“Where is your courage and bravery to stand against the Marxist mobs!?!?”
(An Oklahoman)
Cancel culture only works because every coward goes along with it.
(Mark Steyn)
You surely heard that Senators James Lankford of Oklahoma and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin have suggested dumping Columbus Day and replacing it with ‘Juneteenth’ on the federal holiday calendar.
Alan Wall writing at US Inc tells us what happened back home in Oklahoma as that news spread.
Before I get to Wall’s post, know that everything I write in the coming days, weeks, months at both of my blogs will have an underlying theme—you must be prepared, you must fight the mob where you live, and you must slam these pandering Republicans at every level of government.
OK Senator Angers Constituents with Columbus Day Proposal
“So when did you become a liberal? Quit pandering to the mob. Do what you were elected [to do].”
Thus wrote an angry Okie on the Facebook comments section of Oklahoma U.S. Senator James Lankford page. (Message slightly edited for punctuation and capitalization.)
Senator Lankford had joined fellow Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin with a proposal to dump Columbus Day as a federal holiday and replace it with “Juneteenth.”
This proposal was quickly publicized, and many Oklahomans contacted the Senator to protest.
[….]
Lankford and Johnson, advancing the argument of saving money by not increasing the amount of federal holidays from ten to eleven, had proposed dropping Columbus Day and replacing it with Juneteenth, thus keeping the amount of federal holidays to ten.
But the timing of their proposal made it look like Lankford and Johnson were surrendering to the mobs who are defacing monuments and tearing down statues.
[….]
On July 3rd, Senators Johnson and Lankford withdrew their proposal to drop Columbus Day, though Senator Johnson plans to submit a proposal “to reduce the number of paid leave days federal employees receive” without dropping Columbus Day.
[….]
It’s relevant to point out that Senator Lankford is extremely unreliable on the immigration issue. Numbers USA evaluates Lankford with a B+ Career grade (2011-2020), a B Recent grade (2017-2020) and a C- grade for the current Congress (2019-2020).
Obviously, Lankford’s voting on immigration measures is getting progressively worse.
Lankford’s votes on immigration issues do not tell the whole story.
Regular readers of RRW know that Senator Lankford, consistently siding with the most radical Leftists in the Senate, has opposed all efforts by the President to reduce the flow of refugees entering the country and opposes Trump’s efforts to reform how the resettlement process works.
Demonstrating that it is not impossible, the good folks of Oklahoma forced Lankford to back down this time!
Mark Steyn has a fantastic piece posted at his subscription-only site addressing the cowardice of Republican elected officials, that would include Senator Lankford, and the so-called smart thinkers on the Right. He wraps with telling you to fight (in your communities) those destroying the America we love.
November is too late!
So wanker*** Right’s theory that all we gotta do is sit back and let these clowns run amok and their defects will be so obvious, people will come running to us and November will be a landslide. They’ve assured us of that bollocks for decades as they lost the schools and they lost the pop culture, and they lost everything else even now, unto the statue on the village green. Speak up, speak out, to the school board, to your coworkers, to your neighbors, because you can’t have a culture war if one side doesn’t even show up.
***Wanker: Someone excessively and annoyingly pretentious and/or false.
I wish I had time to write more about this today, but I have an important post to get to from LeoHohmann.com.
New readers, especially readers from Oklahoma, need to know that World Relief is a member of the Religious Leftand is one of nine federal refugee resettlement contractors.***
In arecent analysiswe learned that they are 73% funded from the federal treasury and here they are doing media events in support of the DACA ‘kids’ and in opposition to a Republican President.
Clearly, either Senator Lankford endorses the idea of federally-funded NGOs staging political events (starring him! and using our money?), or his staff is not well-informed.
More here. World Relief also has a letter being published in the WaPo today listing pastors who support their open borders view. I couldn’t find it quickly, but you might look for it and see if your hometown pastors are involved. If you live in Oklahoma and don’t want your Republican Senator starring in this event, you should let him know.
He probably thinks it is a political freebie!
*** These are the nine federal refugee contractors that could not exist without federal funding.
Why is there no law restricting them from lobbying and otherwise putting on agitprop events while living off the federal dole?
The number in parenthesis is the percentage of their budget that is funded involuntarily by you, the taxpayer. Does Senator Lankford support politically active supposed religious ‘charities’ living off of all of us?
By sending a bipartisan letter like this (below) with the likes of Elizabeth Warren and Dick Durban (leader of the Senate Jihad Caucus!) as co-signers, Oklahoma Senator James Lankford signals that he wants more refugees for his state and at the same time shows complete ignorance about the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program—how it works and what its goals are—not to mention the fact that this letter with its hostile tone is a clear signal that these six do not support President Trump’s stated refugee reduction goals.
If any of these six Republicans is your Senator, you need to educate him or her quickly if there is still any hope of Trump’s campaign promises being fulfilled or the USRAP being reformed at all. With friends like these….
Senator James Lankford (R-OK)
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT)
Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ)
Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Here is what ‘Foreign Affairs’ says about the letter in an article entitled: “Senator Lankford Encourages Trump Administration to Support Assistance for Refugees and Victims of Genocide”
WASHINGTON, DC -Senator James Lankford (R-OK) sent a bipartisan letter to President Trump to inquire about the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), which has successfully resettled more than three million refugees from various parts of the world to American communities in all 50 states.
Specifically, the letter encouraged the administration to uphold USRAP as it enables the United States to fulfill key international commitments and assist those fleeing genocide and oppression.
[….]
Lankford was joined by Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Mike Lee (R-UT), Thomas Carper (D-DE), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Richard Durbin (D-IL), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Thom Tills (R-NC), Edward Markey (D-MA), Jeffrey Merkley (D-OR), Christopher Murphy (D-CT), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Ron Wyden (D-OR).
More here. Apparently those Republicans signing the letter do not know we are NOT saving the Syrian Christians from genocide. And, it is pretty shameful that Senator Lankford, a former Baptist leader in OK, doesn’t know that fact—we are NOT saving the Christians of Syria through this program!
According to Wrapsnet, in FY17 we have admitted 6,132 Syrians (that is since October 1, 2016 through today). Of that number 6,001 are Muslims (the vast majority Sunnis). That makes the Syrian flow to America right now 98% Muslim. So much for saving those facing genocide. Oh, there were a whopping 22 Yezidis in the arrival numbers.
By the way, letters like this one, meant to draw media attention, are usually generated by lobbyists working for the ‘refugee resettlement industry‘ (see myprevious post) which has many lobbyists working The Hill. A lobbyist, or several lobbyists, will write the letter and then find some willing Senate staffer who will persuade the boss to sign on (might not take much persuasion!). The lobbyists shop the letter around to Senate offices.
Our side (the pro-reform side!) on the UN/US RAP has no lobbyist dedicated to this issue working The Hill which is all the more reason that you, grassroots citizen activists, must call-out your Senators on this letter especially those of you in Oklahoma!
Here is the letter:
The Honorable Rex Tillerson
Secretary
U.S. Department of State
2201 C St NW
Washington, DC 20520
The Honorable John F. Kelly
Secretary
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
3801 Nebraska Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20530
Dear Secretaries Tillerson and Kelly,
We write regarding current administration of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), which has successfully resettled more than 3 million refugees from around the world to American communities in all 50 states. The USRAP is a critical pillar of our national foreign policy and enables the United States to fulfill key international commitments. Refugees come from the most vulnerable and persecuted populations around the world and are the most securely vetted travelers to the United States, spending an average of two years in the application process prior to approval.
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, we are in the midst of the largest refugee crisis in modern history. More than a year ago, on March 17, 2016, then-Secretary of State John Kerry formally designated the actions of ISIS as genocide. As part of that declaration he said: “[ISIS] is… responsible for crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing directed at these same groups and in some cases also against Sunni Muslims, Kurds, and other minorities… [ISIS] kills Christians because they are Christians; Yezidis because they are Yezidis; Shia because they are Shia. …naming these crimes is important. But what is essential is to stop them.” While the recognition and need to address these horrific crimes is important, we must not lose focus of the need to also protect others fleeing persecution around the world.
As you know, Executive Order 13769, issued on January 27, aimed to place a temporary 120-day halt on the USRAP and reduce the total refugee admissions for Fiscal Year 2017 from 110,000 to 50,000. This Executive Order was subsequently rescinded by Executive Order 13780, issued on March 6. Executive Order 13780 also aimed to place a similar halt and reduction on the USRAP. However, the U.S. District Court of Hawaii issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) on March 15 followed by a preliminary injunction on March 29, which currently prevents the implementation of portions of this Executive Order, including the entire section addressing the USRAP.
Given that there is currently no active provision from either of these Executive Orders affecting normal USRAP administration, we respectfully request a response to the following questions regarding the current status of USRAP operations, both domestically and internationally:
1. In light of the Hawaii District Court’s decision to block enforcement of the EO dated March 6th, does the Administration anticipate admitting refugees consistent with the previous Administration’s Presidential Determination for FY17 or will the Administration release a new Presidential Determination? How many refugees does the Administration anticipate admitting this Fiscal Year?
2. Is the U.S. continuing to conduct overseas interviews of both Priority-2 Direct Access applicants, including U.S.-affiliated Iraqis, and of applicants referred to the USRAP by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees? If so, how many individuals are currently going through this process and how long will this process take? If not, under what legal authority?
3. Given the genocide designation from the U.S. State Department, are survivors designated as a special humanitarian concern?
a. How many nationals and residents of Iraq or Syria who are members of a religious group subjected to genocide by ISIS and are at risk of forced migration have been admitted to the United States as refugees since March 17, 2016?
b. Under which mechanisms are these individuals able to apply and interview for admission to the United States as refugees?
c. Are survivors of genocide, crimes against humanity, or war crimes, eligible for Priority 2 processing under the refugee resettlement priority system? If not, why not?
i. If so, how many have been admitted since March 17, 2016?
4. During the seven weeks between the issuance of EO 13769 and the March 15 TRO, please describe any changes the Administration made to USRAP operations, including instructions given to all personnel responsible for carrying out USRAP duties in a way that continues to provide for the security of the American people while also maintaining the United States as a refuge for those fleeing persecution.
a. If changes were made, how will these changes continue to impact USRAP operations and capacity in the future?
b. If changes were made, what immediate effect have these changes already had on the USRAP’s overall resettlement capacity, including the impact on overseas Resettlement Support Centers and on domestic resettlement agencies?
c. What steps have you taken since the issuance of the TRO, including the rescission of relevant instructions to USRAP personnel, to restart the administration of the program?
5. We understand that there are DHS-approved refugees awaiting final medical clearances and travel bookings. What is the Administration’s timeframe for resettlement of these refugees?
a. How many cases within this group are cases of reunification with family members already in the United States?
b. How many cases within this group are genocide survivors?
6. In addition to these DHS-approved refugees, there are more in earlier stages of the screening process. Are agencies continuing the application and screening process for these refugees? If so, are there any new difficulties that would have the effect of slowing down the review process? If not, under what legal authority?
a. Of all refugees who have currently begun the resettlement process, how many are US-affiliated Iraqis?
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to your timely response.
And, once again we have the local CAIR chapter assuring us that Syrian Muslim refugees won’t be terrorists! However, the FBIDirector testified in Congress recently that the US cannot properly screen Syrian refugees. CAIR and the Catholics (and Jews) know better!
An Oklahoma congressman [they must mean Senator—ed] is urging the federal government to maintain “rigorous security vetting” of all refugees as it prepares to increase the number of displaced individuals allowed into the U.S in response to the Syrian refugee crisis.
U.S. Sen. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, said he, along with Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., sent a letter Wednesday to Secretary of State John Kerry and Jeh Johnson, Department of Homeland Security secretary, asking them to ensure that national security is not compromised in the refugee resettlement process.
In his letter and in a telephone interview with The Oklahoman, Lankford said he is concerned that the U.S. remain vigilant in rooting out Islamic State or ISIS terrorists seeking to enter America under the guise of refugees.
Just a reminder here that it does matter when you contact your Washington representatives:
In his interview, Lankford said some of his constituents have voiced concerns, particularly after reading news reports of ISIS terrorists killing Christians in the Middle East.
Catholic Charities, which is paid by the head to resettle refugees, assures Oklahomans that every one will be safe!
Richard Klinge, senior director of advocacy and legal services for Charities of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, called the State Department’s security process for refugees “robust” with “stringent guidelines.” [WTH is “robust”—ed]
Klinge said he is very familiar with the government’s security measures because Catholic Charities has had a large refugee resettlement program in Oklahoma for many years.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations echoes Catholic Charities in assuring us there will be no terrorists getting in! (Ditto the local Jews!)
Adam Soltani, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, shared similar sentiments, saying that the U.S. had done a good job of vetting displaced individuals seeking a new life in America.
Soltani did say that his one concern about the Oklahoma congressman’s letter to federal officials is that it is in keeping with stereotypes of Muslims and people coming from the Middle East. [Stereotypes? Gee I wonder why—ed]
Rabbi Vered Harris, spiritual leader of Temple B’nai Israel, recently urged members of her congregation to sign a petition asking the federal government to allow more refugees into the U.S. in response to the Syrian refugee crisis.
Friday, she said she trusts in the government’s procedures to ensure the safety of all Americans.
More here at NewsOK.
As we have reported previously on several occasions, across the country CAIR is weighing in on Syrian resettlement to the US which is only further confirmation that the vast majority of Syrians that the UN is choosing for us are Sunni Muslims. Surely CAIR isn’t advocating for the persecuted Christians. LOL! The big question is why are the Oklahoma Catholics and Jews pushing for more Muslims? Here CAIR goes to the White House to lobby for more Syrian Muslim refugee admissions. I don’t think they are hiding the Hijra any more!
Or at least he says he is Kenyan. We get a lot of “refugees” and other legalimmigrants who pass through Kenya, but are not really Kenyans. We don’t know how this one—Jacob Mugambi Muriithi—got here, but thought this needed to be posted.
3,972 supposed refugees came to us through Kenyathis fiscal year alone. Kenyans themselves are not considered eligible for refugee resettlement or asylum because their country is relatively stable (except of course if you are the Aunt and Uncle of President Obama!). Through what legal program did this Muslim get here?
In a bizarre coincidence, a fired Oklahoma City nursing home employee was arrested Friday after a co-worker reported he threatened to cut her head off.
Jacob Mugambi Muriithi, 30, is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a terrorism complaint. His bail is set at $1 million.
“We take these threats very seriously,” Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said.
The arrest came on the same day police in Moore revealed fired Vaughan Foods worker Alton Alexander Nolen beheaded a co-worker after he was fired Thursday. Nolen is a Muslim convert.
Muriithi was identified as a native of Kenyawho is living in Oklahoma City. He worked at Bellevue Nursing Home in northwest Oklahoma City, police reported.
The co-worker reported Muriithi threatened her while they were both working at the nursing home Sept. 19, a police detective wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit.
The woman was not identified.
She said Muriithi identified himself as a Muslim and said he “represented ISIS and that ISIS kills Christians,” the detective told a judge in the affidavit. The two had not worked together before.
If anyone finds out more about Muriithi’s immigration status, let us know!
By the way, we do take a lot of refugees with mental health issues as we have documented in our “health issues category.”
