Hey Obama! Those Minnesota Somali youths arrested for attempting to join ISIS were not without prospects for a good future

Everyone was asking yesterday, are we sure these are REFUGEES or the children of refugees resettled in Minnesota (or somewhere else in the US)?   Yes, we are 99% sure, but the mainstream media isn’t going to use the ‘R’ word unless they absolutely have to!

Most Somalis in the US are here through the Refugee Admissions Program of the US State Department.  A few entered illegally and a few are here under Temporary Protected Status, but the vast majority are refugees.

And, what frosts me and it should you as well, is that the Minneapolis Star Tribune describes them as young people who grew up in America with good educations and a chance to be something other than a Jihadist!

One of the alleged ISIS fighter-wannabes even thumbed his nose at the US when YOU and YOUR tax dollars paid for his upbringing!

Why are we wasting more of your tax dollars keeping them here?

I bet community organizer Mohamud Noor knows more than he is saying!

An eight-year federal investigation into terrorist recruiting yielded what authorities say is one of its biggest breakthroughs Monday, when six Somali-Americans from Minnesota were charged with planning to leave the United States and fight alongside Islamic extremist groups.  [Breakthrough?  It appears the only reason they got a break is that some other Somali youth got cold feet and snitched!—ed]

Two of the six were arrested by the FBI on Sunday in San Diego, where they intended to pick up passports and then cross into Mexico to board a flight to the Middle East, federal authorities said.  [By the way, way back in around 2009 we reported on these Somali youths/jihadists getting out of the US via San Diego (large Somali community there) and going out across the Mexican border—ed]

The other four were arrested Sunday by FBI agents at various locations across the Twin Cities.

All six were charged Monday with conspiracy to aid and support a terrorist organization, specifically the group calling itself the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Hey, ever think of the possibility that their paths crossed at a local mosque?

It’s not clear how the six men, who the Justice Department said range in age from 19 to 21, met or how well they knew each other, but it appears that their paths crossed again and again as they grew up in Minneapolis. After graduating from South High, Farah, Musse and Omar enrolled at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC). Farah and Musse majored in liberal arts; Omar was a pre-nursing student. Abdurahman, also a graduate of the Minneapolis Public Schools, enrolled at MCTC and studied computer support.   [Not poor and without prospects!—ed]

“I’m through with America.”  Guess what?  We are through with you too!

One of the men, in a conversation recorded by an FBI source, describes his disgust with living in the United States. “The American identity is dead. Even if I get caught, whatever, I’m through with America. Burn my ID,” he said, according to a transcript filed with the case.

Everyone needs to be paying attention to these supposed Somali community support groups.  

And, by the way, what are the legal non-profits this community organizer referred the budding jihadist to?

Mohamud Noor, executive director of the nonprofit Confederation of Somali Community in Minnesota, said one of the men came into his office seeking help earlier this year.

“He had been interviewed by the FBI, and he said he and his friends had been followed for some time,” Noor recalled, declining to say which of the men came in to see him.

The man was calm, Noor said, but said he was looking for legal representation and a better sense of what his rights might be. Noor referred him to a pair of nonprofits that provide free or low-cost legal assistance.

Maybe Noor should have been thinking about reporting the visit to the FBI instead of helping him fight for ‘his rights!”

Readers, let me know if you see any news report from the mainstream media that uses the word “refugee” in conjunction with those arrested.

And remember, we are admitting 800-900 new Somalis to the US EVERY MONTH.

News that is getting all too common…..Surprise! They wanted to join ISIS!

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Six people were arrested Sunday in connection with a terrorism investigation in Minnesota, where authorities have been tracking youths who have traveled or tried to travel to Syria to fight with militants, including the Islamic State group, authorities said.

A spokesman for the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office said the arrests were made in Minneapolis and San Diego but there is no threat to public safety. Spokesman Ben Petok did not give details about the charges. He said more information would be released Monday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI planned a news conference Monday to announce details. The news conference was billed in a press release as an announcement of a joint terrorism task force operation.

BTW, if I were in charge I would let them go and revoke their passports so they can never come back.  Now we will have to pay for their incarceration and a charade of rehabilitation (besides having raised them on the taxpayer’s dime).

Who is responsible in Minnesota for colonizing the state with shariah-loving Somalis?

These Somalis didn’t just “find their way” to Minnesota, they were “resettled” there by federal refugee resettlement contractors.

For new readers, check out this post:   US State Department and its resettlement contractors are responsible for the Somalis they delivered to over 60 towns in Minnesota (over 10,000 Somalis in the last ten years)!  That is in addition to the approximately 2,000 ‘secondary migrants’ (refugees placed elsewhere) who head to Minnesota each year.

In recent research, we learned that five of the nine major US resettlement contractors are operating in “welcoming” Minnesota.  Four are so-called ‘Christian charities.’

It sure doesn’t appear that we do!

This is a ‘comment worth noting’ we received from Julia, a regular reader of RRW, in the wake of the indictment of a Somali refugee on terror-related charges this past Thursday, here.

“Here’s another item to add to the list of reasons to not trust the Obama administration – be it on refugee resettlement, immigration reform, negotiations with Iran….

Civic engagement? Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud was naturalized in February 2014, yet had been writing terror-related facebook posts in 2013! So we gave him citizenship and a passport anyway!

It has been reported that the Ohio man from Somalia who was naturalized in February 2014 and was indicted on federal terrorism charges Thursday, April 16, 2015 applied for a passport a week after he obtained his U.S. citizenship.

Fox News has also reported that this guy made terrorism-related Facebook posts in 2013 and was communicating online with his brother over plans to travel to Syria to fight in September 2013 – well before he was naturalized.

Does the U.S vet who it naturalizes as citizens? Will the media, Congress, or the GOP presidential hopefuls ask this question?

Part of the Federal Strategic Action Plan on Immigrant & Refugee Integration released by the Task Force on New Americans on April 14, 2015 is to “Celebrate our Newest Citizens.” The Obama administration intends to do this by providing individuals who become naturalized a Welcome Packet at their Naturalization Oath Ceremony. The Welcome Packet will include “practical tips” on applying for a U.S. passport and registering to vote.

Vetting these “New Americans” does not appear to be addressed in the plan. What will Congress do to prevent terrorists from becoming U.S. citizens? Let them vote in the next election?”

Columbus, Ohio: Somali refugee indicted on charges he went to Syria to aid Jihadists

Ho hum!  Another of those Somalis we are still bringing into America as refugees at the rate of 800-900 a month has been indicted in Columbus, the city second only to Minneapolis as a city being colonized by a large population of Somali Muslim refugees (thanks to those ‘religious’ non-profits hired by the federal government to place them!).

This latest jihadist came here as a child and your tax dollars helped raise him!     (I’ll have more tomorrow, just wanted to get the news out while it’s hot!)

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man accused of going to Syria to be trained by a terrorist organization was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury.

Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud, an American citizen since February 2014, is accused of providing support to Jabhat al-Nusrah, an al-Qaida affailate in Syria.

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Mohamud, 23 obtained a passport, bought a one-way ticket to Greece and left in April 2014. However, he did not get on his connecting flight to Athens during a layover in Istanbul, Turkey.

Instead, he went to Syria and was trained at a camp to shoot weapons, break into houses, handle explosives and engage in hand-to-hand combat, the release says. A cleric in the organization then instructed him to return to the United States and to commit an act of terrorism. He returned in June.

It is insane that we continue to resettle Somalis, or anyone from the Middle East or Africa who comes from sharia-loving cultures.  Why are they our problem?

Let me be clear at the outset.  We do not condone vandalism or criminal activity of any sort, but this case does demonstrate that some are going to extreme means to try to halt the continued expansion of the Muslim population in America when elected officials in Washington aren’t listening.

As the UN and the US State Department continue to send refugees to rural areas (seed your communities), the tension will only increase.

The headline in the Portland Press Herald yesterday is: Anti-Muslim graffiti spray-painted on Portland Halaal Market:

Police label the incident a hate crime and seek the public’s help in identifying the perpetrator, a white male wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt who was caught on surveillance video defacing the building.

Portland Halal Market serves as a hub for the Somali community.

The Portland Halaal Market on St. John Street was spray-painted Sunday morning with graffiti offensive to Muslims, and police and the market’s owner are calling it a hate crime.

Police, who said the incident occurred at 5 a.m., were on the scene at 269 St. John St. later Sunday morning reviewing videotape from a security camera and talking to Mahdi Ahmed, owner of the market.

The graffiti, spray-painted in red capital letters on the windows and brick on the side of the building, referred to Allah and included a sexual epithet. Allah was misspelled as “Alah.”

“This is a hate crime,” Ahmed said.

The market opened in 2002 and serves the Somali community and others. It sells halal foods that are allowed under Islamic dietary guidelines.

The store also serves as a hub for the Somali community.

Jalali [a Muslim author at the Univ. of Southern Maine] estimated that the Muslim population in Maine is about 6,000. There are seven or eight mosques, he said, half of them in the Portland area.

“Long live the West”

Jalali said the last anti-Muslim incident in Portland that he could recall was in 2011. In that case, someone spray-painted “Go home,” “Long live the West” and other words on a wall at the Maine Muslim Community Center on Anderson Street, the city’s largest mosque.

One thing frustrated Mainers can do is to demand that no more refugees be resettled in the state.  You won’t be able to stop the influx of Somalis (or refugees generally) from other states, but you might be able to put a dent in the flow directly from Africa.

Stephen Letourneau is CEO of the $25 million a year operation—Catholic Charities of Maine—and is responsible for the refugee/asylum influx to Maine.

Don’t blame the refugees!

I wasn’t planning to get too deeply into this branch of Catholic Charities, but wow, check out their most recent Form 990 here, they had a revenue stream of over $25 million and more than half comes from taxpayers in some form or another (page 9).  They had over $9 million in “Medicaid fees” alone!  What the heck is that?
