Pittsburgh working hard to “welcome” refugees

City leaders think the refugees will rejuvenate the city and bring economic prosperity.

Hey Pittsburgh, how about if you call up the City of Seattle before you get too excited by this “welcoming” propaganda. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/12/19/seattle-housing-crisis-pay-attention-refugee-welcoming-cities/

Frankly, I don’t get it, the only economic windfall (in my view) that will flow into Pittsburgh (a federal government “preferred” community) is the federal welfare dollars that follow the refugees—the special grants and special micro-loan deals etc.  It isn’t new money, it is just money recycled from the federal taxpayer.

I’m not an economist, but we better soon get some rigorous studies to counter the growing “welcoming” movement!

From National Public Radio:

Studies show immigrants start businesses at a higher rate than non-immigrants, and can raise home values when they move into neighborhoods.  [ but do the businesses close soon too?–ed]

Programs like Welcoming Pittsburgh [anything to do with ‘Welcoming America’?—ed] come as a reaction to failed immigration reform, but also because depopulated industrial cities see immigrants as an economic development tool, says Audrey Singer, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.

“A lot of these places are looking for two things: economic activity and population,” Singer says. “Immigrants and refugees are often looked at as a really dynamic group.”

Pittsburgh is just the latest Rust Belt city trying to boost the demographic — just 7 percent of the city’s residents were born outside the U.S., which is low for an urban area. About 40 other U.S. cities have similar programs, including Philadelphia; Chicago; St. Louis, Mo.; Columbus and Dayton, Ohio.

Do those “studies” report the costs of educating the kids, and the cost of low-income housing (Seattle!); taking care of their health needs; the costs to the criminal justice system?  I doubt it!

Then this:

Immigrants under-employed?  So what does that tell you?  There isn’t a booming economy as a result of immigrants, just more immigrants competing with Americans looking for work.

About 30,000 high-skilled immigrants are underemployed in Pennsylvania. In addition, some see Pittsburgh as parochial and not open to outsiders.

Welcoming Pittsburgh hopes to change that by opening government and coordinating various agencies’ efforts. Singer says it’s too soon to tell if it’s working in other cities, but what some call “deliberate welcoming” enhances the No. 1 thing city residents need: opportunities.

And, near the end, NPR mentions this about their ‘star’ of the story, a well-educated Iraqi refugee (Ammar Nsaif):

Nsaif currently works as a caregiver, earning $1,400 a month, plus SNAP benefits to purchase some groceries, for a family of five.

I’m guessing he is a “caregiver” in a state or federally financed home health care business (he could even be paid to take care of granny at home), he gets food stamps and supposedly supports a family of five on $1,400 a month—yeh right! He is adding to the economy of Pittsburgh?  At that salary he surely isn’t even paying taxes.

Where are our studies—just take Nsaif’s case and tell us how much he drains from the US economy!

Obama: Big smooch for immigrant community organizer David Lubell

While I was busy last week with that bigger project, this is one story I wanted to post and didn’t have time for.  I am playing catch-up!

David Lubell, head honcho of Welcoming America.

Remember Obama went to Nashville last week to give himself a pat on the back for the fact that he had “welcomed” a few million illegal aliens to stay in America.  While in Nashville he invited David Lubell of “Welcoming America” to join him on Air Force One.

Before I get to the news, remember that Lubell is a community organizer who receives funding from you, the US taxpayer, through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).

“Welcoming America,” a product of the Four Freedoms Fund (see history at their website) is working across the country to plant their open borders propaganda in your community. By the way, George Soros was one of the initial backers of the Four Freedoms Fund.

We first learned about Lubell’s gig, here, in June 2013 at a meeting in Lancaster, PA when the ORR announced that they had been hired to keep you in line—to tamp down any “pockets of resistance.”

Here is the news from The Tennessean:

David Lubell, who created the national nonprofit Welcoming America in Nashville, was recognized by President Barack Obama during his visit to Nashville on Tuesday for his role in supporting immigrants.

Obama smooch

Lubell is the founder and former director of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and built Welcoming Tennessee to build understanding between immigrants and U.S.-born residents. The project grew into Welcoming America, based outside Atlanta, and has since expanded to more than 40 cities nationwide, including Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, helping immigrants contribute to their local economies.

Obama met with Lubell on Air Force One as he visited Nashville to discuss his immigration policy. Speaking to a crowd at Casa Azafran, Obama acknowledged Lubell’s efforts in bringing immigrant communities together.

Lubell credits Nashville as being a catalyst for change nationally on immigration issues, pointing to its transformation from an area hostile to immigrants to one that embraces them.

Don’t believe it!

Nashville is still just as much a “pocket of resistance” today as it was in June 2013, when the ORR announced it had hired Lubell to get your minds right on immigration.  Be sure to see Lubell’s handiwork—Nashville school system a wreck!

Frankly, we need a countering force which sends out teams to help challenge (with facts!) Lubell’s propaganda and encourage citizens to keep asking questions about the impact of large numbers of needy refugees and illegal aliens on American communities.

The only problem is that our side doesn’t have any money, but their side does—it has your money!

Holy smokes! Indiana DEMOCRATIC Congressional candidate: No Syrian refugees for Indiana; take care of our people first!

I think we are seeing a major trend developing where it seems that Democrats are more willing to say NO! to refugees while some Republicans fear mentioning the word, or as in the case of Grover Norquist and his Republican pals are actually pushing for more refugees in America!

Democratic candidate Justin Kuhnle: Take care of our people first! Photo: http://teapartycheer.com/bios/midwest/indiana/justin-kuhnle-in-bio/

Just yesterday we posted the World Net Daily story about mayors across the country questioning refugee resettlement and most of the mayors with guts are Democrats also, go figure!

From the News-Sentinel reporting on a Congressional candidate debate for the 3rd District of Indiana:

In a follow-up question [about Syria—ed] Kuhnle was asked, given northeast Indiana’s welcome of refugees in the past, should we welcome Syrian refugees here as well.

Kuhnle, who has some background in social work gave a surprising answer for a Democratic candidate.

“I would be hard pressed to accept that.” he said, adding “When we look at the needs of what northern Indiana has it can’t continue that open door policy. We must look to the need of our own citizens first.

Kuhnle suggested it would be better to help them, in Syria.

This Congressional district in Indiana includes Ft. Wayne so that helps explain the answer.  We have an extensive archive on Ft. Wayne going back for seven years—the US State Department and its contractors have swamped the city with needy Burmese refugees.

Remember the 2010 spitting and urinating in the laundromat brouhaha.  People remember stuff like that!

What do you bet Kuhnle gets a visit from “Welcoming America” for a little mind-readjustment!

‘Welcoming America’ announces dirty dozen mayors who invite illegal alien children to their cities

There is a concerted PR campaign going on to get your minds right on the issue of flooding America with illegal and LEGAL migrants so that you will shut up about the rapidly changing demographic make-up of America.

Federal contractor and head honcho of ‘Welcoming America’ David Lubell (right) with the mayor of Atlanta (center). http://www.welcomingamerica.org/2014/09/19/a-historic-day-for-atlanta/

One of the leaders of the PR campaign is ‘Welcoming America.’  We first learned about the Office of Refugee Resettlement CONTRACTOR here in June of 2013 when we attended a refugee pow-wow in overloaded Lancaster, PA.

It was announced that this new hire was in response to “pockets of resistance” to more refugee resettlement popping up around the country. (They are running out of cities willing to be overloaded!)

Let me repeat, Welcoming America is being paid by US taxpayers (and George Soros! among others) to gin up a PR campaign to try to keep you quiet about the demographic change (and more Democrat voters!) they are bringing to your towns and cities.

Here are all of our posts on ‘Welcoming America.’ But, please especially read this one.

Now to the dirty dozen (of course they are not dirty to Welcoming America, that is what I am calling them!).

Surely this letter is timed to coincide with Obama’s decision to create a new refugee class from Central America.    After all, ‘Welcoming America’ is a federal contractor so it’s pretty easy to coordinate PR with your federal bosses.

From Latin Post (hat tip: Joanne):

A dozen U.S. mayors have agreed to support immigrant children from Central American seeking refuge.

Welcoming America, a nonprofit organization that promotes cooperation between foreign-born and U.S.-born Americans, released a letter signed by 12 mayors and a county executive promising to “compassionately support and welcome the young children from Central America seeking refuge in the U.S.”

“As we reflect back on the initial concerns raised around children fleeing violence, we see that our values have prevailed,” said Welcoming America Executive Director David Lubell. “These leaders are demonstrating that communities have responded with compassion, and can successfully help children in need, now and into the future.”

Blah, Blah, Blah…..

Go here for the whole letter.  Below is the dirty dozen plus Isiah Leggett County Executive of my old home county—Montgomery County, MD.

Cleveland Health and Human Services to be challenged this next year with more refugees

It looks like Cleveland, Ohio will join the Triad of North Carolina and get some of the thousands of Syrian refugees the UN has chosen for America.

Is it because Welcoming America came to town (to soften them up!)?

From Cleveland.com (Hat tip: ‘pungentpeppers’):

City Councilman Joe Cimperman: “Why can’t Cleveland be that welcoming place.”

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Lead poisoning, women’s reproductive health issues and the hardships of immigrant refugees top the priorities of Cleveland City Council’s Health and Human Services Committee this legislative session.

In an interview Wednesday, city councilman Joe Cimperman said that the committee he chairs is “both perspirational and aspirational,” and while it must oversee the function of the city’s Health Department, it must also set the agenda to meet the needs of Cleveland’s changing social landscape.

This year, Cimperman said, that means anticipating a flood of refugees from Iraq, Syria and other war-torn countries, helping them settle in their new environment and connecting them with healthcare and social services.

“In the next 24 months, we are going to feel the effects of the conflicts in Syria and Iraq for sure,” Cimperman said. “I’m sad that they’re forced to flee their countries, but why can’t Cleveland be that welcoming place?”

Cimperman said the city will hold a Refugee Summit and luncheon on Oct. 30 in the City Hall Rotunda, where city leaders will explore ways to attract and accommodate an immigrant population.

Readers in the Cleveland area should plan to attend the “Refugee Summit.”

There are three preferred communities in Ohio—Cleveland, Columbus and Akron.  To see who is running the refugee program for the federal government in Cleveland go here.
