US lacks intel to adequately screen Syrian refugees (no kidding!)

While I was distracted over the last two days (here), some of our readers were on top of the news.  Thanks to reader Joanne for spotting this story about why the Syrian refugee flow to America is only a trickle.  I am still puzzled why the UN and its “humanitarian” cheering squad are not squawking at Obama over the hold-up as they went absolutely nuts when George Bush did the same thing in his Presidency about Iraqis.

So, when Asst. Secretary of State Anne Richard went to Berlin recently and made promises, she jumped the gun?

By the way, the foolish German government says Germany will take 30,000 Syrians!  (can anyone say “death wish!”)

From Newsmax:

Michael Steinbach, assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

US authorities are facing a difficult task screening Syrian refugees for potential extremists because of a shortage of intelligence from the war-torn country, officials told lawmakers Wednesday.

Michael Steinbach, assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said the US government had data and intelligence to draw on when it performed background checks on refugees from Iraq in recent years but in the case of Syria, there was “a lack of information.”

“The difference is, in Iraq, we were there on the ground collecting, so we had databases to use,” Steinbach told the House Homeland Security Committee. [And they still let in the Kentucky Iraqi refugee terrorists!—ed]

“The concern is in Syria, the lack of our footprint on the ground in Syria, that the databases won’t have the information we need,” he said.

“You are talking about a country that is a failed state, that does not have any infrastructure so to speak, ” he said.

Washington has decided to let in more Syrians displaced by the civil war and announced plans in December to review about 9,000 refugee cases referred by the UN refugee agency.

US officials told AFP on Wednesday that nearly 11,000 cases referred by the UNHCR will be examined. [Once again an admission that the UN is picking our refugees!—ed]

[….]

Lawmakers at the hearing voiced dismay at the possibility that some of the male refugees heading to America could be potential jihadists.

The US was already working to stop foreign fighters from returning to America and admitting large numbers of refugees “would be a federally sanctioned welcome party, if you will, to potential terrorists in the United States,” said Michael McCaul, Republican chairman of the committee.

Such a move would be a “huge mistake,” he said.

Here is a thought to solve the problem and keep us safe—stop all Muslim migration to America starting with the large numbers of Muslim refugees we are resettling in 180 cities across the country!

Uruguay wants only women and children Syrian refugees; men are too violent

Update February 14th:  New president says they will re-think their earlier commitment to resettle Syrians, here.

Good for you Uruguay!  Only problem is that once the women and children get settled the ‘international humanitarian industrial complex’ will holler about how that policy is inhumane (and besides if they aren’t procreating how can they facilitate the Hijra).

President José Mujica greeting Syrian refugees last October. We are O.K. with Gitmo prisoners, but not those Syrian refugee men! Photo: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-29561681

From Breitbart:

The government of Uruguay received international acclaim for its decision last year to accept a high number of refugees from the Syrian Civil War, citing the need for countries across the world to participate in saving the lives of those attempting to escape. It is now reneging on its promise, at least in part: only women and children will be allowed to relocate to [they must mean from?—ed] Syria, with the government citing a need to quell domestic violence.

“Simply: in Uruguay, we are not willing to remain with our arms crossed if men hit women,” said President José Mujica, the architect of the project through which Uruguay would slowly begin to take in Syrian refugee families, to ease the strain on neighboring countries like Lebanon and Turkey, which have taken in millions of refugees in the past two years. According to Uruguayan newspaper El Observador, the government claims that the incidents of domestic violence in the new Syrian refugee community of Uruguay are simply too high to ignore.

There is more…..

Remember readers that it was President José Mujica who late last year “welcomed” Gitmo prisoners to resettle in his country.

Syrian refugees: UK beat down, but where is the beat down of Obama?

There is something really really strange going on!

Either the United Nations, Amnesty International or the myriad members of the NGO humanitarian gang can’t bring themselves (yet!) to criticize America’s first black President, or Obama has another surprise coming for our citizens already disgusted with his open door policy to migrants of every stripe.

(Despite letters from Members of Congress, here, Obama could at any time expand refugee resettlement of Syrians claiming an emergency! Is that the next shoe to drop?)

The largest resettlement country in the world—the US—is missing and not a peep in any of the news reports on Amnesty’s latest guilt-trip report.

Why is the US left out of any blasts (like this one) coming from groups such as Amnesty International, entitled:  UK offers just 90 places for Syrian refugees! Abject failure says Amnesty?

From Russia Today:

As Syrians continue to face the horrors of war and displacement, the UK government has failed in welcoming its “fair share” of Syrian refugees in urgent humanitarian need, a damning report warns.

The 24-page report, entitled ‘Hardship, Hope and Resettlement: Refugees from Syria tell their stories,’ was published by Amnesty International on Wednesday.

Germany is asking for further destabilization:

While Germany has set a positive example by resettling 30,000 refugees, other European states have failed to open their doors sufficiently, Amnesty warns.

Britain has offered a paltry 90 places, while Denmark and Spain have offered 140 and 130 respectively.

[….]

Over the next three years, the British government is expected to resettle several hundred Syrians in the UK.

This contrasts sharply with UN recommendations.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is urging governments worldwide to offer 130,000 resettlement places to Syrian refugees in the next 12 months alone.

Here is another report on the story which tells us something we already knew, but not a peep about the US.

The six Gulf Cooperation Council countries have offered no places to Syrian refugees since the onset of the conflict.

No complaints about the US here either.  However, lots of complaints against the Canadian government for saying it will take religious minorities over Muslims!  Those Islamic Caliphate expanders at the UN and in the international Left are fuming over that!  Canada is “discriminating” they say!

Numbers are out! through the first of February (4 months into fiscal year 2015)!

The US has admitted 249 Syrians this fiscal year (compared to thousands and thousands of Somalis and Iraqis). Homeland Security and the State Department are definitely foot-dragging, but why?

Congress questions Syrian refugee resettlement plan; Obama Administration appears to be back-peddling

Wow!  I missed this story while I was away.  It is from Newsweek last Thursday entitled:  ‘U.S. Congress Questions Plan to Admit Syrian Refugees.’

Less than two months ago, Asst. Sec. of State for PRM, Anne Richard, said that the US would be bringing in 10,000 Syrians THIS year, so what gives? The UN is going to be very very unhappy to hear the latest news! https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/12/23/asst-secretary-of-state-anne-richard-we-have-1000-1500-syrian-referrals-coming-in-a-month/

This is very big news because I haven’t heard a peep out of Congress on Muslim Somalis or Iraqis in more than five years, and so wonder why the Syrian Muslims are now drawing fire.  I think we may have turned a corner!  Was Paris the final straw?

The other amazing news in here is that the Administration is vigorously back-peddling from a promise made recently by the US State Department to admit 9,000-10,000 Syrians THIS FISCAL YEAR (we are already 4 months into FY2015 which began on Oct. 1, 2014).

We followed closely the beating George Bush took from reporters shilling for the ‘humanitarian industrial complex’ back in 2007 and into 2008 when the Bush Administration was nervous about security issues involving Iraqi refugees and now find it amusing that no one is beating on Obama about his Administration’s (fortunate-for-us!) foot-dragging on Syrians.

From Newsweek (hat tip: Joanne):

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Republican-led House Committee on Homeland Security is challenging an Obama administration plan to admit Syrian refugees to the United States, saying it could allow potential terrorists to sneak into the country.

In a letter sent to the White House, Michael McCaul, who chairs the Homeland Security Committee and Peter King and Candice Miller, who chair subcommittees, said the administration’s plan “raises serious national security concerns.”

The letter, dated Wednesday, said the United States lacks the resources to fully investigate the backgrounds of refugees from Syria, a base for Islamic State militants, before they are admitted to the country.

Anne Richard, an Assistant Secretary of State, said on Dec. 9 that the United States resettled nearly 70,000 refugees from nearly 70 countries in 2013 and that the administration’s refugee plans would lead to “resettling Syrians as well.”

Richard said the United States was already reviewing around 9,000 Syrian refugee cases referred by a United Nations agency and was receiving “roughly a thousand new ones each month.”

I would not trust this next paragraph. This could very well be a head-fake:

A State Department official said that the United States was likely to admit 1,000-2,000 Syrian refugees this government fiscal year and a few thousand more in Fiscal Year 2016. The official said that Syrian refugees applying for admission to the United States will “undergo additional screening specific to this population.”

LOL! We can be sure they are screening Muslims because there would be no reason to fear, and to vigorously screen, the Christian Syrians.

Remember folks!  The contractor cabal (led by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) is asking for 15,000 Syrians each year for five years!

More news about Syrian Muslims headed to Kentucky

While I slept, Pungentpeppers was busy reading the latest news…..

And, by the way, the last time we reported on Syrians headed to Kentucky, Nebraska and North Dakota it was our top post for three weeks running!

The US State Department’s man in charge of refugees coming to America, Laurence Bartlett: “The US will be a significant player” in the resettlement of Syrians and private resettlement agencies will determine where they go!

The State Department has been slow gearing up for the big Syrian push and in this article at The Courier-Journal they claim it’s due to the United Nations being slow to get them a list.

REMEMBER! it is the UN choosing who is coming to America.

They say we do intensive security screening, but logically that is impossible because who is going to supply records (what court records? what government documents?) when the whole region has been in turmoil for years.

Here is the latest from The Courier-Journal:

Twenty-one Syrian refugees will arrive in Louisville over the next two weeks, a figure expected to increase in Kentucky and beyond as the U.S. begins to take in an expanded number of refugees fleeing Syria’s bloody civil war.

The refugees, from four families who fled to Jordan and Egypt, are part of a larger U.S. resettlement effort expected to bring as many as 10,000 Syrians to cities throughout the nation over the next several years, according to the U.S. State Department.

[….]

The U.S. has accepted few Syrian refugees in recent years, sparking criticism that it was slow to respond. But Bartlett said the U.N. only recently has sought to resettle larger numbers. The State Department is now reviewing nearly 10,000 referrals from the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. By contrast, just 323 Syrians were resettled in the U.S. in 2014.

The U.N. is asking an array of nations to take in 100,000 refugees through 2016, Bartlett said, and the U.S. will be a “significant player.”

Although private resettlement agencies will determine where they go, last year some arrived in California, Illinois and Texas. Bartlett predicted resettlements would reach 1,000 to 2,000 through this fiscal year and would grow more quickly in the subsequent 12 months. While no ceiling on Syrians has been set, the U.S. has a cap of 70,000 total global refugees a year.

[….]

Kentucky, home to two Louisville resettlement affiliates, has taken in 6,428 refugees since 2011, including 1,113 from Iraq, according to the State Department figures. That has left the area with resources and interpreters that could make it a landing spot for Syrians, Koehlinger said, though exact numbers are unknown.

“We’ll probably have a significant number here in Louisville” by summer, said Darko Mihaylovich, director of Louisville’s Catholic Charities Refugee and Migration Services.

The Iraqi terrorists in the next section did have a “record,” at least one of them had fingerprints on an IED that killed American National Guardsmen in Iraq and no one had ever put the prints together with the fraudulent refugee application to America.

Advocates said the refugees from Syria bring added security concerns, in part because of fears of Islamic extremism among Islamic State followers and others.

In 2013, two Iraqi refugees living in Bowling Green, Ky., were sentenced on terrorism charges. They were arrested in 2011 after helping a confidential government informant load cash and weapons that they thought were bound for al-Qaida in Iraq into a tractor-trailer.

Read on, the article is full of information including the fact that a local Islamic Center is getting geared up to welcome the new Muslims.

By the way, Kentucky is a Wilson-Fish state and as such the program is run by contractors and the federal government (UN!) with no Kentucky state government say-so!

Senator Mitch McConnell has obviously not protected Kentucky for all of his time in the Senate.  Senator Rand Paul did speak up here in 2013 when he wanted to know why we needed to bring in all the Iraqis.  You may not like Senator Paul, but he may be the only one in a position to put the breaks on the Syrian resettlement for Kentucky and for America (if he wanted to!).

The UN is gearing up and so is the State Department so that by the time a new President enters office in January 2017 there will be no hope of stopping this train.

About the photo:  Do you see that map behind Bartlett? That is the map I referred to in my presentation in St. Louis this past weekend.  You can find it online by clicking here.  It depicts the 180 or so cities that have contractors working in them and that are being colonized. Any smaller town within a hundred miles is fair game.
