Sweden trying to figure out how to integrate their Somalis, cite US success (no kidding!)

Before I post this latest wishful-thinking story, be sure to see Daniel Greenfield on the news about the Somali rapist and you might find one clue about why the Swedes are so clueless.  Judge: we can’t deport the rapist because he might harm a Somali woman if sent back to Somalia!  (Clue #1: Swedes are soft on crime!)

Report author Benny Carlsson visited Minneapolis in 2010

Now to today’s story (originally published in The Local a year ago). These crazy Swedes think if they had more Ethnic-oriented NGO’s (like our resettlement contractors and ACORN-like ethnic based groups) they could get the Somalis jobs and voila! the Somalis would be integrated into Swedish society.  They seem to not consider the possibility that in the world’s best Socialist cradle, maybe the Somalis don’t want to work (or to be integrated)!

Twelve paragraphs into the story published today at Voice of GOBIslam the truth comes out.  But, first here is the gist of the story:

Somali immigrants in Sweden have had a harder time finding employment compared to Somalis in the United States and Canada, a new report has found.

Roughly every other Somali immigrant in North America has a job, while only 20 percent of the Somali immigrants in Sweden have jobs, according to a report released on Monday by the government’s Commission on the Future (Framtidskommissionen).

The report, entitled “Somalis in the labour market – does Sweden have something to learn?” (Somalier på arbetsmarknaden – har Sverige något att lära?) and presented on Monday to Integration Minister Erik Ullenhag, was ordered by the government in order to provide proposals for improving the employment situation for Sweden’s rapidly-expanding Somali population.

The report finds that Somalis in the United States and Canada have had an easier time finding work in part because non-government groups with strong ties to the Somali community play a larger role in helping newly arrived immigrants look for work, find housing, and start companies.  [These supposed “non-government groups” are really quasi-government agencies as they are almost completely funded by the taxpayer, they just get to function outside of the normal checks and balances government agencies have to face—ed]

Clue #2:  Somalis are largely uneducated, so they are likely not to succeed at finding jobs!  And, the article mentions the language barrier as well.  For what job would one hire a Somali if communication was not possible?

According to the report, one of the reasons there are so many unemployed Somalis in Sweden is that roughly half have arrived in the last five years and 70 percent have low or unspecified levels of education.

But, here is the real answer (Clue #3, at paragraph 12):

Why work if you don’t have to!

Carlsson also cited Sweden’s social safety net which “lets people live at a decent level even if they don’t work, while the same can’t be said of the United States”.

The second part of that sentence won’t be true for long as the Obama Administration works all the angles to emulate Sweden and expand the social safety net in America with the help of those very same “non-government” groups the Swedes look to as a possible salvation for themselves!

St. Cloud meeting: Opportunity for all to ask questions

This is a simple notice in the St. Cloud Times that alerts citizens that there is an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how St. Cloud now ‘finds itself’ as a primary resettlement site for refugees.

Community Organizer Mohamoud Mohamed of SASSO helped make St. Cloud a primary resettlement site for Somalis. He was also involved in the Gold n’ Plump lawsuit.

When we first began writing RRW, St. Cloud was a city that secondary migrants (initially resettled somewhere else in the US) went to looking for meatpacker employment, but along the way the contractors and the US State Department began resettling refugees in St. Cloud directly from the third world.  See this 2010 post.

I know it’s difficult because when you ask questions (even polite questions!) the Lutherans and others will say you sound racist, but if you live in the area and can get there, it is important for citizens with concerns to not stay silent.   Make them answer questions that you have researched in advance so that you know basically what the answer is.  It is the best way to expose the veracity of their answers.***

From the St. Cloud Times:

Lutheran Social Service will discuss issues affecting the refugee community in St. Cloud in the first of a quarterly event.

The consultation is a chance for the agency to provide updates and to receive feedback regarding the refugee resettlement process.

Refugees, churches, local government, community agencies, schools, employers, landlords and anyone else who would like to attend are invited.

The event will take place from 1:30-3 p.m. Dec. 11 at the St. Cloud Public Library in downtown St. Cloud.

*** Now, if you plan to attend the meeting, go to our extensive archive on St. Cloud and read from our earliest post in May of 2008.  It is a wonderful history of how community organizers are reshaping St. Cloud (and Minnesota generally).

Learn about Mohamoud Mohamed at RRW and search for his activities on the net.  The photo is from this story.

Check out the news last week that Somalis want their own radio station in St. Cloud to broadcast to their people, here, in Somali!  Will Minnesota be the first Muslim state in America, some are making that prediction.

And, be sure to read about the money bags running Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota on the taxpayer dime!

UNHCR: 80,000 Somalis have returned to Somalia in 2013

Half a million expected to return home in three years!  Is it time now to stop the flow of Somali “refugees” into the West?  Sure sounds like it!

Another boat full of Somalis washes up in Italy over the weekend. UNHCR should pack them up and take them to their safe zones in Somalia! Get them to work fighting for and rebuilding Somalia!

The Kenyan government has threatened to close one of the largest refugee camps in the world, but so far the UN has persuaded the government (fearful of more terrorists in the camp) to let the migration back to Somalia happen voluntarily.

Here is the news from last week at Xinhua News (hat tip:  Joanne):

DADAAB, Kenya, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) — The UN refugee agency UNHCR on Monday said some Somali refugees living in the northern Kenyan camps are willing to return home once they get support.

UNHCR official Mans Nyberg said the Kenyan government did not order the closure of the Dadaab refugee camp as reported by media.

Some refugees had turned up to the UNHCR offices in Dadaab, the world’s largest refugee settlement, to seek more information on their return, the official said.

[….]

The UNHCR and the Kenyan and Somali governments on Nov. 10 signed an agreement on the repatriation of Somali refugees. Up to 80,000 Somali refugees have spontaneously returned to south- central Somalia since January.

Also, last week the UN has identified three priority safe areas for returnees where they will be supplied with the basics to rebuild their lives.

From Reuters:

NAIROBI (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – The United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) has identified three priority areas to which it will help Somali refugees return home from Kenya, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The UNHCR signed an agreement with the governments of both countries on Nov. 10, and half a million Somali refugees living in Kenya are expected to return home voluntarily over the next three years. The number of refugees from Somalia – 1.1 million – is the third highest in the world after Afghanistan and Syria.

[…..]

Mbilinyi [UNHCR rep in Kenya—ed] said the UNHCR can monitor the safety of returnees in these areas through partner non-governmental organisations working on the ground. Reception centres will be set up in the three cities, where returnees will receive food, household basics and other materials to help them rebuild their lives.

“Stability is coming back to Somalia. Most of the country is safe even though of course Shabaab are controlling some cities throughout Somalia,” Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya, Mohammed Ali Nur, told a news conference. “We believe that soon we will liberate the whole country.”

If all of the Somalis trying to find the cushy good life in the West went back to Somalia and worked hard they could easily expel al-Shabaab.

I’ll get in real trouble asking this question, but what makes some people willing to fight to improve their lot and others to become parasitic, is it inherited or learned behavior?

Sentencing to be set aside in Somali Christmas tree bomber case

Mohamed Osman Mohamud, then 19, is shown after his arrest on Nov. 26, 2010, in Portland, Ore. Mohamud was convicted of planning to detonate a bomb during a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony…..

Just when I thought I could take a break from Somali posts today,* here comes news from a few days ago (hat tip: Judy) that due to questions about the legality of NSA spying on private communications, the case of Mohamed Osman Mohamud, the 2010 Portland Oregon Christmas tree convicted bomber, could go into a legal black hole.

Mohamud, whose family came here as refugees, had hoped to blow up the tree and the families there for the tree-lighting ceremony.

From NPR:

The sentencing of a Somali-American man convicted of trying to bomb a holiday tree-lighting ceremony in Portland, Ore., in 2010 has been put on hold indefinitely. That move comes just days after the Justice Department notified his lawyers that part of the case against him had been “derived from” secret NSA electronic surveillance.

Both sides met Tuesday in the chambers of U.S. District Judge Garr King to discuss next steps. The judge later issued a public order delaying the sentencing of Mohamed Osman Mohamud, which had been scheduled to take place Dec. 18.

“If sentencing remains appropriate, the court will reset the sentencing hearing,” after it rules on motions from federal public defenders Stephen R. Sady and Lisa Hay, the judge’s order said.

The move could foreshadow months or even years of legal wrangling, if the case becomes a vehicle to challenge the constitutionality of once-secret NSA monitoring of overseas email and social media accounts.

Wasn’t this just the sort of Islamic terror case we should be unraveling with NSA surveillance?

Photo and portion of caption is also from NPR.

Sweden: Somali refugee rapes woman till she dies

This dreadful story is all over my alerts this morning.  The awful original story is in Swedish.  Since I wasn’t completely sure of this translation (below) at the Council of Conservative Citizens, I checked Fjordman’s tweets to see if the story is real and I see he tweeted it yesterday.

Sweden here we come!

Here is what the Council of Conservative Citizens says, and included is a film interview about the rape statistics in Sweden and Norway (be sure to watch it):

A 34 year old immigrant from Somalia was arrested for savagely attacking a woman in the parking garage of a Sheraton hotel in Sweden. The woman died while being raped. Police say the perpetrator continued to rape the woman’s corpse well after she had died.

The Somalian was apprehended by police while still in the act of raping the murdered woman.

Source (In Swedish)

Sweden and Norway are in the middle of a massive epidemic of violent rapes. Crime statistics show that rapes in both countries are overwhelmingly perpetrated by Muslim immigrants.

2013 figures were given in a recent report by Swedish Public Radio. In the first seven months of 2013, over 1,000 Swedish women reported being raped by Muslim immigrants. Over 300 of those were under the age of 15. The number of rapes is up 16% compared to 2012 numbers.

Humorous (sort of!) photo is from Bare Naked Islam about Somali migration to Sweden.
