concerned activist citizens who are researching what has been done to your states.
Completely changing the subject….I was interested to see (in that same 1994 report) a table on the distribution of ‘unaccompanied minors’ that year.  We distributed 8,416 of those ‘unaccompanied minors’ to your towns as early as 1994.

Senator Rand Paul: We are going to look into legal immigration from "hotbeds of jihadism"

A few years ago I was thrilled that Senator Rand Paul publicly challenged the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program. He even said for publication:  Why are we bringing Iraqi refugees here and putting them on welfare!

2016 Presidential candidate Rand Paul: I don’t think we are being careful about who we let in.

This happened as it became known that two Iraqi refugees had been arrested and ultimately convicted of terrorist activity in Kentucky.  However, he drifted away from the issue as his Presidential aspirations became clear.
Now, it looks like he is thankfully taking up the cause again as Breitbart reported here yesterday (via Creeping Sharia and hat tip: Paula):

HOUSTON, Texas — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), a 2016 GOP presidential candidate, told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview here that he wants to restrict immigration from predominantly Muslim countries after the Chattanooga, Tennessee, terrorist attack.

Paul said in an interview backstage at a rally his presidential campaign is holding inside the Hyatt Regency here in downtown Houston:

I’m very concerned about immigration to this country from countries that have hotbeds of jihadism and hotbeds of this Islamism. There was a program in place that Bush had put in place—it stood for entry-exit program from about 25 different countries with a lot of Islamic radicals, frankly. I think there does need to be heightened scrutiny. Nobody has a right to come to America, so this isn’t something that we can say ‘oh their rights are being violated.’ It’s a privilege to come to America and we need to thoroughly screen those who are coming.

The alleged shooter in the Chattanooga incident—which claimed the lives of four U.S. marines, whom he allegedly murdered in the terror attack—was named Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez. The 24-year-old was born in Kuwait and immigrated to the United States before he opened fire in Chattanooga, killing four Marines.

Paul also told Breitbart News about another similar incident regarding foreigners from the Middle East who were placed in Kentucky via immigration programs for refugees—and tried to, before getting caught, buy military grade missiles.

Tucker Carlson on Chattanooga: We need to review Muslim immigration to America

It took the death of Kate Steinle at the hands of an illegal alien a few weeks ago to direct our attention to the shameful border situation, and now it seems the death of five of our finest just might get a discussion started about our LEGAL immigration policies that allow 100,000 or more Muslims to enter the US each year.

Also, see our earlier post this morning where Senator Jeff Sessions seems to be suggesting the same thing.
Here is Carlson yesterday on Fox (hat tip: Richard at Blue Ridge Forum).  Click here to watch the video.

Tucker Carlson, host of “Fox & Friends Weekend,” suggested Friday that the U.S. should look at who it allows into the country in light of the murders of four Marines at a military facility by a Kuwaiti-born Islamic radical in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Carlson asked, “Is there a connection between a massive increase in Islamic immigration to the U.S. and a massive increase of acts in Islamic terror on our soil?”

Carlson said that should a correlation occur, a review of the current immigration policy and a political discourse are in order, “Maybe we do it in a non-heated way, a way that does not demonize anybody but in a way that acts in America’s interests.”

Carlson said political correctness was the reason that critics use to discourage discussion that could offend a group of people: “You will not hear that conversation and it’s really a shame.”

Let’s talk about a moratorium!

Senator Jeff Sessions: Time to re-think our LEGAL immigration system

Yes!  It is way past time!

Senator Jeff Sessions (R) Alabama

Any of you reading this and still saying to anyone who will listen that “illegal immigration is bad, but legal is good,” please stop saying it because it shows you don’t know what you are talking about!
Our LEGAL immigration policies and programs are a disaster and this week’s Chattanooga slaughter should be a wake-up call to every sane citizen.
Thank God, Senator Jeff Sessions is now saying what we have been saying for years!
His piece entitled, Homegrown Terrorism ‘Made Possible by Unwise Immigration Policy’, is posted here at the Weekly Standard.   After listing myriad cases of terrorism perpetrated by LEGAL refugees and immigrants he wraps up with this:

It is time to affirm some fundamental but forgotten principles that will enhance not only our security but also our social and economic well-being:

· We are under no obligation to admit anyone to the United States.

· The selection of new immigrants to the United States should be based on what’s in the best interests of the people already living inside the United States.

· Immigrants selected for admission should be expected to be financially self-sufficient and chosen because they are likely to succeed, thrive, and flourish in the United States.

· Assimilation is the best policy to ensure both the success of our country and the success of those who arrive in our country. We do both the country and those seeking to enter our country a disservice by failing to promote our language, our laws, and our political customs.

Call Senator Sessions and urge him to hold hearings on the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program with an eye to throwing it out altogether.
He is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, here.   I see Senator Ted Cruz is on this subcommittee, tell him he needs to get on this issue ASAP if he wants your support in his 2016 run for the Presidency.
