US refugee program attracting Somalis to Malta

I’ve been reporting this same story for years and making this very point, but now Maltese media is saying the same thing.  In hopes of getting a ticket to the US, more Somalis are coming ashore in Malta.

Here is just the latest story about the SINGLE ADULT MEN on the way to your town at this very moment.

From the Malta Star:

Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) personnel involved in search and rescue operations involving irregular migrants say that while most of the migrants who arrive in Malta usually want to reach Italy, they have noticed a new trend that Somalis are heading for Malta hoping that from here they would be sent to the United States through the US Refugee Settlement Program (USRRP).

[…..]

On Wednesday 12 persons from Somalia and Eritrea all of whom are single adult men granted subsidiary protection in Malta left to start a new life in the United States, under the USRRP.

[…..]

245 migrants have been resettled from Malta to the United States of America since the beginning of 2012. More beneficiaries of international protection are expected to leave to the United States in the coming weeks.

Bush ambassador to Malta, Molly Bordonaro, started the trend in  2008 (or at least that is when we learned of it) and it continues today.  These men are illegal aliens and economic migrants magically transformed into “refugees.”

Somalis from Denmark tour Minneapolis to see how America does it…

…..how we make Somalis feel welcome.

From the Copenhagen Post:

MINNEAPOLIS — A delegation of six young Somali Danes, two Swedes and one Norwegian visited the American city of Minneapolis last week to break bread with their Somali immigrant counterparts and learn how this city has integrated them into civic and economic life. Minneapolis boasts the largest Somali population outside of Africa and became a haven for them when the country broke into civil war in the early 1990s.

The exchange was initiated by the American ambassador to Denmark, Laurie S Fulton,*** in conjunction with the Danish Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration. Fulton said that young Somalis have trouble feeling accepted into Danish society and a recent trip she took to Minnesota inspired her to initiate the programme.

“Danish integration minister Karen Hækkerup hosted a workshop several months ago for Somali Danes; I offered to host a reception that Karen attended and that’s how we talked about trying to get them together,” Fulton said. “One of the many common issues that Denmark and the US share is helping the Somali immigrants that come to our nations become successful citizens. And who in the US is doing the best job at helping the Somalis feel welcome, learn how to become Americans and be happy? It’s Minneapolis.”

Minneapolis’ thriving Cedar-Riverside neighbourhood, on the banks of the Mississippi River, is home to many of the estimated 30,000 Somali Minnesotans and was the ideal setting from which to draw inspiration.

New readers:

Search RRW for “Cedar Riverside” for more information on the neighborhood.  Remember that most of the Somali youths who left the US for jihad training a few years back were raised here.  You could start your education with this post, Why so many Somalis in Minneapolis? which is one of our top posts here almost every day.  And, then there is the ever popular post still after four years–-How did we get so many Somalis?

Just for fun I searched RRW for Somalis Denmark and the list of problems is long—includes immigration fraud/human smuggling, terror arrests, refugee youths joining Al Shabaab, khat chewing and more….

***And don’t miss Laurie Fulton’s bio!   Fulton was a major bundler for Obama and the first wife of former Senator Tom Daschle!  Kind of reminds me of Molly, ambassador to Malta during the Bush years, who figured out how to get more Somalis from Malta to the US.

Sweden! One Djiboutian to another, come on over—the living is easy!

You don’t even have to work!

This is another diversity is beautiful report, from Mareeg a Somali on-line news outfit:

According to new report from community organisations in värmland county,85% of new asylum seekers are from Djibouti and Somaliland.

A local Somali source who refused to be named citing security concerns said that, a new wave of Djibouti started to flock to Sweden starting from 2007, this year its estimated that more than 7000 Djiboutians sought asylum in Sweden by falsely claiming that they’re from southern parts of Somalia, particularly lower and middle shabelle regions.

This has led to major problems in the refugee accommodation centers due to the sharp differences in cultures and traditions between Somalis and Djibouti.

Violence occurred due to those sharp language and cultural differences!

Early this year,a Somali teenager from Mogadishu was fatally stabbed in värmland by a man from Djibouti after the teenager insisted that ,the Djiboutian should drink and smoke cannabis outside their shared apartment at refugee accommodation Centre, other violent incidents occurred as result of such misunderstanding and sharp cultural and language differences between the two groups.

According to Eric L, a Swedish social worker in värmland, scores of French speaking Somalis have been noticed in the county which caused major confusion and surprise, since speaking French is uncommon among Somalis from Somalia [but, is the predominant language in Djibouti—ed]. He argued that personally he has been working with Somalis in Sweden for the past fifteen years and never came across such numbers of French speaking Somalis.

Summertime, wintertime, anytime and the livin’ is easy!  Africans! Come one and all to Sweden!

A Djiboutian who refused to be named in fear of reprisals from his fellow country men, said that he left Djibouti on May this year, and came to Sweden via France. There is no work in Djibouti, corruption is rampant, and its hard to put food on the table there, Life in Sweden is very easy and getting papers is more easier, you don’t even have to work to put food on the table, i advised all my friends and relatives to come here, most of them are on the way, five already arrived and sought asylum, two already managed to get Permanent residence permit (PUT).

Ah, Sweden, that multicultural mecca and its grand experiment with free living for one and all—how is that workin’ out for you now?

Denver: Ethiopian “refugee” arrested, is alleged war criminal

If there was ever a case that argues for DNA testing in family reunification this is it!

But, of course that much anticipated DNA testing isn’t happening yet in a big way because the “human rights” agitators scream bloody murder about it and the US State Department bows to their wishes.

From 9News in Denver * (hat tip: a friend from Tennessee):

ARAPAHOE COUNTY – The 9Wants to Know investigators have learned U.S. Federal agents arrested a man who they believe is a war criminal from Ethiopia convicted of killing 101 people and torturing many others.

Kefelegn Alemu Worku went by the name Tufa or Habteab Berhe Temanu, according to federal agents and federal court documents reviewed by 9Wants to Know. Immigration Customs Enforcement arrested Worku was arrested Aug. 24, but news of his arrest wasn’t immediately made public.

ICE agents allege Worku stole an identity and forged his citizenship application to be able to get into the United States. Federal prosecutors charged him with unlawful procurement of citizenship or naturalization and aggravated identity theft. If convicted he could be sentenced to 10 years in prison. It’s not clear whether he could be deported back to Ethiopia.  [Of course not!  We will just get to support him for the rest of his life!—ed]

Refugee ‘children’ figured their own dad was too infirm to make it to America, so they swapped him out for a war criminal instead.  Hmmmm…. so who says the ‘kids’ are even related?

Customs agents discovered Worku used a fraudulent name to immigrate to the United States on July 12, 2004 as a refugee along with four children to live with a fifth child already in the United States.

When agents interviewed the unnamed, fifth child they say he admitted his real father wasn’t mentally or physically able to immigrate to the United States. The children were worried their father’s health would jeopardize their changes [chances] of immigrating to the United States so they recruited Worku to assume the identity of their father in the refugee process.

* What is up with Denver?  Earlier this year we had the Uzbek “refugee” terror arrest there.  But, it’s not the only city to be lucky enough to get refugee war criminals and the opportunity to host an expensive trial.  Concord, NH had a multimillion dollar Rwandan “refugee” war criminal trial back in the spring, here.

Want some quick facts about refugee resettlement in Colorado?  Go here to the official site at the Colorado Department of Human Services where we learned, among other things, that CO would be getting 2000 new refugees this year.

Here is one question/answer that should be of interest (and should scare the c*** out of you):

Are refugees screened for security and health issues?

Refugees undergo a comprehensive screening for security and health issues.  They are perhaps the most heavily screened group allowed to enter the U.S. from a foreign country. In fact, most refugees must wait months for final clearance to be admitted because of the rigorous process they must undergo to assure their identity and protect the citizens of the U.S. from any security risk.

Oopsie!

South Africa sending refugees to Australia!

And, news flash!  We are taking some too!

By definition refugees are people who claim persecution, leave their home country (where the persecution occurred) and seek asylum in a safe country.  They are not supposed to use “safe countries” as hopping off places to a better deal somewhere else, and that is what is happening with increased frequency worldwide.   (Search ‘Malta’ here at RRW to learn more about how that came to be.)

Nothing steams me more than the fact that we and other western countries are now taking black AFRICAN “refugees” from South Africa who claim that the Rainbow Nation is not safe for them.  Yet, heaven help the truly persecuted whites in South Africa.

I’ve written many posts over the years trying to expose the Rainbow Nation multicultural nirvana myth, but it seems that no one in the media is willing to face the reality of what the Rainbow Nation is!  Here is how wikipedia describes the term Rainbow Nation.  What a joke!

Rainbow Nation is a term coined by Archbishop Desmond Tutu to describe post-apartheid South Africa, after South Africa’s first fully democratic election in 1994.

The phrase was elaborated upon by President Nelson Mandela in his first month of office, when he proclaimed: “Each of us is as intimately attached to the soil of this beautiful country as are the famous jacaranda trees of Pretoria and the mimosa trees of the bushveld – a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world.”

The term was intended to encapsulate the unity of multi-culturalism and the coming-together of people of many different nations, in a country once identified with the strict division of white and black.

Surprise!  Tribalism is alive and well in South Africa and diversity does not bring strength!

Here is the story that caught my attention about Australia (and other western countries) taking “refugees” from South Africa.  It begins and ends with the story of Congolese “asylum seekers” who have lived in South Africa for a decade (five of those years have been spent trying to get out).

After five years of hoping and waiting, Marie*, her husband Simeon* and their three children, refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, finally received a phone call telling them to pack their bags as they would be leaving South Africa for Australia at the end of the month.

Simeon was unconcerned by the short notice. “We’ve been ready for so long,” he told IRIN from the UN Refugee Agency’s (UNHCR) offices in Pretoria, where the family had just found out the name of the city they would be restarting their lives in. “Brisbane,” said Marie, testing the word on her lips for the first time. “Do you know where that is?”

The xenophobic violence that South Africa is experiencing is not coming from the white population but in many cases is leveled at whites as well as black African “foreigners.”  Of course, news reports never make that clear.  They can’t bring themselves to say that the blacks of Nelson Mandela’s supposedly victimized South Africa are now persecuting others!

Until a wave of xenophobic violence against foreigners erupted in South Africa in 2008, the country was considered fairly progressive in its treatment of refugees and asylum seekers, and as having little need for resettlement. Since that time, most of the cases that UNHCR refers for resettlement are victims of continued xenophobic attacks, many of them Somalis attempting to run businesses in low-income areas where their presence is viewed as a threat by local traders.

The Congolese family was rejected by the US and Canada before being “welcomed” by Australia (see previous post about Australia increasing its refugee numbers).  The UN went shopping for a country which would take them.

For a refugee desperate to escape an intolerable situation and make a fresh start, the process can feel endless, particularly if it concludes with a rejection. Dermegerditchian said more than 90% of the cases that UNHCR submits for resettlement in the southern Africa region are accepted, but Marie and her family were rejected by both the US and Canada before Australia agreed to take them.

Marie is convinced that they were rejected because two of their children suffer from haemophilia, a genetic disorder that impairs the body’s ability to control bleeding, but Dermegerditchian was reluctant to speculate. “Resettlement countries have their own criteria; they only inform us of the reasons for denial in general terms,” he said. “In some cases UNHCR needs to reinterview the refugee to make sure their stories are consistent. If we can’t find a problem, we resubmit their case to another country.”

After years of joblessness, denial of medical treatment for their children, and what they describe as constant xenophobia from their neighbours, Marie and Simeon’s relief to be leaving their home of the past decade is palpable. “The fact that they’re welcoming us [in Australia] – it frees you psychologically,” said Simeon.

Hundreds of supposed “refugees” from South Africa are already coming to the US!  That is news to me!

The Guardian article also informs us:

…. the US introduced a new security procedure*** last year, which delayed many cases, particularly those of Somalis and Iraqis, and saw the number of refugees resettled from South Africa drop from 387 in 2010 to 81 last year. “This year, things are moving much better and we’ve already had 220 departures,” he said.

Read the whole Guardian article, there is a lot in it.

If you check the numbers and nationalities of refugees arriving in the US here, you will note that there is no mention of those who came in from “safe” countries like South Africa and Malta to name just two.  Are we going to learn next that we are taking “refugees” from Greece, or the UK, or Italy?

For more on what we’ve said about South Africa and its multicultural nirvana myth, type “rainbow nation” into our search function.

* Marie and Simeon are not their real names and they don’t look like the kind of refugees who have caused crime rates to rise in Melbourne, here.

*** The new security procedures were instituted after the arrests of Iraqi refugees in Kentucky, one of whom plead guilty just this week of conspiring to help Al-Qaeda in Iraq, here.
