Obama announces Syrian refugee numbers for resettlement to US—4,000 for FY2015

But, I don’t buy it! The numbers will be much higher!

The UNHCR has been spouting-off that the US will be on par with Germany in taking Syrians which is 10,000 or more per year!  Also, State Department honcho Simon Henshaw said in Turkey recently that our Syrian resettlement will come close to our Iraqi numbers in recent years which is close to 20,000 per year (approximately 68% of the Iraqis we are taking are Muslims)!

Here is the Washington Post on the FY 2015 Presidential Determination.  Hat tip: Skip

As you read this article with its several references to 2015, remember FY 2015 begins TODAY!

The Obama administration will greatly increase the number of Syrian refugees approved for permanent resettlement in the United States next year but has opted against a separate refugee program to serve victims of that intractable civil war, administration officials said Tuesday.

The State Department is reviewing more than 4,000 applications from Syrian refugees seeking permanent homes in the United States next year or beyond, up from dozens considered for resettlement this year and last, officials said. The expansion reflects determinations by the United Nations refugee agency and the United States that tens of thousands of refugees living outside Syria are unlikely to ever be able to return.

The White House said Tuesday that it has approved permanent resettlement for up to 70,000 refugees worldwide next year, the same figure as for fiscal 2014.

Up to 33,000 could be resettled from the Middle East and South Asia, including Syria. Although there is no set target for Syrian refugees, they are expected to form a far larger percentage of the total than ever before.

The State Department has received more than 4,000 referrals in recent months and is processing them, a State Department official said. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak for attribution, said “large numbers” of Syrian refugees will begin to arrive in 2015.

We are then expected to be grateful to Obama for not setting up a separate Syrian program to bring in even greater numbers which the refugee resettlement contractors must have been clamoring for.  Remember the State Department kept the contractor’s testimony secret from the public here in June.

The Bhutanese resettlement program which the Bush Administration began will be closed we are told, so there will be lots more room in the regional allotment for the Syrians!  We resettled over 8,000 Bhutanese in 11 months of FY2014, here.

So we will increase the number of Muslims entering the US because the Bhutanese are mostly Hindus (60%), Buddhists and Christians.

Next year, Syrians seeking resettlement in the United States will benefit from the closure of a dedicated program for refugees from Bhutan that has brought tens of thousands of refugees to America over several years.

Because all the nations of the Middle East and South Asia are lumped together for purposes of refugee consideration, elimination of special consideration for the Bhutanese gives other applicants from the same region a better shot.

More importantly, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees has expanded the number of Syrians it screens for resettlement anywhere, including the United States.

The UN picks most of our refugees!

The overwhelming majority of refugees resettled in the United States are first identified as candidates by the UNHCR. The United States then does its own review. The UNHCR hopes to identify 50,000 for resettlement somewhere next year, and another 50,000 in 2016.

The WaPo story mentions briefly at the end that the Presidential Determination released yesterday does not mention Syrians by name at all—of course not!    Would you expect any honesty from this White House in the run-up to November elections?

Update:  Be sure to check the WaPo comments, they are more interesting than the news itself (well almost!).

Relatives of Syrian refugees join ISIS

Syrians wanting in to Turkey. Who is going to sort out which are legitimate refugees and which are ISIS sympathizers? Photo: http://www.theguardian.com/world/gallery/2014/sep/23/violence-erupts-as-syrians-fleeing-isis-cross-the-turkish-border-in-pictures

So how will security screening be done for the thousands of Syrians expected to enter the US from Turkey?

From CCTVAmerica (China*** News outlet):

Turkey is now host to more than 144,000 new Syrian refugees who have fled Islamic State battles in the past week. Some have relatives now fighting for IS. CCTV America’s Michal Bardavid reports from a Syrian border in Turkey.

Thousands of Syrians have joined the Islamic State or IS, abandoning their family. Those who are left behind are faced with the reality and challenges that their relatives are now part of a brutal and extremist organization.

Watch the news clip where the “refugees” distance themselves from their IS fighter relatives.  They aren’t dumb, they know their chances of moving on to the good life in a Western country will be diminished by their Caliphate-creating family members.

Good luck Homeland Security sorting through these people!

The Obama Administration should be announcing shortly how many Syrians we will be taking in FY2015 which begins on Wednesday (Oct. 1).

*** Just FYI, China doesn’t take refugees so they can keep China for Chinese people!

1980’s Sanctuary Movement being renewed in 2014!

A large number of Central Americans in the US now entered illegally in the 1980’s thanks to the “help” of churches throughout the US where church members literally sneaked them across the border and distributed them throughout America.

In Maryland, for example, the illegal alien advocacy group—CASA de Maryland—supported today by the Governor and other Democrat elected officials with your tax dollars sprang from the original Communist-leaning Sanctuary Movement of the ’80’s.

Excellent read on what they where up to in the first Sanctuary Movement (but from the perspective of an author who condoned it). Why don’t we have many (any?) books from those who oppose?

By the way, some of those tens of thousands of Central Americans who got in here through Sanctuary ultimately were rewarded with that sham of a LEGAL immigration program—Temporary Protected Status—and are now the ‘family member’ sponsors of the Unaccompanied Alien Children (it all ties together!).

Some churches of the ‘religious Left’ are calling for a Sanctuary 2014 movement!

At least one is a repeat offender since it was a leading church of the underground railroad that shipped illegals throughout America over three decades ago.

There are several stories on the new movement involving churches in mostly Arizona and Chicago (Catholics in the 1980s) so far, but I would not be surprised to learn that some of the 24 churches offering “sanctuary” to illegal aliens are spread across America and may include the Presbyterian Church in Takoma Park, Maryland—CASA de Maryland’s original home.

See one of our posts on the original Sanctuary Movement, here.  If you really want to know more about the 1980’s Sanctuary Movement, see my many posts at Potomac Tea Party Report by clicking here.

And, here is one of several stories this week, this one at Arizona Central:

It started with a church in Tucson offering sanctuary to undocumented immigrants facing deportation.

But now dozens of faith communities across the country are inviting immigrants in the U.S. illegally to seek protection from deportation inside their walls.

They are part of a budding resurgence of the 1980s sanctuary movement, when hundreds of churches offered protection to refugees fleeing civil war in Central America.

This time around, church leaders say, they are responding to the federal government’s failure to reform the nation’s broken immigration system and counter record levels of deportations under President Barack Obama’s administration.

“Our elected leaders have failed to act,” said Alison Harrington, pastor at Southside Presbyterian Church in Tucson, which pioneered the 1980s sanctuary movement and earlier this year began taking in undocumented immigrants facing deportation.

Kerry uses the words “climate refugees,” says the problem is on par with ISIS and Ebola

Watch for it!  This is going to be one more excuse for the West to be pressured into opening the flood gates to the third world. Or, to at least send gazillion dollars down rat holes.

http://allenwestrepublic.com/2014/02/18/allen-west-excuse-me-really-i-thought-it-was-the-zombie-apocalypse/

We’ve been telling you in our “climate refugees” category about the behind-the-scenes scuffling over using the word “refugees” for people who are moving around due to global warming (or perceived global warming).

The humanitarians are not thrilled that the environmentalists are tapping into the good image they have built up over the warm and fuzzy word—refugee.  (That image is crumbling now anyway because of increased attention to not only the demands “refugees” put on “welcoming” countries, but to the downright lies that go on with those driving the refugee agenda.)  The Left is always manipulating the language!

Here is Secretary of State John Kerry in advance of the UN meeting which opens today, and where Obama is going to try to change the subject from Islamic terrorists to the threat of global warming (climate change now that they know we really aren’t warming).

From The Hill:

Secretary of State John Kerry said the threats posed by climate change should be addressed with as much “immediacy” as confronting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and the Ebola outbreak.

During a meeting with foreign ministers on Sunday, Kerry said global warming is creating “climate refugees.”

We see people fighting over water in some places. There are huge challenges to food security and challenges to the ecosystem, our fisheries and … the acidification of the ocean is a challenge for all of us,” Kerry said.

“And when you accrue all of this, while we are confronting ISIL and we are confronting terrorism and we are confronting Ebola and other things, those are immediate,” he added, using an alternate acronym for the terrorist group.

“This also has an immediacy that people need to come to understand, but it has even greater longer-term consequences that can cost hundreds of billions, trillions of dollars, lives, and the security of the world,” Kerry continued.

Kerry has drawn the ire of lawmakers in the past for comparing the threats of climate change to terrorism, and weapons of mass destruction.

Still, Kerry hasn’t backed down, and is a key player in President Obama’s diplomatic efforts on climate change.

Kerry made the comments ahead of a United Nations climate summit in New York where the president on Tuesday will urge 125 heads of state to take “ambitious” action in the fight against global warming.

There goes the hellhole myth for El Salvador and Guatemala; so why the flood of migrants?

Could it be that Obama Administration pals in the No Borders movement (including the Catholic Church) used the “children” as pawns and started the stampede northward?  I think so, and hope one day we will all have the truth.

In the meantime, here comes a worldwide study that puts El Salvador and Guatemala in the top ten countries where people are most satisfied with their lives, while the US is number 12!

From the Daily Mail  (hat tip: ‘pungentpeppers’).  A picture is worth a thousand words:

Latin America is the place to feel happy: Seven of the top 10 countries in the well-being poll hailed from the Americas, with Canada rounding out the top 10. Six of the 10 worst were from Africa

Here is how the article begins (Respondents were asked to rate their well-being over five categories: purpose, social, financial, community and physical):

People in Panama feel happiest about their lives, according to a new global well-being poll in which the U.S. finished 12th and the United Kingdom 26th.

There were six Latin American countries in the top 10 in the poll, which asked people to measure their well-being across five key areas.

Panamanians were well above the world average for feeling positive about their lives – 61 per cent were found to be ‘thriving’ in at least three of the five facets – compared with just 17 per cent internationally.
