Guest column: Norwegian ‘Dream Act’ Failure Led to Teenaged Mother’s Murder

Editor’s note:  From time to time we publish a guest column.  This one is from our reader ‘pungentpeppers’ who has been indispensable in finding us some incredible stories to post.

The teenaged mother was stabbed in the shower by her husband, who was not named in media accounts.

Immigration Law Designed to Protect Children Backfires

A murder case in Norway reveals an Afghan man married a much younger, underage wife, and intended to use her for immigration benefits. When she and their child were granted temporary residency (as unaccompanied minors), but she failed to file for her husband who was living illegally in Norway, the husband killed her.  Norwegian prosecutors cite the husband’s motive for murder as “jealousy”.

The victim’s name is Fahezeh Ahmadi.  The husband has not been identified. Fahezeh was only 14 when she was married off to her 26-year-old cousin in Afghanistan.  A year later she gave birth to a baby daughter.  After a time, the family left Afghanistan and headed to Norway, arriving in March 2013.  Once in Norway, the teenager sought asylum with her daughter. She filed on the basis that she she was “unaccompanied” having become separated from her husband while traveling.

As a minor apparently alone in Norway with a child, she was granted temporary residence and was living in an asylum center on Norway’s south coast.

However, Fahezeh was not alone – her husband was in Norway, illegally, and may have been staying with Fahezeh’s sister!

In June 2013, Fahezeh applied for leave from the asylum center to visit her sister living in Grua, a small town some distance away.  While she was taking a shower at her sister’s home, Fahezeh’s husband stabbed her three times, killing her. The husband then fled, snatching their two-year-old daughter.

The motherless two-year old was found in Italy.

After a search spanning several countries, Fehezeh’s husband was arrested in Italy, and both he and the child were returned to Norway.  The husband admitted to killing his wife.  Last week, the now 29-year-old was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the murder that the court believed was pre-meditated.  The killer plans to appeal.

Norwegian society’s best intentions were expressed by laws guaranteeing immigration rights to children.  However, those laws killed Fahezeh.  Fahezeh met her fate because she failed to deliver the goods that were expected by her husband – goods that he believed were his right under Norwegian law – legal residency for himself as the spouse of a woman who applied for asylum while still a minor.

Our world has too many unscrupulous, predatory and manipulative adults.  Sometimes it is the parents who send their children off “alone” – often to a dangerous and uncertain fate – with the expectation that they will obtain residency and then produce immigration papers for the rest of the family.  Other times, the culprits are the husbands of vulnerable young girls – as in Fahezeh’s tragic Norwegian saga.

“Exactly what the powers of hell feed on: the best instincts in man.” – author Philip K. Dick

Note to foreign readers:  The “Dream Act” is a proposed law that would grant residency rights and ultimately citizenship to children who are illegally present in the U.S.  When Congress didn’t pass the bill, President Obama, with the stroke of a pen, created the  Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program which gives illegal alien minors the right to stay and work in the US (and go to college at taxpayer expense!).  The US is also experiencing an explosion in ‘unaccompanied minors’ arrivals (like Fahezeh in Norway) who come under the care of contractors hired by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Soros strikes again with Open Society report on Somalis in Norway

Somalis protest in Oslo: Some children taken out of families because of allegations of child abuse.

We told you previously that George Soros’ Open Society Foundation is doing a seven-city tour of Europe to report on how Somalis are doing in their new homes.  Our earlier report on their recommendations for Helsinki is here.

The seven cities are:  Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Malmo, Leicester, London, and Oslo.

And, why they picked Somalis of all the immigrant groups flooding Europe, I don’t know.  My guess is that since the Somalis can be fractious, maybe they are worried that Somalis will hurt their one-world goal more than other ethnic groups might due to their trouble assimilating.

Here is some of what the researchers recommend—it all involves Norway spending more money to train Somalis to do some sort of work and to push for their inclusion into the still discriminatory Norwegian society.  They also say Norway has to get away from this idea of “formal qualifications” for employment, and they recommend boosting the ethnic based community organizing groups (we have Somali ethnic community organizing groups all over the US largely paid for with taxpayer dollars to organize Somalis for engagement in the political process and to sign them up for the social services they are entitled to!  Never heard of it, see our whole category on ECBOs here).

There doesn’t seem to be a word that I see in the summary of the report about Somalis needing to try harder to fit in!

From PRIO Network (emphasis mine):

OSLO— Developing Oslo’s vibrant and dynamic Norwegian-Somali civil society organizations and strengthening their engagement with the city of Oslo is key to Norwegian-Somalis’ full and equal participation as residents of Oslo.

Poverty remains one of the single greatest barriers to Norwegian-Somali inclusion in Oslo. This leads to challenges in education, employment, housing and health and is further exacerbated by negative portrayals of Somalis within the Norwegian media.

The report Somalis in Oslo, launched today by the Open Society Foundations, finds that the emphasis on formal qualifications within the Norwegian labour market together with discrimination in hiring processes are leading to high rates of Somali exclusion from employment in Oslo. To overcome the gap between the demands of the Norwegian labour market and the limited formal qualifications that many Somalis have upon entering Norway, the report recommends better emphasis be placed by employers and employment agencies on making more out of the actual skills and experiences of individuals.  [What might those be?—ed]

[…..]

Somalis in Oslo recommends that the city of Oslo, which has developed robust policies for managing inclusion, and others concerned with inclusion such as the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration, the Directorate of Integration and Diversity and the Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion, strengthen their engagement with Somali and other minority communities. The research advises that Norwegian-Somali civil society organizations build their skills and improve collaboration to help better cross-community engagement. To tackle unemployment among Norwegian-Somalis, the research recommends government and civil society organizations address language needs, invest in mentor programs and offer help to Norwegian-Somalis on recruitment and employment practices.

The photo is from this poorly written undated story, but is seems that the authorities have taken some children out of Somali homes where abuse has been alleged (you know, one of those cultural relevance things we westerners can’t appreciate).   While looking around on the subject of how Somalis are doing in Norway, I also found this 2011 post at Tundra Tabloids about welfare fraud among Somalis in Norway where Somali women claim to have no husband in order to receive generous welfare benefits (but continue to produce babies with their “former” hubby).

Bruce Bawer: Norway’s insane asylum seekers

Some of the charming-looking and underfed asylum seekers whose blue trays were used for protest signs.

Frontpage magazine has a good article by author Bruce Bawer about how Norway is being transformed by the Left with the help of mostly Muslim migrants from various of the world’s hell holes.  Hat tip: Judy

Here are some snips from the must-read article (emphasis is mine):

We hear relatively often these days about the large and growing Muslim communities in major European cities. Less frequently a subject of media attention in the U.S., however, is an equally significant phenomenon: the asylum centers that dot the landscape in many countries. In Norway alone, with a total population of only five million, there are a hundred or so such establishments around the country, some of them in largish cities, some in rural hamlets. In these centers reside individuals of foreign origin, mostly from the Muslim world, who are awaiting decisions about their applications for asylum. The places aren’t locked. (Those who humbly propose locking them are routinely depicted by the political and cultural elite as inhuman bigots.) Consequently, they serve for many of their residents as handy bases from which they can venture out and plunder the locals. They are, in other words, Ground Zeroes for criminality. It should also be pointed out that many, if not most, of the people living in them have no legitimate right to asylum at all.

On Wednesday, November 27, a group of men who live in the Hvalsmoen asylum center on the outskirts of Hønefoss, a town in the southeastern Norwegian municipality of Ringerike, staged a protest against what they considered lousy meals and small portions in the cafeteria. The protesters, who numbered somewhere between 25 and 30 and hail from Syria, Sudan, Iran, Morocco, Somalia, and the Palestinian territories, vandalized their blue food trays, scrawling “Hungry strik” (which isn’t correct in any language) and “Nei rasisme” on them (picture here), and marched into downtown Hønefoss, crying racism.

[…..]

The men’s complaints didn’t set well with many of the people of Ringerike, who, like other Norwegians, are already less than thrilled with the presence of these centers in their midst.

Bawer wraps up with this:

How depressing it is that while so many ordinary Norwegian citizens plainly have a very clear picture of what’s going on at these asylum centers – and of what it bodes for the future of their countries – their elected representatives seem not to grasp (or not to want to face the fact) that people who can be so arrogant, demanding, and belligerent even while their asylum applications are being scrutinized are probably not very likely to end up as peaceable, law-abiding, and productive citizens of Norway. Legitimate refugees don’t act this way; conquerors do.

For me, the most poignant reader comment on any of the news stories about this food flap was one that was posted by a young man who identified himself as Geir. “How did it get like this in Norway?” he asked. “I don’t get it. It wasn’t so bad when I was growing up in Oslo in the 1990s. What’s happening? It’s enough to make you go crazy.” Yes, it is. And what can make you go crazy even faster is that, thanks to the top-notch efforts of the schools and the media, somebody who grew up in Oslo in the 1990s can have reached adulthood without really understanding what’s been done to his country in his name.

Norway: Failed asylum seeker slaughters three innocent people on rural bus

19-year-old Margaret Molland Sanden knifed to death by Sudanese man along with two other innocent men, one the bus driver, in rural Norway.

And, believe it or not, it’s not the first time an African migrant killed a Norwegian on the same bus line!

Writing at Limits to Growth, blogger Brenda Walker alerted us to the sickening news.

She begins her post:

The Refugee Industrial Complex wants us to believe that asylum seekers are poor little waifs who need the help of the too-rich West. But some of the demanding refugee crowd are dangerous characters, as was demonstrated recently in rural Norway, where a knife-wielding Sudanese man murdered three on a bus after he had been refused asylum.

We are directed to the news in The Local on November 4th:

The 31-year-old,  who was living at an asylum reception centre in Årdal,  was due to be deported to Spain on Tuesday, after having his application rejected in June.

“This person had applied for asylum, and come to Norway in April,” a spokesman for Norway’s immigration directorate said. “He was rejected in June, and was supposed to be returned to Spain under the so-called Dublin Regulation.”

The reference here to the Dublin Regulation refers to the EU policy put in place about ten years ago to try to reduce the number of asylum shoppers who land in one country and then ‘make their way’ to another country within the EU that is more to their liking.

The man is accused of killing the bus driver, Arve Haug Bagn (55) and Margaret Molland Sanden, a 19-year-old biotechnology student at the Oslo and Akerhus University College of Applied Sciences. The third victim,  a Swedish man in his 50s, has not been named.

[….]

The bus, the Valdres Express, travels the four-hour journey from the mountainous region of Valdres to Oslo , nd was hijacked between the towns of Årdal and Tyin in Sogn og Fjordane county.

The attack marks the second time the Valdres Express has been hijacked. In 2003, it was hijacked by a mentally disturbed 26-year-old Ethiopian man who stabbed the driver to death.

There is a follow-up story yesterday, also at The Local which brings up the subject of Anders Breivik in relation to the slow police response to the bus slaughter.  Readers will remember that Breivik’s main beef (which the anti-free speech Norwegians never let him vent, until they were forced to hear it in his murder trial) when he went on his slaughter spree of children of Norway’s Leftists, was that African and Middle Eastern immigration was killing Norway.

Police said the man suspected of hijacking a bus on Monday evening, killing all on board, was a 30-year-old asylum seeker from South Sudan whose application had been rejected and who was due to be deported.

[….]

Fire fighters and medical personnel were first to arrive on the scene,  ahead of police, and used a fire extinguisher to disable him.  [A fire extinguisher!—what else in the land of no guns!—imagine how things might have been different if that poor bus driver had a gun!—ed]

[….]

That fact has re-awakened criticism of the police which surfaced after the brutal massacre carried out by the right wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik on July 21, 2011.

[….]

Breivik killed 69 young Labour Party members on the island of Utøya on a 75-minute shooting rampage which was preceded by a bomb attack killing eight in central Oslo.

Then much to my shock, The Local has the audacity, the poor judgement!, to post a sidebar story also yesterday entitled Ten Things Norwegians do that annoy Foreigners.’   Be sure to look at the trivial ten!

In fairness now, they should publish ‘Ten things foreigners do that annoy Norwegians.’

No 1:  Killing our beautiful girls on buses!

I won’t hold my breath!

Addendum:  If any one sees more news on this in which the religious affiliation of the murderer is identified, let us know (I won’t hold my breath on that either!).

Our lengthy Norway archive is here.

Norway: authorities concerned as two more Somali refugees give up good life for Jihad

This time it is two Somali girls and they went to Syria to join the Jihad.

Product of Norwegian refugee program—hunting in Nairobi!

Stories like this one in the Washington Post (‘Norway’s Somali community rattled by reports of young members joining jihadist groups’) like to put a spin on the story with a title like that one—the “Somali community” is worried! It is a subtle way to send the message that there are only a few bad apples in the bunch, and leaders of the “Somali community” and the mainstream media want to be sure you understand that (even if you only read the headline).

This piece might well have been titled:  ‘Norwegian intelligence concerned that 30-40 Norwegians have joined Jihad in Syria; could bring terror-training back to Norway.’

Here is AP at the WaPo (emphasis is mine):

OSLO, Norway — Somali immigrants in Norway fear that violent extremism is taking root in the community after reports of young Somali-Norwegians traveling abroad to join jihadist groups.

One of the gunmen in the Nairobi, Kenya, mall attack that killed 67 people last month has been identified as Hassan Abdi Dhuhulow, a 23-year-old Norwegian citizen who returned to his native Somalia in 2010.

Norway’s Somali community was still coming to terms with that news when it was struck by another startling development: Two teenage sisters — 16 and 19 — had left their family in Norway to join the civil war in Syria.

“It is very shocking,” said Mohamed Husein Gaas, a Somali-born East Africa expert at the Fafo research foundation in Oslo. “No one thought two young girls would travel to a place where they don’t have any connection.”

It’s not clear how exactly the sisters from suburban Oslo, who have not been named, planned to participate in the Syrian war. But they told their family they wanted to take part in jihad, said Bashe Musse, a Somali community leader and local politician in Oslo.

Norwegian newspaper VG said they flew to Turkey and made their way to the Syrian border, without telling their family until they had left Norway.

There’s Turkey again!—is the Erdogan government facilitating the movement of Islamists through Turkey?  See Bulgaria here a few days ago.

Then this:

…..the vast majority of Somalis in Norway don’t support violent extremism. About 30,000 people in Norway were either born in Somalia or have Somali parents. The wealthy Nordic country is one of the most popular destinations for Somali immigrants in Europe along with Britain, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The Syria conflict has attracted hundreds of foreign fighters from European countries, many of whom have joined Islamic militant groups. An estimated 30 to 40 people — and possibly more — have left from Norway alone, according to the domestic intelligence service PST. Security officials are concerned that they could pose terror threats once they return home combat-hardened and traumatized by war.

Are we raising Muslim armies?

We’ve often noted that Somalis/other refugees come to the West and we raise the kids (with your tax dollars), grow them into healthy and educated adults who then have no interest in the Western “good life.”  Had we left them in their own hellholes in Africa and the Middle East they may well have never survived to become Jihadists!
