Knife-wielding attacker (who injured 9) in St. Cloud mall was a Somali

Update September 20th: Here is a story about his original resettlement, as a child, in Fargo, ND. It is a short drive from Fargo to St. Cloud (I drove it while on my RRW road trip this summer).
I guess as time goes  on we will hear if he came to the US as a refugee youngster and benefited from the generosity of US and state taxpayers or whether he is a relatively new refugee (the vast majority of the Somalis in the US came in through the Refugee Admissions Program).
Only a small fraction of the nearly 200,000 Somalis in the US now came in through other legal means (some came illegally across our southern border).
Remember what MN Governor Dayton said last year, don’t like our Somalis get out of Minnesota!

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis, a staunch defender of the burgeoning Somali community in St. Cloud, looked a bit distraught at the press conference today. Said stuff like this kept him up at night. Really? Or was it just last night?

It is simply pathetic that a couple of hours ago all of the officials arrayed in a lengthy St. Cloud press conference—the mayor (who has been a vocal advocate for the expanding Somali enclave there), the police, even the FBI couldn’t bring themselves to identify the dead perpetrator, but waited (did they wait on purpose?) to give the ‘Somali community’ time to spin the story.
He was a good boy, no violent past, a good student, a college student in St. Cloud. (Maybe even a security guard!) So what! He was first and foremost a Jihadist. And, Obama and his Lefty friends who chalk up ‘violent extremism’ to poverty and lack of opportunity can just shut up! This guy had prospects for a good future and he chose jihad for Allah instead.
Here is Michael Leahy at Breibart:

The Saint Cloud Times is reporting Dahir Adan, a member of the local Somali Community, was the man who attacked nine people at a local mall Saturday while shouting about “Allah.”

A short time earlier, St. Cloud Somali-American community members identified the deceased suspect as Dahir Adan.

Leaders of the Somali-American community in St. Cloud gathered Sunday with his family and issued a statement of sympathy for the family and the nine victims of the attack.

Community leader Abdul Kulane said as far as the family and community know, the suspect did not have any history of violence. He was known as a smart, accomplished student at Apollo High School. He was a junior at St. Cloud State University, Kulane said. Adan was also working part-time as a private security officer, leaders said.

At a press conference on Sunday, St. Cloud, Minnesota city officials refused to release the identity of the man who attacked nine people with a knife in a local mall Saturday night while shouting “Allah.” The attacker was killed by an off-duty police officer from a nearby city who happened to be in the mall at the time.

And then here Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit has more where we learn that he was originally from Fargo, ND (another major resettlement city not far from St. Cloud) from the Jihadists facebook page. Thank the Lutherans of Minnesota and North Dakota for changing America by changing its people.  (Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service is the major federal contractor with subcontractors in both those locations.)
By the way, I have been to St. Cloud twice and on my first visit in 2015, the St. Cloud Times thought it was a good idea to attempt to discredit what I say.

Don’t forget, Obama goes to the United Nations and holds his super-duper refugee summit on Tuesday to persuade America to take in even more Muslim refugees!

US contributing millions to help Mexico, Ethiopia and others become resettlement countries

Maybe it would simply help the world if we told Mexico and Ethiopia to keep their own people at home!
Or, LOL! Maybe Ethiopia can resettle the excess Mexicans flooding the US border, and Mexico will welcome Ethiopian refugees that we still take by the thousands!  (Only countries willing to help refugees were permitted to attend Obama’s summit so Mexico and Ethiopia’s participation strikes me as very funny.)

Obama’s UN team. The gang should all be there for Obama’s special robust refugee summit on Tuesday. That is UN Ambassador Samantha Power behind O. Learn more about her at our Power archive: https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/?s=Samantha+Power

One of the many taxpayer-funded goodies Obama will be talking about this week at the United Nations is our recent gift of $11 million to help launch the Emerging Resettlement Countries Joint Support Mechanism (ERCM). Presumably this new bureaucracy (one more UN agency) will be teaching other countries how to resettle refugees using our successful (ha! ha!) model.  Or, is it just one more way to redistribute American wealth?
Here is the press release from the State Department that made me laugh (chock full of their favorite lingo, robust and sustainable got two mentions each)! Emphasis below is mine:

The United States is pleased to announce a contribution of $11 million to the International Organization for Migration (IOM)*** and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support the Emerging Resettlement Countries Joint Support Mechanism (ERCM), a platform established to help countries create robust and sustainable refugee resettlement programs.

On September 20, 2016, leaders from Jordan, Mexico, Germany, Ethiopia, Sweden, and Canada, as well as UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, will join President Obama in hosting the Leaders’ Summit on Refugees on the margins of this year’s UN General Assembly high-level week. The Summit will bring together governments from around the world that have made new and significant pledges in 2016 to address the most urgent needs of refugees and facilitate long-term durable solutions. Among the goals of the Summit is to double the global number of refugees resettled or admitted legally to third countries. A significant number of countries have stepped forward to launch or expand refugee resettlement efforts [Ethiopia? Mexico?–ed]. It is vital to the success of these efforts that their programs address the legal, administrative, and social challenges that refugees can face.

The U.S. contribution to the ERCM, managed by UNHCR and IOM, will provide both resources and expertise to assist countries in establishing the legal, institutional, and community framework necessary to create robust and sustainable resettlement programs. The ERCM will focus on providing support to newly established resettlement programs and may potentially support other pathways such as family reunification programs, study opportunities, and issuance of humanitarian visas. The United States strongly urges other donors to join in supporting this important mechanism. With full funding, the ERCM could help as many as 10 countries resettle nearly 30,000 refugees over the next three years.

***Up until very recently the IOM was a separate NGO, but has recently been incorporated in to the United Nations.

Re-Migration! Phony refugees leaving Germany and going home!

Invasion of Europe news….

angela-merkel
Hmmm! Re-migration! Maybe that will save my political hide!

Frustrated with the bureaucracy and homesick for their own homes and the culture from which they came are two reasons given for scores of supposedly persecuted people heading back to the Middle East.
And, this story reminds me, and makes me wonder how many refugees being foisted on American towns at this very minute and finding themselves trapped in jobs at meatpacking plants paying low wages, are wishing they could go home too!

Re-migration!

I’m still pushing for one reform that Congress could easily make happen and that is to set up a repatriation fund to finance the airfare (and maybe a small bit of start-up money) to help unhappy immigrants leave America and go home! (Are leftwingers and Obama going to want to keep unhappy refugees here? Let’s call their bluff! Is it about humanitarianism or something else?)
But, I digress. Here is the news from Breitbart London:

Migrants in the German capital of Berlin are fed up of waiting for their asylum claim and an increasing number are simply heading back to where they came from.

The State Office for Refugee Affairs (LAF) in Berlin has announced that more and more migrants are choosing to voluntarily repatriate to their countries of origin. The reason for the surge in re-migration is down to the Berlin government’s notoriously long wait times when it comes to processing asylum claims.

The number of migrants leaving Berlin has increased over the last year by over 80 per cent Die Welt reports.

Of those returning, migrants from Iraq are the most common, making up 25 per cent Afghanis are second most common, at 20 per cent.

The origin of the migrants is very similar to those who have chosen to go on holiday back to their home countries at German tax payer expense, as revealed earlier this week. Both the willingness to return, either on holiday, or permanently, has led many to question what the migrants were fleeing in the first place when they came to Germany.

More here.  Some are even re-engaging the original people smugglers who brought them to Europe to get them home again.

St. Cloud terror attack at mall, 8 injured, but what's taking so long to identify dead jihadi?

Update:  Surprise! (not!). He is a Somali, here.
Update: ISIS says he is one of theirs. So they know who he is and we don’t (and it is nearly noon eastern). See ISIS taking credit here.
Sheesh, they know who this guy is, the one who went on a stabbing attack at a St. Cloud, Minnesota mall and was subsequently shot to death. So what takes them so long to announce to the public who the “man” is—a refugee or an American convert to Islam?
Did he act alone?
I’ve been searching and searching so at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning this is about all there is on what obviously was a terror attack (whatever else they want to call it).  By the way, we have written extensively on St. Cloud over the years and have visited the troubled city twice, most recently on my roadtrip to see towns and cities overloaded and troubled with large numbers of refugees.
From AP story:

People stand near the entrance on the north side of Crossroads Center mall between Macy's and Target as officials investigate a reported multiple stabbing incident, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, in St. Cloud, Minn. Police said multiple people were injured at the St. Cloud shopping mall on Saturday evening in an attack possibly involving both shooting and stabbing. The suspect is believed to be dead, St. Cloud Police Sgt. Jason Burke told the St. Cloud Times. (Dave Schwarz/St. Cloud Times via AP)

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — At least eight people were taken to a hospital with injuries after a stabbing attack at a Minnesota shopping mall that ended with the suspected attacker, who reportedly made references to Allah, shot dead by an off-duty police officer, authorities said.

St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson said during a news conference shortly after midnight that eight people were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following the attack first reported about 8:15 p.m. Saturday. One person was admitted. No further details were released.

Anderson said an off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction shot and killed the unidentified suspect. He did not say where that officer serves.

During the news conference, Anderson said the attacker who was armed with a knife reportedly made references to Allah during the attack and asked at least one person whether they were Muslim.

But Anderson declined to call the attacks an act of terrorism, saying the motive for the attacks isn’t known yet. “We will be diligent and get to the bottom of this,” Anderson said.

More when the attacker is identified.
I wonder did ISIS send out instructions and three of their followers were activated yesterday—in New Jersey, New York City and St. Cloud, MN.

South Dakota cutting back on refugees it takes (good news if there isn't a catch)

At a time when refugee offices are expanding nationwide and new offices are opening, South Dakota state coordinator Tim Jurgens tells the Argus Leader that SD is cutting back because it is “mindful of people opposed to welcoming refugees.” Wow!   Can we take this as a hopeful sign that someone is listening!
Argus Leader (hat tip: Elena):

South Dakota won’t participate in the White House’s next push to increase the number of refugees escaping poverty and violence.

mike-mayor
Aberdeen Mayor Mike Levsen couldn’t possibly be too thrilled to hear this news (unless they are shifting Huron’s numbers to Aberdeen). In April he was looking for more refugee labor as we reported in a post which went viral here this week. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2016/04/16/heads-up-aberdeen-south-dakota-new-resettlement-site-being-proposed/

The director of the lone resettlement program in South Dakota said it would not participate in the federal effort, citing the debate over immigration in the state.

“There’s people that fall on both sides of this particular issue,” said Tim Jurgens, director of Lutheran Social Service’s Center for New Americans.

Jurgens said the center won’t increase its numbers, in part because it wants to be mindful of people opposed to welcoming refugees.

“We try to visit with anybody, regardless of their opinion and try to inform them of the process and collect their input,” Jurgens said.

Meanwhile, the group has raised millions of dollars for a new space for its refugee services, and was awarded a $250,000 grant Thursday from the federal government to help immigrants prepare for citizenship.

Fewer refugees are finding a home in Sioux Falls and the rest of the state in recent years in spite of the federal government’s wishes. Lutheran Social Services plans to end a direct resettlement program in Huron at the end of the month.

I traveled to Aberdeen and Huron this summer and met some great people who are pretty unhappy about the influx of refugees in recent years mostly to work in meat packing plants there (remember, cheap labor is the major driver of refugee resettlement in America!).
