The invasion on our Southern border by child “refugees” helped defeat Eric Cantor

Update June 12th:  Why were pro-amnesty rioters at Cantor headquarters on Tuesday night?  Here!

They have overplayed their hand this time.  Their strategy has back-fired.

Cantor offer to Obama: We can do something for the kids.

Who is they?  Obama, Cecilia Munoz, some in the Republican Party (Bush, Cantor, US Chamber of Commerce) and the open borders lobby including the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service*** which you know were helping spread the word throughout Mexico and Central America that the illegal alien “kids” were welcome to invade America.

And, they have squandered decades of the warm and fuzzy feelings that naive do-gooders have built up around the word “refugee.”   Earlier yesterday, as House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s political death sentence was being meted out, I was struck by this article published at Human Events (hat tip Paul) on Sunday—-Cloward-Piven at the border‘ by John Hayward.

If you have never heard of the Cloward-Piven strategy read one of our posts on the topic from 2009 for some background.

It is not the connection to C-P that interested me so much as it was Hayward’s use of the word “refugee” linked to something that is so obviously disgusting to the average American—invaders expecting hand outs.

These teenage migrants from mostly Central America are not refugees and by pushing that mantra Obama and others have succeeded, better than critics of the program could ever do, in sullying the word that as I said has had an aura of pure goodness about it ever since the Refugee Act of 1980 (Kennedy/Carter) was signed into law.

As various political action and education groups have built up over the years working to slow immigration into America, those groups and their leaders have stayed away from criticism of “refugees” because apparently they viewed them as untouchable and above criticism in the public mind.

I wonder will all of that change now that these illegal alien invaders are being openly called “refugees?”

Back to Cantor and what his defeat could mean…..

Read that Human Events piece in which Hayward quotes Cantor:

“I have told the president, there are some things we can work on together,” he said in the WTVR interview.

“We can work on the border security bill together, we can work on something like the kids,” he said referring to his proposal to offer some undetermined variety of amnesty to the children and youths of millions of parents who entered the country illegally.

There couldn’t have been worse timing for Cantor—as thousands of “kids” showed up on the border obviously lured by Washington establishment talk of something for the kids.

And, here is a good comment to Erick Erickson’s analysis of the Cantor defeat (the Brat victory!).  Erickson doesn’t believe it was all about immigration, but some of his readers beg to differ.  And here is one of them:

‘The Rebel’ (emphasis is mine):

Cantor supported legislation known as the KIDS Act, which would give citizenship to children brought to the country illegally. Given the flood of illegal children on our southern borders over the past two weeks, I would say that was the deciding factor.

The biggest loser tonight after Cantor has to be Jeb Bush. They were tied at the hip on amnesty and common core. It wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t win a single primary other than FL. Let’s see if he backtracks on his messaging now.

The other loser is Obama. If he thinks he can just ramrod immigration and amnesty through on executive orders, let him try. Not only would those endangered Senate Dems be finished, but other Senate Dems within reach by Republicans could also be in trouble. This earthquake will fire up the Republican base for November.

The refugee contractor lobbyists who stood to gain millions of new “clients” will be big losers too if the Senate’s so-called comprehensive immigration reform doesn’t become law!  (By the way, as the mainstream media beats this issue, very few will understand the connection between the contractors, who will be paid to service the immigrants/refugees, amnesty, and the invasion of unaccompanied minors, but longtime readers of RRW will.)

Here is my solution to the “humanitarian crisis” (Obama’s characterization) on the border.  Load up the planes with unaccompanied teens (83% are above the age of 14, 77% are males), fly them to their respective capitals in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, turn them over to their governments to find their families, and threaten the withdrawal of all US aid if any of them set foot in America again.   A few flights like that and the rush will end, and it will save us one hell of a lot of money besides (Obama wants over a $billion to take care of the “kids.”).

Endnote: We asked on Monday: Where is America’s sense of self preservation?  Looks like it’s in Virginia’s 7th District (for starters!).

***Be sure to see the Lutheran’s #ActOfLove campaign (for the kids) just launched two weeks ago.

Lutherans lobby in Washington for amnesty; limited detention of illegal aliens

And, to top it off—you, the US taxpayer, most likely footed a large portion of the bill!

Take a minute and go to a post we wrote last spring (Don’t break our rice bowls! see their lavish Baltimore office building) about the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (one of the nine major federal refugee contractors***) which was the ring leader of the event in Washington last week.  Out of approximately $31.5 million in annual income, $30 million is from government grants and contracts, in other words, from you.  Their CEO (photo below) makes over $200,000 in salary and benefits.

Linda Hartke, LIRS CEO: ‘We honor the gifts new Americans bring to the country.’ (and we get paid by US taxpayers to push that line!) http://blog.lirs.org/linda-harke-bio/

I have it from a good source that the average Lutheran in America has no clue about what their leaders are doing.

Here is the story from Religion News Service:

WASHINGTON, DC April. 4, 2014 – 42 Lutheran leaders visited lawmakers Wednesday on Capitol Hill and at the White House, calling for virtuous and compassionate immigration reform. From the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Lutheran ministry organizations, they emphasized that as people of faith, they are called to welcome the sojourner and walk alongside migrants and refugees as they rebuild their lives in the United States.

The leaders had face-to-face conversations with more than 20 members of Congress, including House and Senate leadership and members of Congress who are themselves Lutheran. They also met with staff at nearly 70 congressional offices, sharing stories of how our nation’s broken immigration system affects their congregations and communities by creating a culture of fear and leaving children without parents. The meetings were part of the annual Lutheran Immigration Leadership Summit, hosted by Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS).

The US has an “unjust immigration system,” they told the White House:

A group of ten leaders also met with the President’s Domestic Policy Council and the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the White House. A letter was delivered to President Obama after the meeting, signed by 37 of the leaders. The letter thanked President Obama for his leadership on immigration reform and for reviewing immigration enforcement. However, it also called on President Obama to “ease the pain caused by unnecessarily high rates of detention and deportation.” They wrote: “we urge you to alleviate the hardships and separation experienced by families caught up in our unjust immigration system.”

Here (and below) is the text of the letter they delivered to the White House.  If you are a Lutheran who disagrees with your church leadership for pushing amnesty and advocating for no detention for most illegal migrants, click here to see which leaders of your church signed the letter.

April 2, 2014

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear President Obama:

As people of faith, we pray and call for immigration policies that keep families together, protect individuals forced from their homelands or fleeing persecution, and value the great gift immigrants are to our churches, communities and nation.

On behalf of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) and the undersigned leaders from the Lutheran Immigration Leadership Summit and the communities we represent, thank you for today’s meeting with staff from your Domestic Policy Council and the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and for your willingness to hear our concerns.

We join the cry of the prophet Amos: “…let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”

We lift our voices in speaking to members of the House and Senate, and to your Administration. Compassionate immigration reform must become the law of the land. Every day without action does harm to families, to communities, and to our nation.

We were encouraged by your announcement that you will review immigration enforcement practices. We believe that such a review is long overdue. While we await legislative action on just, compassionate and comprehensive immigration reform, we are counting on your Administration to exercise its authority to bring about an end to the excessive detention and deportation of immigrants by providing for:

*Broader and increased use of prosecutorial discretion at all points of law enforcement decision-making to reduce harmful enforcement practices and family separation.

*An end to the arbitrary use of detention and to the detention of vulnerable migrants such as asylum seekers and survivors of torture, and true access to justice.

*Increased availability of community-based alternatives to detention that do not unnecessarily deprive individuals of their freedom and for migrants who are neither a danger to the community nor a flight risk.

Today, we and fellow Lutheran leaders are meeting with Congressional leaders to call for swift immigration reform that reflects our American values and the calling of our faith to love and serve our neighbors. We yearn for a nation that honors the contributions that new and aspiring Americans make to our society and economy, and we long for immigration policies that strengthen families within our borders.

You, as President, can ease the pain caused by unnecessarily high rates of detention and deportation. While we appreciate your leadership on comprehensive immigration reform, we urge you to alleviate the hardships and separation experienced by families caught up in our unjust immigration system. We pray that you follow this way of justice, and by doing so, show the positive impact that stabilizing migrant communities can have of all of us.

Yours in faith,

Here is an article about one of the Lutheran leaders excellent adventure in Washington.

*** The federal gravy train steams on!   If the Senate version of Comprehensive Immigration Reform should become law, the contractors, including LIRS, will be in line for MORE federal grants to provide “services” to the millions of newly amnestied.  They will be contracted to get the “new Americans” set up on welfare, help them find jobs, get them micro-loans to start businesses, teach them English etc.  There are even federal grants to teach the immigrants how to have healthy marriages!

Bishops suck-up to the media at US border to promote amnesty

Cardinal Sean O’Malley offers communion to people on the Mexican side of the international border, Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in Nogales, Ariz. Matt York / AP http://www.southcoasttoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20140401/NEWS/140409977

Brenda Walker writing at VDARE gives us a thorough report on the US Catholic Bishops’ publicity stunt at the Mexican border yesterday.

Calling Rush Limbaugh, read this!  The only issues where Catholic leaders are on the supposed ‘conservative’ side are abortion and gay marriage, for everything else they are the far Left! Obama does not need to win them over!

Walker (Conspirators in Cassocks) begins (emphasis mine):

Catholic bishops have accelerated their anti-American Open Borders crusade to fluff up their scandal-scarred morality cred in the Main Stream Media and to nudge “immigrants” (legality immaterial) to attend the church that supports ethnic separatism and disdains assimilation. Boston’s Cardinal Sean O’Malley and several bishops celebrated a photo-op Mass near the border today (April 1) to underline their dedication to “immigrants.” These conspirators in cassocks were also scheduled to tour a local shelter and visit with the Border Patrol.

Then she asks the questions MOST Americans ask:

They emphasized the suffering of the illegal invaders—with no recognition that successful invaders steal jobs that should by law go to Americans; and no mention of America’s 20+ million unemployed.

O’Malley et al.’s deeply selfish and solipsistic view of morality: Hispanic foreigners (Catholic) should be cut extra slack—even though their law-breaking hurts innocent Americans.

Why is the American taxpayer*** supposed to support law-breaking just because the perps are poor foreigners? We have plenty of homegrown folks in poverty.

Read it all, it is a very complete accounting of the Bishops’ key role in opening US borders to legal and illegal migrants.  Walker also mentions the sad story in Syracuse (25,784 people saw this post on our facebook page—wow!).

Rush read this, conservatives do not suck from the government teat!

***American taxpayers are footing the bill for almost the entire Bishops’ migration fund (here).

This is where the USCCB Migration and Refugee Services gets its money—mostly from the US taxpayer!  From their most recent published annual report, here (p.11).  The USCCB is effectively a federal agency!  They are the largest of the nine major federal refugee contractors.

Revenue (in rounded numbers)

Federal grants/contracts:  $66 million

Refugee travel loans (your tax dollars too):  $3.6 million

Total revenue:  $71 million (which leaves less than $1.5 million from private charitable giving)

If  ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform’ should get through Congress, the Bishops federal take will quadruple as they become the “service provider” for the millions of newly amnestied.

Rush Limbaugh is wrong about Catholic Church

Limbaugh gets-it on immigration, so he now needs to modify what he says about the Catholic Church! http://www.politico.com/story/2014/01/rush-limbaugh-gop-to-commit-suicide-102947.html

The other day I happened to catch a bit of Rush Limbaugh’s radio program and for the first time in over twenty years found myself shouting at the radio.

If I understood him correctly in the portion of the show I heard, Limbaugh was pretty much saying that the Catholic Church/Pope was a paragon of conservatism and nothing anyone (especially Obama and pals!) could say would cause them to waver on issues such as abortion and gay marriage and for that the Left is p*****-off.

Is Rush ignorant of the role played by the hard left Catholic church in Obama’s rise in Chicago politics?

The Catholic Bishops stand to benefit financially from ‘immigration reform!’

It may be so (that the Church won’t be swayed) on those social issues, but Limbaugh apparently has no idea about how important the Catholic Church is, and especially the Bishops, on the issue of immigration and open borders.  They are as far-Left on that issue as they come, and it has little to do with compassion and everything to do with cold hard cash!

Come to think of it, I can’t really blame Limbaugh for not knowing that the Bishops are deep into the taxpayers’ wallets since the mainstream media NEVER mentions it.

The Bishops would be broke without the millions of dollars they get from US taxpayers. Then there is the taxpayer funding they get for some of the 120 illegal alien “kids” crossing the border each day. The Bishops have a contract with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement for their care.

And, don’t forget the church helped bring the thousands of Muslims to Syracuse, NY which has now resulted in the travesty of a historic Catholic Church being converted to a mosque.

To illustrate where the Bishops are on open borders, this story from the Washington Post on Friday entitled, ‘US Catholic leaders hope church’s actions can revive immigration reform,’  pretty much says it all.

The news-hook is Obama’s visit with the Pope, but it’s all about the church’s lobbying efforts to bring about so-called ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform’ which (if passed and signed into law) will benefit the Bishops financially as they will get more ‘clients’ (millions of clients) in need of ‘services’ (showing them how to get their welfare benefits) to add to the tens of thousands of refugees they now have on their client roster.

Read the WaPo article yourself and remember these deportation numbers are B.S. as Senator Sessions reported last week (it must be maddening for the Senator to see this propaganda).  ***Update*** More evidence that Obama is not deporting large numbers of aliens.

And, get ready for the Bishops publicity stunt at the border this week where they plan to mimic the Pope’s visit last summer to the beleaguered Italian island of Lampedusa.

Hey Rush, how about putting some qualifiers in when you praise the Bishops the next time!

Senator Jeff Sessions: Amnesty is a done deal!

Sessions: The Administration’s actions are breathtaking and without precedent.

The US Senate’s chief critic of efforts by both the Obama Administration and the majority of the US Senate to give amnesty to the 12 million (or more) aliens who are in the US illegally, released a stunning statement yesterday in which he said basically—it is over!

Obama immigration enforcement is virtually non-existent—they are here, they are staying, they are working, they are getting benefits, and more are being welcomed.

Of course he says it’s up to the Republicans to reverse the tidal wave, but I, for one, haven’t much hope of that since Republican leaders (and their campaign funders!) either want amnesty, or want the issue to go away before the 2014 and 2016 election cycles.

Here is what the Senator released yesterday—‘Dramatic nullification of immigration law‘  (Richard Falknor at Blue Ridge Forum has sounded the alarm via twitter):

WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement today after releasing a statistical analysis of Department of Homeland Security data documenting the Administration’s vast and far-reaching defiance of federal immigration law:

“The evidence reveals that the Administration has carried out a dramatic nullification of federal law. Under the guise of setting ‘priorities’, the Administration has determined that almost anyone in the world who can enter the United States is free to illegally live, work and claim benefits here as long as they are not caught committing a felony or other serious crime. This applies not only to illegal immigrants who entered through the border, but those who enter on a visa and overstay.

American workers and taxpayers are entitled to the protections our immigration laws afford, yet the Administration has suspended these protections, producing lower wages and higher unemployment.

Congressional Democrats have empowered this state of lawlessness. It falls on the shoulders of Republicans to reverse it—and to rescue the rule of law for the American people of today and tomorrow. More information will be shared in the coming days, in light of the administration’s call to expand these unlawful directives even further.”

See the Senator’s chilling report hereThis is the final paragraph:

The Administration’s actions are breathtaking and without precedent. American citizens have both a legal and moral right to the protection our immigration laws afford; those rights have been systematically ignored, resulting in a massive loss of income and wages for the most vulnerable Americans. The Administration has abandoned its duty to faithfully execute the law and protect US sovereignty, resulting not only in a collapse of immigration enforcement but a grave jeopardy to the American system of law and justice itself.

Photo is here at the Heritage Foundation.  Senator Sessions’ lonely crusade!

For new readers of RRW, the Senate-passed so-called ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill’ (if it should become law) will give federal refugee contractors a greatly expanded ‘client’ base and thus the federal grants to “provide services” to the newly amnestied including helping them to sign up for their welfare goodies, just as they do today for refugees and asylees.

The contractors have been busy lobbying Congress to pass amnesty, and surely using some of your tax dollars in their lobbying efforts (most have very little money besides your money!).
