No sympathy for the contractor crybabies!

Update August 2: Crying in Chicago too—-they want a bigger pie from Congress!  If they don’t get it—staff will be cut at ‘non-profit’ refugee agencies!

I have no sympathy for the federal refugee resettlement contractors (nor any time today to address this article in the Washington Post).  These quasi-government agencies*** some pretending to be motivated by Christian and Jewish charity are now running out of your cash for their good works!

Boo hoo! They say, they may have to lay off employees, provide fewer “services,” close offices and bring fewer refugees to the US in the closing two months of fiscal year 2014 because the illegal alien children crisis is devouring all of their (your) money.

Why no sympathy?  Because all of these federal contractors have been lobbying for AMNESTY and the so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill the Senate passed (we followed their lobbying extensively here) that is part of the lure now to the illegal alien children expecting an amnesty!

They should have all thought about legitimate refugees before they went to bed with Obama and the Gang of Eight.

From the Washington Post (hat tip: Brad):

Refugee advocates have launched a frantic campaign to urge Congress to approve President Obama’s request for $3.7 billion in emergency supplemental funding to deal with the thousands of Central American children pouring into the country, because current policy risks pitting those children against existing refugees in a scrap for federal assistance.

In a move noticed by few outside refugee circles, the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement in June notified Congress it was shifting $94 million from refugee services programs to those dealing with the emergency on the border. The administration’s request for emergency funding includes $1.8 billion for HHS, which would replenish the refugee funds.

Read it all.  There is a lot of boo-hooing from the religious Leftwingers at Church World Service (these are the ‘crop walk’ people you may see in your communities) which has the distinction of being the catalyst for the creation of this blog!

Sheesh, I had no idea they were into the Palestinian activist network as well! http://actpalestineforum.org/about/members/church-world-service-cws/

If the contractors had done what they were supposed to do over the years (and what Congress originally promised!)—raise private funds!—they might not be in this mess!

Senators urge extension of (sham) Temporary Protected Status for Liberians

Demonstrating once again what a sham Temporary Protected Status is, Senators want Obama to extend temporary refugee status to Liberians who have been here “temporarily” since the late 1980’s!   Seems to me that the civil war in Liberia is over and this “LEGAL” status for those here originally illegally should just end.

There must be one hell-uv-a lot of Liberians in Rhode Island because I saw Senator Jack Reed spearheading this same effort several years ago.  Here he is joined by the usual Senate Open Borders gang.

Senators Jack Reed and Elizabeth Warren, working for the middle class (must be middle class immigrants!).

Check out here what other countries enjoy this “temporary” protection.  Liberia is in the Deferred Enforced Departure category.   Reed’s press release and letter to the White House on Friday are here.

From Political News:

WASHINGTON, DC – In an effort to preserve the status of Liberians living legally in the United States, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) led a letter signed by fourteen of his colleagues to President Obama urging an extension of Deferred Enforced Departure (DED). The current DED extension is set to expire on September 30, 2014, which could cause Liberians living here legally on temporary status to be deported.

The usual suspects, but where is his pal Elizabeth Warren?  Come to think of it, why isn’t Warren here?

Senators joining Reed in sending the letter include: Charles Schumer (D-NY), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Chris Coons (D-DE), Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Al Franken (D-MN), Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).

[….]

Since 1991, Liberians have relied on short-term provisions of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or DED from Presidents of both political parties to extend their legal right to remain in the United States. These individuals, many of whom have been in the United States since fleeing Liberia in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, have retained a legal status that allows them to live, work, and pay taxes in the United States.

Reed and the Liberians were expecting that “comprehensive immigration reform” would resolve their problem with its blanket amnesty.

The senators wrote: “the current system of short-term DED renewals leaves Liberians and their families with perennial uncertainty about whether they will be able to remain members of the communities they have come to call home. For this reason, while we urge you to grant a lengthy extension of at least two years and to make this announcement well in advance of the current DED expiration, we continue to call for comprehensive immigration reform that includes an adjustment to permanent resident status for qualifying Liberians and their families.”

The next time you hear one of your friends say:  “Legal immigration is o.k., it is illegal that I object to” remember TPS and pop them one (gently!).  Yes, it is legal (forever)Once granted a temporary stay in America, they never go home.  Check out that list again—it includes Syrians now.

Twenty Jewish groups want more tax dollars to “welcome the stranger”

Not letting a good crisis go to waste, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) has generated a letter to Obama and the Congress looking for more payola from the feds to take care of the illegal alien “children” surging across our Southern border.

Mark Hetfield is CEO of HIAS. He wants critics of refugee program investigated!

HIAS is the same organization that last year called for an investigation of any local citizens who object to refugee resettlement in their towns and cities, here.

From JTA:

WASHINGTON (JTA) – Twenty Jewish organizations urged President Obama and Congress to deal humanely with the unaccompanied children and refugees from Central America who are crossing the U.S. border.

The statement released Tuesday, which was written by the refugee resettlement agency HIAS, calls on the government to “welcome the stranger” in dealing with those entering the United States through Mexico from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

“The safety and well-being of these migrants – and particularly the unaccompanied children – must be at the heart of every policy decision made in response to this humanitarian crisis,” according to the statement, which was signed by such groups as the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, B’nai B’rith International and the Jewish Federations of North America.

In the statement, the Jewish organizations call for a long term, holistic solution “that prioritizes safety and opportunity.” They call for increased border enforcement in connection with measures to ensure that those in danger of persecution in their homeland can seek asylum in the United States. The Jewish groups also are calling for increased funding for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Policy.

[….]

Also signing the statement were Ameinu, Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies, Central Conference of American Rabbis, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Jewish Labor Committee, Jewish Women International, Keshet, National Council of Jewish Women, the Rabbinical Assembly, Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and Jewish Reconstructionist Communities, The Solomon Project, T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, Union for Reform Judaism, Uri L’Tzedek and The Workmen’s Circle.

For new readers HIAS is one of nine federal refugee contractors (below) which will stand to gain increased funding if more of your tax dollars go to processing each of the illegal alien teens (HIAS potential “clients”) entering the US over the last many months.

HIAS was one of the leading advocacy groups pushing for amnesty through the so-called “comprehensive” ( gang of eight) immigration reform bill that passed the Senate last year.

Is Albany, NY Rep. Paul Tonko welcoming the “children?” Sure sounds like it!

Update:  Tonko’s Republican challenger is making the issue a campaign issue, see the story here.

He sure isn’t criticizing the idea of bringing hundreds of illegal alien teenagers to Albany.  Does he think like Obama that America needs the “dreamer” kids?  Story hat tip: Laurence.

Rep. Tonko: Strengthen NY communities by bringing in hundreds of Central American teenaged boys?

Meanwhile we note that another federal refugee contractor*** has its hand in the federal till!

From NBC News10.com:

According to Paul Tonko, the Department of Health and Human Service is looking at many places across the country to house the children that cross the border without adults. There are a few places benig reviewed to house the children One of which, is the old Doane Stuart School building, located on Southern Boulevard in Albany.

[….]

“Initial reaction is that these children are escaping violence because of humanitarian efforts of this nation which I think has been our hallmark, to be humanitarian in response to, in this case, children,” said Tonko.

[….]

Tonko says other sites in New York State are also being investigated. However, he stresses funding will come from the federal level and not come from the state.  [Yeh right! No cost to the state!—ed]

Previously most federal contracts for caring for the “unaccompanied minors” went to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and to the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.  Recently we saw that Church World Service is in on the action and now we see USCRIs (US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants) hand in the federal till too!

All of the contractors were lobbying for ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ (S.744) so as to obtain more immigrant ‘clients’ and thus federal grants, but since they aren’t getting that windfall, they will get this one!

NBC News10.com continued:

Stacie Blake, with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants says the main concern is safe place to put the children with access to immigration hearings and an airport.

Something her office knows a lot about.

“Our interest is seeing and hearing these interests upheld because we are learning of these very disturbing reports off these most vulnerable children,” she said.

Upstate New York appears to be a prime target for relocating the “children” away from the border.

***The contractors (remember some, maybe all by now! are being paid by you to take care of the illegal alien “children!”)

Christian Science Monitor: are illegal kids criminals or refugees?

They are most certainly not refugees!

Refugees or criminals? http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Texas/2014/06/05/Leaked-Images-Reveal-Children-Warehoused-in-Crowded-US-Cells-Border-Patrol-Overwhelmed

Ever since we started writing this blog in 2007, the open borders agitators (including the refugee contractors) and immigration lawyers have been attempting to expand the definition of “refugee” for the purpose of bringing in anyone in the world who is fleeing crime (or says they are fleeing crime).

Fleeing one’s home country because the country is overrun with gangs and drug dealers, and where the government there is unable to protect its citizens from crime generally, does not make one a “refugee.”   And think about it, wouldn’t that make half the world eligible for asylum in America?  Or, is that what Obama wants?

A refugee:

…. is a person who is outside their home country because they have suffered (or feared) persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or because they are a member of a persecuted ‘social group’ or because they are fleeing a war.

Either the “refugee” has been chosen by the UN and admitted to the US by the US State Department and flown here, or in the case of asylum seekers who got here on their own (crossed a border illegally or overstayed a visa), they must first be judged to be legitimately escaping persecution before they are declared a refugee.

The big push to find the kids lawyers is to attempt to prove that they are legitimate asylum seekers and for the US to ultimately grant them asylum which would make them refugees and thereby make them eligible for all of the taxpayer “services” available to any American citizen.  See our fact sheet!

An “economic migrant” is an alien who is seeking a better life—he or she wants a job or welfare.  They are also NOT refugees.

The recent “unaccompanied minor” border invaders may be “economic migrants,” but they definitely are illegal aliens and therefore criminals.

Here is Patrik Jonsson reporting at the Christian Science Monitor (hat tip: Joanne).

I’ve communicated with Jonsson.  He has exposed some secrecy in the “refugee” program before so I would urge him to help figure out who are the instigators of this invasion, it isn’t the kids (who are being used, in my opinion, by those who are attempting to bring on the revolution)!

Who are those shadowy players?  Or is it the White House itself?

The growing crush of vulnerable migrant children crossing the Rio Grande and entering the US through south Texas has put urgency to a vexing question for the US immigration system:

Are children fleeing Central American violence refugees who need asylum or illegal gold-diggers who need to go home?

The rush on the border has created what the White House and many others have called a humanitarian crisis. But it has also pushed Washington into finger-pointing mode, with politicians and commentators trying to pin down why children, often guided by “coyote” smugglers, are traveling hundreds of miles across Mexico into the US.

Read it all.

BTW, I heard a scary prediction yesterday—-that after the 2014 election, Obama plans to pardon all illegal aliens in the US.  Is that what the “kids” know?

With all of this horrific news about the invasion of America by mostly teenaged boys from Central America, I see a bright side!

Those who have brought this nightmare (including the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services***) to the front pages have succeeded in making the word “refugee” a very dirty word in homes across America after years and years of building up “refugees” as wonderful, deserving, industrious and grateful NEW AMERICANS.   Keep it up!

Come to think of it, maybe I shouldn’t be so quick to say they aren’t refugees!

See our complete archive on “unaccompanied minors” and the refugee contractors by clicking here.  Learn more about where your $2 billion for the kids will be going, here.

***Why do I keep naming those two refugee contractors (of the nine), because they are two that have had contracts from the ORR to care for the “kids.”   But, I expect all of the contractors to be scrambling for the $$$$$ and a piece of the action now that more of your tax dollars (billions in fact!) may soon be flowing their way.

As a matter of fact, the contractors all lobbied for the ‘gang of eight’s’ so-called “comprehensive immigration reform” bill because it contained provisions for them to gain more “clients” and more federal grant and contract money.  Since that hasn’t gone through, and likely won’t anytime soon, this windfall—to care for the kids—is the next best thing for them!
