Somalis show their colors in Minnesota house race

Diversity is strength alert!  (And, there is another good laugh at the end of this post too!)

For a little break from the invasion at the border, here is an update that ‘pungentpeppers’ found about the increasing violence between both sides (both sides have Somali supporters)—between the “old Jewish lady” and the “Muslim brother” for a seat representing the largest concentration of  Somalis probably in America.

Khan (aka old Jewish lady) vs. Noor (aka Muslim brother)

Our earlier story is here.

From Politics in Minnesota:

The Kahn-Noor race has caused or exposed a rift in Minneapolis’ Somali community that’s led to allegations of violence unprecedented in recent Minnesota campaigns.

Here is the background.  Minnesota campaign need (not yard signs or a voter list)—pepper spray!

The tooth-and-nail contest between 42-year incumbent Rep. Phyllis Kahn and Somali newcomer Mohamud Noor continues to draw allegations of violence, intimidation and voter suppression from both sides of the race. It has also spawned at least two legal disputes.

The complicated relationships that cut across both campaigns can’t be jammed into neat cultural or generational boxes. Kahn, with the help of longtime Minneapolis DFL power broker Brian Rice, has carved out a small but impressive bloc of Somali activist supporters. They include City Council Member Abdi Warsame, who was part of a new guard elected to city government in 2013. Whether that will be enough to blunt the strength of Noor’s support among Somali voters in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood is difficult to tell.

Noor did manage to keep Kahn from securing the DFL’s endorsement at the Senate District 60 convention in April, thereby punching his ticket to their primary face-off on August 12.

“That’s why it’s so intense, and that’s why it’s such a mess: because both sides perceive that this is such a critical race,” political expert David Schultz said. “For Phyllis Kahn, this is it… she’s fighting because this is the first time she’s had a serious fight.”

But Rice and Kahn’s efforts to curry support among Somalis have revealed schisms in the tight-knit community, where two alleged instances of high-profile violence against Noor supporters have marred the campaign so far. One, just last week, has prompted a few Noor volunteers to begin carrying pepper spray, and some volunteers say they are afraid for their safety.

Read it all.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that there are Somali factions fighting on both sides, remember it is just that type of squabbling (and the clan wars) that has ruined Somalia and they have brought their quarrelsome cultural practices with them.  But, as the Lutheran, Catholic and Jewish groups resettling refugees to your towns will tell you again and again—this cultural diversity is sooo beautiful.

Vote fraud alleged!

In our earlier post we reported on the voter fraud alleged in the previous election.  Steve Sailer writing at VDARE asked an important question (when posting on this article)—so how did they become citizens if they can’t understand English?  Here is the quote from the article:

One alleges that a Minneapolis elections judge named Fadmo called Kahn “an old Jewish Lady” while interpreting the primary ballot for a Somali man who was recently at City Hall to cast his absentee ballot. On the other hand, Fadmo characterized Noor as “our Muslim brother,” the complaint says.

And, here is Sailer’s observation:

If the Somali voter passed the citizenship test, why isn’t he literate in English? Why does he need fellow Somali Fadmo to tell him which squiggle on the ballot represents “our Muslim brother” and which squiggle “an old Jewish lady?”

The white man must stop trying to suppress the right to vote of illiterate Somali citizens; in the spirit of cultural sensitivity, candidates names should appear on the ballots not only in Arabic, but, for the illiterate, should come marked with symbols instantly recognizable to a Somali as Good (e.g., Mohamud Noor’s name could be accompanied by a picture of an AK-47) or Bad (e.g., a sow).

Fun huh!  Eat your heart out if your Somali Muslim population isn’t large enough yet to show you the joys of multicultural political campaign tactics.

One of our top posts of all time is this one from 2011—Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis.

Arizona: Sudanese refugee sentenced in drunk driving case, boy died

Diversity is strength alert!

Mabior Ding led a “tortuous” childhood in Africa, said the judge.

After running over an 11 year old Hispanic kid in the parking lot of an apartment complex, Mabior Ding took off because he didn’t understand the language spoken by the boy’s people.

This case involved two taxpayer-funded interpreters—one Arabic and one Spanish.

The added expense to “welcoming” communities for court, health care and school interpreters is rarely mentioned as the Open Borders agitators including the refugee resettlement contractors push for more immigrants.

From Arizona Central (Hat tip: ‘pungentpeppers’):

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge sentenced a Sudanese man on Friday to 10 years in prison and five years of supervised probation in the hit-and-run death of an 11-year-old boy last year.

Mabior Ding, 33, pleaded guilty in March to manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

At his sentencing hearing, Ding told an Arabic language interpreter t

Enoc Quejada was hit by the drunk-driving Ding in a Phoenix multicultural apartment complex parking lot.

hat he had helped the child before fleeing but that he was frightened when the people around him spoke a language he did not understand. Ding said he apologized to the family at the scene.

[….]

Enoc’s aunt, Rosa Quejada, told a Spanish language interpreter that Enoc was a beloved nephew who had hopes to go to school, study and become an adult.

Ding used the terrible-childhood-in-Africa defense:

Judge Jeanne Garcia took into consideration Ding’s turbulent past when deciding his sentence. Ding grew up in Sudan, where he experienced a “tortuous” childhood.

If Ding hadn’t been drinking, Garcia said, the accident could have been avoided.

The 317 days that Ding has already served will be applied to his 10-year prison sentence. Garcia also required Ding to seek substance-abuse help.

One more criminal case a local jurisdiction is paying for.  Shouldn’t the US State Department be chipping in to pay the bill for the trial and for Ding’s incarceration.

By the way, Phoenix is a US State Department preferred resettlement site.

Canadian (Muslim!) professor: Canada has disarmed itself by swallowing the toxin of multiculturalism

…..and, if Canada has, surely the US is worse because a debate like this one (hosted in part by a mainstream news outlet) would never even happen in America!  Frankly, even our major immigration control groups don’t have the nerve to address this issue publicly!

Dr. Salim Mansur has called for a moratorium on immigration to Canada from Muslim countries. http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/archives/sunnews/politics/2012/12/20121218-185339.html

Here is the story from Israel National News.   Isn’t that funny that this account of what happened is published in Israel.  The only other report I saw in Canada was one blasting the professor for his “Islamophobia!”

Emphasis below is mine:

The MacDonald-Laurier Institute and the Globe and Mail held a public conference recently on the phenomenon of Muslim immigration to the West, which debated whether or not the influx is bringing a culture of violence to Canada and other Western countries.

The debate was conducted between Doug Saunders, journalist for Foreign Affairs for the Globe and Mail, and Salim Mansur, a Political Science professor at the University of Western Ontario, reports Shalom Toronto.

The two addressed the following questions: Are immigrants from Muslim countries bringing violence and values that are inconsistent with Western values? Are Muslim immigrants integrating into Western society in the same ways that other ethnic minorities do? And, is Muslim immigration a threat to Canada or West?

Interestingly, it was the political science professor – who is, himself, Muslim – who maintained that Islam remains a threat to Canadian society.

You can read what Saunders had to say and then this is what Dr. Mansur warns us about:

“Canadians’ mistaken notion that all cultures are equal has disarmed this nation in the confrontation with the illiberal demands of radical Islam,” he fired, noting he was “drawing upon – as an immigrant, as a person of color and as a Muslim – inside knowledge of and lived experience in the cultures of both liberal democracy and Islam.”

“A liberal-democratic society based on individual rights, freedom, and the rule of law cannot indefinitely accommodate non-liberal or illiberal demands from immigrant groups without subverting its own culture,” Mansur noted. He then identified three risk factors: the rise in birthrates among the Muslim community, the nature of Muslim culture and its relationship to non-Muslim cultures, and the West’s multiculturalism.

Statistics cited by the professor include proof that the foreign-born population in Canada has become predominantly non-Western since 1967, especially in major city centers, and that the Muslim immigrant population is growing four times faster than other immigrant populations.

As a culture, Mansur stressed, Islam became a “rigid, closed system” during the 14th century, as a result of a heavy Bedouin influence. Mansur maintains that early Islam found Bedouin culture “savage” – but it nonetheless prevailed.

“The full face of this Bedouin-ized Islamic culture that has wrecked the diversity of the Muslim world from within is to be seen in the bigotry, violence, vulgarity and misogyny of Al Qaeda, the Taliban, the Khomeini followers,” Mansur noted. “It is the nature of mainstream contemporary Muslim politics – or Islamism – to conform to the Bedouin disposition.”

This disposition, Mansur claimed, characterizes contemporary Islamic values – even in immigrant communities. The things heard in Canadian mosques are “intractably opposed to liberal democracy,” and aim to “ruin from within” Canadian and Western values, according to the Professor.

Multiculturalism, meanwhile, threatens to allow this attitude to rear its ugly head in the political sphere, according to Mansur.

“In having swallowed the toxin of official multiculturalism, Canada has disarmed itself of the ability to discriminate between immigrant groups which are importing cultural baggage that is harmless, and those that are toxic to the values of liberal democracy,” Mansur concludes.

Time for a little more debate in America about the forbidden ‘M’ words—-Muslims, multiculturalism, and moratorium!

Top ten languages spoken by refugees admitted to US (2008-2013)

Your tax dollars!

What did convicted murderer Esar Met’s translation services cost the taxpayers of Utah?

Note especially to our Wyoming and Toledo, Ohio readers!

When your “welcoming” community is preparing to open its arms to refugees for the first time, remember it is required by federal law that your local government is responsible for the cost of educating the kids (don’t forget the ESL budget), and for providing interpreters for medical services (refugees come with HIV/AIDS and TB, need costly meds) and for any court proceedings (how much did that recent refugee murder trial cost Utah or the Colorado rape trial cost?).

One huge problem that happened near where I live is that fire and rescue had an emergency involving a refugee they were not aware of, and due to a language barrier an unnecessarily expensive and frightening ‘rescue’ occurred because they thought the woman had Ebola (a disease first discovered in the Congo)!

Here is some useful data for your consideration.  Local governments! Better get your translators lined up!

Canada tilting away from open-armed multiculturalism

No kidding!  That’s what the Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend in it’s longish front page story entitled, ‘Canada seeks immigrants who fit better.’

Revisit my post yesterday about ‘Little Mogadishu’ in Toronto before reading on.  Ha! Ha! I wonder what gave them the first clue that certain immigrants today aren’t integrating or helping the economic health of Canada.  The problem for Canada (and the US) is that hard left open borders advocates think they can tame the barbarians and you can be sure they are already hard at work to undermine this plan.

From the WSJ:

TORONTO—As American lawmakers debate how to revamp U.S. immigration policy, Canada has embarked on a major immigration overhaul of its own aimed at choosing newcomers who are a better fit for its economy and society.

[….]

This August, Canada began to accept its first immigrants under part of an overhaul that puts greater emphasis on factors such as an applicant’s job skills and fluency in English or French.

A major objective: Fix what the Canadian government sees as a growing economic chasm between locals and many of the immigrants that Canada’s old applicant-screening system selected—a chasm it worries could spark the sort of immigration-related social tension that has flared in other developed countries.   [Hint to the WSJ and the Canadian government it isn’t all about who makes more money—this is a cultural war between ‘civilization and barbarism.’—ed]

Canada accepts more immigrants per capita than any of the Group of Seven most-advanced economies. The country, which has officially embraced multiculturalism for decades, won mostly praise for how it selects newcomers, particularly through a points system that tries to evaluate an applicant’s ability to thrive economically.

But since the 1970s, pay among new arrivals has increasingly fallen further behind pay of locals. And some Canadians question whether immigrants are integrating well enough into Canadian society.

The WSJ reporter states the obvious!  Canadians have had it with this multicultural bulls***.

By some measures, public opinion also appears to have tilted away from Canada’s traditional open-armed multiculturalism.

Canadians went through a round of soul-searching last year after the high-profile convictions of three Afghan family members who murdered four other members they deemed too Westernized. In a December survey, 70% of respondents said too many immigrants aren’t adopting Canadian values, up from 58% in 2005, according to Environics Institute, a Toronto research group.

Editors note regarding the graph above.  European countries, and Canada too obviously, lump all ‘Asians’ together leaving you with the notion it’s mostly some nice Chinese grannies running dry cleaning businesses filling up the ‘Asia’ category.  To get a more accurate idea of who is coming, those from Muslim countries should have their own separate category on such a graph.

We have an entire Canada category, click here for our previous 116 posts on problems with refugees and asylum north of the border.
