Alabama: Massive food stamp fraud bust; some of your money went to Yemen

Longtime readers know that the subject of food stamp fraud perpetrated by immigrant managers and owners of mom & pop convenience stores has been a hobby of mine here at RRW.  I have probably written a hundred posts on the topic over the years after I witnessed it happening near where I live in 2007 (at the same time the refugees were arriving here).

Alabama food stamp fraud
Nine of 17 arrested in Alabama yesterday on food stamp fraud charges. Your tax dollars were sent to Yemen!

Recently, I haven’t written much on the subject simply because there are not enough hours in the day.   And, it is a side issue because, although refugees are heavily using food stamps, most of the perps running these stores are not refugees but got in to the US through other mostly LEGAL means.
Also, in one of the last posts I wrote on the multi-million dollar fraud, here in November 2014, I begged someone wishing to become a blogger to please take on food stamp fraud (trafficking in food stamps) as a primary investigative focus.  It is huge!
If they gave Pulitzer Prizes for bloggers, a blogger who unravels this huge international scam on America could win the prize!  I am convinced it isn’t happening as isolated cases and that the scams are hatched abroad.

What is the legal immigration program that admits all of these foreign “investors” to the US?  Here is your chance to help save America—find out how it is being done!

Maybe someone could get Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) to look into this!

A reader sent me this story about the massive bust in Alabama yesterday!

A couple of steaks shoplifted at a Gardendale Walmart three months ago led to the biggest food stamp fraud investigation in Jefferson County’s history, and launched 11 simultaneous raids this morning at convenience stores countywide.

Led by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, teams of law enforcement officers met at 5 a.m. for a briefing and then fanned out across the county beginning at 6:50 a.m. The officers and agents were armed with 242 arrest warrants and plans to arrest 17 suspects.

All 17 suspects were in custody by mid-morning, and investigators already today have filed for forfeiture and condemnation of those 11 stores, which totals more than $1 million in assets.

“This is huge for us,” said Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon Falls.

The massive probe, dubbed Operation T-bone, targeted those they say have been cheating the food stamp system to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars and sending at least some of the profits via wire transfer to Yemen.

[….]

How big is the problem? “It is enormous. It is pervasive,” Raulston said. “We actually had to cut off the number we were going to prosecute this round, and this will be an ongoing investigation and prosecution for our office.”

When I followed food stamp fraud regularly there was a very clear pattern when one examined the names of those arrested!

Those arrested in today’s raids are: Jowher Almnasoob, Abdulrahman Alqublani, Ismail Hassan Elnaham, Saleh Yahya Rowaid, Ramzi Jowher Ali Almansoob, Mujahed Jowher Ali Almansoob, Bashir Abosaleh Mohamed, Fouad Zamzami, Muneer Zindani, Sufyan Saleh, Mansoor Almansoob, Audrey Morris, Jerry Brown, Keith Lee Lucas, Travis Wayne Holmes, Murad Nooruddin and Mable Olympia Kirksey.

I can assure you that this is going on in all 50 states!  See our extensive archive on food stamp fraud by clicking here.

Invasion of Europe news: "Bloody pitched battle" in Calais migrant camp

We’ve written often about the port city of Calais, France where illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East are piling up in hopes of illegally entering the UK where they expect to get welfare goodies gratis of the Brits.
Remember!   If they are legitimate asylum seekers they are required to apply for asylum in the first safe country they reach—in France or wherever they first landed in Europe.  Instead thousands of them make their way to Calais and some are successful in getting across the English Channel and reaching their Nirvana.
This is not the first time violence has broken out between ethnic groups and with the police.  See our Calais archive by clicking here.

Witnesses said that groups of Eritrean and Sudanese men fought each other with knives, stones and metal bars in the most alarming incident since the camp was opened by the French government two months ago. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/world/europe/article4457539.ece

From the UK Express (hat tip: Joanne).  Be sure to visit the article because there is more with lots of photos.

Twenty-four migrants were seriously injured and many more hurt during the bloody pitched battle, which raged for more than six hours before the gangs were dispersed by heavily armed riot police.

Witnesses reported that knives, metal bars and wooden truncheons were used by the two rival factions, who also set fire to several huts at a notorious migrant camp dubbed ‘The New Jungle’.

The gangs, one made up of Eritreans and the other Sudanese, reportedly clashed after a row over access to the best ferry smuggling routes to England boiled over.

Calais-based newspaper Nord Littoral dubbed the brawl a “night of violence” and reported that the vicious fight lasted from midnight until around 6am this morning.

Two squads of France’s fearsome CRS riot police rushed to the scene, close to the town’s Jules Ferry Centre, where a vast illegal camp stretches across sand dunes into the port town.

Calais Mayor Natasha Bouchart: It is all the Brits’ fault!

The horrific brawl was the second serious disturbance at the notorious migrant camp in a matter of days.

[….]

News of the mass outbreak of violence comes just a week after it emerged that British lorry drivers are boycotting Calais because they fear “somebody will be killed” by illegal immigrants desperate to get into the UK.

[….]

Calais mayor Natasha Bouchart has previously sparked controversy by stating that so many migrants camp in Calais because they are desperate to get to the UK to take advantage of its generous benefits system.

She said: “They want to go to England because they can expect better conditions on arrival there than anywhere else in Europe or even internationally.

“Calais is a hostage to the British. The migrants come here to get to Britain.”

For all of our coverage of the ‘Invasion of Europe’ go here.
Don’t forget, it was the UK Labor Party and its leaders like the Miliband brothers who created the “generous benefits system” for immigrants in the first place!   David Miliband is now the head honcho at the US resettlement contractor, the International Rescue Committee, and leading the effort (with the blessing of George Soros) to bring 65,000 Syrians to America ASAP!  14 Senators, dubbed the ‘Jihad Caucus,’ are urging Obama to bring in the 65,000 before he leaves office.

Congress seeking answers about how many asylum seekers have terror connections

This is all I have and no time today to do a search.  Since the letter is not linked, it may be older news that the reporter at the Washington Free Beacon has just found and wishes to disseminate further.  No matter because it gives me an opportunity to link a story about how Somalis skip around the world and end up on our southern border.

Who is on the bus? Somalis caught at the border and moved to a detention facility. http://www.tpnn.com/2015/05/13/video-dhs-caught-moving-somali-muslim-illegals-into-california/

It was only ten days ago that we had a report of a busload of asylum-seeking Somalis being moved to a California detention center, here.
BTW, the difference between “refugees” and “asylum” seekers is that we pick up the refugees abroad and bring them here, and then sign them up for their social services.  Asylum seekers get here on their own steam and either enter illegally or overstay a visa and apply for asylum (claiming they will be persecuted if they return home).  Once granted asylum they are eligible for all the welfare goodies too!
Here is the Washington Free Beacon story:

Congress is demanding that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) release documents detailing how many foreigners seeking asylum in the United States have been found to have ties to terror groups, according to a recent letter sent to the agency by leading lawmakers.

The letter comes on the heels of revelations by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that at least 638 aliens seeking asylum in America have been found to have connections to terrorists.

This “recent disclosure regarding the numbers of aliens found to have a ‘credible fear’ in cases where the terrorism bar to asylum eligibility may have applied raised the concern that hundreds of known and suspected aliens with terrorist connections may be attempting to take advantage of our country’s asylum system,” according to the letter, sent by leaders of four House committees on national security, the judiciary, and government reform.

One Somali’s great travel adventures

When I wrote this post, I mentioned the globe-trotting Somalis who pay huge sums of money to get to our southern border.  Reader Leo found this account of one Somali’s travel itinerary.
The first question I have is why didn’t the hero of this improbable tale ask for asylum in the first safe country he entered?  That is the internationally understood method to request asylum.  Instead, obviously with buckets of money, he traveled to the US Southern border.
He is here now, has been granted asylum, and wants to bring the weeping wife and 12 kids to join him!
From The Other Phoenix:
Long sob story you can read yourself, then this:

Hilowle’s wife wept. She told her husband to escape, taking only the $80 and 20 Somali schilling in his pocket. At the time, a dollar was equal 35,000 schillings. Hilowle’s wife told him he had to leave, because if he died then the entire family would lose their financial support.

World traveler and now US refugee extraordinaire, Aden Hilowle, was initially cared for by Catholic Charities in Arizona.

It took eight days to reach Ethiopia and contact his friends. His father sent him $14,000 from the sale of Hilowle’s house. [He had a house to sell?  But what about wifey?—ed]

Hilowle contacted a human smuggler. For $14,000, he could get a passport and a visa to Italy, but for $7,000 he could get a visa to Cuba, from the smuggler. From Cuba, he could go to the U.S. Hilowle left Ethiopia on Sept. 15, 2009 for Cuba.

He said he flew to Dubai, Moscow, Cuba and finally Ecuador for another $2,000. From Ecuador he traveled to Columbia in the back of a semi-truck with 45 other people.

“I was nearly to die,” he said.

He traveled from Columbia to Panama, where he was detained for three months and learned Spanish.

Next, he traveled through Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala in the backs of commercial trucks.

Once, he thought he would asphyxiate. The entire truck was incredibly hot and the air was stifling. When the two drivers opened the back of the truck, Hilowle told them in Spanish he wouldn’t go back in the truck because he thought he was going to die. They threatened to leave him on the side of the road.

At the border check points the drivers locked Hilowle into a fold-up bunk bed. The room between the bed and the wall was so small Hilowle had to place his elbow against the bottom of the bed so he could breathe.

After enduring four check points, Hilowle refused to get back into the fold up bed. A police officer caught Hilowle, but the truck drivers bribed him, he said. The police officer took the money and offered to drive Hilowle to the border in his car. By the time they reached the border, they were friends. The officer said he too would like to go to America.

Hilowle traveled through Mexico from Guatemala via tourist bus, foot, plane and car. On March 3, 2010, around 5 p.m., Hilowle arrived in the border town of San Luis, Ariz., where he sought political asylum.

American border officials handcuffed Hilowle.

Like many political asylees, he was sent to a federal detention center. He refers to it as a prison.

“They give you food and shelter but no freedom,” Hilowle said. “You can’t adapt to prison.”

On Jan. 31, 2011 Hilowle was released from detention. He was granted refugee status, he said, and Catholic Charities resettled him in Serrano Village.

Surely by now wife and children have joined Hilowle and everyone lives happily ever after (on the US taxpayer)!
We are so gullible.

Rohingya Muslims arriving in Malaysia in large numbers, how many are headed to the US?

This is a story I never got around to last week (traveling), but wanted to be sure you see it and understand that….

….we are probably taking some of the illegal migrants that arrive in Malaysia as ‘refugees’ to your towns and cities.

Rohingya in Malaysia. Are they getting in line for America? (European Pressphoto Agency)

We haven’t written much about the Rohingya issue in Burma and Bangladesh lately, however we followed it for years because initially the US State Department was not accepting as refugees Rohingya Muslims (at one point some of their Islamic groups were actually on a State Dept. list of potential terrorist groups).

They are now being resettled in the US among the tens of thousands of Christian Burmese people we have brought in over the last ten years.

US Conference of Catholic Bishops:  we want some Rohingya to resettle!

One of my big surprises occurred when I attended a State Department “scoping meeting” and heard the US Conference of Catholic Bishops representative tell the State Department we needed to bring in more Rohingya Muslims, here in 2013.   By the way, here is a pretty good summary post if you would like more background on the Rohingya problem.  For ambitious readers! see that we have written 175 posts archived in our Rohingya Reports category.

Also, readers may want to review our posts on Esar Met, a Burmese Muslim convicted of raping and murdering a Christian girl in Utah shortly after his arrival in the US.  Met and the girl had lived in separate parts of the same UN refugee camp in Thailand because Muslims and Christians are not housed together.  In America they were put in the same apartment complex most likely by one of the resettlement contractors working in Salt Lake City.  Here is one of many posts on the murder case.

Here is the AP story at the Los Angeles Times that I wanted you to see.  Rohingya are on the move.

Brave Burmese monks (2013) protest the Organization of Islamic Cooperation attempts to get a foothold in Burma (aka Myanmar) in order to demand Rohingya rights.

About 1,600 Rohingya and Bangladeshi refugees have landed illegally in Malaysia and Indonesia in the last two days, apparently after human traffickers abandoned their virtual prison ships and left them to fend for themselves, officials said Monday.

One group of about 600 people arrived in the Indonesian coastal province of Aceh on four boats on Sunday, and at about the same time a total of 1,018 landed in three boats on the northern resort island of Langkawi.

How many Burmese refugees are we taking?

The mostly Christian Burmese are one of the largest (if not the largest) ethnic group of refugees we have resettled since 2005 (I checked the data from January 2005 until May 1, 2015).

This is what I learned:  We resettled 140,812 Burmese refugees since 2005.***

This surprised me:  In that number were 12,615 Burmese Muslims!  The word Rohingya is not used, but most certainly the Rohingya represent a large portion (if not all) of that number.

We process (into the US) large numbers of supposed refugees in Malaysia!  Who are they?

In the first seven months of FY 2015 (from Oct. 1, 2014-April 30, 2015) we actually admitted 5,727 “refugees” from Malaysia (see processing country data here). Who are they, and why are we admitting them?

If these Rohingya make it to Malaysia they are supposed to apply for asylum in that safe Muslim country.

Malaysia should not be simply a way-station on the road to the West.

I hope that we are not doing what we are doing illegally in Malta and that is bringing some of Malta’s illegal alien boat people to America!

***Addendum:  I went back to data bases to see how many Burmese refugees we admitted in this fiscal year (from Oct. 1, 2014 until May 1, 2015).  That is seven months.  We admitted 9,040 Burmese and 1,649 of those are Muslims (about 18%).  If they continue at that pace this will be the top year for the entry of Burmese Muslims into the US.

Everyone is abuzz about the DHS bus carrying Somalis looking for asylum in the US

Surely you’ve seen the news by now (it is all over the internet) about the DHS bus in California carrying Somalis and other Africans apprehended at our southern border and now asking for asylum.

The story, that began as a video clip making the rounds of social media is fleshed out further here at World Net Daily.   Luckily broadcaster Anita Fuentes of ‘Open your eyes people,’ was there to ask questions of the driver and to film the bus.

Go to World Net Daily for the full story and more about Somalis and asylum in the US.

For new readers, once an alien is granted asylum they may receive all of the social service benefits that a normal refugee gets, and they may get care from one of the federal resettlement contractors.

Asha Omar (19) granted asylum in El Paso, Texas in 2010, tells the improbable tale that she “made her way” by herself to America with a stop in Cuba before reaching the Mexican border. http://www.lcsun-news.com/las_cruces-news/ci_17039428

This is not news to us!

We have been telling readers for years about the Somali trail from Africa to our southern border and a claim of asylum.

In 2011, we urged Congress to investigate the strange phenomenon of a supposedly impoverished young Somali traveling sometimes from Somalia to Syria to Russia to Cuba and then to Central America or Mexico and making it to the US border where a claim for asylum would be made with the help of immigration lawyers who seemed to be expecting them!

It is not just in the Mediterranean region where an invasion is occurring!

Here is the 2011 post in which I urged Congress to investigate this strange business:

Is there a conspiracy by NGO’s to bring asylum seekers to US borders?

Here is an earlier post (2009) about Africans getting to South America on their way to the US southern border:

African asylum seekers reaching South America, hope to get to the US

And, here is a more recent post on the same subject:

Six Somalis headed to US arrested in Mexico

There are more posts on the same subject here at RRW, but no time to search for them right now.

I once saw a fantastic travel map for Somalis who ‘made their way’ to Russia and then flew to Cuba from there.  Next stop was Mexico and the US border (wish I could find it to show you!).

Does no one ever ask?  Who is helping these ‘youths’ and who is paying for it all?   I’ve seen estimates that such a travel plan costs upwards of $10,000.
