Sweden update: We don’t want to live with “bad spirits”…

….get us out of here!

Just this past Sunday we reported that a mansion in rural Glava, Sweden had been purchased to house African refugees.  Now, according to Tundra Tabloids the new residents are protesting their living conditions.  They say there are “bad spirits” in the historic building.

I suspect their problem largely involves not wanting to live way out in the boonies!

ASYLUM DISTRESS: Those living at Glava asylum castle, Arvika, demonstrated monday against their living conditions. Apparently, they are used to a better standard from their MENA home countries than what this castle environment, surrounded by a beautiful nature, can offer.

It is not totally clear what they concretely are more displeased with, but starting from the hand-witten cardboard pieces displayed by the demonstrators, we can conclude that the issue is that the castle ghost does not like the new guests. On one of the signs it says that they cannot sleep at night, and on another (see image above), we can read as follows: ‘In this hotel is the presence of a bad spirit!!!

Hey, Sweden, good luck with that!

Refugees are captive and cheap labor for large corporations

How many times over the years have we reported this hard truth—refugees are being used.

Here is the latest story from The Oregonian about the difficult lives led by African refugees resettled in Boise, Idaho by the International Rescue Committee (one of the top nine federal refugee contractors)  (Hat tip: Friends of Refugees)

What would mega-corporations do if the refugees weren’t here and desperate?  They would have to pay a decent wage to Americans and maintain decent work conditions.  So, I suppose one could say that the IRC and Grover Norquist (say what!) are working hand in hand to keep the cheap immigrant labor flowing.

I bet if you did some digging you would find that the owners of this factory farm are connected to the IRC in some monetary or political way.   [And a whole separate issue is the question of how a real family farm can survive when they have to compete with a factory farm using cheap immigrant labor, and why would the IRC be helping kill the small farm?]

The Oregonian:

Expectations? The Africans have little in the way of expectations. They left those behind when they fled Eritrea, Congo or the Sudan, and the emotional baggage never caught up to them in the refugee camps of Ethiopia or Rwanda.

They waited in those camps for years. “There was a lot of suicide because things are so hard,” says Birhane Hailu, 33. “You can’t work. No jobs. No school.” And when the spark from a cigarette or a lightning strike sends fire raging through the shacks? “No water.”

When they are finally pulled from the wasteland by the International Rescue Committee, when they are ticketed for resettlement in America, you can understand the dizzying temptation to dream big.

“Most of us think we’re going to see a miracle,” Thierry Gasasu admits. “Paradise.

“And then we get to Boise.”

[…..]

Wolday and Hailu are two of the stalwarts among the 30-some refugees who work at the dairy and bunk at the Maple Crest Apartments in Boardman. As Wolday prepared dinner in early October — beef, onions and peppers on Injera bread — Hailu framed the daily routine:

“We only have time,” he said, “to go to work and sleep.”

Threemile Canyon Farms is owned by the R.D. Offutt Company, based in Fargo, N.D. Parked on 93,000 acres in the Columbia River basin, the farm produces 200,000 tons of potatoes annually. Its dairy operation features 16,000 milking cows, or one-seventh of the cows in Oregon.

[…..]

In 2011, the IRC found new homes for 224 transplants in Boise. Many of the household heads took jobs as dishwashers, barbers, janitors and motel housekeepers.

The strongest and the most desperate volunteered for Boardman and the dairy.

Egypt: So much for that Muslim charity fabrication

Somalis having it rough in Egypt!

Readers, a few years ago (2009, here) I took issue with a United Nation’s report that stated that charity toward refugees/immigrants comes from the teachings of the Koran and Shariah Law (more so than Christianity!).  At the time, I pointed to the Muslim countries that were anything but charitable toward asylum seekers.  Now we have (more) news that the new government of Egypt is not only not charitable, but black Muslims seem to be a special target for their hatred.

I guess that Arab Spring thing was only for Arabs!

From Bikyamasr.com:

CAIRO: Somali refugees across the world have passed the one million person mark, said the United Nations refugee agency on Friday, highlighting the growing need for an end to conflict in the Horn of Africa.

[…..]

Here in Egypt, life for Somali refugees is not easy, especially as the government began earlier this year to deport unregistered migrants in the country. Making matters worse, the UNHCR has largely not registered new refugees in the country in recent years.

Hamdy is a 29-year-old Somali living in Egypt. He has been in the country for 6 years and barely survives on the UNHCR monthly allowance.

“I have no real job and life is hard,” he told Bikyamasr.com, sipping his tea and warming his hands as the steam billowed upward. He stares in silence.

“A few of my friends have been arrested by the government when they tried to cross the border into Israel. We don’t know where they are right now and pray they are safe,” he continued. “It is not a good life to be a refugee in Egypt.”

Earlier this year, Egypt deported 93 Ethiopians who entered Egypt with the goal of crossing the Sinai desert into Israel illegally.

For Hamdy and others, this is the only way to make a life for oneself. “What can we do but hope to be allowed to work and have a family,” he said.

In Egypt, life is a struggle, where Africans face racism, ostracism and a lack of opportunity. For children of migrants and refugees, going to school is impossible as the Egyptian government does not allow refugees to attend public schools. For the vast majority of Sudanese and Somalis in the country, this leads to a waiting game, and in recent years as foreign relocation has been all but closed, they remain patiently in their host country for a call that doesn’t come.

The Africans want to get to Israel:

Egypt’s border security has been repeatedly criticized for its “shoot first” strategy in dealing with migrants attempting to cross into the Jewish state, as they often do not issue verbal warnings first and fire at the Africans.

Israel says that approximately 10,000 Africans have entered the country illegally via Egyptian borders over the past few years.

Africans in Egypt complain of poor living conditions and bad treatment at the hands of their host nation. Many see Israel as the next best solution for their troubles and are willing to risk death to reach the Jewish state, refugees in Egypt have repeatedly said.

So, let’s see—Egypt, a Muslim country governed by Shariah law, won’t take care of Muslim refugees, but tiny Israel is pressured into taking them.

Minneapolis terror trial reveals background on US citizen Somali who blew himself up in Somalia

I’m so sick of this story and the people involved in it, but to keep our archives up to date, I’ve got to report on the trial of the Somali “youths” who went off for jihad training after we gave them and their families the good life in America.

Remember way back in 2008 we learned that one of the youths blew himself to bits in Somalia and took 29 other human beings with him.  Our FBI kindly, and surely at taxpayer expense, scooped up his body parts and returned them to Minnesota for a funeral.

Now we learn from the on-going trial of a “recruiter” what happened to America’s first Somali suicide bomber.  From  Minnesota Public Radio:

Ahmed said he never made it to the battlefield because he and another Twin Cities recruit, Abdifatah Yusuf Isse, escaped from al-Shabab in 2008 while helping set up a training camp in southern Somalia.

But another Minneapolis man wasn’t so lucky.

Shirwa Ahmed also wanted to leave the camp but was “trapped” by al-Shabab, Salah Ahmed testified. In fact, Shirwa Ahmed — who went by a Somali nickname that roughly translated into “hairy man” for the tufts on his chest — had early doubts about joining the terror group, according to Salah Ahmed.

While he was in Saudi Arabia in 2008 for the Hajj pilgrimage, Shirwa Ahmed called the Minnesota recruits in Somalia by phone, saying he wasn’t going to meet up with them after all, Salah Ahmed told the jury. Shirwa Ahmed said religious scholars in Mecca advised him not to participate in the fighting.

“I think you guys have been tricked,” Salah Ahmed recalled him saying.

But a friend who enlisted with al-Shabab, Khalid Mohamed Abshir, eventually persuaded Shirwa Ahmed to change his mind, Salah Ahmed testified. Shirwa Ahmed reunited with the group at a safe house in southern Somalia and then made it to the training camp.

As Salah Ahmed and Isse were making their escape from al-Shabab, they ran into Shirwa Ahmed in the nearby city of Kismayo. Shirwa Ahmed apparently was on the same page.

“I want to go back to the United States,” Shirwa Ahmed told the men. But his passport was in the hands of al-Shabab leaders in the Somali capital, and he couldn’t return home without it.

“Instead, he went back to Mogadishu, so he was trapped,” Salah Ahmed told the jury. He said the group’s leaders refused to give Shirwa Ahmed his passport and talked him into returning to the camp.

Several months later, in October 2008, Shirwa Ahmed detonated himself in a series of coordinated attacks in northern Somalia that killed dozens of people, according to the FBI.

“He was the last person I ever thought about doing that,” Salah Ahmed testified. “He wanted to come back.”

Somali mosque on the hot seat in Minneapolis terror trial

While Somalis in Lewiston, ME have been taking to the streets to proclaim that they have been maligned by the words of the local Mayor, some of their fellow Somali refugees in Minneapolis are on trial for helping support terrorists in Somalia and for sending some of the young men we raised with our tax dollars to Somalia to get jihad training.

From near the beginning of our reporting on this story of the ‘missing Somali youths’ in 2008, here, fingers have been pointed at the Abubakar as-Saddique mosque as the headquarters for the recruitment effort.  Now we see from reports of the trial of mosque janitor Mahamud Said Omar that the mosque was indeed jihad recruitment central.

From reporter Ami Forlitti at the Associated Press:

Isse [a witness] said he knew Omar as the janitor at Abubakar as-Saddique mosque, where Isse spent a lot of time after moving to Minnesota from Seattle in 2007. It was there where he also met other men who would eventually travel to Somalia.

Under questioning from Assistant U.S. Attorney John Docherty, Isse testified that someone at the mosque named Farhan began talking to him about going to Somalia for a “jihad” against Ethiopians, which many Somalis viewed as invaders.

The men began making plans to travel — meeting in private rooms at the mosque, or at restaurants and in cars. Three other men, two of whom have been identified as travelers by prosecutors, led the discussions because they knew more about traveling and had contacts in Somalia, Isse said.

[…..]

The men raised money for airline tickets by going door-to-door under the guise of raising money for a mosque, Isse said.   [LOL! I bet the Imam will insist he didn’t know about this money raising venture—ed]

Rich kids can get their own weapon money!

Then get this! You know we have reported many times in recent months that the US government has made it almost impossible for Somalis in the US to send money Somalia now.   Somalis have been screaming bloody murder that their relatives in Somalia will starve.  (Rep. Keith Ellison is working overtime to get the money flowing to Somalia again.)  Seems it was pretty darn easy to send money for weapons to the ‘youths!’

Since the men were from the West, they were told to buy their own AK-47s. Isse said they began calling friends in the U.S. and asking for money, and eventually got assault rifles at another safe house. One weapon arrived with Omar’s name on it, Isse said.

Read the whole story.   Our previous post on the trial that began last Monday is here.

By the way, one thing that might point to holes in Isse’s testimony is when he reported that new recruits were told to turn over their travel docs upon arrival at the Al-shabaab safe house.  How did Isse manage to keep his and get back to the US?
