Come on Mr. Dzubow, you can’t be serious! Change the definition of refugee? Build camps?

Jason Dzubow is an immigration lawyer and blogger—The Asylumist.  I read his blog from time to time and he is not a complete open borders NUT!  I especially like the fact that he talks so openly about asylum fraud. But here I suggest his idea of changing the definition of what constitutes a “refugee” (making it easier to enter and stay in the US for broad safety reasons) and then taking away the carrots (freedom to roam about and get social services) by keeping all of the illegals in refugee camps, to be off-the-charts crazy!

Immigration lawyer Dzubow sometimes has some really sensible things to say about asylum law—here he assumes that all sides want to solve the border crisis.

I, of course, would have no objection to creating refugee camps at the US southern border to hold law-breakers until we could make travel arrangements for their return home, but his idea of creating camps (with only the bare basic necessities) for all of the aliens getting in until they could be processed as successful asylum seekers (refugees) or sent home (terrorists and criminals presumably would be found out and sent home) a non-starter.

Why?

Because the Hard Left would have a major coronary and not one of the chickens in Washington would have the testicular fortitude to stand up against them.    Does Mr. Dzubow know what they do to the likes of Sheriff Arpaio for his camp-like jails and in his case his “campers” are definitely law breakers?

In fact, open-borders activist groups in Washington, like Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, have a campaign to do away with ALL detention for anyone getting into the US illegally, imagine what they would do if we set up camps like those in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa!

Should Dzubow’s proposal to change the definition of “refugee” pass Congress, without the stick (removing the pull factor) also passing Congress, it would be all over for America (but it probably is already).

Here is my simple plan:  Just completely militarize the border and send the thousands of “kids” home right now and that will end the “pull factor” pronto!

The Asylumist:

As our country struggles to respond to the influx, I wonder whether we need a new definition of “refugee.”

Under current U.S. law, if a person is physically present in the country and meets the legal definition of refugee, he will receive asylum. This is quite a nice benefit to receive. People who get asylum are able to remain here permanently. They can eventually become residents and later citizens. They can travel, work, and attend school. They can sponsor certain family members to join them in the United States. They are sometimes eligible for government assistance. These generous benefits are a “pull” factor because they encourage refugees to seek asylum here (as opposed to staying put or seeking asylum somewhere else). The benefits also create an incentive for people to file fraudulent asylum claims.

[….]

We could simply categorize as a “refugee” anyone who says that they are afraid to return home. In other words, if someone requests asylum in the United States, they would automatically be granted asylum. This sounds like a stupid plan, you say? Everyone and their brother would seek asylum here, including terrorists and criminals. Worse, it would put asylum lawyers out of business. Maybe so, but indulge me for a moment.

O.K. we will indulge, but after the carrot is granted, this stick won’t work!

The main question is how to deal with the likely increased demand under this new system? The easiest way to reduce the “pull” of asylum would be to reduce the benefits of asylum. Basic economic theory suggests that if it is easier to obtain asylum, more people will come here, but if the benefits are reduced, less people will come here [that part is exactly right!—ed]. So in order to offset the increased number of asylum seekers caused by reducing the barriers to asylum, we would need a corresponding reduction in benefits. How much of a reduction will provide this balance, I don’t know. But let’s say we reduce the benefits to the bare minimum: People who come here for asylum will be placed in a refugee camp indefinitely, they will receive only the supplies they need to survive, and they can leave only to return to their home country or to resettle in a third country.  [What third country would take them?  Every relatively affluent country is trying to reduce its own invaders! They aren’t going to take ours!—ed]

Read it all, it is worth it especially as he discusses the definition of refugee and how it is being misunderstood (is that on purpose?).

The problem with Mr. Dzubow’s plan (besides the obvious) is that he is making a fatal error in judgement.  He is trying to think of logical ways to solve the crisis while these people—the Obamas, the Soroses, the Munozes of  the no-borders pushers— are NOT trying to solve the crisis!  They want the borders gone altogether!

Compounding the problems with his logic is the FACT that our elected officials in DC, those who might like to find a solution, are apparently impotent against those forces working day and night to “change” America.

From Catalonia to Calais the Muslim invasion of Europe continues

Update August 14thHere comes the Ebola scare.

We have been so busy writing about the invasion of America that we have let news pile up about the mostly Muslim migrant invasion of Europe which is not being covered by the American dinosaur media.  Europe represents the ‘canary in a coal mine’ for western civilization.

While ISIS fights militarily for the Caliphate in Iraq and Syria, their Muslim brothers wage the demographic war in Europe.

Catalonia is a region of Spain seeking to break away from Spain.  From Breaking Israel News:

RRW geography lesson! Muslims want to reestablish their former enclave in Europe as Caliphate-building continues.

Muslim leaders in the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia say they have been promised a mega-mosque in Barcelona if they support independence from Spain in a referendum set for November 9.

Officials from the Catalonia’s ruling Convergence and Union Party (CiU) are seeking the ballots of all of the roughly 100,000 Muslims in the region who are eligible to vote. “If you support us in the referendum, there will be a mosque,” CiU officials are said to have promised Muslim leaders, according to Spanish media.

The mega-mosque in question is said to involve a 2.2 billion euro ($3 billion) project to convert a historic bullfighting stadium in Barcelona into the third-largest mosque in the world, after those in Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

The tentative plan calls for the Emir of Qatar to purchase the stadium, known as the La Monumental, and to cover all costs associated with converting the property into a mosque. The five-year project would be completed sometime around 2020.

The mosque would have an interior capacity for 40,000 worshippers and an exterior capacity for another 80,000. The mosque complex would include a Koranic study center, a library, a conference room and a museum of Islamic art and history.

The mosque would also include a research center on the history of Al Andalus, the Arabic name given to those parts of Spain, Portugal and France that were occupied by Muslim conquerors (also known as the Moors) from 711 to 1492.

Moreover, the mosque would be accompanied by a towering 300-meter (985-foot) minaret which, if approved, would dominate the Barcelona skyline. The proposed minaret would completely overshadow the spectacularly emblematic Sagrada Familia, a Roman Catholic cathedral that is situated less than one kilometer from the bullfighting arena. The spires of the church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are only 170 meters (560 feet) tall.

Catalonia is home to an estimated 465,000 Muslims, who account for more than 6% of the total Catalan population of 7.5 million. This gives Catalonia the largest Muslim population in Spain.

By way of comparison, if Catalonia were to achieve independence, it would emerge as the country with the third-largest Muslim population in Western Europe, in percentage terms, just behind France and Belgium, and far ahead of Britain and Germany.

Calais, France has been “taken hostage“:  Clashes continue between migrants trying to reach the UK (Shangri-La for migrants) and French police (hat tip: Cathy).  This AP story is from last week, but the riots are on-going:

PARIS (AP) — Migrants flowing into Europe in unprecedented numbers are causing a tense summer in France, as clashes break out among asylum-seekers in overcrowded camps and police fire tear gas to quell the chaos.

Sudanese and Eritreans battled in the heat in France’s port city of Calais, frustrations rising as the Africans jockey for space while trying to sneak into Britain – the dream destination some 30 kilometers (20 miles) away.

[….]

Most migrants in Calais start the European portion of their treacherous Mediterranean journeys in Italy, arriving on boats in the island of Lampedusa. Last year, total arrivals in Italy tallied 42,000 – which was already surpassed by spring. With the year far from over, over 60,000 migrants have arrived on Italian shores.

EU immigration law says that illegal aliens (would-be asylum seekers) are to be processed in the first country in which they arrive, but obviously many are heading north and there seems to be nothing EU authorities can do.  Read the whole story.

Italian Navy rescues another nearly 1,000 migrants this past week alone.  From Gazzetta del Sud:

Pozzallo, August 6 – As many as 958 illegal migrants arrived in the Sicilian port of Pozzallo Wednesday aboard a coast guard vessel as thousands of people trying to reach Europe from Africa were plucked from small craft in the Mediterranean by Italian Navy and merchant ships, port officials said. The arrival of the 958, including many women and children, aboard the ship Dattilo was the largest number of migrants to land at the small port in the province of Ragusa since Italy launched Operation Mare Nostrum aimed at preventing loss of life in Italian waters.

[….]

They represented a constellation of nationalities from Africa, the Middle East and Asia including Egyptians, Pakistani, Eritreans, Syrians and Somalis.

In Berlin, Germany a “crush” of refugees from News Round:

In July Berlin accepted 1047 new refugees. That is the highest monthly entrance for 15 years, explained health and Minister for Social Services Mario Czaja (CDU) on Wednesday. Besides in July approximately 900 further asylum seekers in the city arrived and for several days were cared for, before they further-traveled to other Federal states. In the first seven months approximately 5000 refugees came to Berlin, for the entire year count Czaja on an entrance of altogether 10,000 humans.

The refugee crush places the city before large challenges, said the senator. After the Königsteiner key, which regulates the distribution of asylum seekers on the Federal states, must take up Berlin five percent of all refugees, who place a request for asylum in Germany. The Federal Office for migration expects 200.000 applicants in this year.

And the beat goes on…..with no end in sight because no one seems to have the will to fight it!

[Alas, the canary is passed out, near death, on the floor of its cage.]

Time magazine reports on federal migrant resettlement contractors

It is a new day in America!  A major media outlet has dared mention the fact that quasi-government/quasi-religious agencies are reaping millions in government grants to care for “refugees” and the illegal alien children surging across our southern border.

[Editor: I realize that I can’t really refer to the contractors*** as refugee resettlement contractors anymore since they now resettle illegal aliens as well! I guess we will call them migrant resettlement contractors.]

And, by the way readers, resettlement (hooking them up with social services and health care, filing their citizenship paperwork etc.) is the job the contractors would have legally been paid to do for all migrants (the newly amnestied) through S.744 (the Gang of Eight amnesty bill) if it had made it to the President’s desk.  The contractors listed below all lobbied for S.744!

As regular readers of RRW, you know most of this about grant recipient big dogs—Baptist Child and Family Services and Southwest Key—as well as the smaller federal contractors (by comparison!) the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, but the average America getting news from the dinosaur media does not!  Until now!

Here is Time (emphasis mine) in a story from last week entitled: This Baptist Charity Is Being Paid Hundreds of Millions to Shelter Child Migrants.

Iowa Senator Charles Grassley wants to be sure taxpayer money is not being misused. Go for it Senator!

In the late afternoon of July 9, Air Force One touched down at Love Field in Dallas. President Barack Obama ducked into a private room at the airport for a discussion about the crisis of undocumented children crossing the southwest border. Assembled around a wooden table were top Texas officials, including Governor Rick Perry and Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, as well as the leaders of several faith-based charities. One of them was a man so anonymous, the White House pool report misspelled his name.

Kevin Dinnin is the CEO of a faith-based, nonprofit organization called BCFS, formerly known as Baptist Child and Family Services. This obscure charity has emerged as one of the biggest players in the federal government’s response to the influx of more than 57,000 unaccompanied children who have trudged across the southern border so far this year. It runs two of the largest facilities for temporarily housing immigrant children, as well as six permanent shelters in California and Texas. Since December, BCFS has received more than $280 million in federal grants to operate these shelters, according to government records. On July 7, two days before Dinnin met Obama in Dallas, the Department of Health and Human Services awarded BCFS $190,707,505 in a single grant.

Senator Grassley wants answers!

Senator Charles Grassley, the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, wrote a letter to HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell on July 17, requesting information about BCFS contracts to ensure that taxpayer money wasn’t being misused. “Despite being almost completely dependent on the public, BCFS has faced heavy criticism for attempting to avoid public scrutiny,” the Iowa Republican wrote. “This aversion to basic transparency is extremely disturbing.”

[….]

For BCFS executives, the work can be lucrative. According to federal tax records, Dinnin received nearly $450,000 in compensation in 2012. At least four other top officials earned more than $200,000. The median salary for the CEOs of nonprofit organizations like BCFS was about $285,000 in 2011, according to a 2013 survey by Charity Navigator.

Our old standbys, the Lutherans and Catholics get a mention:

The federal grant money for sheltering unaccompanied children, provided by HHS’s Administration for Children and Families, has so far totaled $671 million during the 2014 fiscal year. BCFS has received 40% of those funds, making it the largest recipient of money disbursed to contractors to temporarily house unaccompanied children until they can be reunited with family members or placed in foster care. Dozens of other organizations are involved in the effort, including Southwest Key Programs, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

And then get this!  They say that the reason for the secrecy is that they fear—you (“clusters” of armed citizens they say!) protesting.  What they really fear is that protests will wake up the American people and more will figure out how they are being scammed out of their tax dollars not to mention that they will come to understand the level to which we are being invaded by the third world!

The level of secrecy surrounding the facilities is unusual, says Neil Gordon, an investigator for the Washington-based Project on Government Oversight. But observers say it may be warranted. From Arizona to Michigan, clusters of citizens have held armed protests to oppose the relocation of undocumented children to facilities in their communities. “This situation is pretty unique in that they don’t want the mobs to come out and cause problems,” Gordon says. “That might be the reason they’re being so tight-lipped.”

Doesn’t that just tick you off!  “Observers say” (who the hell are the observers!).  Heck, I should start using that phrase!  I’ve got all sorts of “observers” with a lot to say!

There is much more, read it all and rejoice that the word is now reaching living rooms nationwide!

***The federal refugee resettlement contractors (I suspect grant recipient big dogs Baptist Child and Family Services and Southwest Key Programs  are now devouring all the federal cash):
