Mayor Bloomberg, super rich, pushing the meme that immigrants are responsible for large percentage of new American businesses

When you read a story like this one in the New Pittsburgh Courier (Hat tip from Tennessee), you know that something stinks.

It makes absolutely no sense that poor refugees and other immigrants are the driving force for the small business community.  The truth is that this is just political spin and new “entrepreneurial” immigrant businesses are heavily supported and funded with special loans and grants that are available to them (and not to Americans!) gratis the US taxpayer.

Diversity is strength, right? Togolese will bring ‘culturally appropriate’ day care facility to Pittsburgh. Well, at least they obviously aren’t Muslims! From Fotopedia

LOL! As my informant from Tennessee says, if the resettlement contractors and immigrant advocacy groups are so good at getting immigrants employed, why don’t they give Americans a little help?

Here is the story which of course in a back-handed way says Americans are just plain lazy, while immigrants work their butts off.   My first thought on reading this was, how many of those Mom & Pop convenience stores being busted for food stamp fraud are in the glowing stats?

The topic of immigration reform has been in the forefront of President Barack Obama’s agenda for several years. His goal is to fix what he calls the broken immigration system so that it can be “fairer for and help grow the middle class by ensuring everyone plays by the same rules.”  The President is requesting approval by the Senate and House of a comprehensive immigration overhaul measure for him to sign into law by years end.  To Rufus Idris, a native of Kogi State, Nigeria and executive director of the Christian Evangelistic Economic Development organization, the Immigration Bill is a wise move. [More immigrants=more government grants!—ed]

For the past nine years CEED has built a reputation for assisting and developing small businesses in the region. A large portion of those businesses have been established by the immigrant and refugee population. “Creating more businesses that strengthens our economy and create jobs for Americans is inevitable.

Idris indicated that businesses under five years old are responsible for all net job creation over the past three decades in America, and a critical driver of new business creation in America has been entrepreneurial immigrants. “Immigrants start small businesses in their quest to become economically self-sufficient and serve the consumer needs of the local and global community,” he said.

In his strong support of the Immigrant Bill he cited that the Partnership for a New American Economy found that immigrants are now more than twice as likely as the native-born to start a business and were responsible for more than one in every four (28 percent) U.S. businesses founded in 2011, significantly outpacing their share of the population (12.9 percent).

If these stats are even true (given their source!), could it be the government grants and government micro-loans are behind the “entrepreneurs?”  You betcha!  And, do we know the failure rate?

It’s for the women, don’t you know!

Partnership for a New Economy is made up of leftwing big city mayors and BIG business leaders with “Nanny” Bloomberg topping the list, thus tainting this whole story!  Marriott hotels (Bill Marriott Jr is a co-chair) wants to be sure their cheap laborers have daycare for the kids (funded by you, not them)—what is wrong with that?

I kid you not!  To give an example of the “entrepreneurial” spirit, the article goes on to discuss all the fabulous work the Pittsburgh area welfare agencies  and quasi non-profits are doing to develop a program to teach refugee and immigrant women how to set up their own CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE DAY CARE facilities—I told you about this Office of Refugee Resettlement federal grant program here in March in a post entitled,  “Come and get it—free government money…!”

So, how many of you think any assimilation is going on when Allegheny County, PA is encouraging separate day care businesses for its Somali, Liberian, Togolese, South Sudanese, Burmese and Bhutanese immigrant populations (at your expense!)?

Tsarnaev grant of asylum steams Bill O’Reilly

O’Reilly:  Why are we supporting questionable foreign folks?

(LOL! He doesn’t know the half of it!)

I’m an ‘occasional’ fan of O’Reilly, and happened to catch part of his show last night when he used Alan Colmes as a punching bag about the Boston Bomber family’s reported $100,000 dip into the pockets of American taxpayers.

If O’Reilly continues to investigate the refugee/asylum system, I will be his number one fan!

Mediaite has the story and the clip:

Bill O’Reilly kicked off his show tonight expressing outrage with the mother of Boston bombing suspects the Tsarnaev brothers for accusing the United States of a conspiracy to frame and kill her children, when her family has been taking more than $100,000 in welfare benefits for years. O’Reilly and Monica Crowley expressed outrage at the lack of welfare oversight, and when Alan Colmes challenged their claims, O’Reilly told Colmes to “shut up.”

O’Reilly called the mother “disgraceful” for her comments, and asked exactly why “we the people [are] supporting questionable foreign folks.” He wanted to know why President Obama and Governor Deval Patrick aren’t expressing outrage with the fact that the Tsarnaevs were getting welfare assistance, decrying the lack of outrage as “business as usual” for an immigration policy and a welfare system that turns a blind eye in situations like these.

Watch the 8 minute segment on Mediaite.

The Asylum question!

Why did we let them in and how persecuted could they have been if they were, and are, traveling back and forth?

Funny that the Mediaite report just focused on the welfare use, but to me O’Reilly’s outrage about their “vacations” to the land of persecution struck a cord.

Readers, we have seen it over and over again.  We give refuge to people who claim persecution and then we see them go ‘home’ for visits and to do business.  We have written at RRW about Bosnians going ‘home’ because they still own property, Mesketian Turks have houses to sell back ‘home’ and we can only speculate that they too must go back to Russia for occasional business, but the most outrageous are the Somalis.  (Muslims all!)

We are resettling Somalis by the hundreds each month RIGHT NOW, yet many we have fed, housed, clothed and educated go back for various reasons—primarily “business” or to visit the family. Who can afford a plane ticket to Africa?   But, we can’t forget that dozens of ‘youths’ went back to learn the fine art of Jihad, here in 2008!

Since the beginning of the 2013 fiscal year we have resettled 3,674 Somalis.  If that rate continues we will be bringing  nearly 9,000 Somalis to your cities this year, putting 2013 right up there with some of our top resettlement years (since 9/11!) for Somalis!

BTW, the family reunification program for Somalis recently re-opened after being closed for years because of widespread fraud—those getting in as ‘family’ were found (through random DNA testing) not to be related at all.  The State Department admitted that tens of thousands of Somalis are in the US illegally!

Yet, we have one report after another that the new government of Somalia is welcoming American Somalis HOME!

Don’t forget!

The Gang of Eight bill will make it easier for so-called asylum seekers and refugees to be admitted to the US because it makes whole groups of people eligible while under the present  system they are still supposed to prove they personally fear persecution!

Please Bill keep investigating!

Minneapolis: Intimidation and harassment charged in DFL caucus meeting

Here we go again!  Call it politics African Muslim style!

Shariah creep: Men sat on left, women on right in Caucus earlier this month in America! Photo: Jeff Wheeler – Star Tribune

Read this surprisingly frank ‘investigative’ report from the Minneapolis Star Tribune on the latest city political caucus in a precinct now heavily Somali-populated.   We reported on an earlier caucus meeting here ten days ago. Is the Star Tribune beginning to see the light?    Hat tip: Randy

Star Tribune:

Hundreds of East African immigrants cheered and waved when Minneapolis City Council candidate Abdi Warsame took the microphone last week at a DFL caucus across from Riverside Plaza. Shoppers congratulated him as he walked through a Somali mall a few days later, past the bright scarves and carpets for sale.

On the surface, it is a happy tale: the city’s Somalis, denied democracy in their homeland, uniting to elect one of their own to the council.

But the Sixth Ward’s two other campaigns tell a darker story of political hardball, and have filed challenges to the caucuses after complaining to DFL leaders that Warsame’s supporters harassed and intimidated attendees.

Meeting broke for Muslim prayers and most discussion was in Somali—and you think there is no Shariah law creeping into America?

Caucuses described as chaotic

In interviews by the Star Tribune with the other candidates and seven other caucus attendees, a picture emerged of caucuses marked by chaos and confusion, with some men wearing Warsame buttons purposely or inadvertently intimidating and excluding those from other campaigns. Caucuses broke for Muslim prayer at 8 p.m. — which the DFL had approved ahead of time — prompting some participants who were not Muslim to leave because of the delays. Much of the business was carried out in Somali, which some caucusgoers did not understand.

Read it all!

This reminded me of an old post from way back on September 12th, 2008 where we published a detailed discussion written by a reader (Avi) who described the “quiet Jihad” going on in Minnesota.

Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis?  That is the title of one of our top posts almost every day since I first wrote it on January 21, 2011.  Thank the US State Department and three of the nine major federal contractors—Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities (USCCB) and World Relief.

You have one chance this year to tell the State Department what should happen with refugee resettlement in FY2014, please read this and do it!

Catholic Ireland welcomes Muslims

Update May 14th:  More sharia creep in Ireland, here.

Or, so we are told by the media.  For a quick departure from the news-rich Boston refugee terrorist story, here’s an article making the rounds over the last few days—republished here at CathNews New Zealand:

They even have their own magazine! Cool huh?

Muslim immigrants are finding a much more welcoming atmosphere in traditionally Catholic Ireland than in Europe or America, according to an article in The Atlantic magazine.

Muslims make up just 1.1 per cent of the 4.5 million people in Ireland, but their ranks are swelling due to immigration, births and, in some cases, conversion.

The 2011 census recorded 49,204 Muslims, nearly a quarter of them school-aged children, but the number is projected to reach 125,000 by 2030.

Read it all.

However, not everything is so peachy as the Irish Refugee Council just yesterday blasted the government for keeping ‘asylum seekers’ in temporary “institutionalized accommodation.”  (Watch the film!).   In the US we let most asylum seekers join their family members already here and they live among us.   Come to think of it, maybe Ireland has a better idea?

THE State could be left apologising for another national scandal if asylum seekers are kept institutionalised, it was claimed.

Retired Supreme Court judge Catherine McGuinness also warned Justice Minister Alan Shatter “could be chased through the courts” if the youngsters of immigrants are not treated as equals in line with the children’s referendum.

Up to 300 people marched through Dublin to his department as part of a national day of action to end Direct Provision, the hostel-style accommodation for asylum seekers.

Ms McGuinesss said the institutionalised accommodation was created as a “panic reaction” to the large number of asylum seekers who arrived in Ireland during the boom and has been allowed to drag on with no outside observation.

So-called “asylum seekers who arrived during the boom” were most likely ECONOMIC MIGRANTS and not true REFUGEES SEEKING PROTECTION.

See our entire archive on Ireland, here, and you will see there have been many problems with the mostly Muslim migrants going to Ireland.  They even took Rohingya Muslims!  Poor Ireland they thought their Catholic/Protestant “troubles” were bad.

Mark Steyn was right—America will be alone.

No patriotic assimilation! Instead taxpayer-funded Balkanization

In the wake of Boston, author/investigator Stanley Kurtz , writing at NRO, said that the Boston terrorist attack brought to the light of day the great failing of the once successful assimilation of our immigrant population—the loss of that all important anchor of patriotic assimilation.

The mainstream press is filled with stories and opinion pieces about the connection between the Boston bombings and the immigration reform bill. The point in common is a near-total failure to grapple with the weightiest Boston-related argument critics of the bill have offered – that the terror attack is an extreme symptom of a far broader problem, the breakdown of our system of patriotic assimilation.

Read it all.

Kurtz and John O’Sullivan, also at NRO, wrote late last week about a new study by the venerable Hudson Institute:

…  John Fonte and Althea Nagai (“America’s Patriotic Assimilation System is Broken“)

Here is O’Sullivan:

We know very little of the marathon bombers and their motives thus far, but what we know points to some very obvious points. Some of these points are so obvious, moreover, that commentators and politicians are already saying that we shouldn’t even consider them.

The first point that strikes me is that these young men should have had every reason to be happy in the United States and grateful to the country for its giving them sanctuary.

[….]

In that case — and I suspect we shall find also in the case of the marathon bombers — the explanation was (or included the fact) that they had been assimilated into a nullity.

Myth explodes!

Referring to Britain’s Subway bombers raised in the UK in upstanding families, O’Sullivan continues.

They had therefore looked around for a heroic cause they could identify with. The radical Islamists provided them with the cause of radical Islamism — and they embarked on the relatively short road to mass murder.

When that happened, several British commentators argued that this wouldn’t happen in America because America, with its public and private ceremonies of Americanization, had solved the conundrum of how to turn immigrants into loyal and patriotic Americans.

Alas, I had to tell them sadly that they were a generation behind the times. America now bore all the marks of a society that had been subjected to several decades of relentless indoctrination in the dogmas of multiculturalism and bilingualism. And the results are now in.

[….]

Into this moral and patriotic vacuum seeps what Orwell called “transferred nationalism.” In his day this was usually some variety of Marxism; today it often often a variation on radical Islam. But it is adopted and sparks violent thoughts in the minds of young men whom official America has shielded from the old Americanization.

Getting patriotic assimilation right is as vital — perhaps more vital — than getting border security right. It is an essential part of any comprehensive immigration reform worth the name. To propose opening the country to millions of new immigrants until we have solved this problem is simply to invite more violence from more young men whom we have disoriented and left victim to the worse impulses.

It is worse than Kurtz and O’Sullivan know!

Not only are we not encouraging assimilation of ethnic groups being admitted under the legal framework of the Refugee Resettlement Act of 1980, we are in fact ENCOURAGING BALKANIZATION through grant programs for Ethnic Community Based Organizations administered by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

You tell me!  If we are giving federal grants to groups like these, are we encouraging separation and notions of ethnic superiority—-you betcha!   Consider these ethnic-centered groups which received grants in 2009 as mini-ACORNS.  Fostering competition, they help THEIR people get hooked up with social services and teach them how to stand up for the “rights” of THEIR people.

Yikes!  It gets worse, here is an up-to-date list of Ethnic groups (now called Ethnic self-help groups!) getting your money and fostering separation and nationalism (theirs!).  Readers if these cities needed an organization to teach immigrants English (how about local junior colleges for this?) and how to access stuff (taxpayer goodies)—why isn’t the government funding one multicultural organization where all the disparate groups come together (get instruction on how to get food stamps, health care, education) and are taught American civic responsibility, history and patriotism?

In addition to the usual African and Asian groups listed above, this latest list funds Ethnic groups including those for Iraqis, Karen (Burmese), Bhutanese, Ukrainian, Ethiopian, Haitian, other Burmese, and Chaldean.
