Israeli liberal gets mugged, changes tune on illegal Africans flooding Israel

I love these ‘liberal-gets-mugged’ stories, don’t you!  The Israeli journalist changed his tune about protecting the economic migrants* when they invaded his town!

New readers, please see our ‘Israel and refugees’ category for all the latest on this controversy.

From Jameel Muqata writing at the Jewish Press:

Israel has been under attack by the onslaught of illegal immigrants from Africa and over the past few months there has been an unbearable rise of crime — brutal rapes and assaults of teenagers and women in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Netivot, Lod, Netanya, Eilat, Or Akiva, Bnei Brak, Kiryat Sefer, and more. These illegal job-seeking immigrants are being deemed as “refugees” by all sorts of “aid groups” in Israel, who vocally protest all government actions to evict these illegals — estimates ranging from 90,000 to 700,000. Many of the same “social justice” advocates who demand a better quality of life for Israel’s lower and middle class, are also demanding equal rights for these thousands of illegals as well.

These “activists” live in fiscal fantasyland.

Now here is the figurative ‘mugging’ part of the story:

Left leaning Israeli Journalist Guy Maroz slammed right-wing MKs in March 2010 for wanting to create “labor camps” for these illegal workers. He was among the most vocal activists demanding that Israel not deport the children of these illegal immigrants with their families.

Till it hit home for him.

Till he woke up and realized that the problem isn’t only in South Tel-Aviv or Eilat (which obviously aren’t his problem because he doesn’t live there)…and the illegals started flooding all of Israel, his hometown as well.

Read what Maroz said.

Muqata goes one to say:

Israel needs to quickly take decisive action to quash the illegal immigration from Africa.

This isn’t racism. This isn’t intolerance. This isn’t immoral.

This is self-preservation. This is the responsibility of survival of the Jewish State, for us, our children, and generations to come.

Some in Israel get it!

Yesterday a Kansas reader cheered when she sent this Reuters story from the same day (Monday) as the piece above.

Israel rounds up African migrants for deportation

* Legitimate refugees arrive in the first safe country and ask for asylum, in this case these people are simply moving on and shopping for a country in which they might find work and are thus termed “economic migrants.”   Most of the asylum seekers arriving on US borders are not legitimate refugees either—they generally have traveled through many safe South and Central American countries, or indeed Canada, where they would have been able to ask for asylum. They are really trying to get to the pot of gold—the US (or in the case of the Middle East—Israel).

Marylanders will vote on taxpayer subsidized college tuition for illegal immigrants

Although this involves illegal immigrants, I thought some readers here might be interested to know that citizens working hard can succeed against the Democrat Party leadership and the Open Borders immigrant lobbying groups such as CASA de Maryland.

Crossposted from Potomac Tea Party Report.

High Court decides in favor of citizens, against CASA and the Democrat Party leadership

Maryland citizens will now have an opportunity to vote on the controversial issue of whether taxpayers will have to subsidize the college educations of illegal aliens.

I told you just yesterday that Joseph Sandler, a DNC kingpin representing CASA de Maryland and indirectly Gov. Martin O’Malley-the-ambitious, had taken the issue all the way to Maryland’s highest court this week—-they lost!

From MD Petitions website here is the good news.

Less than 24 hours after hearing Casa de Maryland’s case attempting to stop Marylanders from being able to vote on a bill that would give in-state college tuition benefits to illegal aliens, Maryland’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, affirmed a lower court decision finding that Marylanders have the right to vote on the issue this November.

Chairman of, Delegate Neil Parrott* indicated that, “This is a great victory for all Maryland voters.  Volunteers across the state worked extremely hard last year for this referendum effort. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents realize that using tax money to pay college tuition costs for illegal aliens doesn’t make sense.” was very pleased to be represented throughout each step of the court proceedings by Judicial Watch with their attorney, Paul Orfanedes.  The decision confirms that the efforts for democracy will not be discarded based on a lawsuit from Casa de Maryland and illegal aliens who tried desperately not to allow Maryland voters to be able to vote on the issue.

Delegate Pat McDonough indicated that, “We have won the first half of the super bowl.  Now, in order to win the entire game, we need to be successful at the polls on November 6th, election day.”

When asked what he thinks would happen in the election this coming November, Delegate Neil Parrott indicated that, “The majority of Maryland voters understand on the face of it that Maryland is spending too much money as it is, and that it would not make sense to go against existing federal law to subsidize college tuition costs for illegal aliens who cannot even work in the country legally after they graduate.”

* Del. Parrott represents the district where I live and is the founder of the Hagerstown Tea Party.

For readers of RRW, you may recognize the name Joseph Sandler (the “silencer”) because he has represented Muslim organizations (CAIR!) and worked to silence Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch.   This is what I learned last summer about Sandler (among other things!):

~Joseph E. Sandler threatened an organization that Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch planned to speak to in order to silence him and keep him from discussing the Muslim advocacy group CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), here and here [Frontpage magazine story that isn’t opening at the moment–ed].   Here Spencer suggests Sandler isn’t much for free speech. (LOL! We are starting to come to the same conclusion!)
