Minneapolis Somali leader: al-Shabaab recruitment efforts present 24/7

FBI ramps up investigation of Jihadist recruitment among Somali refugee youths—this time for Syria.

Farah is executive director of Ka Joog which he says attempts to keep young Somalis from joining Jihadists.

Here we go again!  Give them the good life—food, shelter, medical care, education—and they use it to grow warriors for Allah.

From Minnesota Daily:

Agents from the Minneapolis office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are collecting information from Cedar-Riverside residents as part of an ongoing investigation spurred by recent allegations of American citizens joining Syrian rebels overseas.

Rumors that neighborhood residents are illegally fighting in conflict overseas prompted agents from the FBI to ramp up their already-existing presence in the neighborhood earlier this month, said Minneapolis FBI spokesman Kyle Loven.

He said agents are actively interviewing residents and informing them about the allegations, while also trying to figure out if anyone in the community is involved.

“We’re looking for information that would indicate that someone intends to travel to a country where there’s armed conflict,” Loven said.

Citizens are allegedly joining rebel forces in going against Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s government.

Mohamed Farah, executive director of Ka Joog, a Minnesota Somali youth group, said al-Shabaab’s recruitment efforts are present in the Somali community “24/7.”

Minneapolis: More Somali refugees leaving to join jihad (in Syria this time)

It began back in 2008 and we followed the story for years—Somali youths traded the good life in America (generously supplied by your tax dollars) to go join Al-Shabaab in Somalia.   Some died, some came back and were prosecuted, others are still unaccounted for.    Now comes news that more Somali youths, motivated by ideology, are believed to be joining the “rebels” in Syria this time.

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) –

The FBI says more Somali travelers have left Minnesota, possibly to fight against the regime of President Bashar Assad in Syria. Investigators believe those who left Minnesota were motivated by radical ideology, not nationalism.

SOURCE: 12 MINNESOTA SOMALIS HAVE LEFT FOR SYRIA

The FBI has not specified how many people are believed to involved, but a leader in the Minnesota Somali community told Fox 9 News a dozen men have left. The FBI confirmed they have “indications” that some recently traveled overseas. Now, they are reaching out to the large Somali population in Minnesota to learn more.

One young man — a 20-year-old Somali college student — left the Twin Cities as recently as last Thursday. He sent a text message to his family from Istanbul, Turkey, to say he was heading to Syria to fight in the holy war.

RECENT SUICIDE BOMBING LINKED TO FLORIDA MAN

The request for tips comes about a week after an American from Florida died in a suicide bombing attack on Syrian government troops in the city of Iblib.

Moner Mohammad Abu-Salha, 22, is believed to be the first U.S. citizen involved in a suicide bombing in the civil war’s three-year history. His family thought he was in Jordan when he died.

It is America’s fault!

Oh, those poor “vulnerable” babies in Minneapolis!

MINNESOTA SOMALI COMMUNITY ‘VULNERABLE’

Since 2007, at least 22 young men have left Minnesota to join al-Shabaab in Somalia. Some have died there, and some were even praised as “Minnesota Martyrs” in an elaborate video released last year.

[….]

Some of the so-called travelers were prosecuted for their role in what the FBI has described as one of the largest efforts to recruit U.S. fighters to a foreign terrorist organization, and community activist Abdi Bihi says his community is particularly vulnerable to such efforts due to a lack of jobs, programs and feeling like outsiders.

Yeh, spend more money on “programs” that will solve the problem!   These ungrateful punks would not be in a position (alive and healthy) to become “fighters” if it weren’t for all the money Americans spent on their upbringing.

Now the next question is, will they be back?

Minneapolis: Somalis want to expand mall, neighbors opposed

I expect to see David Lubell and his “Welcoming America” gang stepping in here to support the Somali “entrepreneurs” who say business is booming in South Minneapolis and to get the minds right of these clearly “unwelcoming” neighbors.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges donned a hijab to visit business leaders in South Minneapolis! http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2014/04/mayor-hodges-dons-the-hijab.php

However, here is what I don’t get, how does this notion that business is booming fit with the statistics we reported yesterday from Minnesota that 63% of Somalis in that state live below the poverty level.  Where are they getting the money then to shop and hang around to watch soccer and drink tea?

From the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Local Somalis had high hopes for the expansion of a Somali mall in south Minneapolis, after the owner proposed adding nearly 9,000 square feet of space and expanding the parking lot.

But one by one, the mall’s neighbors showed up to testify at a Planning Commission meeting late Monday that the mall had already caused many traffic and parking problems in the area.

City planning commissioners voted down the expansion Monday night, calling on the developer to further study how it would affect traffic. City planners had supported the project.

The crowded mall is the latest example of a problem throughout the city: balancing the needs of neighborhood businesses with complaints that their customers overwhelm the streets.  [Do you have “customers” overwhelming the streets where you live?—ed]

Are they just hanging around with not much to do (on the taxpayers’ dime)?

Cars park where there are no designated spaces, often boxing each other in and sometimes even blocking the mall’s entrances as East African immigrants stream in to drink tea, watch soccer, log on to computers, have their hair cut, and buy dresses, scarves and rugs.

Here is what the neighbors say:

Many Somali immigrants stepped up to support the project before planning commissioners on Monday, but opponents said that Village Market, as the mall is known, was never designed to support so many visitors and businesses. It has invited noise, illegal parking, littering, crime, dangerous driving maneuvers and loud music. Some said they had seen ambulances struggle to weave through.

Hey, lucky Cheyenne, Wyoming!  This could be you someday!

Thank Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services and World Relief Minnesota for helping make this lovely situation possible in Minneapolis!

Minnesota: Somalis protest Kenyan crackdown on terrorists; want US to intervene

Kenya may be one of the only countries in Africa which has a will for self-preservation and so they have begun to clean-up some hotbeds of anti-Kenyan activity, especially neighborhoods associated with the Westgate Mall slaughter by a band of Somali al-Shabaab terrorists*** last September.

Community organizer, Jibril Afyare (center?), led 100 picketers in St. Paul condemning Kenya.

However, the Minnesota Somali “community” apparently doesn’t think Kenya has the right to save itself and agitators there, including newly elected city council member Abdi Warsame, are calling on the US government to step in. They say they want “justice.”

From MinnPost:

After members of the Twin Cities’ Somali-American community said their afternoon prayers Friday, they gathered at the state Capitol to express solidarity and demand justice for relatives in Kenya.

Reports from human rights groups, news stories and communications with relatives describe abuses against Somalis in Eastleigh, a suburb of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi that is known for its large Somali population.

As part of an ongoing counter-terrorism crackdown, Kenyan security forces launched house-to-house searches in Eastleigh last Monday.

US government should intervene in Kenyan affairs says community organizer.

Nearly 100 picketers joined the Friday demonstration in St. Paul, condemning actions by Kenyan government and demanding the release of those detained.

Jibril Afyare, an activist who organized the demonstration, said the event was meant to raise awareness and ask the U.S. government to intervene and stand with Somalis in Kenya.

Warsame:  Somalis in prison everywhere!

Minneapolis City Council member Abdi Warsame, Somali-born with personal ties to Somalis in Kenya, was among the elected officials who attended Friday’s Capitol gathering.

Addressing the crowd in Somali, Warsame said: “Somalis everywhere are in prisons. We’re in prison in Hennepin County. We’re in prison in Nairobi. We’re in prison in Mogadishu.”

LOL! Maybe there is a reason for that!

As I said the other day, why don’t young, strong, educated Somalis like Afyare and Warsame go back to Somalia and save their country from further ruin instead of flapping their gums from the safety of Minnesota.  I think I know why—it is not about Somalia.  They are more interested in Al-Hijra—the Islamic doctrine of immigration—for both Kenya and America.

*** Remember readers that there are Somalis in prison in the US for sending financial support to al-Shabaab.

Report: Minnesota not “nice” enough to refugees/illegal aliens

Our Minnesota readers will be angered (or rolling on the floor laughing) at this news!

Robin Phillips: Minnesotans violate refugees/migrants human rights!

From the Star Tribune (hat tip: Robin).  Emphasis is mine:

Despite a self-professed sense of acceptance of newcomers and a well-worn notion of “Minnesota Nice,” the state does not provide some of the most basic protections to the more than 350,000 immigrants and refugees living here, a new report claims.

From public safety policies that force immigrants to live in fear of deportation to some of the worst racial disparities in the nation in income, health, and educational outcomes, the failures undermine the state’s values and squander the potential resources newcomers can contribute, according to a report from the Advocates for Human Rights, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit.

The study, “Moving from Exclusion to Belonging,” looks at a number of federal policies that the report says have combined to create a sense of exclusion. Those include what it calls “meager provisions” of a maximum 90 days of assistance for refugees after arrival, and a six-month wait before asylum seekers become eligible to apply for a work permit.

[….]

“Laws, policies and practices exclude immigrants and refugees from full participation in our community and violate their human rights,” said Robin Phillips, executive director for the organization.

Read it all!

And, then you might want to revisit this old post from 2011,Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis, where we learned that it was due to the “welcoming” social services in Minnesota that US resettlement contractors (Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services and World Relief)  have been pouring them into Minnesota for more than 25 years!   We recently learned that secondary migrants are flooding into Minnesota as well.

This is one of the strategies we see all too often—Leftists write reports and then use them as news hooks.
