Editorial: New Zealand should take more refugees!

Resist! New Zealand resist!

New Zealand, mostly due to its location, has dodged the refugee/asylum-seeker bullet so far, but a movement is afoot to open New Zealand to the joys of diversity by increasing slowly (at first) the number of refugees it would accept from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Here is an editorial at the Otaga Daily Times.   Remember readers that the UN is not pressuring Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, or China to accept refugees—it is really only western countries that are being pressured into opening their borders to masses from the third world.

A cry is regularly made for New Zealand to increase its refugee quota. This country each year accepts approximately 750 through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

[….]

But, as a good global citizen, for our own respect and because of our leadership position as a member of the United Nations Security Council, New Zealand can do more.

Prime Minister John Key has been resisting any such push.

In this he might be close to the pulse and fears of many New Zealanders, whatever the majority of publicised views.

[….]

A rapid increase in numbers accepted could well undermine the goodwill and capacity of the community – volunteers do a lot of work with refugees – and leave many with insufficient support and set up to fail.

What could be achieved, however, is a careful and staged increase at first to, say, 1000 a year and then beyond.

To our New Zealand readers, you must say NO to this idea.  Tell them you will consider 1,000 when Saudi Arabia takes in (permanently!) 1,000 impoverished African Muslims!  Or, when the Chinese give shelter and citizenship to 1,000 Syrians!  (That won’t happen until hell freezes over!)
An afterthought!  For comparison, don’t forget that the US is being pressured into taking 65,000 Syrians before the end of 2016, in addition to the 70,000 refugee flow from around the world we normally get.

Surprise (not!): ISIS-related terrorists found among UN-chosen Syrian refugees destined for Norway

Just as we have been warning!

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is picking our refugees too!  And, here in Norway they have discovered Islamic terrorists among the chosen!

UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres, is selecting the Syrians for your towns. They are doing a lousy job for Norway, what about for us?

When House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul speculated a week or so ago that the Syrian flow to America could be a “jihadi pipeline,” he was right!  The 14 Senators of the ‘Jihad Caucus’ are willing to put you in danger when they demand that Obama admit 65,000!
From The Local (hat tip: Joanne):

Several refugees sent to Norway under the UN’s quota system turned out to have close links to the terror groups Islamic State (IS) and the al-Nusra Front, Norway’s Police Security Service (PST) has revealed.

According to the service, between five and ten of the 1,000 Syrians chosen to go to Norway by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), were discovered to have links to the one of the two terror groups.

“Unfortunately, there are some who try to exploit and abuse the refugee agency,” Police Superintendent Svein Erik Molstad told Norway’s Dagbladet newspaper. “We have discovered more quota refugees with ties to the al-Nusra front and IS,” he said.

Look at this! Norway sends its Security Service to the Middle East. Is that where the terrorists were discovered and intercepted?  Do we send the FBI to UN camps as well?

PST investigators have so far made two trips to the Middle East, where it works with Norway’s Foreign Ministry to vet refugees passed to Norway under the UN’s quota system.

According to Molstad, the investigations have also uncovered refugees with backgrounds in Syria’s feared secret police, as well as others suspected of carrying out war crime’s during the country’s ongoing civil war.

Although PST is now working in the Middle East, its officers neither interview nor have other direct contact with prospective refugees.

Dagbladet has also learned of Islamic extremists using refugee reception centres as recruiting grounds for terrorists.

Let’s do the math.  If the Norwegian secret service found 10 of 1000 UNHCR refugees with terror connections, that is 1% of the total.  If we admit 65,000, 1% is 650 (LOL! Check my math!).  650 with terror ties could sure cause a lot of mayhem here in America.
If you are new to RRW, our ‘Invasion of Europe’ series is here, and we have a pretty extensive archive on Norway as well, here.

Rohingya Muslims are definitely being brought to American towns

We’ve suspected that the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the US State Department are working to bring Rohingya boat people, who arrive illegally in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand to America, but yesterday we learned that 1,000 of them have come recently.

A Rohingya-packed boat adrift in Thai waters last week. The breakdown of borders is happening all over the world.

This is what we reported earlier in the week:

How many Burmese refugees are we taking?

The mostly Christian Burmese are one of the largest (if not the largest) ethnic group of refugees we have resettled since 2005 (I checked the data from January 2005 until May 1, 2015).

This is what I learned:  We resettled 140,812 Burmese refugees since 2005.

This surprised me:  In that number were 12,615 Burmese Muslims!  The word Rohingya is not used, but most certainly the Rohingya represent a large portion (if not all) of that number.

According to activists, the UN is not moving the Burmese Muslims out to third countries fast enough!  And, there are 45,000 of them registered with the UN and expecting to be moved to the West.

Here is what we just learned, from the Borneo Post:

ALOR SETAR: A Rohingya welfare body in Malaysia is pressuring the United Nations (UN) to expedite re-settlement of Rohingya refugees to third countries.

Rohingya Society in Malaysia (RSM) chairman Dr Abdul Hamid Musa Ali said as of today, about 2,000 of the tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees residing in the country had been successfully placed in several third countries.

He said the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) should play a role in safeguarding the welfare of Rohingya refugees in Malaysia.

“It is very disappointing as many questions are being raised on how just only 2,000 Rohingya refugees have been successfully relocated to third countries, from about 45,000 refugees registered with the UNHCR.

“This does not include the 60,000 to 70,000 Rohingya immigrants in Malaysia who are still not registered with the UN agency for refugees until now,” he told Bernama here today.

Abdul Hami, who is a Rohingya refugee and UNHCR card holder, said until today, just over 1,000 Rohingya refugees were re-settled in the United States, and the rest in several European countries.

There will be a regional summit on May 29th in Bangkok, Thailand in order to try to figure out what to do for the thousands of boat people arriving from Burma (Myanmar) and Bangladesh.  Be sure to watch the film clip here and see that one refugee says—THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A MUSLIM COUNTRY IN WHICH TO LIVE.  That is great!  There are many to choose from (including Indonesia, Malaysia and heh! how about Saudi Arabia?).
Get used to that ‘R’ word—Rohingya—listen to pronunciation here.
It appears that the PR push is on and that as we express our concerns about Syrian refugees arriving in the US in large numbers, the Rohingya are being quietly resettled here along with the thousands of Iraqi and Somali Muslims each year.
See our Rohingya Reports category here (it includes 177 posts and extends back almost 8 years).  Here is one post from 2008 where we said that as early as 2002, Time Magazine linked Rohingya refugees to Islamic terrorist groups.  You might be interested to see this post as well.  In 2012 a reader alerted us to the fact that the US State Department had removed from a terror watch list a group linked to Rohingya.
The next time you hear one of your friends or some dumb politician say that ‘LEGAL immigration is good,’ remember that this is legal!

To date, 843 Syrian refugees admitted to the US; 92% are Muslims

Editor’s note:  I have so much news to post, but internet connection is dropping today.  If I disappear, know that I am frustrated about not getting it to you or posting your comments! Or, answering your many e-mails.
Since everyone is talking about the number of Syrians admitted to the US as refugees (see yesterday’s comments by House Homeland Security Committee chairman), I thought it was time to update the numbers.

Most of our Syrians are coming from UN camps like this one which house primarily Muslim refugees. Photo: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/jul/30/syria-aleppo-fight-continues-live

When I search the data base for Syrians I go back to calendar year 2012 (1/1/2012) so as to include those who might have gotten here right after the recent conflict began in 2011 (thus numbers you see published may vary some depending on when the source began counting).
I reported on May 1 that we had admitted 815 Syrians (92% Muslim) from 1/1/2012 to 5/1/2015.
This time I searched up until May 20th and here are the results:
* 843 Syrian refugees have been sent to your towns and cities.
* 508 of those came since January 1, 2015
* The top ten states receiving Syrians are:

Texas (107)

California (107)

Illinois (91)

Arizona (64)

Pennsylvania (54)

Michigan (34)

North Carolina (34)

New Jersey (31)

Florida (30)

Indiana (29)

* Yesterday Rep. Michael McCaul speculated that not too many US communities would want them right now, however Texas, his home state tops the list.  Here are the cities in Texas which ‘welcomed’ Syrians:

Austin (4)

Dallas (31)

Ft. Worth (38)

Houston (34)

*One might assume that we were saving the Christian Syrians, but that isn’t happening.  Just as we reported earlier in the month, 92% of those we are bringing in are Muslims.  Here is the breakdown:

777 of them identify as one form of Muslim or another (729 are Sunni Muslims)

42 Christians are listed and 1 Catholic, several other religions or no religion are listed (for example, there is 1 Yazidi)

That works out to 92% Muslim!
By the way, if you are saying to yourself, heck, there are more Syrians in my town than this small number, remember that there are other legal avenues for entry.  Syrians already in the US were granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in 2012 by the Obama Administration and a reader recently shared with me that his US Senator says there are over 11,000 Syrians (who were already in the country when the conflict began) and are thus eligible for TPS.
By the way, it was our usual suspects, the US State Department resettlement contractors who lobbied, along with Arab groups, for the TPS designation.
Those same contractors want us to take 65,000 Syrians by the end of 2016 and the UNHCR has 11,000 picked out for us this year.

Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing on Syrian refugee security concerns postponed

Richard and Guterres
Asst. Sec. of State for PRM Anne Richard (left) and UNHCR Antonio Guterres want to send 11,000 Syrians to your towns and cities this year.

I am not surprised.

This is one of the hottest national security issues we have going right now—the question of whether we should be admitting the 11,000 Syrian refugees the UN has picked out for us without jeopardizing our safety!

A reader just sent us the postponement notice for a hearing we were anxious to see tomorrow. I’ve gotten pretty cynical, so wonder if someone got to the chairman?

Here is the announcement.

If you were planning on contacting your member of Congress on this, please still do so!

Breaking news:  Man arrested in Italy is believed to be responsible for the deadly Tunisian museum attack.  He got into Europe pretending to be a REFUGEE.
P.S. to the Michigan group I spoke with last night!  I have not forgotten!  I do plan to post the Michigan data, but have run out of time this morning!
