Get ready for Rohingya! Refugee flavor of the year…

Burma OIC
In 2013 the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (57 Muslim countries), which has a powerful UN presence, wanted to open an office in Burma to ‘aid’ the Rohingya. Here fearless Buddhist monks said ‘no way.’ Read those signs! https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2013/11/18/the-oic-does-not-need-an-office-in-burma-myanmar/

Maybe you haven’t noticed yet, but Syrian refugees are last years’ refugee poster children.

Now the media is moving on to the Rohingya (click here for what I think is the best pronunciation). Everywhere I turn there is media coverage of the Burmese Buddhist government attempting to limit the expansion and disruptive influence of its Muslim minority population.

I want to move on to other topics this morning, so I can’t possibly fill you in on ten years of posts I’ve written (203 so far) on the Rohingya problem.  Someone should write a book and I’ve done a lot of research for wannabe authors in my category called Rohingya Reports, here.

But, I want you to know this morning that the strife in Burma (aka Myanmar) with the Muslim Rohingya (fleeing to Bangladesh, a Muslim country) is being placed front and center at the UN just as President Trump speaks there today.

Here is Amnesty International taking its whack. Surprisingly, there is one little line in this article that you don’t usually see as most reports depict the Rohingya as pure as the driven snow.  And, of course, it is ALL Trump’s fault!

“The USA’s policy towards refugees has to be viewed in a global context. In the shadow of Trump’s cruel policies, other countries around the world have continued to dehumanize refugees and turn their backs on them,” said Salil Shetty.

Salil Shetty
Salil Shetty: “…Trump’s cruel policies…”

“Whether it’s the EU condemning refugees to abuse and exploitation at the hands of criminal gangs in Libya, or Australia subjecting refugees to severe physical and psychological damage in its offshore detention centers, rich countries have contributed substantially to the alarming deterioration of refugee rights.

“It is against this backdrop of governments’ callous treatment of people fleeing conflict and violence that the world’s fastest growing refugee crisis is unfolding before our eyes in Bangladesh.”

Bangladesh is a Muslim country and most Burmese believe the Rohingya are just a Bangladeshi ethnic group that illegally inserted itself in Burma decades ago.

Trump is getting an earful in New York this week, but he likely will never be told about the last few words in this paragraph….

World leaders gathering in New York for this year’s UN General Assembly are expected to discuss the spiraling situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, from where the long-persecuted Rohingya population have been forced to flee because of an unlawful and totally disproportionate military response to attacks by a Rohingya armed group.

Gotta give Amnesty a little credit, they are at least reporting that the Rohingya have been agitators of recent waves of violence.

You need to know! This is not about some far off Asian country!

We have admitted 19,110 Burmese Muslims to the US since FY07 (according to Wrapsnet).

One of the contractors welcoming the devout Rohingya to your towns and cities is the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. See my story, here, in 2013.

Samantha Power whines: don't cut UN funding!

Perhaps after Obama and Hillary, Samantha Power is next on my list of Leftists I will be happy to see leave the world stage.

We have written extensively about Ms. Power who along with Hillary and Susan Rice (I called them the three witches!) nagged Obama to overthrow Muammar Gaddafi which unleashed a new wave of African migration to Europe via the now failed state of Libya.

samantha-power-and-obama
Samantha Power and Obama share the same views of Israel and you can bet she was knee deep in getting the anti-Israel resolution through the Security Council.

Readers, if the US cuts our funding to the UN (I know it’s a long shot), but that one act could help ‘pause’ refugee admissions to America like nothing else (since the UN is now picking almost all of our refugees).
Unfortunately it looks like the Ted Cruz/Lindsey Graham effort to cut funding is tied only to the resolution on Israel.
From Breitbart Jerusalem:

(AFP) UNITED NATIONS, United States — US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power on Friday warned that cutting US funding to the United Nations would be “extremely detrimental” to American interests, one week before Donald Trump’s administration takes office.

Addressing her final news conference, Power told reporters that “countries like Russia and China” would benefit from Washington’s reduced standing at the United Nations if funding were withdrawn.

“We lead the world, in part, by leading at the UN,” said Power, who is stepping down next week after four years as President Barack Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations.

[….]

The Safeguard Israel Act of 2017 — introduced by Senate Republicans Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham — aims to push back against the UN by threatening to pull billions of dollars in funding.

See my Samantha Power archive here.
She began her White House career as the Iraqi refugee czar but was quoted in 2012 indicating her frustration with  “doing rinky-dink do-gooder stuff,” such as advocating on behalf of beleaguered Christians in Iraq.
She moved on to join the girls (the “humanitarian Vulcans”) in working to destabilize Libya and from there she climbed to her perch at the UN.
I shudder to think where she will turn up next!

UN organization distributes 10,000 more illegal migrants throughout Europe

Invasion of Europe news……
Update: See how a German teen outsmarts a would-be ‘refugee’ rapist. Sort of related to this story, but I had such a good laugh I wanted to share it right away. Click here.
We need to be paying more attention to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) which previously, although funded with government funds, was a separate organization from the United Nations. It became part of the UN just last year (see here).  The US funds a large chunk of IOM, but I have never seriously looked in to how much.

iom-asylum-seekers
This is IOM’s own photo—beware ‘robust’ young men carrying blue and white bags!

Here we learn that they are happy to spread 10,000 of the illegal aliens who arrived in Greece and Italy throughout Europe.  The largest numbers were moved to France, the Netherlands and Germany!

But they are not satisfied with 10,000, they hope to move another 106,000 in the next two years!

What is not clear is if those seeded throughout Europe have even had their asylum claims processed!
So, is it up to the receiving countries to accommodate them and determine if they are legitimate refugees?  If they aren’t legit refugees, then must that country try to deport them?

From an IOM news release today:

Belgium – Over 10,000 asylum seekers have now been relocated from Greece and Italy to other European Union (EU) member states through the EU relocation programme, according to IOM, which is facilitating the operation.

This week, 168 people left Greece for Estonia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway and Portugal. Another 81 people were relocated from Italy to Spain. This brings the total number of people relocated under the scheme to 10,189 since its launch in October 2015.

While IOM welcomes the 10,000 milestone and continuing efforts to relocate eligible asylum seekers, it acknowledges that this number is far too low and is calling for a robust push to meet the goals of the two-year programme – the provision of 106,000 places in other EU member states. [They love the word ‘robust,’ look for it in almost any warm and fuzzy story about refugees.—ed]

[….]

France (2,702), the Netherlands (1,216) and Germany (1,099) have received the most asylum seekers to date under the scheme.

[….]

As of 31 December 2016, Syrians comprised the majority of EU relocation beneficiaries (58 percent), followed by Eritreans (27 percent), Iraqis (12 percent) and other nationalities (3 percent).

[….]

Women accounted for 39 percent of those relocated…

I just love it when they think they are so clever by mentioning the number of women.  Does this mean that 61% are males? And, btw, dumb choice of photo for their press release!

Need your population replaced? The UN will be happy to assist

As the UN General Assembly continues to disrupt New York City, a reader sent us this old (over a decade old) press announcement from the United Nations alerting certain countries that their people were getting old and not having enough kids so it was time to start moving in the replacement population.   No mention here, of course, about the quality and character of the replacement people (replacement workers for big companies?).

UN: We are all here to help make it possible—to help you replace your old people with our poor people!

Readers, remember that the UN chooses most of our (US) refugee populations.  Yes, for some political reason from time to time, the US State Department uses the refugee program for some other foreign policy purpose, but the majority of those arriving now are ones the UN has identified.

Yesterday, we learned that they are already pretty far along with the US, here.

Replacement Migration:
Is It a Solution to Declining and Ageing Populations?

United Nations projections indicate that over the next 50 years, the populations of virtually all countries of Europe as well as Japan will face population decline and population ageing. The new challenges of declining and ageing populations will require comprehensive reassessments of many established policies and programmes, including those relating to international migration.

Focusing on these two striking and critical population trends, the report considers replacement migration for eight low-fertility countries (France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and United States) and two regions (Europe and the European Union). Replacement migration refers to the international migration that a country would need to offset population decline and population ageing resulting from low fertility and mortality rates.

So, of course, the UN is busy, out of genuine concern for us, replacing our population!

The UN even has a whole population division working on this “problem.”

Some nagging from me!

This story reminds me that we need more bloggers willing to focus, focus, focus on some aspect of our immigration problem (other issues too!), not bloggers in need of running their mouths on myriad topics to satisfy news junkies all day long.

Basically, my dream blogging force would be research bloggers who would every day (or several times a week) report the news on the topic and dig into documents, reports etc.  Someone could write a whole blog just on this “work” of the United Nations!  Real investigative journalists are rare these days, so some of you reading this right now must become citizen journalists if we are ever going to save this great country.

The more of us there are, the less likely they can shut us up!

Palestinians vs. other refugees

Michael Curtis in American Thinker shows how the Palestinian “refugees” are treated completely different from all other refugees in The Right of Return to Manhattan and Other Places and how absurd it is.   I don’t have time to write anything at length, but here are a few excerpts:

On why there were Palestinian refugees:

The problem started with Arab opposition to Jewish settlement in the area of Palestine even before the establishment of the State of Israel. As a result of the violent Arab Revolt of 1936-39, mainly led and orchestrated by the Arab High Command under Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, over ten per cent of the adult Palestinian population was killed, injured, or imprisoned. This Arab wave of terror directed against British personnel, Jews, and other Arabs opposed to the Mufti and his followers resulted in the first wave of refugees, perhaps as many as 40,000 Arabs who fled the area.

But the main refugee problem was caused by the militant Arab activity in the mid 1940s and then by the 1948-49 War that was initiated by the Arabs. The “catastrophe,” as the war is named by the Palestinians, was brought on by the invasion of Israel immediately after its establishment on May 14, 1948, by troops from Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and other Arab countries. As a result of the fighting, and for reasons that are still disputed, Palestinians fled their home in large numbers.

On the origin of the Palestinian refugee organization:

Oppressed Palestinians in Gaza. For more, see http://www.idfblog.com/2013/08/12/what-happened-to-the-humanitarian-crisis-in-gaza/

Before the end of the war, the United Nations General Assembly on November 19, 1948 passed Resolution 212 (III) to create the UN Relief for Palestinian Refugees (UNRPR). This body was replaced by decision of UNGA Resolution 302 (IV) on December 8, 1949, by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

About this UN concern for Palestinian refugees, two aspects are worth noting. One is the fact the UN ignored, and indeed still ignores, the reality that 700,000 Jews, probably a larger number than the actual number of Palestinian refugees, made exodus from the Arab lands in which their families had lived for centuries. The second is that this instance is the only time that the UN has set up an agency only for one group of people and that this unique agency has remained in existence for 64 years.

 Putting this in context:

The initiation of a Palestinian refugee relief agency was a remarkable and inexplicable departure from established relief activity. On December 14, 1950 the UNGA set up the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHRC), originally with a three-year mandate. Its function remains to coordinate international action to protect refugees and to resolve refugee problems worldwide. Since then it has helped more than 50 million people restart their lives. Among the various refugee populations it has assisted are the 4 million from Afghanistan, the 12 million ethnic Germans after World War II, the 5.5 million from Sudan, and the 15 million Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs after the 1947 Indian-Pakistani war.

Then contrasting the staff and budgets for the two agencies:

With a budget in 2012 of $3.59 billion the UNHRC has a staff of 7,600 in more than 125 countries. Currently, it is concerned with 33 million people. About 14.7 million are internally displaced; 10.5 million are refugees; 3.1 million are returnees; 3.5 million are stateless; 800,000 are asylum seekers; and 1.3 million considered to be in danger. To these figures must be added the millions now fleeing countries like Syria, Iraq, Mali, South Sudan, and Libya.

These figures make an extraordinary contrast with the existence and activity of UNRWA involved with much smaller numbers but with a much larger staff at its disposal. It employees 29,000 people, mostly Palestinians, and has 2 headquarters, 5 field offices, and representatives abroad, including in Washington, DC. A member of the latter group was Chris McGrath, former aide to Senator Harry Reid.

He concludes that UNRWA keeps up a welfare state for Palestinians, something which does them a great disservice.  The cause of the whole thing was an order to Arab states long ago not to take in any of the refugees so they could be used as an ongoing weapon against Israel.
