1,600 of Australia's rejected migrants want to come to America in Obama "dumb" deal

(2013) DOZENS have been charged after rioting asylum seekers left the Nauru immigration detention centre in ruins. http://www.news.com.au/national/dozens-charged-after-nauru-detention-riot/news-story/89cc338cc0b837c348afa93c06686e48

This is the “dumb” deal that the Trump Administration has agreed to honor! (See previous posts here)
Supposedly we are taking up to 1,250 rejected asylum seekers (mostly from Muslim countries) that Australia is housing in detention centers at two off-shore locations after they tried to enter Australia illegally.
Thorn in Turnbull’s side! Australian open borders protestors want the detention centers closed and the ‘refugees’ admitted to Australia. Instead over 1,000 will be headed to the US. If we had anyone with guts in Congress they might introduce a bill that requires towns (where they will be placed) are notified of the arrival of Australia’s rejected asylum seekers.

Australia plans to close some of the detention facilities by the end of August and detainees (those not going to your US town) have been offered help to get home.
So what is the “deal” part of this?  For the first time in a long time, we get a bit of news about what Australia is doing for us!  Get this!
Australia is taking some Central Americans presently in Central America (they aren’t even in the US!).  So, I repeat, what are we getting out of the deal?
From 9 News (Australia):

More than 1600 refugees have expressed interest in Australia’s resettlement deal with the United States, which is expected to offer up to 1250 places.

[….]

US officials are vetting refugees on both Manus Island and Nauru to decide who they’ll resettle in America under a one-off deal struck with the federal government.

The immigration department says the US considers refugees as cases, which can comprise a nuclear or extended family group, or an individual.

More than 900 detainees have completed their first interviews with US officials.

[….]

Australia will remove itself from the process on August 31, meaning no more help for refugees returning to their home countries voluntarily from that date forward, senators were told.

Meanwhile, Australia has begun a refugee screening process for seven cases, 30 individuals in total, for potential resettlement from Central America in relation to the US deal.

Let me be clear! First, any Central American migrants presently in Central America are not our problem.
And, consider this!

Australia will take Central American Christians and we get mostly Muslims from the following countries: Iran, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, and Sudan (4 of those countries are on Trump’s original travel ban list).
Adding insult to injury, you pay for all of this!
Trump spotted the dumb deal and called it what it is, but….
POTUS might have had the best instincts during the campaign and shortly after getting in office, but frankly, he is now being rolled by the bureaucrats (and RINOs in Congress).  So much for his business/management acumen!
If this deal goes through, it will be Trump’s dumb deal!

Pence in Australia: Sure! We will be taking over 1,000 illegal aliens now held in Australian detention

Donald Trump called it a “dumb deal,” but your American town may soon see some of the 1,250 illegal aliens, who attempted to get to Australia by boat and have been housed in detention centers, flown in and given apartments and homes where you live.  They won’t be living next door to Vice President Pence for sure!

Some of these men will be coming to your town!

Here is what AP is reporting at the Japan Times (emphasis is mine) about a deal the Obama State Department left for Trump:

SYDNEY – Vice President Mike Pence and Australia’s prime minister brushed off any lingering hostility over a contentious refugee deal and joined forces on Saturday to urge China to take a greater role in pressuring North Korea to drop its nuclear weapons program.

Pence and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull repeatedly praised the decades-long American-Australian alliance following a meeting in Sydney, with the vice president thanking Turnbull for calling on Beijing to play a more active part in the international effort to de-escalate Pyongyang’s nuclear threat.

Pence kissing up to Turnbull!

The two leaders appeared at pains to present a united front following an unusual period of tension between the longtime allies that was sparked by a spat between Turnbull and President Donald Trump over a refugee resettlement deal struck by the Obama administration.

Pence said Saturday that the U.S. would honor the agreement even if it didn’t agree with it. Under the deal, the U.S. would take up to 1,250 refugees that Australia houses in detention camps on the Pacific island nations of Nauru and Papua New Guinea. Trump’s anger over the agreement led to a tense phone call with Turnbull in January and an angry tweet in which the president called the deal “dumb.”

“President Trump has made it clear that we’ll honor the agreement — that doesn’t mean we admire the agreement,” Pence said during a joint news conference with Turnbull.

So some small American towns and cities are going to get illegal aliens (mostly Muslim men) who failed to be approved for asylum in Australia! Disgusting!
Here is a portion of a letter from the chairmen of both the House and Senate Judiciary Committees sent to the Obama Administration in November identifying which countries the illegal aliens are from (the “stateless” are most likely Rohingya from Bangladesh or Burma).

All of our posts on the Australian “dumb deal” are here.
And, by the way, beginning in 2012, I testified at US Dept. of State hearings that there were ten reasons a moratorium on refugee admissions should be put in place.  One thing I said must be done is to stop using the refugee program to move people around the world just to address some other foreign policy objective.
Only people who are truly refugees, in need of humanitarian assistance, should be considered for resettlement.  This Australia deal is exactly what I had in mind when I presented my testimony.  This deal is only to help the Turnbull government out of a sticky situation. Here is my #7:

7)   Congress needs to specifically disallow the use of the refugee program for other purposes of the US Government, especially using certain refugee populations to address unrelated foreign policy objectives—Uzbeks, Kosovars, Meshketians and Bhutanese (Nepalese) people come to mind.

Let the White House know how you feel by clicking here (do it even if you have done it before!).

And, Chairmen Grassley and Goodlatte are not off the hook either, they could pressure this White House (they were all too happy to pressure the Obama White House) on the subject!

Australia plans to take mostly Syrian Christians for resettlement…

Okay, that sounds reasonable and sensible except for one thing!

Australia is pawning off over 1,000 mostly Muslim asylum seekers presently housed in offshore detention centers on to the US.  What are we nuts!
Here is the news (at Christian Daily) about Australia’s magnanimous gesture toward Christian Syrians:

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turbull’s government has prioritized persecuted Syrian Christian refugees over their Muslim counterparts in a program that provides homes to 10,000 asylum seekers who have passed a stringent screening process.

So Prime Minister Turnbull is going to prioritize Christian refugees and hand off THEIR rejected Muslims to us? Come on Donald get back to why we elected you!

The Australian government has now issued the 12,000 visas previously promised to Syrian refugees and is set to resettle the asylum seekers mostly in New South Wales. Although it seems Prime Minister Turnbull has not yet revealed the religious composition of the resettled refugees, the Daily Telegraph has learned that around three quarters of the migrants who were processed were persecuted Christians.

The refugees in the resettlement program had to go through a strict security screening process to make sure that no radicalized foreign fighters make their way into Australia. The program, which was first announced by former prime minister Tony Abbott, was previously met with opposition by those who are against prioritizing refugees of any religion.

[….]

In December, The Australian columnist Angela Shanahan called on the Australian government to take in more Christian refugees fleeing persecution in the Middle East. She said many refugees who are merely fleeing war have the chance to return to their homeland, but these Christians can never return.

Shanahan also highlighted the potential eradication of Christianity in the faith’s cradle in the Middle East. For her, not taking into account a refugee’s religion is “blind” obedience to Australia’s immigration policy, and added that their country cannot ignore religion when processing resettlement of asylum seekers because these people fled their country because of religious persecution.

Trump Administration proceeding with Obama's Australian "dumb deal"

In a story about whether Australia’s illegal alien/asylum seekers housed on Nauru and Manus islands had another choice to go to another country besides the US (no, there isn’t another choice except for the previously offered Cambodia), we learn that Trump has sent a team to those islands to begin the screening process.
Here is the news from News Corp Australia:
(Don’t forget, most of the aliens held in offshore detention centers are from Muslim countries.)

THE immigration department chief has confirmed Australia is not negotiating with any other countries to find refugee resettlement places for people on Nauru and Manus Island who miss out on going to the US.

Even after riots that burned a portion of the detention center, Australian leftists want them as their neighbors. Why should US towns get them? Photo: http://www.ibtimes.com/asylum-australia-one-killed-many-injured-asylum-seekers-riot-papua-new-guinea-detention-camp-manus

Asked what happens to the refugees who miss out on America, department secretary Michael Pezzullo said there was scope for them to stay in Papua New Guinea, on Nauru or go to Cambodia.

Out of five refugees who went to Cambodia, only one is left — the rest went back to their countries of origin, despite the $55 million budgeted for the deal.

Mr Pezzullo rubbished suggestions the US may take no refugees under the resettlement deal with Australia.

“I don’t agree it could be zero,” Mr Pezzullo told a Senate inquiry hearing in Canberra late on Monday night. He said the agreement was for in the ballpark of 1250.

[….]

The deal was struck with the Obama administration and will reluctantly be honoured by new US President Donald Trump, who branded it a “dumb deal”.

[….]

The hearing was told there are teams of US Homeland Security officials on Nauru doing fingerprinting and security interviews who will then go on to Manus Island in April and May. Medical screening would follow.

Department official Rachel Noble said America had not set any parameters around the country-of-origin of refugees that it will accept, despite a 90-day travel ban to the US by citizens of six Muslim countries — Yemen, Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia and Sudan.

If we start to admit the ‘refugees’ Australia does not want to take to its homeland, we need to demand to know which lucky US towns and cities will get them!

Comment worth noting: African gangs running amok in Australia

Editor: From time to time we post comments we want to feature fearing you might miss them where they were posted. This is from a regular reader from Australia responding to a comment by ‘Lower Tones’ at this post.
You might also want to see my previous post this morning on the “dumb” Australian deal, here.
Fatherjon (emphasis is mine):

Lower Tones: You got it in one – cheap, compliant labour! Forget all the heart-wrenching, wrist-wringing emotive stuff about looking after our fellows in need, ‘it’s all about the economy, stupid’. That certainly seems to be the case in America. However we’re finding in Australia that most of our Middle Eastern and African migrant-refugees are still unemployed 5 years after arrival!

australia-refugee-protestor
Australia too is being roiled by Leftist protesters demanding Middle Eastern and African refugees be admitted. http://nation.com.pk/international/04-Feb-2017/trump-s-refugee-order-triggers-protests-across-australia

The less disingenuous ones admit that they didn’t come here to work, they expected that our much vaunted welfare system, based on the ‘cradle to grave’ theory, would give them a living wage and free housing, education and health for the rest of their lives. Nobody mentioned work back in the village!

Consequently when their teenager offspring find that the welfare system is actually not as salubrious as they expected, and that they only receive modest unemployment benefits, cheap housing in fairly run down suburbs and education in the least desirable schools, they turn to drugs and crime.

Melbourne is currently in a crime wave with African gangs of thugs running amok, robbing, raping and pillaging. The state government tries to pretend that it’s not happening, but few voters will agree as the Labor govt. will find out at the next election.

And, just yesterday we have corroboration of that as  Sudanese youth gangs reportedly robbed and beat up Australian teens in a Melbourne suburb—Youth stampede at Caroline Springs, here. (Hat tip: Diana).
You can see why Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is between a rock and a hard place on that Australian refugee deal with the US.  Most voters in Australia don’t want more phony ‘refugees’ permitted on the mainland, while the usual Leftist ‘humanitarian’ agitators are pressing for the government to close offshore detention centers and bring those who tried to illegally reach Australia by boat to Australian towns and cities.
The globalists won’t admit it, but this drive for one (borderless) world (where labor flows freely!) is what has patriotic citizens everywhere wanting to throw the bums out!
