UNHCR says US has pledged “open-ended resettlement numbers” for Syrians

What the heck does “open-ended” mean?

We have been puzzled in recent weeks about why there is no announcement from the US State Department about the number of Syrians they expect to resettle in the US this fiscal year (the fiscal year ends Sept. 30th).  As regular visitors to RRW  know, the contractors*** want 12,000-15,000 this year.

As of May 31st we have resettled 42 Syrians as “refugees.”   And, there isn’t much squawking coming from the contractors.  Do they know something we don’t know?

Here is the news release from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees:

Socialist UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2013/07/26/unhcr-guterres-looking-to-resettle-tens-of-thousands-of-syrians/

Geneva, 27 June 2014 – New offers of resettlement or humanitarian admissions for Syrian refugees were today pledged by Belgium, Ireland, Switzerland and Uruguay. In all, 565 new places were announced during a high-level meeting of 42 countries, taking the total number of offers received since mid-2013 to more than 34,700 places. In addition, the United States has pledged open-ended resettlement numbers.

The majority of offers to date come from European states, with Germany having offered over half the global total. [Invasion of Europe!—ed].   In all 22 countries have offered places for Syrian refugees so far.

High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres said: “I hope this momentum continues over the coming months. Resettlement and other humanitarian admission programmes are critical and can be life-saving for the victims of the conflict in Syria.

Now, go to the US Refugee Admission numbers for this year (so far, as of May 31).

Obama set the ceiling for admissions from the Near East/South Asia at 33,000 for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30th.  (See Presidential Determination for FY2014.)

We have taken 11,660 Iraqis so far.   6,005 came from Bhutan, and smaller numbers from other countries in the region bringing the total to 20,278.  There are also 2,000 spaces labeled as ‘unallocated reserve.’   It is those 2,000 spaces that most observers believe will be available to Syrians.

There is no such thing as open-ended resettlement, EXCEPT as this President has shown us time and again, he can make law since most members of the Legislative branch of government have abrogated their duty under the Constitution and are letting him get away with it!

Will the announcement on Syrians arriving in large numbers during the remaining 3 months of the fiscal year be the next stunner out of the lawless Obama Administration?

Commentary: Is US Sen. Lamar Alexander vulnerable in Tennessee? Yes! says a reader

Editors note:   In the wake of the stunning loss in Virginia by a squish on immigration—Rep. Eric Cantor—a reader from Tennessee sent us a comment.

***The Tennessee primary is August 7th, early voting begins on July 18th.***

Lamar Alexander: the next Eric Cantor beat down!

Anti-amnesty Tennessee state Rep. Joe Carr is challenging incumbent U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander in what could be the another Brat-Cantor race. Honest post-election commentary summed up Cantor’s defeat in Virginia as “he was pro amnesty so he lost.”

Sen. Lamar Alexander voted YES, helping to pass the pro-amnesty “Gang of Eight” (S.744), last year even though as Breitbart, reports, Lamar was told less than a month before his YES vote, that a yes vote would create the overwhelming border surge we are facing today:

“On May 29, 2013, less than a month before the Senate would pass its amnesty bill, officials from the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council of the American Federation of Government Employees wrote a letter to senators before the vote on the Senate’s comprehensive amnesty bill, warning them that passing a bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants would be a magnet that attracts more while subjecting illegal immigrant youths to victimization.”

Lamar and others were warned:

“Driven by mere speculation that S. 744 may be enacted by Congress, illegal border crossings have spiked dramatically. Thousands of unaccompanied children, runaways, and families now attempt to illegally enter the United States in hopes of receiving legalization.”

Estimates for illegal minors (unaccompanied alien children, aka UAC), in 2015 are as high as 142,000. In response, the Senate Appropriations Committee on which Lamar serves, voted to give Obama $1.94 billion, to help the administration with the amnesty motivated rush at the border. Ironically, the Congressional Budget Office estimates that amnesty YES votes like Lamar’s which included $39 billion to increase border security will only improve border security by a mere 8%.

Lamar’s YES vote on amnesty is also helping to bring new emergency shelters for hundreds of illegal minors to places like Lawrenceville, Virginia. Angry citizens packed a school auditorium to tell federal officials they didn’t want the disease, government spending and crime that would go along with bringing the illegal immigrants to their community. Gang affiliation has long ceased to be a bar for unaccompanied minors even when they are tatted head-to-toe with MS-13 gang tattoos.

Given the government’s explicit directive to Border Patrol to withhold information from the public, communities must be on alert.

Lamar’s primary challenger, state Rep. Joe Carr has a voting record on illegal immigration that looks nothing like Lamar’s.

Carr was the sponsor of Tennessee’s successful E-verify law and other legislative measures prohibiting taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants and banning sanctuary cities that serve as open invitations to illegal immigration.

Seems like an easy choice. Forget Lamar, VOTE CARR.

Editor:  See Rep. Carr’s website by clicking here and help him defeat Alexander.  Early voting begins July 18th so hurry!  See all of our posts on problems with refugees and immigration generally in Tennessee.  See especially this one about turning red states blue.  And, we have an entire category devoted to Nashville (click here), which is home to a well-established ‘pocket of resistance.’

Will the “unaccompanied children” be coming to your town? Feds are shopping for sites!

The people of Virginia say NO to Obama bureaucrats last week!

You surely haven’t missed this news, it is popping up everywhere as the Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) shops for locations in which to place hundreds of mostly teenaged illegal alien boys (dubbed “asylum seekers” and “refugees”) around the country, rather than returning them to their homes in Central America!

http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/orr/programs/ucs/about#stats

See the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s (in HHS) own stats at right.  Most of the “children” are males over 14 years old.

And, you thought this was a problem for Texas and Arizona!

More “pockets of resistance” to refugees?

The first story brought to our attention by several readers is the one from Lawrenceville, Virginia.  Here at Breitbart (emphasis mine):

LAWRENCEVILLE, Virginia—Over 1,000 angry residents of the small, rural town here gathered at Brunswick High School on Thursday and reamed out local, state, and federal government officials for offering the St. Paul’s College building as temporary emergency shelter for 500 unaccompanied alien children (UACs) coming from Texas. St. Paul’s, a historically black college, shut down five years ago after losing its accreditation.

Lawrenceville resident Arron Smith said firmly, “The people here don’t want to ask you any questions. We really don’t want to hear your selling points. We don’t want to hear your politically correct terms. We talk slow around here. We got a little twang, but talk direct. Let me say this to you as I look square in your eyes. We do not want you here.”

[….]

Although the UAC’s were scheduled to arrive on Thursday, the plan was put on hold following a severe backlash from the community. In the meantime, the panel of government officials continued to promise that if Lawrenceville residents did not want the UAC facility in operation, the plan would be scrapped.

New York state?

In a hurry to establish refugee camps, the feds make a boo-boo in New York State, also from The Blaze (hat tip: Erich):

Searching for places to house the “overwhelm[ing]” influx of Mexican and Central American children crossing the U.S. southern border without parents or guardians, government officials scouted out an abandoned hotel in Grand Island, New York on Friday.

Or at least the government thought the hotel was abandoned.

As it turned out, the 263-room Byblos Niagara Resort and Spa was fully booked.

“It looks like there’s been a mistake,” federal agents with the Homeland Security Department and the Border Patrol told the hotel manager, according to the Buffalo News.

[….]

A simple Google search could have saved the agents the trip the the hotel.

What is clear is that the feds were moving quickly, without giving local authorities much notice.

This article also says a location being considered is in Rochester, NY.

Illinois?

No way says Illinois Congressman!  Send them home!  From Illinois Review (hat tip: Cathy):

OLYMPIA FIELDS – Thousands of children from Central America are entering the United States through the nation’s southern border, overburdening local facilities and resources. The crisis has the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the search for lodging facilities elsewhere in the states.

One facility being considered is in Chicago’s far southern suburbs – the quiet community of Olympia Fields.

Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14) released a statement Saturday morning announcing this week the HHS will be conducting an inspection of a former monastery at 203rd and Governors Highway to be used to house some of the children that were illegally sent to America unaccompanied by their parents.

Hultgren called for the effort to halt, saying moving the children to Olympia Fields will only make matters worse for the children.

“We should immediately halt this effort. It is an ill-conceived stop gap solution that will only exacerbate the terrible situation for these children,” Hultgren said. “Moving these children further away from the border unnecessarily elongates their legal limbo at orphanage-style federal facilities while they undergo removal proceedings.”

Looking for more “pockets of resistance!”  Send us stories about the Obama Administration scouting your neighborhood for refugee camp sites to house the teenaged illegal aliens!

M.D.: Deadly diseases crossing the border with the ‘refugee’ “children”

Dr Elizabeth Lee Vliet reporting at World Net Daily (emphasis is mine):

A flood of illegals has massively surged at our southwestern borders. The economic impact of medical care, education and incarceration for illegals forced on taxpayers is bankrupting Arizona.

Why are such swarms entering the U.S. illegally NOW, particularly children? Newspapers in Mexico and Central and South America are actually describing U.S. “open borders,” encouraging people to come with promises of food stamps or “amnesty.” It is textbook Cloward-Piven strategy to overwhelm and collapse the economic and social systems, in order to replace them with a “new socialist order” under federal control.

Carried by this tsunami of illegals are the invisible “travelers” our politicians don’t like to mention: diseases the U.S. had controlled or virtually eradicated: tuberculosis (TB), Chagas disease, dengue fever, hepatitis, malaria, measles, plus more. I have been working on medical projects in Central and South America since 2009, so I am aware of problems these countries face from such diseases.

A public health crisis, the likes of which I have not seen in my lifetime, is looming. Hardest hit by exposures to these difficult-to-treat diseases will be elderly, children, immunosuppressed cancer-patients, patients with chronic lung disease or congestive heart failure. Drug-resistant tuberculosis is the most serious risk, but even diseases like measles can cause severe complications and death in older or immunocompromised patients.

The “unaccompanied alien minors” are going to cost America dearly, read it all.

See also our Health Issues category with 223 previous posts about refugee and migrant diseases, mental health issues, and policy discussions.   In my view, it won’t be worries about terrorism or the cost of social services involved with more immigration, but the fear of one’s children acquiring a deadly disease from a schoolmate that will finally cause Americans to wise-up on the subject of unfettered immigration.

Oklahoma town expects economic boon as federal refugee workers move in!

Just keep it up!  “Refugee” will definitely be a very bad word when/if the Obama-generated crisis on the border is ever resolved.

Invasion of America continues….

Mayor Fitch: Yippee! Federal money and federal workers headed our way!

Check out this story by Ryan Lovelace who has been writing some good stuff at National Review Online (hat tip: Paul).  Emphasis is mine:

Oklahomans expect an economic boom as a result of the flood of illegal immigrant children the federal government has begun sending their way.

The Department of Defense has loaned the facilities at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, to the Department of Health and Human Services to house approximately 600 unaccompanied alien children, according to the Department of Defense. Local officials expect the surrounding community to reap the rewards.

“They’re talking about $1.2 million impact for the Lawton-Fort Sill community within the first 30 days,” Lawton Mayor Fred Fitch told KSWO 7 News.

Lawton will roll in federal tax dollars/federal workers and the “children” will all be good kids (as long as they are confined)!

The Oklahoman reports the ratio of federal worker to child at Ft. Sill will be one federal worker per every two children. Based on that ratio, the area could expect approximately 300 federal workers. An HHS factsheet indicates such workers would include representatives from the Office of Refugee Resettlement within HHS’ Administration for Children and Families. The kids will be kept in a 200,000 square foot building and kept under 24-hour supervision. Fitch insisted to KSWO that the children will not be allowed to leave the confines of the post and that the influx of children will not have any adverse impact on the local community.
