Update: Brenda Walker at VDARE has some good stats you should see, here.
The New York Posthas a new twist on one of our favorite subjects—-food stamp fraud. Hat tip: Anne
Seems that Jamaicans, Haitians and immigrants from the Dominican Republic living in New York are buying non-perishable food to send ‘home’ to relatives.
EBT Nation! If they are shipping food out of NY, surely they are pulling the same scam in your state!
Food stamps are paying for trans-Atlantic takeout — with New Yorkers using taxpayer-funded benefits to ship food to relatives in Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Welfare recipients are buying groceries with their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards and packing them in giant barrels for the trip overseas, The Post found.
The practice is so common that hundreds of 45- to 55-gallon cardboard and plastic barrels line the walls of supermarkets in almost every Caribbean corner of the city.
The feds say the moveable feasts go against the intent of the $86 billion welfare program for impoverished Americans.
[….]
The United States spent $522.7 million on foreign aid to the Caribbean last fiscal year, government data show.
That reminds me, Haitians are still getting ‘temporary protected (refugee) status’ from that earthquake back in 2010, but as we learned in January there weren’t many takers because anyone getting into the US illegally in recent months is anticipating a free ride when (if!) the so-called “comprehensive reform” becomes law.

When individuals granted asylum return to the country they’d fled, they can lose their asylum privileges-–but only if U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services knows about it, the head of the agency’s asylum program said during a House hearing July 17.
Joseph Langlois, the associate director for refugee, asylum and international operations at USCIS, suggested that the agency would not have known that Tamerlan Tsarnaev–the Boston Marathon bombing suspect who died in a gunbattle with police–traveled in 2012 to Russia, which his family had received asylum from.
Langlois told the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee on national security that he couldn’t publicly discuss the Tsarnaev family in particular for confidentiality reasons. But he did speak in general terms about cases like that of Tamerlan.
When an asylee comes back to the United States after traveling abroad, Customs and Border Protection can alert USCIS about an asylee’s travel, he said. [Gee, I wonder if they were alerted about Tsarnaev and did nothing—ed]
“We do have referrals from CBP. They are not great in number though,” Langlois said.
Additionally, those referrals only come from entries into the United States–Langlois said it was his understanding that USCIS has no knowledge when asylees depart for the country where they said they feared persecution.
The father of the Tsarnaev brothers reportedly applied for asylum after arriving in the United States legally, under a tourist visa, which would make him an affirmative asylum applicant. Individuals in removal proceedings, on the other hand, can apply for asylum defensively, at which point USCIS screens them for credible fear of persecution.
Asylum claims up 400% since Obama took office.
Langlois said the agency is on track to receive about 29,000 defensive applications this year–an increase of about 400 percent since 2009. He added though that there have been large fluctuations in applications, both defensive and affirmative, in recent years.
We have 25 previous posts on the political “refugees”, the Tsarnaevs, in our Boston Marathon bombing category.
Remember that those granted asylum get all the taxpayer-funded goodies that refugees get.
Can you believe it, she lied to get into the US as a refugee! I’m just shocked!
This is the case (perhaps the end of the many cases) of Beatrice Munyenyezi a refugee from Rwanda resettled in NH who it turns out was involved in the Hutu slaughter of Tutsis in her native Rwanda.
CONCORD, N.H. — A federal judge on Monday sentenced a New Hampshire woman to the maximum 10 years in prison for lying about her role in the 1994 Rwanda genocide, saying the United States cannot be a haven for those who slaughter out of hatred and ignorance.
Rwanda native Beatrice Munyenyezi declined her right to address the court after U.S. District Judge Steven McAuliffe imposed her sentence.
Munyenyezi, 43, was convicted in February of entering the United States and securing citizenship by lying about her role as a commander of one of the notorious roadblocks where Tutsis were singled out for slaughter. She also denied affiliation with any political party, despite her husband’s leadership role in the extremist Hutu militia party.
“She was not a mere spectator,” McAuliffe said. “I find this defendant was actively involved, actively participated, in the mass killing of men, women and children simply because they were Tutsis.”
McAuliffe acknowledged she has led a crime-free and productive life since her arrival in New Hampshire in 1998 but said it was a life lived under false pretenses. [Really! Read on below!—ed]
[….]
McAuliffe said she effectively stole a citizenship slot away from a deserving refugee, possibly one who also had daughters and was a victim of violence and persecution. Munyenyezi took the oath of citizenship a decade ago in the very same courthouse where she was sentenced. McAuliffe stripped her of that citizenship when she was convicted.
Why should US taxpayers take care of her in prison for ten years if she is going to be deported—just deport her now!
Federal prosecutors had sought the maximum prison sentence, saying she’s as guilty as if she wielded the machete herself.
[….]
Once Munyenyezi serves her prison sentence, she could be deported to Rwanda – a fate her lawyers said would be tantamount to a death sentence.
She flat-out lied!
Prosecutors maintained that she was a liar who “gamed” the immigration system to fraudulently obtain the “golden ticket” of citizenship. She swore on immigration and naturalization forms that she persecuted no one, had no affiliation with any political party and even cast herself as a victim of the genocide by saying family members “disappeared.”
They didn’t disappear in the way you might think.
Munyenyezi’s husband, Arsene Shalom Ntahobali and his mother were convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes of violence and are serving life sentences. [Presumably in Rwanda and not at US taxpayer expense!—ed]
[….]
Munyenyezi’s sister was convicted last summer in Boston on charges of fraudulently obtaining a visa to enter the United States by lying about her own Hutu political party affiliations.
The judge did say (above) that Munyenyezi had a “productive life” in the US. How productive?
Before long, she had a $13-an-hour job working for the city’s housing authority. Her children were enrolled in Catholic school and she attended college and earned an associate’s degree. She financed a comfortable lifestyle through mortgages, loans and credit cards – only to file for bankruptcy in 2008 and have about $400,000 in debt discharged.
The next time someone assures you that refugees are thoroughly screened before entering the US, don’t believe it! And, ask them exactly why is it the responsibility of America to get involved in these civil wars in the first place by bringing some of the participants to your towns and cities! Or, have we run out of destitute Americans who need help?

Update July 17th: 7,500 Germans have been killed by aliens since the Berlin Wall came down—hmmm! Guess it’s xenophobic to mention that. See TheMuslim Issue for the news.
Of course they are—how else does one explain that the German people are getting anxious about the extreme numbers of asylum seekers pouring into Germany when jobs are scarce and they fear crime from the mostly Muslim migrants coming in from war zones.
Charming “refugees” demand that Germany take them in! At Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate in 2012.
Here is a story from Deutsche Welle explaining that residents of Berlin and also of former East Germany have had enough. (LOL! How many times in this story is the word ‘xenophobe’ used?)
Residents of Berlin are fighting a new home for asylum seekers with xenophobic rhetoric, while refugees in Munich are staging hunger strikes. Both sides of the asylum debate are becoming more vocal in their protests.
Some residents in Hellersdorf, a district in Berlin, have been increasingly worried of late: about home and property values, about peace on their streets, and about the well-being of their children.
They don’t want asylum seekers to end up living in their neighborhood, and their arguments against a new residence for asylum seekers are becoming increasingly xenophobic.A few weeks ago, residents of another Berlin neighborhood collected signatures against establishing emergency accommodation for refugees. Such buildings are desperately needed, because the number of refugees in need of help in the German capital has increased since last year and now stands at around 6,000.
A study says that a quarter of Germans (20 million) harbor deep dark secret xenophobia:
It is well known that in Germany, asylum policy is a touchy subject and xenophobia is on the rise. According to a study conducted in 2012, more than a quarter of Germany’s 80 million people harbor xenophobic tendencies.
Maybe they just have concerns for the economic well-being of their families:
He [Social scientist who conducted the study] said more than half of Germans in the former East Germany wish that foreigners would get sent home, because jobs are hard to come by there.
Asylum seekers are getting more aggressive (Gee, maybe that is why the xenophobics are so upset):
But it’s not just the Germans whose resentment about the country’s asylum policies is growing. The other side is also developing a harsher tone. Refugees are raising public awareness about limitations on their personal freedoms, and protest initiatives are becoming bolder.
There are just too many invaders demanding a piece of the German pie!
Mesovic believes the explanation for the tense situation is clear: Germany has underestimated the number of asylum seekers.
“Plans were made for a very low number of asylum seekers on the basis of historic data,” he said. “These were accurate as of four years ago. Back then, there were about 30,000 to 40,000 asylum seekers per year. But this year it could climb to 90,000.”
Then this morning there is a story from All Africa reporting that Egypt is turning back Syrian refugees, but funny thing is that there is not a word about Egyptians being xenopobes!
The United Nations refugee agency said today it is concerned about reports of a number of flights carrying Syrians being turned back from airports in Egypt, and reiterated its call on all Governments to admit and protect Syrians who have fled the conflict in their country.
According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Syrian nationals that were turned back were returned to where their flights originated, including Damascus and Latakia.
This follows a decision on 8 July imposing new visa requirements, under which Syrian nationals are required to apply for a visa and security clearance prior to their travel to Egypt. UNHCR noted that the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus does not currently have the capacity to issue visas.
The Egyptians are traditionally hospitable (not so those German xenophobes):
“I appeal to the Egyptian authorities, as I have to all other Governments in the world, to admit and protect all Syrians seeking refuge in their country,” High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres said.
“I fully understand the challenges faced by Egypt at the present moment. But the traditional hospitality of the Egyptian people should not be denied to Syrians trying to fleethe most devastating and dangerous conflict in the world today,” he added.
I guess you can tell I get annoyed by the double standard when a largely “unwelcome” Muslim country is treated with kid-gloves while largely Christian and Western countries are filled with a bunch of haters if they don’t want their country to collapse.
Update July 16th: Catholic Ireland takes ten Somalis from Malta, here. It’s a good thing the EU is stepping up. This is not America’s problem.
You knew this would happen. The government of Malta would not be able to send a message to the thousands waiting in North Africa to board boats and make a run at Italy and Malta. Don’t try it, you will be returned to Africa is message needed now.
This, below from Voice of America, is an update to my post yesterday. If you are a new reader here at RRW we follow Malta’s illegal alien troubles closely (and have for over 5 years) because the US State Department has been bringing some of those African migrants to the US in a perversion of international refugee law.
Jesuit Refugee Services—a leader of the pack?
I feel for Malta and the Maltese people because they are a tiny country overloaded with not just illegal aliens, but apparently a large and noisy group of NGOs sucking off government funds (EU tax payer money too) just as the US refugee contractors do in America. Those Europeans opposing the cultural annihilation of Europe do not have the resources to battle the human rights industrial complex in the media.
LONDON — Malta has been forced to cancel the forced return of dozens of Somali migrants to Libya, after an emergency ruling by the European Court of Human Rights. The EU has criticized the attempted repatriation, but Malta has accused its European partners of a lack of solidarity. It comes after the Pope visited an Italian island earlier this week that’s received thousands of migrants.
[….]
Maltese authorities had intended to send two planes back to Libya carrying 45 Somali migrants who had arrived Tuesday. But the European Court of Human Rights issued a ruling banning the repatriations.
The migrants must be given the chance to apply for asylum, says Katrine Camilleri, a Maltese lawyer from the Jesuit Refugee Service.*
[….]
Authorities say more than 400 migrants have arrived on the island in the past week, including babies, pregnant women and three men with gunshot wounds. Most are Eritrean or Somali.
[….]
Malta has accused the European Union of a lack of solidarity in failing to help with the refugee influx.
The United Nations says around 8,400 refugees have landed in Italy and Malta so far this year – double the number in the same period last year.
The article goes on to gush about the Pope going to Lampedusa here to put a guilt-trip on the world. Update: Maybe Pope should stay home and continue cleaning up child abuse in the Vatican!
Learn more here about the Jesuit Refugee Services which is getting EU funds to give “vulnerable”refugees “psychosocial” support. How about the members of the EU taking some of the needy migrants to their countries and give them their psychosocial support there—in London, Paris and Berlin?
*How many “refugees” has Ms. Katrine Camilleri welcomed to live in her home? Does anyone know?
Click herefor an archive going back more than five years on the Maltese mess—a mess the US helped to make by offering free tickets to America for some of the African illegal migrants.
Be sure to see this story about an Italian diplomat and UN workers being arrested for trafficking Somalis between Libya and Malta—guess the business is back up and running!
