I wonder if Malta’s illegal aliens have arrived in Colorado yet?

Last month I told you again that Somalis and other African Muslims are breaking into Europe by taking boats to Malta and asking for asylum.

In this story about our Ambassador to Malta giving a tea-party send-off to a Somali family, the supposedly Somali ‘refugee’ says he is off to Colorado where a lot of black people live.    One of the funny parts about this story (besides the tea party) is that when you look at the photo of the illegal alien with his “new” wife, he doesn’t look Somali.

Greeley and other “welcoming” cities in Colorado, you have more refugees on the way.  And, they didn’t live in camps they came in boats, illegally, to Europe and they are flown to America—airfare thanks to the US taxpayer.

Go here to learn how many Somalis we have taken in the last 25 years.

How did we get so many Somali refugees—the numbers are telling

Update October 23, 2016: 9,020 were admitted according to the Refugee Processing Center.

Update October 21, 2015: 8,858 were admitted in FY2015, here.

Update October 26, 2014:  The final tally for FY2014 is 9,000!

Update September 7, 2014:  Found it! FY2013 Somali admissions to the US–7,600!

Update August 29th, 2014:  Finally got around to updating the stats at least for FY 2011 and 2012 (see below).  Couldn’t find 2013 but will keep looking.  We are nearly doubling the numbers of Somalis admitted this fiscal year (2014).  As of July 31, we have admitted 7,326 Somalis to your towns and cities.

Update August 28th, 2014:  I need to update the recent years.  The numbers stayed low for a number of years because family reunification had been closed to Somalis for years due to the huge fraud uncovered by the State Department in 2008, but Somali resettlement to America is on the rise again.

Update November 13th, 2010:  This post continues to be one of the most visited posts at RRW.  I have just now updated the numbers for FY 2010 below which ended on September 30th.

I finally got around to something I’ve been promising to do for weeks (months!) and that is go over all the records of Somali resettlement numbers.

I do want to remind readers that these numbers are only for the Refugee Resettlement Program of the US State Department.  We just had a commenter to another post suggesting that the numbers are much larger then the government statistics indicate for immigration to the US.  I don’t doubt that.  But, again, these are the numbers that the Office of Refugee Resettlement must present to Congress each year for that special category “refugees.”

Much to my surprise, the numbers (and patterns) for Somali refugees admitted to the US are even more shocking then I had originally guessed.

Also, in my last post, I quoted the reporter as saying that the Somalis began arriving in Minneapolis in the late 70’s.  Well, maybe there were a handful, but the largest numbers have arrived here AFTER 9/11!

The Refugee Act of 1980 presumably required the Office of Refugee Resettlement to begin reporting to Congress annually.  The first table I looked at lumped all numbers from 1983-1993.  In those 10 years, 4413 Somalis were admitted as refugees.

Then here we go:

1983-93:   4,413

1994:  3,508

1995:  2,524

1996:  6,440

1997:  4,948

1998:  2,952

1999:  4,321

2000:  6,002

2001:  4,940

2002:   242    (Guesses why this is so low?  9/11 freaked everyone out!)

2003:  1,708

O.K. so in 2003 we had admitted a total of 42,017 Somalis to the US.  In those 20 years each Somali family was having on average 6 children.

Continuing (are you sitting down?):

2004:  12,814

2005:  10,101

2006:  10,330

2007:  6,958

2008:  2,523

2009:  4,189  (on the rise again even though family reunification is suspended still!)

2010:  4,884

2011:  3,161

2012:  4,921

2013:  7,600

2014:  9,000

2015: 8,858

We have reported to you before that the number is so low (relatively low!) for 2008 because DNA testing in Africa showed that the refugee program was corrupt through and through and those thousands coming in as “family” were lying.

We have admitted 83,991 Somali Shariah-supporting immigrants to the US in 25 years [as of when I first wrote this post—ed]   More then half, 43,682, came since September 11th!

Who was responsible and why?   I don’t know.   I do know that African resettlement was not a priority until, according to a report by Heidi Boas which I mentioned here last year, the Congressional Black Caucus got involved:

Anyway, I am getting away from my story. According to Heidi Boas* in her lengthy 2007 paper entitled, “The New Face of America’s Refugees: African Refugee Resettlement to the United States:”

….several of the individuals interviewed for this paper identified the Congressional Black Caucus as one of the most influential groups advocating over the past decade for increased African refugee resettlement to the United States.

I also think that in addition to political reasons that the Black Caucus had for boosting minority voter numbers, that big businesses, like these meatpackers we have been talking about, have been working with friends in the State Department and the Department of Health and Human Services as if those agencies were their employment services.

Do you ever wonder if the Congressional Black Caucus members know what they did to our own American blacks because these immigrants are pushing them out of jobs now?

I know who could answer all of our questions about how and why we took militant Muslims in such great numbers into the US:    Terry Rusch, Director of the Office of Admissions, US State Department could tell us, if she was willing. [Editors note, Rusch has since retired.]

If you would like to check numbers yourself, the best thing I can do is send you to this post as a starting place.   I got these numbers at so many different Office of Refugee Resettlement Annual reports to Congress that it is too cumbersome to put all those links in here.  However, you should be able to use the links I just mentioned and sort it out—you will also find it interesting to see from what countries we are admitting refugees and to what states they are going.

Violence against Sudanese refugees in Maine is growing

Update September 11th:  More on the murder of this Christian Sudanese man

Portland, Maine has the largest population of mostly Christian refugees from the Sudan in the US according to various news accounts, but recently that community has been the focus of violent crime activity.

Here is an article just yesterday about another murder of a Sudanese man, a long-time resident, in that city:

PORTLAND, Maine—City officials sought Tuesday to reassure members of the Sudanese community who said they no longer feel safe following the fatal shooting of a hospital security officer whose family came from Sudan to Portland in 1995.

Representatives of the Sudanese Community Association of Maine met with the mayor, city manager and police chief after delivering a letter that stated its members are living in fear following a number of violent acts targeting Sudanese people.

Sudanese residents feel let down by the lack of communication that has “created fear in supposedly our new home of hope,” the letter said.

James Angelo Okot, 27, was gunned down early Sunday in the parking lot of Mercy Hospital. Police were searching for two assailants.

Read on, he was not the first to die.

South African black businesses want Somalis out

Update September 13th:  Retailers back down, apologize and Somali shops can stay.

Update September 11th:  “Talks” begin.

You probably think I’m getting obsessed with South Africa.  I guess I am.  It is because what is happening in the “rainbow nation” demonstrates clearly basic principles of how a country, set up to worship diversity, cannot survive open borders as jobs and resources become scarce.   Note this is not about race, everyone involved is black, but it does involve religion and the advance of Islam throughout the African continent.

Here is the latest on the conflict coming to us from The Mail and Guardian of London.   A chapter of a Chamber of Commerce apparently has threatened Somali street vendors with violence if they continue setting up shops:

The National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Nafcoc) in the Western Cape has sent letters to about 200 Somali traders who have returned to the township of Khayelitsha, warning them to close their shops or face physical violence.

The Mail & Guardian has seen the letters, sent by a group of Khayelitsha traders belonging to Nafcoc and operating as the Zanokhanyo Retailers Association.

The traders tell Somali shopkeepers to close their shops by September 21 or they will “resolve to much higher actions that will include physically fighting” for their rights.

A Nafcoc representative responded that the foreigners (Somalis) are killing their businesses, their children are hungry and when they complain they are called “xenophobic.”

…. Nafcoc’s Western Cape secretary, Mandise Njoli, said that the Somalis “fight civil wars in their own countries and then come here and take away our livelihood. Maybe we should start a civil war so that they will leave our communities.”

He added that the Somali traders “are Arabs and they’re in our country illegally. Why can’t they be kept in refugee camps?

“We’re all members of Nafcoc and we are dying here,
my sister. Our children are hungry. These people work for two cents and when we complain about the unfair advantage, then we’re called xenophobic,” Njoli said.

“We can’t even do business with these people because today he calls himself Abdul and tomorrow he is Muhamed. During the day Shoprite takes our business and during the night, it’s the foreigners.

“The Somalis are Arabs and Muslims and those countries have lots of money and they’re helping their countrymen. Our own country and democracy, which we paid so dearly for, does nothing to help us.”

The signer of the controversial letter, Sydwell Citwa, chairperson of Zanokhanyo Retailers, went on to reiterate that their children are hungry and the Muslims are getting an unfair advantage from the Islamic power structure in South Africa.   And, afterall, he says, we (black South Africans) fought and died for democracy, and what do we get for it.

Our problem is simple: We are hungry. We are angry. And the Somalis are undercutting us.

“These people come into the country with nothing and the next minute they have stocked shops and fridges. We’ve done our research and we know that the Muslim Judicial Council [MJC] is helping them because they’re Muslim.

“We also want help from our government because we gave them power. We are the ones who fought for freedom and democracy and now these Somalis are here eating our democracy,” Citwa said.

To new readers of Refugee Resettlement Watch, the US State Department has allowed over 82,000 Somali refugees to enter the US in recent years.   Why do we think that an implosion, like in South Africa, could not happen here?

The World Cup, South Africa and xenophobia (yes, xenophobia again!)

Apparently the World Cup is scheduled to be held in South Africa in 2010 and everyone is freaking out about what impact the “xenophobic” unrest (violence!) of recent months will have on the games and the hoped-for economic boom tourists might bring.   This is an overly long article from a publication of the Namibian government in which, yes, once again, xenophobia is blamed for the violence.    Those South Africans hate foreigners for no reason at all (except that they are foreigners), or so the theory goes.   See my earlier post on xenophobia here.

Sandwiched in the middle of this, as I said, overlong dissection, is what I see as the crux of the matter.  There are too many people in Africa and too few resources.  As the population increases and hordes of people cross borders to find the basic necessities, jobs, food, shelter,  the indiginous population will react violently to preserve their own lives and livelihoods.   In South Africa it is the poor black population perpetuating the violence against other African black ‘outsiders’.

This is not rocket science, nor does it call for a psychiatrist to root out xenophobia.

In 1997, it was found that 25% of South Africans wanted a total prohibition of migration or immigration and 22% wanted the South African government to return all foreigners presently living in South Africa to their own countries.

Forty-five percent of the sample called for strict limits to be placed on migrants and immigrants and 17% wanted migration policies tied to the availability of jobs. In the same survey, some 61% of respondents agreed that migrants put additional strains on the country’s resources.

The government of the “rainbow nation” did nothing.  So does the next survey surprise anyone?

In 2006, respondents continued to consider foreigners to be a threat to the social and economic wellbeing of South Africa. More than two-thirds said that foreigners use up resources such as water, electricity and healthcare destined for citizens. Two-thirds of respondents felt that foreigners from other African countries commit crimes and close to one half said that foreigners bring diseases such as HIV to South Africa.

Thus, like in the1997 survey, respondents in 2006 appear to continue to have a negative view of the impact of foreigners on the country, and in fact it would appear that their view on certain issues has hardened, with greater percentages saying foreigners take up resources meant for citizens.

It makes perfect sense that the citizens of South Africa are responding to a real problem of too many people and not enough resources.  When the government didn’t listen 10 years ago, is it any surprise that their view has hardened!     Take heed John ‘open-our-borders’ McCain.
