Warship rescue update! Not Somalis after all!

Reader Charles, from Malta, has alerted us to more news on the latest African migrant boat incident we told you about last night.  Turns out the migrants are not Somalis but come from various African nations and when brought ashore in Malta became violent demanding they be taken to Italy.

I don’t know who made the Somali ID mistake, but I wouldn’t put it past the illegal aliens to initially claim Somali ethnicity knowing the West is bending over backwards to accommodate Somali “refugees.”

Below are the two reports from Charles (emphasis is mine).

From the Times of Malta (yesterday):

A group of 129 migrants arrived at Marsamxett on board a patrol boat – some 24 hours after their rubber dinghy was spotting in rough seas 70 miles south of Malta yesterday.

One was referred to hospital.

The migrants – mainly men – appeared in good health as they disembarked from the deck of the patrol boat. Some were covered by blankets.

Most of them – 70, are from Gambia, 36 from Senegal, two from Nigeria, three from Sierra Leone, one from Guinea, six from Guinea-Bissau, 10 from Mali, and one from Burkina Faso.

Clearly economic migrants!  Not “refugees” or “asylum seekers” escaping persecution!

Then also from the Times of Malta yesterday, rescued Africans got violent when they were placed in detention:

A group of some 130 newly-arrived migrants caused a disturbance at Safi Detention Camp – protesting that they wanted to be sent to Italy.

Informed sources said the disturbance started when members of the group objected to being held at Safi Detention Centre.

They insisted that they wanted to be sent to Italy.

Items were thrown at Detention officers and reinforcements of the Police Rapid Intervention Unit and the AFM were called in.

Photo is from an AFP story that has the nationalities of the aliens listed as well.

For new readers, I’ll bet we have over a hundred posts on Malta over the last 6 plus years.  We follow the island nation’s troubles with illegal immigration because the US State Department (egged-on by the Jesuits of Malta) has contributed to it by turning some Somalis (mostly young men!) who arrived there illegally into “refugees” and sent them to America thus creating a magnet for more illegals to attempt the journey.  Click here for our Malta archive.

Addendum:  Here is a story I don’t have time to post. It is about the pile-up of mostly economic migrants in Libya all hoping to get aboard one of these vessels to Europe.  I wonder what Samantha Power, Hillary and Susan Rice think now about their excellent adventure in Libya—so much for the responsibility to protect!

Malta and Somalia to formalize relations; first step in stopping illegal alien Somalis?

Readers, we have followed the island nation of Malta’s travails for over 5 years.  As a bit of European land closest to North Africa, the country is being swamped by migrant Somalis trying to get to Europe.

To make matters worse, a few years ago, the Bush Administration (egged-on by Malta’s Jesuits) did a foolish (and possibly illegal) thing and began transforming Malta’s illegal alien Somalis into legitimate “refugees” and began airlifting them to your towns.

African young men arriving on Malta looking for a ticket to Europe or America!

Of course, as the word got out, the action only further energized the human trafficking business aimed at Malta.  If you are ambitious, click here, to read our dozens and dozens of posts on poor Malta’s situation.

As international leaders met in NYC last week, Malta’s President sat down with a representative of the new Somali government to discuss formalization of diplomatic relations—a possible first step in deporting Somalis back to their homeland?  (They don’t say that, I’m just wondering).

From the Times of Malta:

A meeting aimed at embarking on diplomatic relations between Malta and Somalia, from where the former received the greatest number of irregular immigrants, has been held at the insistence of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat during his stay in New York for the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Maltese delegation was led by Dr Muscat, that of Somalia by Somali deputy Prime Minister Fawzia Yusuf Adam.

During the meeting, Malta made a formal request for relations to start between the two countries, a request expected to be officially confirmed by the Somali Government in the coming weeks.

This, the Government said, was the first step towards the two sides working together on irregular migration. Tangible methods of how this could be done once relations were embarked upon were discussed.

Dr Muscat said this was an important step because it opened doors to ways and possibilities of addressing the problem.

American readers should be cheering this initiative!

Holy cow!  We took 282 of Malta’s illegal aliens this (2013) fiscal year alone.  There were 257 cases with a total of 282 individuals which means most were single (most likely men).  Check it out!  Map Arrivals by Country Location as of 31 Aug.2013

Cool stats!  You know we can see statistics showing from which countries our readers come—we have had 677 ‘views’ from Malta in the last three months.  Of course, that could mean we have a handful of visitors coming many times, but still it’s encouraging to see how widespread our readership is.

Australia: Thorny asylum issues face new Australian government

Judy told you the other day, here, that the conservatives are now in control of the government in Australia and that immigration policy differences played a huge role in the election outcome.

“Hardliner” Scott Morrison appointed immigration minister in Abbott government. Photo: . AAP/David Crosling

I’m in no position to analyze the myriad issues facing the new government over its “boat people” policy going forward, but here is a legal writer at SBS.com.au , Alex Reilly, laying out the mine fields ahead for the likely new immigration minister, Scott Morrison.

Reilly:

Asylum seeker policy experienced a rush of activity in the lead-up to the election. Behind the Abbott government’s bold promise to “stop the boats” in its first term of government is a series of specific proposals – some adopted from Labor, and some of the Coalition’s own creation.

The new immigration minister, Scott Morrison, inherits a portfolio that is in disarray. There are tens of thousands of asylum seekers already in Australia who have made an application for a Protection Visa, but who have not had their claim considered at first instance by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). They are in various forms of detention or in the community on bridging visas with no rights to work.

I couldn’t possibly begin to analyze this, other than to say it sure looks “thorny!”  Read it all.

You might want to see our previous 110 posts on Australia where the public is in a much greater state of agitation over illegal aliens (mostly from Muslim countries) than Americans seem to be.   Or at least the issue is a pivotal election issue there and has not YET reached that level in the US.

Malta Today report on migrant survey results sounds elitist

The story basically says—-If only the uneducated boobs among the public were better informed they wouldn’t fear that their country was being “invaded.”

Shipment of Syrians (?) arriving on Malta’s shores.*
Nah! No invasion here, nothing to see, move along!

Longtime readers know that we have been following the plight of the tiny Mediterranean island nation of Malta as it has been overwhelmed for years with boat people (asking for asylum) from Africa—-most recently the flood is a result of the glorious Arab Spring and the US-supported (US-driven!) ouster of Gaddafi in Libya.

Our interest in Malta is two-fold.  First, as much as I hate the worn-out phrase ‘canary in a coal mine’ that about sums up what Malta represents, and secondly the US State Department (egged on by their Jesuit friends on Malta) is transforming Malta’s illegal aliens by the hundreds into “refugees” destined for your town!

Seems that a major news outlet on Malta—-Malta Today—did a survey and found that shock-of-shocks, the general public is feeling invaded.

Here is a bit of the story:

MaltaToday survey indicates that a majority of respondents (55%) support the pushback policy.  [Go here for some of our coverage last month of the proposed push-back policy.—ed]

The MaltaToday survey held this week reveals that the greatest concern the Maltese people have about migration by ‘boat people’ is the fear of being ‘invaded’ or seeing their country ‘taken over’ by migrants.

The survey indicates that a majority of respondents (55%) support the pushback policy considered by the new Labour government in July, before the European Court of Human Rights stopped any such action. It had already ruled such a policy illegal when practised by Silvio Berlusconi’s right-wing government in Italy.

Support for pushbacks is particularly strong among Labour voters and those lacking a tertiary education.

LOL! It is my experience that the less-formally-educated country class (working class) on whole are much smarter when it comes to mass immigration then their “tertiary-educated” and politically-correct fellow citizens.

The photo is from this story, although there is no caption, this must be the boatload of Syrians referred to in the article.

* Correction, a reader has reported this boat actually landed in Sicily.  Malta has only gotten a few Syrians, most arriving there are Africans.

European Union misjudged ‘refugee’ issue in wake of Arab Spring

This article at Deutsche Welle is titled:  ‘EU Planning better refugee protection’ but is nothing more than a restatement of the problem Europe, especially countries in the south (Malta, Greece, Spain and Italy), is having with being overrun by illegal migrants in the wake of the so-called ‘Arab Spring.’

Karl Kopp (Pro Asyl): Open prisons and build them housing!

I opened the article expecting to find a plan, but I sure don’t see it.  And, a ‘plan’ offered by a human rights advocate would only invite more migrants.

From Deutsche Welle (nothing new in the opening paragraphs):

Greece, Spain and Italy – many EU states are unable to cope with the influx of refugees from crisis areas and war zones. With refugee policies increasingly under fire, the EU is set to find a remedy.

[….]

Authorities in small states like Malta are overburdened by the flood of refugees. Greece, though much larger, is also strongly affected because refugees enter both by sea and by land, and migrants also try to cross into the EU illegally via the Greek-Turkish border. Many people fleeing the civil war in Syria also seek shelter in the EU.

It’s a good summary of Europe’s problem, but not much in the way of plans.  Read on.

Well, except for a plan from Pro Asyl, a human rights organization.  Spokesman Karl Kopp says:  open the prisons and build these people housing with taxpayers’ money.

Kopp has a concrete suggestion to end the inhumane conditions: “The EU should no longer detain people and build new prisons with European funds. Instead it should finance humane housing in Greece, and open the sordid jails there.” People in particular need of protection should be distributed across Europe, according to humanitarian criteria, and there should be legal ways to leave Greece, Kopp argues. “That would be an act of solidarity,” he adds.

Maybe Mr. Kopp has ‘humane housing’ (his home!) he could share with a dozen or so North Africans, Syrians or Afghans?

My suggestion:  Dump the EU and allow each country to decide questions of border security and sovereignty.
