‘Religious’ refugee resettlement contractor wants more refugee workers in North Carolina

Is there any connection between Obama wooing big businesses to get on board with his threat to go-it-alone on immigration and the spate of stories we are seeing about how much businesses love their refugee labor force?  I wonder.

First we note this must-read article at Politico about the Obama Administration working to expand its plans for an executive branch-driven immigration overhaul by sweetening the pot for big businesses looking for tech labor and cheap labor (in the case of refugees it is cheap and captive labor!).

Tamar Jacoby: It’s all about promoting the free flow of labor into the US. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2013/02/13/washington-lobbyist-for-big-business-the-basic-goal-is-to-promote-the-free-flow-of-labor-into-the-usa/

Public opposition has been building against more immigration generally as the 2014 election season advances in light of the illegal alien invasion on the southern border this summer.  However, if Obama can get big business on board, and thus blunt any establishment Republican opposition to changes in immigration policy (law!), it could be a winner for the Dems and for big business this fall.

Politico:

Representatives from Oracle, Cisco, Fwd.US, Microsoft, Accenture, Compete America and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce were among those present at a wide-ranging Aug. 1 session…

Later in the story we hear from Tamar Jacoby that she doesn’t want the needs of employers who want low-skilled laborers left out of the discussion.  See also Jacoby with Grover Norquist in 2009 NumbersUSA expose’.

Why so many stories lately about the refugee resettlement contractors*** serving as employment services for businesses?

The contractors previously kept a pretty low profile about their services to businesses large and small (they especially like meatpacking companies and the hotel/service sector).

Just last week the Washington Post wrote glowingly about the role resettlement contractor Church World Service is playing in bringing refugee laborers to North Carolina, here.   I wonder do the businesses give CWS a finders-fee for bringing them laborers?

Now here is the Winston-Salem Journal telling us how much another contractor, World Relief (National Association of Evangelicals)  is doing for North Carolina businesses.  It is a win-win—contractors get to wear the white hat of humanitarianism while making money!   Is World Relief in competition for refugee bodies with CWS?

World Relief’s Andrew Timbie begs US State Department in Washington for more refugees for NC. Remember readers that contractors are paid by the head for everyone they resettle.

KERNERSVILLE — The work here at EFI, which makes architectural glass and aluminum, takes strength and skill. Glass sheets can weigh as much as 155 pounds and the measurements must be exact. On a summer morning, the plant floor is noisy and hot.

In the company’s early years, it had trouble finding and keeping reliable employees. But these days, when Jeanne Clary, the company’s human resources director, has a vacancy she calls the World Relief office in High Point, a local refugee resettlement agency.

“I will almost always call World Relief first,” said Clary.

[….]

Andrew Timbie, the director of the High Point office of World Relief, has spent the summer making a pitch to his national office to send refugees this way. He expects to resettle 450 refugees in the next year, with a handful from Syria. “Generally speaking it’s a very good area for refugee resettlement,” he said. “The weather’s good. It’s warm. There’s a newcomer’s school. There are clinics here. There are lots of jobs for refugees.”

With the federal and state welfare goodies coming their way, businesses don’t have to feel bad about the low wages that are discouraging American workers.

The federal government provides refugees with a stipend that lasts for three months and extended federal benefits for six more months. They are also eligible for state aid, such as food stamps and Medicaid. But Timbie’s first goal is to help refugees find a job. In spite of North Carolina’s unemployment rate of 6.4 percent, Timbie said he can count on a handful of employers other than EFI that are eager to hire refugees, among them Ralph Lauren Corp. and Tyson Foods Inc..

LOL!  Tyson Foods is no surprise, they hire refugees and change American small towns throughout the mid West and South.  But, see Ralph Lauren goes to North Carolina, here—  says they will bring high-skilled jobs.  So how do the third-world refugees fit in?  Are they going to clean the offices at night?

There is much more in the W-S Journal, so please read it.

We have many posts here on North Carolina.  You might wish to review several from 2010 in which contractors (the Lutherans at that time) in North Carolina came under fire for overloading some locations and then not taking proper care of the refugees they resettled.

***The federal refugee resettlement contractors (I suspect grant recipient big dogs Baptist Child and Family Services and Southwest Key Programs  are now devouring all the federal cash):

Prime Minister calls for Swedes to show tolerance toward the ‘refugee’ in-migration; cost

In order for there to have been this speech by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt there must be some serious rumblings of unwelcome from the average Swedish citizen.  It doesn’t take a genius to see that there is only so much money to go around when a country invites hordes of mostly needy Muslim third-worlders to come-on-in as Sweden has been doing.

Obama with Swedish Prime Minister Reinfeldt: both have allowed their countries to be overrun during their tenures, share African ancestry.

See our complete (and now lengthy archive) on Sweden, here.

Looks like in Sweden, as in America, this election season immigration is the hot button issue every pol must address.

From The Local:

Swedish prime minister and Moderate Party leader Fredrik Reinfeldt called on Swedes to show tolerance to refugees seeking safety in the country in his summer speech on Saturday.

“Show tolerance,” he urged referring to the increasing number of people fleeing wars in Syria and Iraq.

“I know that this will cause friction. I therefore call on the Swedish people to show patience and open their hearts.”

Reinfeldt cited the cost of taking care of asylum-seekers as one of the reasons why voters can expect no more spending pledges from the government before the September 14th election. [No more “pledges,” but what about the reality once the election is over?—ed]

“We will promise no more in this election campaign,” he said.

The Prime Minister, who was speaking in combination with a Moderate Party election meeting on Norrmalmstorg in central Stockholm, observed that as many people were arriving now as during the Balkan wars of the 1990s.

He furthermore expressed ‘astonishment’ at the spending pledges made by the opposition parties and questioned where the money was going to come from to finance them.

See wikipedia on the “moderate” Reinfeldt here:   “He has revealed that his personal distaste for the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats party is based on his partly African ancestry.”   (Gee, kind of like Obama!)

UACs: Appropriate food, appropriate music, medical care, and public education (in Mayan?)

We have a troika of stories this morning on what the ‘unaccompanied alien children’ invasion means for US and local taxpayers going forward.

Since it’s still summer vacation (and some of you are still at Martha’s Vineyard), I don’t think the full impact will be felt for another couple of weeks, but get ready for it.

First, this morning reader Nisi sent us this article from the Washington Times yesterday which tells us a bit more about how the refugee-wannabee “children” are being cared for by Office of Refugee Resettlement (HHS) contractors.

Here is how the detailed article (with a lot of facts and updates) opens:

From culturally sensitive music to special meals for the lactose intolerant, the organizations the federal government is paying to house and care for the children who have surged across the border illegally are taking pains to make sure they are as comfortable as possible.

Dietitians scrutinize the menus each day to make sure they include enough whole grains but not whole milk. Counselors offer life skills classes in Spanish, and intensive English language training, including use of the Rosetta Stone program. Doctors and dentists treat the children at taxpayers’ expense — often the first medical care of the children’s lives.

Then we must educate the “children” says the Obama Department of Education.

Here is the news at Breitbart about the fact sheet released earlier this week, hat tip: Erich.

And, here is a really informative article from World Net Daily (yesterday) by Leo Hohmann about the impact of the order (to educate the children) which is already being felt in local school districts entitled: ‘Some speak Mayan’: Illegal kids swamp public schools.

I bet they don’t have a Rosetta Stone program for twenty tribal versions of Mayan!

Dr. Eloise Barron (right), Hall County Asst. Superintendent of Schools (obviously working and not at the ‘Vineyard’) telling local school board members what they are up against. http://www.accessnorthga.com/detail.php?n=278155

Imagine trying to educate a student who cannot speak English or any of the common Spanish dialects, has never spent a day in school in his life and is now well into his teens.

As school starts in districts around the country, this is precisely the task many teachers will face as thousands of unaccompanied alien children from Central America show up for class.

At Hall County Schools about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta, 35 Central American students have enrolled so far and another 15 or so are expected this week, school officials told WND. Some will need expensive interpreters for obscure dialects, if they can even be found.

“There are 21 dialects of Spanish, all so different,” said Eloise Barron, assistant superintendent for teachers and learning at Hall County Schools.

And some of the Central American children are arriving from remote villages that speak only in Mayan, which is not one language but a family of more than 20 ancient tribal tongues.

“Some speak Mayan, and so the problem we’re having is we have about a third of our student population is Hispanic to begin with and some of the individuals we have we’re unable to converse with because they don’t know Spanish, and of course not English, so we’re having difficulty communicating,” Barron said.

There is more, read it all.

And be sure to see an earlier piece by ‘pungentpeppers’ about the legal needs of the “children” and how there aren’t sufficient interpreters for them.

Panic! Over 300,000 nationwide who signed up for Obamacare may be ineligible immigrants

The Associated Press is reporting that Florida and Texas top the list of states with the greatest number of people who may be booted from health coverage under the Obama/Pelosi Affordable Care Act.  Immigrants have until September 5th to produce documents showing their eligibility. I guess this also means they have been enjoying subsidized health coverage for some time already.

One more problem for the dynamic duo!

Will Obama illegally extend this deadline too?

AP at WPTV 5 West Palm Beach:

MIAMI (AP) — Nearly 100,000 Floridians who bought health insurance through the Affordable Care Act could have their taxpayer-subsidized coverage canceled if they don’t send citizenship and immigration documents to confirm their eligibility by Sept. 5.

Federal health officials sent out letters in English and Spanish to consumers Tuesday warning there was an inconsistency between what they wrote on their health insurance application and the immigration and citizenship information that the feds have on record. Officials will reach out to consumers two more times by phone and once via email before the deadline. The documents must be submitted by Sept. 5 or coverage will end Sept. 30.

Many consumers have already been contacted five to seven times, but still haven’t responded, senior health officials said on a conference call Tuesday.

Of the 8 million people around the country who signed up for private coverage through President Barack Obama’s law, more than 2 million at one point had discrepancies of one sort or another that could have affected their eligibility. That number has been greatly reduced — but the remaining cases are proving difficult to untangle.

Nearly 1 million U.S. consumers have immigration-related inconsistencies with their applications. The feds have closed 450,000 cases and another 210,000 are in progress. But 310,000 consumers haven’t submitted any documents, including 93,800 in Florida.

Florida has the highest number, followed by Texas with 52,700, according to data from federal health officials.

By the way, legal refugees should have no problem getting coverage under Obamacare and in fact the Office of Refugee Resettlement is looking to states which have expanded Medicaid under Obamacare to be states they will target with more refugee placement.  See news about “Key Indicators” here.

Alinsky: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

Saul Alinsky, as everyone should know by now, is the ‘great’ mind behind the throne—Obama’s throne.  (Thanks to all of you who found my spelling error!)  Remember the rumors that Alinsky’s portrait hangs in the White House?   In his little book of evil (Rules for Radicals) he lays out his prescription for political success with twelve simple rules.

O’Keefe (who exposed ACORN) wades across the Rio Grande dressed as Osama bin Laden.

Number 5 (and one our side of the political debate seems almost incapable of using) is this one: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

Do you remember the incident in 2006 when New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd dared to make fun of Obama’s protruding ears and he chewed her out over it?  She was on to something—Obama knew if jokes and ridicule about him became a common practice he was done (in addition of course to knowing what a thin skin he has anyway!).

So today we start with a little humor!  James O’Keefe knows how to use Rule #5! Funny that we are the radicals now and the Obama-Left is the establishment.

I meant to post it the day it broke on Drudge!  Did you see James O’Keefe dressed as Osama bin Laden wading across the Rio Grande to break into America?  He was not caught by border patrol agents.  From the Washington Times:

Investigative filmmaker James O’Keefe exposes the U.S.-Mexico border’s vulnerability to terrorism in his latest undercover project, obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller.

O’Keefe’s Project Veritas video reminds viewers of recent statements by the president and Obama administration officials that the southern border is secure. O’Keefe then proceeds to Hudspeth County, Texas, to easily cross back and forth cross the Rio Grande wearing the costume of modern history’s most recognizable terrorist.

“I see no border patrol. I see no security,” O’Keefe said in the video before donning a bin Laden mask. “Thousands of people have stood in my footsteps right now. They’ve come from South America, Honduras, Guatemala, and they’ve all crossed the border. And if they can cross, anybody can cross.”

Watch the six minute Project Veritas video (it is only sort-of funny when you see how easy it is for terrorists to cross).

Robin Williams takes on the Jihadists

Then for your second laugh of the day, watch comedian Robin Williams take on the Jihadists in Robin Williams’ Last Gift: Angering ISIS (hat tip: Judy).  He actually did get the Islamists going if the comments on twitter are any indication.

From PJ Tattler:

The Islamic State is omnipresent on Twitter these days, so it was curious to see the jihadists weighing in on the death of Robin Williams just as the rest of the world was last night.

However, they weren’t as kind to the kafir, heavily citing the above hilarious sketch he did about jihad and the whole idea of getting 72 virgins upon martyrdom.

Click here to watch Williams’ minute and a half stand-up routine on jihadists and their virgins.

Looking around at the controversy about Williams in the Muslim world, it seems reviews were mixed as this twitter mention (right) indicates.

Seriously…..

When we first started to read about Saul Alinsky back in 2007 (at the same time that RRW got its start), we named a category here “community destabilization” because that is one thing Alinsky (and his community organizers) sought to do in order to “change” America. My theory is that concern for American citizens in poverty went out of vogue (and frankly many Americans climbed into the middle class) so then impoverished immigrants became the pawns of choice—the new community destabilizing element for the radical Left (for Obama, Jarrett et al).
