As economy crumbles, Greece becomes number-one target for asylum seekers

Invasion of Europe news…..

It boggles my mind that all of this horrendous news coming out of Europe rarely makes it to the US media.  Only when one of the illegal migrant ships sink do we hear about it.  Why is that?  Is the media in America afraid to show what uncontrolled immigration is doing to Europe?  For God’s sake the European continent is being invaded!  Americans need to know!

This photo of aliens detained on the Greek island of Kos is from April when 100 migrants were arriving per day. Now we learn the number has risen to 900 to 2000 per day across the islands. Photo and story here: http://www.msf.org/article/greece-alarming-increase-number-refugees-arriving-greek-islands-and-assistance-urgently

Here is the latest on Greek islands being overrun by mostly Middle Easterners.
From the International Business Times (emphasis mine):

The camp on the Greek island of Lesvos had been built with room for perhaps 600 people, but more than 3,000 were crammed into the facility on a recent day. Refugees had arrived from Syria, Afghanistan and other nations so rife with violence and poverty that Greece seemed a place of tranquility.

They had trekked 40 miles from the northern port where ships land to the city of Mytilene, after enduring dangerous sea crossings that often end in death or coast guard rescue. Some were now sleeping in an old army camp that had been turned into a makeshift shelter. Some lay on sidewalks outside. The camp lacked sufficient food and clean water due to the sheer numbers of people arriving. Aid workers with the United Nations worked the cobblestone streets, picking up litter in an effort to keep the situation tolerable. They worried that if anyone fell ill, disease would spread like wildfire.

“Unless there is a change very rapidly in capital control, we are afraid we will see an increase in the deterioration of the situation,” said Eugenio Imbrosi of the International Organization of Migration.

This dire situation will likely worsen as the Greek government contends with own crisis — an economic unraveling — and as regional conflagrations sends a widening volume of migrants and asylum seekers to Greek shores. Estimates for daily arrivals range from 900 to 2000 per day across the islands, according to municipal mayors and the Red Cross. Greece has overtaken Italy as the European country with the most new migrants arriving per day.

Why Greece now?  Because there is no money for border security!

Europeans watching Greece’s economic catastrophe might struggle to imagine why anyone would risk his or her life to get to Greece. Yet the economic crisis gripping Greece is precisely what makes it so appealing to refugees: in the face of national budget cuts, every government agency including border control has been diminished, making landfall for refugees less risky than before. The greater the numbers of people arriving, the greater the economic burden on cash-strapped small towns that house refugees.

Middle Easterners bring their centuries-old conflicts with them!

Near the end of a long article we learn this!

Due to suffocating conditions, riots have broken out in some of the refugee camps between Syrians and Afghans. In the past six months, riots started between the two groups because of political and historic tensions. Some Syrians considered the Afghans as part of a Taliban population. The Afghans often don’t speak Arabic and were offended by a perceived superiority complex in the Syrians. “So we’re having the same war right here right now,” said Andriotis, comparing it to the situation that caused these refugees to flee their home countries.

Read it all here.
It is only a matter of time before we see these same tensions in the US as we are resettling, in the case of the Iraqis for instance, almost an equal number of Shiite Muslims and Sunni Muslims.

Obama's illegal 'refugee' resettlement program for Central American 'children' up and running

The Obama Administration is writing refugee law with its new Central American Minors “refugee” resettlement plan.  And, apparently Congress is unwilling to defend its power under the Constitution. So what else is new!

The “children” won’t need to ride in on top of a train. We are flying them in just as we do refugees from around the world. http://www.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archives/2015/02/09/immigration-officials-announce-an-in-country-refugee-parole-program-for-central-american-minors

This so-called Central American Minors Refugee/Parole Program (known as CAM) has simply rewritten the definition of the word refugee.  Legitimate refugees are by international law and US law supposed to be able to prove they have been persecuted for one of several reasons—religion, political view, membership in certain groups, and race.
People looking to improve their economic condition are not refugees!    See my earlier post here for more.
This is a good article at Newsday, focused mostly on the NY, Long Island area but it gives us some useful updated information.  Thanks to reader Chris for sending it.
There is also a map which shows where the tens of thousands of ‘children’ (mostly teenage boys) were distributed around the US in the last year or so.
Ostensibly the program is meant to stem the illegal invasion of the border, but it isn’t.  It is really, in my view, meant to expand the definition of ‘refugees’ and eventually, I predict, it will be available to other poor people in other third world hellholes way beyond Central America.
I’ve snipped just a small amount of the article, but there is much more so please read the whole thing!

Hundreds of Central American children are seeking to come to Long Island and other parts of the nation on a new path carved by President Barack Obama for minors “at risk of harm” in their home countries, according to a federal agency and a local resettlement group.

Children from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala who prove they are fleeing danger will be placed on flights to airports where their parents will meet them. The number coming will be limited by the program’s rules, as well as yearly quotas for refugees from Latin America and the Caribbean, officials said.

Refugee contractors monopolize the program!

Rep. Peter King, chairman of important House Homeland Security subcommittee is OK with this illegal expansion of refugee law!

In this next section we get further evidence that this program is also a boon to our usual cabal of ‘non-profit’ resettlement contractors because they are PAID to process the children.  One is not even permitted to use other help to process in one’s children, applications must go through groups like Catholic Charities!
Newsday continues:

As of June, about 200 petitions had been filed under the new initiative by immigrants seeking to legally bring their children to Long Island — mostly from El Salvador — and another 200 were waiting to file their requests, said Carmen Maquilon, immigrant refugee services director at Catholic Charities in Amityville. The nonprofit is the only group authorized in Nassau and Suffolk counties to file those requests for admission as refugees or immigration parole recipients with the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.

[…]

Applications reported

The U.S. Department of State, which administers the new program for minors, reported receiving 1,385 individual applications from throughout the United States as of June 8 — 1,139 for children in El Salvador, 21 for children in Guatemala and 225 for children in Honduras. The agency did not say how many of the applications were from New York.

So much for help from Congress!

U.S. Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford), whose district includes communities where many immigrants’ kids have resettled, said he is not opposed to the refugee program.

 More here.

Investigation needed!

Back in 2013, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (one of nine federal resettlement contractors) sent a delegation to Central America and returned to write a report that predicted that 60,000 unaccompanied alien children would flood our southern border in 2014.  They hit the number almost exactly on the head.  I’ve wondered ever since if they were good guessers or if they actually went to Central America and LIT THE FUSE on the invasion.   Here is one post where I mention my theory.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if some investigative reporter dug into what happened on that Bishops’ trip in 2013!
By the way, the Catholic Charities office mentioned in the Newsday article is a subcontractor of the USCCB.
All of our posts on the illegal alien ‘children’ going back many years, are archived with the phrase ‘unaccompanied minors.‘  Today, I primarily use the phrase ‘unaccompanied alien children.’

US Senator asks: Did ORR endanger Unaccompanied Alien Children?

Whew!  This is some incredible bit of news about Unaccompanied Alien Children who might have been trafficked with the help of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, the agency charged with keeping them safe.

Some of the ‘children’ may have been handed over to traffickers once in the US!

From the Columbus Dispatch (hat tip: Julie):

A federal indictment that charged four people with illegally smuggling Guatemalan teenagers into the United States and forcing them to work at Ohio egg farms indicates that some of the teens had gone through an immigration process that might have put them directly into the hands of the traffickers.

Republican U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, chairman of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and co-chairman of the Senate Caucus to End Human Trafficking, said that’s alarming.

He sent a letter on Monday demanding answers from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees the process for unaccompanied minors who come into this country and are then apprehended by immigration officials.

According to the charges against those accused of running the forced-labor ring, at least five of the victims had been through a process involving the Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in which unaccompanied immigrant children are placed under the care and custody of the ORR office.

Federal law requires that that office be responsible for all aspects of their care until a sponsor comes forward and seeks custody. ORR’s website refers to its “strong policies” in place because “these children may have histories of abuse or may be seeking safety from threats of violence. They may have been trafficked or smuggled.”

The government’s website says that sponsors are generally family members, must have passed a background check and must agree that they will adequately care for the children, keep them safe from abuse and cooperate with the immigration process.

In this case, the indictment said the traffickers recruited vulnerable Guatemalan juveniles and brought them to the U.S., then arranged to “have an associate falsely represent himself to immigration officials as the victim’s family friend and submit fraudulent Family Reunification Applications to ORR.”

Over the years we have written often about the Unaccompanied Alien Children which were previously referred to as Unaccompanied Minors. So all of our posts are archived under that second term—Unaccompanied Minors.

Germany being overrun by refugees, police say they can't process them all

Invasion of Europe news…..

Communist icon Angela Davis recently traveled to Germany, met with refugees and said that the refugee movement was THE movement of the 21st Century. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2015/05/19/communist-icon-angela-davis-the-refugee-movement-is-the-movement-of-the-21st-century/

From Deutsche Welle:

Police in Bavaria admit they don’t have the resources to fingerprint all newcomers. In the first half of the year, almost 180,000 people – many from Syria and Iraq – applied for asylum in Germany.

Border authorities in Bavaria have given up trying to take the fingerprints of all the refugees entering the country, reported “Der Spiegel” on Monday.

The revelations came as officials acknowledged that close to 180,000 people claimed asylum in Germany in the first half of the year.

Quoting an unnamed senior police union official, the magazine said that up to 300 people were able to cross the German-Austria border each day without proper registration due to a lack of resources.

Local media reported that around 45,000 people have entered the country this year without being properly processed by authorities.

As trial opens for Idaho refugee alleged terrorist, Idaho Statesman reports on refugee program

Twin Falls, Idaho has become a “Pocket of Resistance” (federal government’s term!) to refugee resettlement where citizens are asking questions and expecting answers about the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program. (See all of our coverage on Twin Falls by clicking here.) Although the Statesman reporter is trying really hard to put a positive spin on the lengthy article, the article itself is a win for the local citizens who want answers.  A year ago there would never have even been this much attention on Uzbek refugee Fazliddin Kurbanov’s trial or the federal program that placed him in rural Idaho.

Trial began this week for alleged Islamic terrorist Fazliddin Kurbanov, a refugee from Uzbekistan. http://boisestatepublicradio.org/post/trial-start-uzbek-refugee-facing-terrorism-charge-boise-0

I’ve snipped just a little bit of the article, but please go read the whole thing! By the way, all of our previous coverage of the alleged Uzbek terrorist is here.  As we have reported in the past, there is something very fishy about the admission of a large number of Uzbeks during the Bush Administration. Some observers believe that after the extremists began rioting, we brought Islamic radicals here to help out the more moderate Muslim President of Uzbekistan. I’ve even heard rumors that they were flown in with the help of the CIA.  It wouldn’t be the first time that we brought supposed ‘refugees’ here for some other foreign policy goal of the US government. We will probably never know whether there is any substance to the rumors. The Idaho Statesman:

Some 80,000 people came to the United States as refugees in 2009, nearly 1,300 of them to Idaho. One of those arrivals, an Uzbek who landed in Boise, was later charged as a bomb-making terrorist. His trial starts Monday.

Citizens want answers!

Overwhelmingly, refugee stories fall into the more positive, and typically more mundane, camp. Even so, opposition to refugees and concerns about their backgrounds persist, getting the occasional boost from new threats, incidents or shifts in refugee policy.

The recent U.S. pledge to resettle several thousand of the estimated 4 million Syrian refugees displaced by war is prompting renewed concern in Idaho. That’s loudest around Twin Falls, where the College of Southern Idaho has worked to resettle refugees since 1982. It now assists up to 300 people annually, and a local group has mobilized in protest.

“We’re not against refugees,” said Rick Martin, of Buhl, who leads the group that wants the college to end the program. “We’re against this program because there’s just so many unanswered questions that are not being addressed.”

What the heck!  Act of bias! Wendy Olson has just demonstrated her bias by suggesting that concerned citizens might be violent.

With the trial of Fazliddin Kurbanov set to start, U.S. Attorney for Idaho Wendy Olson announced on Friday that her office and other law enforcement agencies are on high alert for potential acts of bias against members of the refugee and Muslim communities.

We are told repeatedly (lectured actually!) that refugees are thoroughly screened,  but we aren’t supposed to notice every time a terrorist turns up in the refugee flow?

But what looms larger for concerned opponents is not that forest of millions, but the lone tree, such as an Uzbek in Boise who gained entry to the U.S. despite security checks that were supposed to stop him. Kurbanov is accused of planning bomb attacks at military bases and large public venues. He was arrested in May 2013 after FBI agents raided his Boise apartment and found chemicals and bomb-making components.

Measured against a population of millions, cases like Kurbanov’s are exceedingly rare but still cause for concern. The 2013 Boston bombings were committed by refugee brothers from Chechnya. With the rise of the Islamic State in the war-ravaged Syria in 2011, those who oppose refugees say greater risks could be on the horizon.

It is not just terrorism that concerns local residents…

“For our committee, even if they had said the Syrians are not coming, we would still pursue getting the college out of the refugee business,” said Martin, who with others has worked for years to install new college trustees who would end the program. “They need to focus on their core mission, which is to continue to be a center of higher learning for adults.”

Martin said his group, which counts more than 100 members on a closed Facebook page, also objects to the overall cost of refugee resettlement, its effect on the local job market and the “slumlike” conditions in which he says refugees are housed. [We hear this all the time—refugees in slums—and it’s because the contractors don’t want to spend too much money on them.  So instead of saying that we are taking more refugees than America can afford, let’s reduce the numbers, they live in slum housing.—ed]

This post is archived in our ‘Pockets of Resistance’ category as an example of the fine work citizens are doing in demanding transparency and economic accountability when refugees are resettled in local communities.  Media attention is vitally important.
An afterthought:  I just looked again at the AP story where I got the photo and realized that the title identifies Kurbanov as a “refugee.”  When I first began exposing the Refugee Program, the word ‘refugee’ was virtually never mentioned in any negative story about a refugee, let alone in a title!
