Governors impotent(?) as UN/US State Department speeds up the Syrian surge (Georgia this time)

Syrian Muslims aren’t just going to Atlanta, but to Savannah and Stone Mountain as well.
Here is the news from Savannah.  If you have ample taxpayer-funded housing, you will get Syrians (and Somalis and Iraqis etc).

Humanitarian workers [paid federal contractors!—ed] have resettled the first Syrian refugees in Savannah amid the deadly fighting in their native country as the Obama administration scrambles to bring at least 10,000 Syrian civil war sufferers to the U.S. by the end of September.

Emily Laney
Emily Laney (Lutheran federal contractor) says Georgia will get many Syrians this summer.

The five-member family’s arrival in Savannah follows resistance from more than half of the nation’s governors — including Gov. Nathan Deal — in the wake of the Nov. 13 terrorist massacre in Paris. Deal initially sought to block the resettlement of Syrians in Georgia, citing security concerns. He retreated in January after he received a legal opinion that said he had no legal power to stop them from coming.

Since the Syrian civil war began in 2011, 193 Syrians have been relocated to Georgia. All of them were resettled in the Atlanta area until last month, when Lutheran Services of Georgia relocated a young family to Savannah. They’d fled to Turkey in 2013, lived in a refugee camp, and underwent a security screening process before coming to the United States.

“Savannah has affordable housing, ample job opportunities at competitive pay and a welcoming community,” said Emily Laney, director of refugee and immigration services for Atlanta-based Lutheran Services of Georgia. “We expect to continue to resettle Syrian families in Atlanta and Savannah, along with the many other refugee groups we serve.”

kevin appleby new gig
Appleby was previously the chief Washington lobbyist for the USCCB and has obviously moved on to a new gig.

Readers this is about Obama’s legacy and whether he will be able to save face at the United Nations in September!

The Obama administration has a lot riding on reaching its goal this year, said Kevin Appleby, senior director of international migration policy for the New York City-based Center for Migration Studies. Failing, he said, would undermine the nation’s “credibility with allies and others who need to share the burden of resettling the Syrians. It is difficult for us to instruct the Europeans — or even nations in the region — to accept large numbers of refugees when we can’t even meet our own modest goals.”

They will be going to Stone Mountain too.

Here is an article which appears to be nearly the same as the one for Savannah, but it says Stone Mountain High School will be used as a processing center (I’ve never heard of that) and it quotes some angry Republican activists including this one:

Harold Warner, a DeKlab County Republican, said he expected the level of anger to rise as the November election draws near. “This will be the end of Stone Mountain as we know it,” he said.

See our large archive on Georgia by clicking here.  It has one of the original pockets of resistance feared by the feds. Georgians see ‘Refugee Resettlement Relief’ here.

Again! Every one of you with concerns must use the November election to make this issue a top priority for America’s future! This is it! If Obama gets hundreds of thousands more immigrants of all stripes in here in the next few months, and Hillary is elected, we are finished!

Hound every candidate at every level running for office this fall and ask them where they stand on Open Borders for America!
All other issues of concern can be fixed (Obamacare/common core etc), but not the demographic makeup of the country once the numbers become too great!

State Department says it will reach 10,000 Syrians goal by the end of September

CNS News reporter Patrick Goodenough is staying on top of the numbers coming out of the US State Department and has the latest count today.  Thanks to reader ‘heymister24’ for letting us know about the up-to-the-minute numbers.

(CNSNews.com) – The State Department is committed to meeting President Obama’s goal of admitting 10,000 Syrian refugees into the United States this fiscal year, and expects the numbers to “increase exponentially” over the summer, a spokesman said Tuesday.

With four months left in FY2016, the administration has admitted 3,566 Syrian refugees as of Tuesday – or 35.6 percent of the 10,000 target number.

Read it all and see their very informative graph which tells us that in the first 7 days of June:

Of the 761 admitted since the beginning of June, none are Christians. The 761 refugees comprise 759 Sunnis, and two other Muslims.

Remember readers that September 30th is not the end of it. All of those new resettlement sites we have been writing about (Reno, NV, Missoula, MT, Rutland, VT etc.), will get their Syrians next year.  Obama has one more shot at ‘determining’ who comes to the US and how many (for FY2017) just as he is leaving office and he has already said the numbers will be much greater than this year. Could a newly elected President in November, put a halt to the flow in January—YES! But, you can be sure Hillary won’t!

Last week's Islamic terror bust in Germany did involve refugees

How many times in recent months have you heard defenders of the refugee migration to Europe say that surely ISIS militants wouldn’t bother with the arduous trek from Syria through Turkey, then to Greece and northward to Germany to get its men into position for an Islamic terror attack?  Well, that is exactly what the Düsseldorf plotters did!
From Deutsche Welle:

Angela-Merkel-migrants-639762
Hillary says she will run America like Angela Merkel has run Germany! http://www.infowars.com/hillary-i-will-emulate-chancellor-merkel-as-president/ Photo: http://www.usapoliticstoday.com/another-angela-merkel-u-turn-refugees-must-all-leave-germany-once-isis-is-defeated/

A clearer picture began to emerge Thursday of the investigation leading to the arrest of three Syrian men who were allegedly planning to carry out a terrorist attack in the western German city of Düsseldorf.

The terror plot was uncovered because a fourth Syrian man, identified as Saleh A., voluntarily turned himself into authorities in Paris on February 1 and admitted to the plot, officials said.

No kidding!

The arrests are likely to spread concerns that Germany has become a likely target for Islamic militants in Europe, especially as the nation continues to grapple with a massive influx of refugees.

[….]

According to prosecutors Salah A., 25, and one of the three men arrested in Germany, 27-year-old Hamza C., joined IS in Syria in the spring of 2014 and received orders to carry out an attack in Düsseldorf.

The two men traveled to Turkey in May 2014, before continuing separately through Greece to Germany in March and July of last year.

Rutland, VT expert on mixed drinks weighs in on RRW and opposition to Syrian refugee resettlement

I had a good laugh last night when I spotted this piece on Rutland that is your classic Leftwing tactic to smear the critics (with the racist, Islamophobic label) and divide the local critics of the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program from the national movement (pockets of resistance***) by smearing yours truly and Jim Simpson at the Center for Security Policy.

Jim Sabataso
Rutland writer, guitarist, mixed-drink expert, Jim Sabataso says his “soul hurts” when he reads about criticism of the refugee admissions program of the UN/US State Department.

First here (at the Times Argus) is what the poor baby who felt he had to take a shower (after reading their facebook pages) says of the local groups in opposition to Syrian resettlement for Rutland:

This week, against my better judgment, I decided to wade into the muck to explore what those opposed to Syrian refugee resettlement in Rutland are saying on social media. I say muck, because, holy hell, my curious clicking took me to a dark, dark corner of the local Facebook community.

Opponents to resettlement have expressed consternation about being painted as uneducated bigots. While I understand the frustration of those who feel that they are being unfairly characterized as intolerant for their dissent — indeed, some folks have managed to express their opposition intelligently and eloquently — it’s hard not to draw that conclusion based on the rhetoric coming out of that camp.

Hosting extremist speakers such as James Simpson to discuss, as the Rutland Herald put it, “the coming plague of sex crimes, diseases such as latent tuberculosis and mosques led by radical imams preaching jihad,” makes it difficult not to paint the opposition as paranoid and dangerously misinformed. When the individual spearheading the effort to put the refugee issue to a city-wide vote suggests that Muslim lives are not as valuable as those of Christians, it’s hard not to dismiss the whole group as narrow-minded, Islamophobic bigots.

Besides Simpson, who the mayor calls the leader of a hate group and champion of “pockets of resistance” here, local musician, writer and self-proclaimed mixed drink (alcoholic beverage) expert Jim Sabataso weighs in on Refugee Resettlement Watch as a hate group leader having an unduly large influence on the local people suggesting that they don’t have intelligence of their own to sort through the facts and make judgments about what is good for their own community.

Refugee Resettlement Watch: Founded by Ann Corcoran, a major voice in the anti-refugee, anti-Muslim community. The blog is also monitored by the SPLC for its extremist content.

I love it actually!  For eight or so, of the nearly 9 years, I’ve been writing about this issue, I was looking forward to the day I would be “monitored” by the SPLC because if they were truly monitoring my work they might learn something. They might learn that refugees are exploited for cheap labor and that Chambers of Commerce want refugees to buy used cars and rent Section 8 housing.
Clearly young Jim Sabataso hasn’t read many of the 7,623 posts we have written or he wouldn’t be telling local concerned citizens to stay away from RRW.
All of the issues he mentions below have been reported at RRW for nearly 9 years.  These are the primary issues we report here every day!

So there you have it. Absent from these two groups is any substantial or grounded discussion of issues of government transparency, employment, housing, education, economic impacts or support for veterans and homeless Vermonters — issues, which those in opposition have said are at the root of their dissent. “We need to look out for our own first” has been a common rallying cry, but that talking point was nowhere to be found in my search. If those opposed to refugee resettlement in Rutland want to be taken seriously and not dismissed as ignorant bigots, they best reconsider the company they keep.

Here is what young Jim, writer/bartender/cocktail explorer (he plays guitar for money!), newly-minted expert on refugee resettlement, said on twitter a few days ago:

I just spent the last three hours reading through Rutland’s anti-refugee Facebook groups. I need a shower. Also, my soul hurts.

Continue reading here about what the sensitive soul, Jim, has to say about us.  Having read some of his other work, he does have a fear of “dark” places.  And, by the way, I probably have now read more of Jim’s work than he has of mine (yet he describes RRW as a hate group).
A couple of related nuggets:
Be sure to read the supposed news article from the Rutland Herald last week that reads like an op-ed and also mentions the haters and extremists at RRW and the Center for Security Policy.

The article scoffs at the notion that tuberculosis could come in with the refugees, but guess what?  It is already in Vermont as we learned here this morning from the media expert (Michael Patrick Leahy) on TB in refugee populations in the US.

Go here for our ‘Health issues’ category (300 posts) for all of the recent shocking news about ACTIVE TB in US refugees.
*** The ‘pockets of resistance’ label was originally used by the federal government to help create a propaganda campaign (the ORR actually hired a contractor to create the campaign) against any community that might question the placement of large numbers of refugees secretly in to their towns and cities. We first heard about it from federal officials in PA in 2013.  The three ‘pockets’ the feds named at that time were in New Hampshire, Tennessee and Georgia. Some of us liked the label and now there are dozens and dozens of ‘pockets of resistance’ that have grown up spontaneously throughout the US.  Welcome Rutland, VT!

No break for NH as feds approve just short of 500 new refugees for the state

We have a huge archive on the problems in Manchester, NH with refugee overload and the mayor’s efforts there to get the flow under control, please click here for dozens of posts on the city whose school system struggles with over 80 languages spoken within its student body.

Barbara Seebert
Barbara Seebart (left) made the announcement for the state of NH. Here we are told NH usually only gets about 200 refugees (huh?) a year and likely no Syrians. https://www.nhbar.org/publications/display-news-issue.asp?id=8085

The numbers for the new fiscal year (to begin on September 30th) were published here on Saturday.  Manchester, Concord and Nashua will be ‘welcoming’ a total of about 500 refugees selected by the UN and the US State Department.
Citizens concerned in those three cities should be demanding that your elected officials get a copy of the R & P Abstract (a planning document)*** that the resettlement contractors working in the state have produced.
The document (usually kept secret) should be made public, but I’ll bet the agencies have never even mentioned that document to the mayors and councils in the three cities.

According to figures provided by Seebart, the predominant countries of origin for the projected new arrivals for both Ascentria Community Services (formerly Lutheran Social Services) and the International Institute of New Hampshire (IINH) are Bhutan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Iraq. The proposed resettlement sites are Manchester, Concord and Nashua. [You will get Syrian Muslims in NH!—ed]

The International Institute of New Hampshire’s proposed caseload is for 225 individuals – 170 individuals or 25-35 families in Manchester, and 55 individuals or 10-15 families in Nashua.

Ascentria Community Service’s proposed caseload is 270 individuals: 135 individuals or 30-35 families in Concord, and 135 individuals or 30-35 families in Nashua.

When that photo was taken in 2015, someone got it wrong.  NH didn’t take 200 refugees in fiscal year 2015, but 446 according to the US State Department’s own data.
Checking that data just now I see that Manchester got 120 refugees from 9 different countries in FY2015, so for FY 2017 they will be upping that number by 50.   (Since we are still in about the middle of FY2016 I didn’t bother checking this year).
*** See Reno, Nevada’s R & P Abstract here to get an idea of what information this document contains.  Reno’s primary resettlement contractor, USCRI, is the same one operating through its subcontractor, the International Institute of NH, in New Hampshire.
