UN: There will be no refugee camps in Libya/N. Africa

So, the countries of Italy, Greece and Malta will continue to get the brunt of the illegal migration as the ‘invasion of Europe’ continues.

The architects of a disastrous US foreign policy in N.Africa

The UN squawks about the deaths of migrants trying to get to Europe across the Mediterranean, but is scared of setting up camps in Libya to hold them (or could the UN actually be supporting the invasion of Europe by mostly Muslim illegal aliens?).

They don’t say they are scared, we do!

Libya is a lawless hellhole largely thanks to the Obama gals—Hillary, Susan Rice and Samantha Power!

From the Times of Malta:

The United Nations is not considering setting up holding camps in North Africa and the Middle East to prevent migrants from making the dangerous sea crossing to Europe.

Contrary to what was reported in The Guardian, an influential UK newspaper, the UN refugee agency insisted it would only explore external processing “under the right circumstances and with adequate safeguards”.

A spokesman for UNHCR in Malta told Times of Malta the agency “was not considering holding camps” as an alternative to address the challenges of refugees and migrants risking their lives at sea.

“Rather, UNHCR is working on a comprehensive set of proposals, focused on saving lives and helping refugees find alternatives to dangerous journeys,” the spokesman said.

The Guardian yesterday reported that the UN was forced to consider the opening of holding camps where asylum applications could be handled in a bid to prevent thousands of migrants crossing the Mediterranean.

[….]

Countries like Libya, which is not a signatory to the Geneva Convention on refugees, are not considered safe for migrants by human rights groups.[LOL! and the human rights groups don’t want to go there either!—ed]

The boats will continue to be launched and more migrants will drown, so much for the “responsibility to protect.”

Obama: “Children” coming across border illegally, humanitarian crisis, requires more $$$$

Obama wants Congress to allocate another $1.4 BILLION for the kids!

We have been writing about the unaccompanied minors (mostly teens) for years, but the situation is now getting out of control as the kids head here during the remaining years of the Obama Open Borders Administration.

Officially the Office of Refugee Resettlement is in charge of the problem, but now FEMA and the military will get involved in the babysitting as well.

And, you can bet with potentially new taxpayer money flowing, as one of my readers said just yesterday, the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service must be “salivating” as the “refugee” numbers are doubling overnight.  (The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has contracts to take care of the kids too, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find others of the major resettlement contractors scrambling for their piece of the pie as well!).

Obama mouthpiece Cecilia Munoz: It is a “false rumor” that they will all be able to stay. (Of course they will, who is going to deport the “kids.”) http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/04/us/politics/cecilia-munozs-perseverance-in-immigration-push.html?_r=0

From Newsmax:

President Barack Obama on Monday described a surge in unaccompanied immigrant children caught trying to cross the Mexican border as an “urgent humanitarian situation,” as the White House asked Congress for an extra $1.4 billion in federal money to cope. Obama said the U.S. will temporarily house the children at two military bases.

Obama appointed the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Craig Fugate, to be in charge of the situation.

In its new estimates, the government said as many as 60,000 children, mostly from Central America, could be caught this year trying to cross the Mexican border illegally, costing the U.S. more than $2.28 billion to house, feed and transport the children to shelters or reunite them with relatives already living in the United States. The new estimate is about $1.4 billion more than the government asked for in Obama’s budget request sent to Congress earlier this year.

In the last eight months alone, 47,000 children have been apprehended at the Southwest Border.

Obama described the growing humanitarian issue at the border in a presidential memorandum Monday that outlined a government-wide response led by Fugate.

Kids to be housed at military bases (now that the war on terror is over, guess the military has nothing better to do!):

The growth has surpassed the system’s capacity to process and house the children. Last month, the federal government opened an emergency operations center at a border headquarters in South Texas to help coordinate the efforts and the Office of Refugee Resettlement, a division of the Health and Human Services Department, turned to the Defense Department for the second time since 2012 to help house children in barracks at Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio.

[….]

More than 90 percent of those sheltered by the government are from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.  [Did I miss a war going on in Central America?  Or, are these just economic migrants looking for jobs, low-cost college degrees at Americans’ expense, and amnesty on the horizon?—ed]

And, then we get our daily laugh out of the Obama Administration, this time from the director of domestic policy, Cecilia Munoz, as she gives us the White House talking points.   What is it with these supposedly smart women (Susan Rice too!)?

Munoz says its a “false rumor” that Obama immigration policies are drawing them here now and that they will all be staying!  And, we are expected to believe that!

Munoz said Monday the administration is aware of false rumors that have circulated that migrant children who get to this country would be automatically allowed to stay here or benefit from some future immigration reform legislation.

Mark my words, not one will be sent back to Central America.

I suppose we should have long ago created an ‘invasion of America’ series, just as did our ‘invasion of Europe’ archive.

Hey Osamah, this isn’t the Republicans’ fault

‘Invasion of Europe series’

I can’t believe this was even published in The Hill.  It’s an op-ed by Palestinian Osamah Khalil (entitled ‘Between the devil and the deep blue sea’) in which the author blames the deaths of illegal aliens attempting to break into Europe (having launched from Libya) on Republicans (say what?).

Osamah Khalil (assistant professor of U.S. and Middle East History at Syracuse University). https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/articles/activism/6779-the-peace-talks-and-palestinian-representation-in-conversation-with-osamah-khalil

After many column inches of sob stories and stats, Osamah says this:

Bilal [the star of this particular sob story—ed], however, never made it to Libya. He and his family were turned back at Beirut’s airport. Unable to return to Syria or stay in Lebanon, they plan to try again. “We have no other choice,” he explains.   [Just a reminder it is the Obama administration that turned Libya into a major lawless hellhole instead of a minor hellhole thus making it the go-to place for launching the invasion of Europe!—ed]

I hope the Republicans are questioning the security issues involved with US State Department (Obama!) plans to admit 2,000 Syrians this fiscal year, but frankly Congress can’t stop it, if Obama wants 2,000 now, Obama can take 2,000 now!

Thankfully, somewhere in the Obama Administration there are people who have not allowed the flow of Syrians to the US to begin in any significant way.  Why?

Osamah should be complaining about Obama!

In February, the Obama administration announced it was loosening asylum rules but acknowledged that less than 2,000 Syrians would be accepted. Republican lawmakers criticized the decision due to national security concerns. Only a few countries have agreed to resettle the refugees — and even then it is just a trickle. Instead, the richest nations in the world, including the U.S., are placing downward pressure on the countries least able to deal with the massive refugee crisis. The main beneficiaries of the status quo are the traffickers and corrupt officials who prey on desperate refugees. While these criminal networks are often described as national security threats, they have been empowered and rewarded by ineffectual American and European policies.

The boats will continue to sail. Some will make it and some won’t. This reality will not change as long as the Syrian conflict continues and the U.S. and EU are unwilling or unable to adopt more humane immigration and asylum policies or even provide the necessary funds to assist the refugees.

*Khalil is assistant professor of U.S. and Middle East History at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He is also a co-founder of Al-Shabaka, The Palestinian Policy Network.

Again, I can’t believe The Hill published this screed—-the US doesn’t have enough “humane immigration!”

Don’t get me wrong, we should all be grateful that Obama hasn’t flung America’s doors open to Syrians yet, but I sure would like to be a fly on the wall and know why!

Norway accepting fewer asylum seekers, Canada too!

….but, what is the US Justice Department hiding?

This is a long article published on the same day as the European Union parliament elections (surely before the results were in)—elections which clearly demonstrated that Europeans from various countries are beginning to stand up and demand that Europe put its own ethnic people first.   See French police storm migrant camp yesterday.

One has to wade through many many column inches of text about “Ismael” the Somali poster boy for Northern Norway to find a few interesting facts.

Ismael, a Somali in Northern Norway, tells a heartwarming story and the reporter laps it up.

I’ve often laughed over the years about reporters who write ‘refugee-sees-first-snow-stories,’ and this one actually did that!

From the Barants Observer:

After two weeks Ismael was accepted in Norway and soon thereafter he boarded a plane to a place where he would buy his first ever winter coat, see snow for the first time in his life and have to learn a new language and way of living – one he never could have imagined before.

The five Nordic countries received 76,400 requests, in total in 2013, with Sweden accepting 70 percent of these applications. This equates to accepting 9 percent of the total global asylum seekers. Norway received 11,500 claims in the same year – a two percent share of the global total. This is down from the over 17,000 Norway accepted in 2009 and up from the all time low of 9,050 in 2011.

For the last three years Europe has been the primary region sought by asylum seekers – in 2013 Europe received 484,600 asylum claims from across the globe. The US and Canada are second.

Canada approved a paltry 10,400 new claims in 2013. That’s a 50 percent decrease from the 20,500 accepted in 2012. They now match Norway in accepting only two percent of asylum seekers who apply to “industrialized countries” as defined by the UN.

The Breivik factor is mentioned near the end (after you feel all warm and fuzzy about Ismael and his Muslim friends).

Norway, like many other countries, is becoming more closed off to refugees. The country has been accused of ignoring its racist undertones, but events like the brutal shooting rampage of Anders Behring Breivik three years ago have forced Norwegians to contemplate the place of race in their society.

In the middle of all the mushy stuff about Ismael, the reporter did direct us to this handy report from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees—Asylum Trends for 2013.

Here are a couple of interesting facts reported by UNHCR:

*An estimated 612,700 asylum applications were registered in 2013 in the 44 industrialized
countries covered by this report, some 133,000 claims more than the year before (+28%). This is the third consecutive annual increase and the second highest annual level of the past 20 years.

* With 109,600 new asylum applications registered during 2013, Germany was for the first time since 1999 the largest single recipient of new asylum claims among the group of industrialized countries.

* The United States of America was second with an estimated 88,400 asylum applications, followed by France(60,100), Sweden(54,300), and Turkey (44,800).

What is Obama’s Justice Department hiding?

Since I didn’t see any bullet-point telling us how many of the 88,400 US asylum applications were approved (as the Norway and Canada stats do), I went back to the report to see if I could find the number.  However, look at this disclaimer on the report’s first page!

*The United States Department of Justice,
Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR)
has temporarily suspended the dissemination
of asylum statistics. As a consequence, the
information available is limited to the number
of asylum applications lodged between January
and August 2013 (17,892). Data from September to
December have been estimated by UNHCR using
a statistical model (seasonal ARIMA). Because no
information is available on the country of origin
of asylum-seekers during this period, its analysis
should be considered as indicative only.

We know some Mexicans are now making bogus asylum claims, but this would indicate that there are a hell-of-a-lot of OTMs (Other than Mexicans) coming across the US border.

And, just a reminder, successful asylum seekers (claims are approved) become full-fledged “refugees” and are eligible for all the same benefits that refugees get in America.  However, keep in mind that they never get the security screening that refugees identified abroad receive.  Remember the Tsarnaev Boston bomber family!

Another Lutheran lobbying campaign, this time for the illegal alien kids

Sheesh, they are busy and must be rolling in your dough, but they better not be!  They better be keeping very good records to show that they aren’t using federal grant money for their immigration “advocacy” campaigns!

Just a few days ago we told you about how the multi-million dollar Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS), which operates on approximately 97% government grant money, was sending 50 refugees to Washington to lobby in June, here.  That sure better be paid for out of private donations and NOT your tax dollars as well.

LIRS CEO Linda Hartke. Back in April LIRS was lobbying for amnesty. On your dime? https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/04/10/lutherans-lobby-in-washington-for-amnesty-limited-detention-of-illegal-aliens/

Here is their latest lobbying effort, this time on behalf of “unaccompanied minors” who are being lured here by Obama Administration policies.

LIRS shamefully leaves out the fact that they are a government contractor with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (along with the US Conference of Catholic Bishops)  and are being paid to take care of those mostly teenage kids!

Press release from LIRS:

WASHINGTON, May 27, 2014 /NEWS.GNOM.ES/ — Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service today announced the launch of a national advocacy campaign, led by youth and young adults, to bring attention to the influx of unaccompanied alien children (UAC) crossing the borders into the United States. This year, more than 60,000 refugee minors are expected to enter the U.S. from Central America and other regions. That number is expected to double in 2015. The “#Act of Love” campaign urges the White House and lawmakers to designate the situation an emergency and fund it accordingly.

At a press conference in Washington on Tuesday, young people from across the U.S. expressed their concerns for the refugee children and detailed plans for a social media campaign which includes a petition written and signed by young people and addressed to President Obama, Speaker John Boehner, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. It urges lawmakers to provide adequate emergency funds to address this humanitarian crisis, improve protections for children and collaborate with UN agencies, other NGOs and faith communities to offer safety to children. “We must protect victims of trafficking, survivors of torture, and migrant children who are subject to abandonment, abuse or neglect,” the petition states. “These kids have compelling humanitarian needs that require a response.”

You too can join the #ActOfLove campaign by putting news you want to share at that twitter hashtag!

So where else is LIRS operating through subcontractors?   Have a look!

And get this, they list an affiliate in Casper, Wyoming!   I thought Republican Governor Matt Mead was only studying whether to set up a program in Wyoming?  Getting a little ahead of themselves aren’t they!

Heck, maybe they could set up some group homes in Wyoming for the illegal alien teens!
