Invasion of Europe round-up: UN bullies the West (so what else is new!)

Editor:  LOL! This is one way to deal with my growing backlog!

“No expense spared” as Saudi Arabia builds the world’s best security fence. The UN and its “humanitarian” lapdogs are silent. http://www.homelandsecurityresearch.com/2008/06/saudi-arabia-border-fence-market-largest-in-the-world/

~UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Socialist Antonio Gutteres opines that European financial support for Syrian refugees is no longer enough and that more countries (besides Germany and Sweden) need to open their arms to mostly Muslim ‘refugees’ and invite them in.

~They are breaking into Spain through Morocco, but Spain is not a welcoming place say Syrian refugees who want to move on to Germany, Sweden or France.

~Bulgarian “anti-refugee” border fence ticks-off the international humanitarian industrial complex.  But they say nothing that I know of about the best border fences in the world protecting Saudi Arabia!   We have reported on several occasions that S.A. rounds up, and deports, all those would-be asylum seekers who do manage to get into the “Kingdom.”

~Longer wait for Syrians trying to get into Sweden, is the slowdown on purpose?

~Italian police arrest Somali (Italian national) human trafficker. Italy has rescued 66,000 illegal aliens entering Italy by sea in the last six months!  20 Somalis among 600 illegal aliens rescued by Italian Navy this week.

~Turkey attempts to clear Istanbul of Syrian beggars living on the streets.  Turkey, a Muslim country, has been “welcoming” but the citizens there are losing patience now.

~Muslim immigrants turn Paris into war zone.

Notice a common thread.  Truth-be-told, Europe isn’t so welcoming to ‘asylum seekers’ because the illegal aliens trying to break in are almost all Muslims.  Not even Saudi Arabia wants them.

If Saudi Arabia can build a 1,600-mile-long fence, why can’t we?   Just asking!

Legal Representation for Central American Minors: WHAT ABOUT THE MAYANS?

Editors note:  From time to time we post good comments from our readers.  This is another excellent piece by reader ‘pungentpeppers’ with an entirely new and problematic angle on the ‘unaccompanied minors’ crisis that few are aware of!  See our category “comments worth noting” for more reader commentary.  Our extensive coverage of the ‘unaccompanied minors’ border surge is here.

Certain members of Congress want a law requiring taxpayer-funded legal representation for underage Central American migrants.  I’ll ignore for now that there are not enough immigration attorneys, or room in our courts, to handle tens of thousands of long, drawn-out, and often dubious, cases.  Instead, let’s focus on the big interpretation wall we’re going to hit because, as usual, nobody remembers the Mayans!

Attempting to learn English, 15-year-old Hugo speaks Q’anjob’al an indigenous Mayan language. http://wvpublic.org/post/language-barriers-pose-challenges-mayan-migrant-children

Not everybody in Central America speaks Spanish.  This fact is slowly dawning on our politicians.  San Francisco’s Mayor Ed Lee in an interview with the San Francisco Bay Guardian said:  “I’m trying to wrap my arms around the fact that many of these kids don’t speak Spanish.  They speak Mayan and different languages.”

Mayan is not one language but a native language family that includes many mutually unintelligible tongues.  About 40 percent of Guatemalans are Mayan, and they speak around two dozen native languages, including M’am, Q’anjob’al, K’itche and Ixil.

Although young people who arrive here could learn basic English, if such a law were enacted, they would still need help to communicate with their lawyers and the courts.  They would need legal interpreters.  Here’s where it gets messy.  For the Guatemalan Mayan language called “Ixil”, there is ONE legal interpreter in the whole country!  Her name is Sheba Velasco and she’s been very busy of late.  Hers is a mentally-stressful job.  People expect her to help them stay in the U.S., but there’s nothing she can do legally for them except interpret the language.  There’s so much work, she told NPR, “I can’t do all of it. It’s hard.”

Sheba Velasco has an important message about the unaccompanied minors currently flooding the country.  She doesn’t agree with parents sending their children on the dangerous journeys, she told CBC Canada. For starters, their safety is at risk, but second, she’d prefer they stay in Guatemala where they can practice their cultural traditions and language. She knows many families are poor and struggle but Velasco said coming to America is not necessarily how to get a better life.

“What I would like to share with them is, you can make it where you are,” she said.

She feels badly that families fall for the lies they are told by smugglers. The coyotes, as they’re called, show photos of the U.S. around her village, and tell young people how easy it is to make money there. Parents essentially sign their houses over to the banks to get money to pay the smugglers. Their children get caught at the border, are sent home and everything is lost, Velasco explained. In the worst-case scenario, their children don’t even make it back.

“I would not send my children,” she said. “Their life is more important to me.”

The situation of these rural Mayan young people belies the current media gospel that everyone from Central America is fleeing from gangs.  They don’t live in cities and they don’t speak Spanish – they can’t even communicate with gangs!  As economic migrants, under our laws, there’s no chance they will obtain legal asylum in our country.  We should not foolhardily rush into shackling ourselves into providing legal representation, when there are not enough interpreters and their chances of winning such cases are practically nil.

Australia: “most multicultural society on earth” wants more immigrants! Who knew!

That’s what a recent article in The Australian reports as it tells us that 20% of respondents want more migrants to come to Australia in an article titled, Two-Thirds Majority Back Current or Higher Immigration Intake.

Here are the charming 20% who want higher levels of immigration to Australia as the Abbott government turns back asylum seekers. https://news.vice.com/article/the-australian-navy-is-towing-asylum-seekers-back-out-to-sea

I had to read this article a couple of times to figure out what the point of it all might be and am still not sure, except to use a “news” story to sway public opinion.

Remember, readers, as we know so well, Tony Abbott, Australia’s present Prime Minister was elected only last year because of his platform (which he apparently is working on daily to hear the squealing out of the UN) to slow the flow of boat people (faux asylim seekers) breaking into Australia.  The citizens there were completely fed up!

We frequently cite Australia, Israel and Bulgaria as three countries seriously attempting to close their borders.

Check out the article yourself (here is a bit of it) posted at American Renaissance (with some good commentary).   One thing seems clear, the pollsters polled heavily in immigrant neighborhoods and among young, rich, city dwellers.

Higher migration levels are favoured by a fifth of Australians, in an exclusive Newspoll survey revealing robust support for the most multicultural society on earth.

Nearly half the people surveyed support Australia’s existing immigration intake, which settled 190,000 immigrants last year in the world’s largest per capita intake. Two-thirds were skilled migrants.

Twenty-two per cent favour an even higher intake, with support strongest among the young, those on high incomes and capital city-dwellers.

European, African and Asian migration enjoys the strongest public support, with 26 per cent of Australians desiring more migrants from Europe. Another 18 per cent want to see more Asian migrants, and 20 per cent support more immigration from Africa.

In contrast, just 14 per cent of Australians want to see more Muslim migrants, and 37 per cent favour a cut.

Read it all.

By the way, about the same number (20%) of respondents who want higher immigration levels also say that Australians are racists.

LOL! This article could just as well have been titled:  86% of Australians polled want less Muslim migrants admitted to Australia.  I guess that would mean that some of the immigrants polled and some of the young, rich, city dwellers are Islamophobic.   Gee, I wonder why?

For new readers, see our Australia category with over 100 previous posts.  We especially want American readers to know that the invasion by the third world is happening in every advanced society and you need to know how others are handling the demographic upheaval.  Western society is under siege.

WND: Religious charities profit from open borders

Every time I think I’m done with this topic for a few minutes, in comes a new article that you must see on the border invasion.

Right now there are so many other issues involving refugees and migrants in the US and around the world that we are missing with our non-stop coverage of the invasion of America that I’m fearful that our international readers will drop off (we have readers in over 150 countries!).

Bishop Elizondo leading a pack of priests on the border: they are all refugees now! https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2014/06/26/us-catholic-bishops-chairman-kids-coming-across-border-should-be-viewed-as-refugees/

However, since this is one of our major concerns—the complete lack of understanding by the average citizen (and Glen Beck!) that charitable “religious” groups (pretending to be driven to help the migrants purely out of Christian or Jewish charity) could never exist without almost their entire budget being funded by US taxpayers—we are relieved to finally see a far-reaching national level report on the issue.

Leo Hohmann writing at WND (emphasis is mine):

Thousands of Central American children crossing the border illegally could soon turn into asylum seekers armed with immigration lawyers provided by church groups and paid for by federal tax dollars.

Catholic Charities is running a fundraising campaign to help finance the resettlement of the illegal aliens, WND reported. But the religious charities get the bulk of their funding not from private donors or church members putting checks into a basket. They get it from the federal government.

Alexandria, Va.-based Catholic Charities USA reported receiving $1.7 million in government grants in 2012, according to its IRS Form 990.

But one of the largest recipients of government funds to resettle immigrant children is the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The USCCB helps resettle not only unaccompanied alien children, or UACs, who enter the country illegally but also refugees fleeing persecution overseas who enter through legal channels.

The USCCB is one of nine primary agencies that receive hundreds of millions in U.S. tax dollars to perform their charity work. Under contract with the federal government, the nonprofit groups work to resettle child refugees and asylum seekers. Six of the nine contractors are religious groups, WND has learned, including the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Episcopal Migration Ministries, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the Church World Service and World Relief Corp., which includes a plethora of evangelical groups.

The Catholic Bishops alone received $65.9 million in federal grants to care for unaccompanied alien children and refugees, according to its 2012 annual report.

By contrast, the group raised $1.4 million from its own church members while federal loans and private-sector grants made up the remainder of the $71 million spent on the resettlements that year. That means 93 percent of the USCCB’s spending on charity work with UACs and refugees was covered by the American taxpayer.

Kevin Appleby, director of USCC’s Migration and Refugee Services Office, did not return calls from WND seeking comment.

Similar funding ratios have been found to be the norm with the Lutheran effort.

The Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service reported total income of $41.7 million in 2012, and government grants accounted for $40.4 million, or 96.8 percent of that amount, according to the nonprofit’s most recently reported Form 990, a disclosure that nonprofits must file with the Internal Revenue Service. The group raised only $1.3 million from private donors.

Miji Bell, press spokeswoman for Lutheran Immigration, also did not return calls Tuesday.

If they would tell the public the truth about their funding (and their fat salaries) I might have some respect for the whole bunch!

Dan Cadman at CIS:  They all have their hands in the pie!  And, they are working to get the illegals qualified as refugees.  WND continues….

Dan Cadman, with the Center for Immigration Studies, says it’s a conflict of interest for a group that benefits financially from immigration – both legal and illegal – to try to influence immigration policy.

“It bothers me that any private organization is using a government funding stream for that purpose, not only Catholic Charities but Lutheran World Service, the Episcopal Church, they’ve all got their hands in the pie,” Cadman said. “The thing is that everyone understands that, with a wink and a nod, this so-called emergency money (from Obama) is not going to result in any substantial number of individuals being deported. It’s just not. How ironic to see an emergency budget supplemental request and then when you look at the details you see it’s all going to be chewed up for things like brick and mortar buildings for resettlement and not used in any useful way to stop this tidal wave of human beings.”

Cadman said there is “no doubt in my mind” that the religious NGOs or “non-governmental organizations” are working with the United Nations to get the children qualified as refugees or asylum seekers.  (See our post on Bishops call alien children “refugees.”—ed)

By the way, the Bishops have their own immigration legal branch (most likely funded with federal grants too) known as CLINIC (a story for another day!).  One could call Obama’s plea for more money for the border crisis, The Immigration Lawyers Employment Act of 2014!

Read the whole World Net Daily article it is full of information on the groups comprising the Religious Left, I’ve only snipped a small amount of it!

VDARE: Call Your “State Refugee Coordinator” And Ask How Many Phony Refugees From The Southwest Border Are Coming To YOUR State!

VDARE posted a call to action last night for you to contact your state refugee coordinator this week and ask:  are the unaccompanied alien minors (UACs) coming to your state?

And, by the way, the federal refugee contractors have action alerts out this week to their open borders activists to call Congress for more money for them (the children and the contractor)!

Protesters turn back Homeland Security buses in Murietta, CA last week. http://www.desertsun.com/story/news/2014/07/01/protesters-turn-back-busloads-immigrants-murrieta/11945751/

VDARE (emphasis mine):

Hard information on the phony refugee (“The children!”) surge at the Southwest border is hard to come by. This is true even if you’re a congressman—when Jim Bidenstine (R- OK) showed up at a holding camp in his home state he was stonewalled.

[….]

Between the ballot boxes (months away) and “the streets” (rare to nonexistent in American history) there’s citizen pressure on our despotic elites and their kept bureaucrats.

This is where VDARE.com readers come in. Are swarms of “The children!” coming to your state?

If they are, your state’s refugee coordinator will probably be among the first to know. So phone “your” coordinator – contact information is below—and, politely, ask basic questions such as Where? When? How Many? and What’s it going to cost state and local taxpayers?

[….]

The week starting Monday, July 7 is the time to phone, as VDARE.com has learned that at least some of the coordinators will be on a conference call with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement during the week. It will help if the coordinators are made to understand that many of their fellow citizens are very concerned.

Read it all for more information and to follow the links!

Here and below is a complete list of Refugee resettlement employees in your state, if you can’t get the coordinator, try one of the others especially see the contact information for “regional reps.”   Even those “health coordinators” are going to be informed in light of the health issues the “children” will be bringing to the state.
