Bowling Green, KY: finding employment for refugees has become an industry in itself….

Yes, thanks in large part to taxpayer-funded grants to this new entrepreneurial “business.”

Your tax dollars at work!

The “non-profit” organization touted in this piece is the Community Action of Southern Kentucky(CASOKY).  It’s kind of like ACORN—help the poor connect with “services,” which of course means welfare and other taxpayer funded programs, and then it serves as a political voice as well.    Now they are expanding into the refugee industry….

Before you read the story, get this:  CASOKY is a $22 million a year outfit that gets $18 million from government grants (recent Form 990 is here).

Maybe instead of pushing for amnesty for illegal aliens, a certain US Senator from Kentucky (Senator Rand Paul!) concerned with government spending should do something really challenging—-begin questioning the need for federal and state taxpayers to pay for this type of mini-ACORN organization.

Here from the Daily News is the story from the “welcoming” city of Bowling Green:*

…. the network of employers and agencies attempting to connect with the city’s immigrants and refugees has crystallized and nearly become an industry in itself.

[…..]

Community Action of Southern Kentucky has increased its presence this year among Bowling Green’s international community.

The nonprofit agency, which provides programs and services to people dealing with poverty, began offering refugee-specific services this year.

Specialized job search training for special people—refugees (to compete with American unemployed)—yippee!

Being a job development specialist in the Refugee Employment Program at Community Action means acclimating refugees to the American job culture, and that entails familiarizing refugees with the job interviewing process, how to market themselves and how to make the best impression with potential employers.

“We help new arrivals integrate into the community and get them connected with local resources, we work on them with interviewing, doing job applications, putting together the resumes that they need,” Ray [Heath Ray] said. “We’re open-ended as to what we can do. Whatever the need is, we try to work with them.”

Employment specialists screen all refugee clients for employers and refer the most qualified job candidates to an employer with a particular need, and the program can provide services to support new employees after they are placed in jobs.  [What sort of services?—ed]

Currently, a team of three people in the employment program are assisting an estimated 80 clients, Ray said.

Only available to refugees who have lived in the US for less than five years—and you pay for it with grant money!

The program, which began in March thanks to grant funding, is limited to refugees who have lived in the U.S. for less than five years.

Refugees served in the program come from many countries torn by war and ethnic, political or religious strife, particularly Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Iraq, Burma and Cuba.

For new readers we have written a lot about the “preferred community” of Bowling Green.  Type ‘Bowling Green’ into our search function and you will see what I mean (ahhh! for fun I just counted all the posts in which Bowling Green, KY is mentioned and it’s over 75!).

Bowling Green also made national news in June 2011, when two Iraqi refugees were arrested there on terrorism charges, they have subsequently been found guilty and sentenced to prison.

One of the earliest posts I wrote about Bowling Green was this story where a homeowner shot and killed a Bosnian teen breaking into his home.  The homeowner was ultimately exonerated because he was protecting his property!

Update:  I see Friends of Refugees has another report on how the federal refugee contractors are not doing their jobs in Bowling Green.

California: Fishy Iraqi “hate-crime” story was well, fishy!

We now have learned that the “hate crime” story from El Cajon* that I reported here in April in the wake of the Trayvon Martin “hate crime” story turns out to be wrong.  No kidding!  The Iraqi husband has been arrested for killing his own Iraqi wife.  It was a hate crime alright—Iraqi man on Iraqi woman hate.

This is how I began my post in April:

CAIR and the Muslim grievance lobby are trying oh-so-hard to elevate this tragic murder of a young Iraqi mother in California to be on par with the Trayvon Martin circus in Florida.   I’ve been reading about the case elsewhere and there is something fishy about it.

Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit has the updated real story, here:

It was all a lie – There was no hate crime…

Back in March, Kassim Alhimidi appealed to the local community to help find his wife’s killer. The family told reporters the mysterious killer snuck through the garden and into the back door and murdered Shaima Alawadi in a hate crime.

A note left with the woman’s body read:

“Go back to your own country. You’re a terrorist.”

Fast forward to November….

Police yesterday arrested Kassim Alhimidi on suspicion of murder.
He killed her while the kids were getting ready for school – then blamed it on whitey.

The local CAIR office now calls it a “family tragedy.”  Where is the apology?

* For new readers, El Cajon is a refugee resettlement “welcoming” community.  Type ‘El Cajon’ into our search function for more on the problems they have there.  Also check out our category on ‘Iraqi Refugees’ with its over 500 posts!  Maybe we need to give that category a subtitle—Iraqis gone wild!

Reportedly Sweden to deport 20,000 Iraqis in next two months?

I’m thinking someone added an extra zero to this number or something!   If Sweden has the nerve to do something like that I will be amazed.

The Iraqis say they are used to living in Sweden and couldn’t assimilate back to Iraq?   I think they have just become accustomed getting Swedish stuff*—you know welfare.  Gosh, it’s the same the world over!

From Shafaq News:

A diplomatic source revealed on Tuesday that Sweden will deport more than 20 thousand Iraqi refugees to Iraq during the next two months while warned from the lack of a good social environment for their stay in Iraq.

The source, who asked not to be named, said in an interview with “Shafaq News”, that “Sweden intends to return more than 20 thousand Iraqi refugees in the next two months which warns from the presence of a disaster in the lack of a social environment for their stay in Iraq.”

Can’t assimilate back in Iraq!

The source explained that “the Iraqi refugees in Sweden were accustomed to live in a complete different environment than Iraqi environment which makes their integration process in the Iraqi society very difficult.”

* I am assuming these are mostly Muslim Kurds, but they could be sending Christians back too for all I know and that would be a different story because Christians are being persecuted still in Iraq.

Readers:  This is our 540th post in our Iraqi refugee category, here.

Iraqis assimilating in Arizona—NOT!

Iraqi refugees get PROBATION for beating up daughter/sister because she talked to a man.

From Gantdaily.com

Phoenix, AZ, United States (4E) – An Arizona judge on Tuesday sentenced to two years probation three Iraqi refugees for beating up their female family member in February because she talked with a man.  [Probation only! I hope the victim has been removed from this family—ed]

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Joseph Kreamer meted the sentence to Yusra Farhan, 51, her husband, Mohammed Altameemi, 46, and the couple’s daughter, Tabarak Altameemi, 18. They pleaded guilty in October to disorderly conduct, unlawful imprisonment and domestic violence, and misdemeanor assault.

The couple and their daughter beat up another daughter, Aiya Altameemi, 20, on Feb. 6 at their home near 35th and Myrtle avenues in Phoenix. The couple and their daughter, who were later arrested, defended their actions citing Iraqi culture forbidding women from talking with men.

The victim reported the beating to officials of the school where she was studying. Aiya said in her affidavit that her parents and sister were trying to protect her virginity as she was arranged to be married to a 38-year-old man.

The father had admitted to police that he tried to kill his daughter and that he wanted to punish her for violating their culture.

Remember 40% percent of American Muslims want Shariah Law!   I sure hope the judge didn’t consider Shariah Law when he gave them a light sentence.

Holland: Iraqi illegal aliens refuse to leave

They say they will be killed because they are not Shiites.   But, when Obama took us out of Iraq he told us everything was fine there—new government, no more religious warfare—what gives?

Sure looks like the same sort of camp “refugees” have set up in Germany demanding to be taken care of, here.  (Probably a coordinated protest across Europe.)

From the BBC (and by the way, no mention of women/children or Christians in the camp, probably Sunni young men or the reporter would have highlighted the women):

In The Hague dozens of Iraqi refugees have set up camp together, jointly resisting the government that wants to send them home.

A medley of tents are pitched across the neatly manicured Dutch grass, their khaki shades mixing with the fallen leaves from an overhanging lime tree to create an impromptu seasonal collage.

It is still early when we arrive at the camp, near the central station in The Hague, the administrative centre of the Netherlands.

“Terrorists will shoot them,” they say, but most of the “terrorists” in Iraq were/are Sunni Muslims?

The campers – about 60 of them – are living on borrowed time. Their visas have expired. They are now illegal residents, littering the landscape in an act of defiance, refusing to disappear quietly back to Baghdad.

“If I go back I will be dead,” says Ajid.

He has just woken up, but already his arms are outstretched, hands grasping at the air, imploring us to understand. “I know 100% if I go back to Baghdad I will be killed, they will shoot me.”

Who will shoot you? “The terrorists, I phone home and no-one knows where my family are, they say my street is kaput, broken. If you are Christian or [Sunni] Muslim you cannot live in Baghdad.”

The Netherlands does not send everyone back, each “asylum seeker” is reviewed individually.

According to the latest figures, 40-45% of Iraqi asylum claims in the Netherlands were approved.

The Dutch “rightwing” believes Holland will be Greece if they are allowed to stay.

The BBC story continues:

Some warn that allowing illegal immigrants to stay in the Netherlands will provoke a social crisis.

“You see what happened in Greece, with Golden Dawn? That will happen here,” says right-wing commentator Geert Tomlow.

He is referring to the Greek neo-Nazi party that is seeing a surge of support and which has been accused of violence against immigrants.

The threat of far-right street violence seems at odds with the Netherlands’ reputation as a liberal nation.

“You don’t believe it? Look at what happened with the Nazis – we collaborated,” says Mr Tomlow. “If the government doesn’t do something about this ‘Catch 22’ position, then people will take things into their own hands.

“We see the economy getting worse and we can’t afford to pay for these illegal people anymore, otherwise we suffer.”

Be sure to watch the accompanying film and note the excellent English the main spokesman uses to describe their ‘plight’ to the credulous reporterette!   Maybe she might have asked, have any of you committed crimes here in Holland?  Were you involved in any militia activity back in Iraq?  Are you members of Al-Qaeda?  Stuff like that!
