Australia: Petition seeks to halt Muslim immigration for ten years

And, it’s causing a fury Down Under!

CAIRO – A new petition in the Australian Federal Parliament for a ten-year moratorium on Muslim immigrants is drawing the fury of the Muslim community in the country.

“That’s hardly a loving Christian to be very selective in whom you want to enter in your home,” Ikebal Patel, president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, told the Herald Sun on Tuesday, February 15.

ACT Liberal Senator Gary Humphries presented a petition calling for a 10-year suspension of Muslim immigration into Australia and for a review of the country’s immigration policy to ensure priority is given to Christians.

Egyptian said to be behind the wheel in San Diego cab carnage

I’m not seeing it mentioned in other publications yet, but a San Diego TV station is reporting that the cabbie who plowed into a crowd outside of a popular San Diego night club was an Egyptian nicknamed “Osama.”  Hat tip:  Janet.

San Diego 6 News has exclusive information into the driver of the cab.

Owners and friends of the downtown restaurant Darband say the man, they know as “Osama”, frequented the establishment. They say he was the one behind the wheel.

There is new video of the taxi cab crash that sparked chaos in front of the Stingaree nightclub. The cellphone images show the hood of the taxi cab driven by, according to friends, a 48-year old Egyptian native named “Osama.”

Outside Darband Fifth Avenue Grill cab drivers finish a game of chess. This taxi cab hangout was a place drivers met up frequently with “Osama”.

Cyrus Rushi is the owner of Darband. Rushi said, “I am sure I have seen him here. I am sure. They say he is an Egyptian guy.”

By the way, Egyptians don’t come as refugees (yet), but surely some have arrived seeking asylum for one reason or another.  Also, Egyptians can get into the US if they “win” the Diversity Visa Lottery —yes there is such a thing.  You see we don’t have enough diversity so a whole bunch of immigrants from countries that normally don’t send us too many people get an additional shot at getting into the US.  There are even immigration lawyers who specialize in helping immigrants win the lottery. And, I see here that Egyptians are big winners.

Did you ever notice that when a legal immigrant is involved in some crime, it is rarely mentioned which legal program he or she used to enter the US?

Oklahoma immigrant food stamp scammer pleads guilty

This is an update of the story I told you about here back in October.  Muluneh Zeleke, a likely Ethiopian, admitted to ripping the taxpayers off to the tune of $1.2 million.  That beats the Somali the other day who only got $400,000.  But, you’ll see when you read the story that this scammer was pocketing 50 cents on the dollar, while the Somali took only a 30 cent cut.  The more generous Somali didn’t know I guess that the going rate is 50 cents on the dollar (I know because I have followed these stories for years and the take is always 50 cents.)

An Oklahoma City convenience store owner has pleaded guilty to food stamp fraud.

Muluneh Zeleke, 55, of Oklahoma City, will be sentenced later. Prosecutors say he owes $1.2 million in restitution to the federal government.

He was indicted in October. He was identified then as the owner of Z&Z Convenience Store at 2445 Martin Luther King Ave.

He pleaded guilty Thursday in Oklahoma City federal court. He told a judge, “I want to take responsibility for my actions.”

This guy could have gotten into the US in any of several legal immigrant programs.  He could be a refugee or an asylee.  Maybe he even won the diversity lottery.  Or, he is an E-2 Treaty Investor.   Do you know we allow immigrants into the US if they have a certain amount of money and promise to open a business that employs as few as a couple of people?  Ethiopia is an allowed country.  The list is here.

I’m amazed that no enterprising investigative reporter ever looks into this program (if there still are investigative reporters!). There are even immigration lawyers in the US teaching would-be immigrants how to use this program and helping them buy convenience stores—surely you have noticed that your local convenience store is most likely owned by an immigrant.

I wonder if the immigration lawyer gets a cut of the food stamp scam money?

By the way, this is how you find the truth—-disallow the use of food stamps at convenience stores!  Then we will see who can afford to own one!

ORR, where is the annual report to Congress?

Refugee food stamp use is probably going through the roof, but we don’t know that because the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is sitting on the numbers and hasn’t sent an annual report to Congress since the 2007 report, here.  They are required by law to send one each year and Eskinder Negash (head of ORR), and a former Ethiopian refugee who came up through the volag ranks, is now three years behind!

Is your county a “secure community?”

Secure Communities is the name of a federal program to identify criminal aliens.  When someone is booked into your local jail, fingerprints are taken and sent to ICE to determine if the person is in the country illegally, or I assume a legal immigrant would be identified who is wanted in another jurisdiction (like the Somali guy in North Dakota recently).

To see if your county is participating, check out “Deportation Nation.”

I see no counties in North Dakota participate.

From time to time readers ask what they can do.  This is something you can do politically and locally—push your county government to enroll in Secure Communities.

Latest immigrant food stamp scam bust in Bradenton, Florida this time

I have a whole bunch of stuff on food stamp fraud I will try to post tomorrow, but since this just happened, I’m getting it up right away.  Three indicted in food stamp rip off of $857,000 from taxpayers.

TAMPA — Three owners of a Bradenton convenience store defrauded the federal government out of $857,000 by exchanging cash for food stamp benefits, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Tampa.

The three owners — Majdi A. Juma, 29; Hikmat A. Juma, 38; and Nidal Juma, 40 — have been indicted by a grand jury on food stamp fraud and wire fraud, a release from U.S. Attorney Robert E. O’Neill’s office said.

According to the indict- ment, the Jumas unlaw- fully purchased SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits from individual recipients … “in exchange for cash and for which SCFM charged the recipient a substantial commission or fee.”

The practice is common- ly known as “discounting” or “cash-back,” the news release said, and the Jumas charged a fee of about 50 percent.

All three Jumas face wire fraud charges and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and food stamp fraud charges.

If convicted of all charges they face between 130 and 155 years each in prison, the release said.

The article tells us ICE was involved in the bust, so there must be an immigration angle.  Based on their names, they are likely East Africans.  Guess they were sending money out of the country too.

Maybe it would be better just to deport them to Africa and forget about keeping them in jail for years at more taxpayer expense.
