So who has been coming to America via refugee “recruitment” this fiscal year

We are half way through fiscal year 2014 (it began on October 1, 2013).

By the way, “recruitment” is the word being used by opponents of Gov. Matt Meads idea to resettle refugees in Wyoming, and I like it.  The word “resettlement” is getting stale and I’ve noticed the refugee industry using it less and less as well.  They seem to be favoring the word “placement” instead.

President Barack Obama set a cap of 70,000 refugees to be placed in your cities and towns for this fiscal year in his annual determination letter of Oct. 2, 2013.

In accordance with section 207 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (the “Act”) (8 U.S.C. 1157), as amended, and after appropriate consultations with the Congress, I hereby make the following determinations and authorize the following actions:

The admission of up to 70,000 refugees to the United States during fiscal year (FY) 2014 is justified by humanitarian concerns or is otherwise in the national interest; provided that this number shall be understood as including persons admitted to the United States during FY 2014 with Federal refugee resettlement assistance under the Amerasian immigrant admissions program, as provided below.

The 70,000 cap does not include asylum seekers/asylees which number in the tens of thousands, those receiving temporary protected status (TPS), and diversity visa lottery winners (another 50,000!).

Note that there is a 2,000 unallocated reserve which is where some get the number of Syrians that we might admit.  Many Syrians are getting into the US by other means and signing up for TPS or asking for asylum, but we have not begun, nor has the President announced, how many Syrians we are going to take.  I read that as something must be going on behind the scenes for the flood gates not to have been opened yet.

So, six months in, where are we?

Check out this database at WRAPS.net.  In an effort to keep you in the dark, the feds have removed some data bases that previously were available to the public.  One missing set of data that I found especially useful was the one with ‘arrivals by city and country’ (where you could see which ethnic groups were being resettled in your city).  At least they still have the ‘arrivals by state and country’ so you can see how many you are getting in your state and from where they are coming.

For my purposes right now, I’m looking at ‘map arrivals by nationality.’   For the first six months of the year the US State Department admitted 32,810 refugees.   This is the order for the top countries, smaller numbers come from dozens of other countries.  Iraqis top the list as they did last year.

Iraq:  9,394

Burma:  6,781

Bhutan: 4,424

Somalia:  3,708

Cuba:  2,154

Iran:  1,470

Dem. Rep. Congo: 1,381

Sudan:  861

Eritrea:  842

Afghanistan:  382

A couple of other countries of interest are Colombia (204) and we admitted 90 Palestinians.

Where are the Syrians?

26 Syrians have been admitted so far this year.  The US is under enormous media pressure generated by the ‘human rights industry’ to admit Syrians, so again, there must be some serious squabbling going on behind the scenes in the the State Department and the Dept. of Homeland Security for this number to be so small at this point in the year.  Maybe there are members of Congress flexing some muscle (for a change!)?

Albany, NY: Another brutal crime by an Iraqi refugee; major media breakthrough

The US State Department and their Catholic contractor should be shaken by this one.

The crime is nothing new, but the reporting sure is!

Iraqi refugee could get 25 years for brutal rape

Here is what happened according to the Albany Times Union and reporter Robert Gavin (emphasis below is mine):

Albany

A jury needed less than two hours on Thursday to convict an Iraqi refugee of brutally raping a 19-year-old woman behind a trash bin in Colonie after meeting her at a downtown bar last year.

Salam Al Haideri, 24, of Niskayuna, faces 25 years in prison after the jury of nine men and three women found him guilty of predatory sex assault and first-degree rape.

Al Haideri and a friend had met the victim, whom neither man knew, at the Buddha Tea House club on North Pearl Street in the pre-dawn hours of June 2, 2013. The 4-foot-11 woman got in their car and, during the ride, Al Haideri touched her. She said she wanted to go home and she and Al Haideri argued. When Al Haideri’s friend stopped the car, Al Haideri yanked the woman out of the car and took her behind a trash bin behind “I Love NY” pizzeria on Central Avenue by Vly Road, Cleary said.

Al Haideri smashed the victim’s face into the pavement, ripped open her shorts and raped her for 12 minutes as she begged him to stop, Cleary said.

“This is an act of just pure anger,” Cleary told jurors. “When she started to fight back, he beat her into submission and then he took what he believed he was entitled to.”

Cleary showed the jury a photo of the victim smiling before she went out that night. She then contrasted that with an image of the woman at Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she lay bloody, beaten and bandaged.

“Someone just doesn’t come out of a consensual sexual encounter looking like that,” a man on the jury said after the verdict.

Breakthrough in media coverage!

Here is the most important part of the story at the Times Union, and for this we owe reporter Robert Gavin a debt of gratitude.  When we first began RRW back in 2007 (and for years until most recently),  stories like this one would describe the convicted rapist as an “immigrant who found his way” to Albany—the ‘R’ word was never mentioned!

Not only is the sacrosanct word “refugee” mentioned here, but the Iraqi criminal’s resettlement through a “federally funded program” and by Catholic Charities under contract to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops is discussed!

Al Haideri is the third Middle East refugee — all brought to the Capital Region under the same federally funded resettlement program — to be convicted of a sex crime since 2010.

The conviction follows the sex crime convictions of Walid Nehma, 30, an Iraqi refugee who once was a housemate of Al Haideri, and Salah Mhawesh, 34, an Egyptian refugee. All three settled in the Capital Region with help of a program run by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany under a contract with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Migration and Refugee Services.

In December 2009, Nehma struck a woman in the face, forced her to the ground, tore her pants open and tried to rape her as she screamed for help in a desolate area next to Capital Repertory Theater. He is serving a 5-year sentence at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Washington County for attempted rape and is due to be released on Dec. 3. Mhawesh pleaded guilty in 2012 to first-degree sex abuse of a woman in his home on Central Avenue. He was sentenced to one year in the Albany County jail, which became time served.

When Al Haideri testified Wednesday, Cleary also questioned him about the assistance he received in jailhouse conversations with Jacqueline Foster, 73, of Niskayuna, his foster mother in the refugee resettlement program.

Al Haideri lived with Foster, who had also allowed Nehma to live with her family for a time.

Incredible!!!

Reporters and thus the public are beginning to understand how it is we have so many refugees living in especially “preferred resettlement sites” like Albany.

Note also the sickening story from Syracuse earlier in the week about a Catholic Church becoming a mosque—that conversion was attributed to an increase in the ‘refugee’ population there, so bit by bit (hopefully) the political correctness that has dominated the mainstream media and kept it silent about the Refugee Program of the US State Department/UN is disappearing.

LOL!  The next step is to bill the US State Department for the refugee criminal trials occurring with greater frequency now!  And, while they are at it they could foot the bill for his next 25 years behind bars as well (and maybe the Catholic Bishops could throw in some cash too!).

Wyoming, are you ready for this?

Diversity is strength alert!

Remember this from April of  2012: an Iraqi man whose wife wanted a divorce apparently created a fictional hate crime to cover up the bloody murder of his wife.

This all happened at about the same time as the Trayvon Martin story was making headlines.

This is what we said on April 1, 2012:

CAIR and the Muslim grievance lobby are trying oh-so-hard to elevate this tragic murder of a young Iraqi mother in California to be on par with the Trayvon Martin circus in Florida.   I’ve been reading about the case elsewhere and there is something fishy about it.

The Reuters story at the time even dragged in the scumbags at the Southern Poverty Law Center!

Now, on Tuesday, at the Times of San Diego:

Opening statements are scheduled for Tuesday in the murder trial of an Iraqi immigrant accused of fatally beating his wife in their El Cajon home after she asked for a divorce.

Kassim Alhimidi, 49, is charged with killing Shaima Alawadi, 32, also an Iraqi immigrant.

The defendant was arrested on Nov. 8, 2012, by El Cajon police in what was first thought to be a hate crime. His wife was found mortally injured with at least six head wounds in their Skyview Street residence eight months earlier.

First-responders found a note in the home that read, “This is my country, go back to yours, terrorist.”

How many Iraqis in America?  Who knows?  Remember there were earlier waves of Iraqis being resettled here prior to the latest huge wave.

From 2007 until April 30, 2013, we resettled 84,000 Iraqi nationals to the US.   So, by now we have surely surpassed the 100,000 mark with more on the way.  From the USCIS:

Since the inception of the program in 2007, 203,321 Iraqi nationals have been referred to the USRAP for resettlement to the United States. USCIS has interviewed 142,670 Iraqi refugee applicants; approved 119,202 for resettlement and, 84,902 Iraqi refugees have arrived in the United States.

Horrible story!

Gee, wonder what these refugee criminals cost the local court system in Sioux Falls, SD?

And, who is resettling refugees in South Dakota?  Oh, it’s the Lutherans again!

But, but, but, didn’t Wyoming’s governor just say yesterday that refugees are screened before getting here?  Tell that to the woman in Colorado, or how about the people of Kentucky.

An Iraqi refugee who sold several women and girls for sex at his Sioux Falls apartment will spend the rest of his life in prison after U.S. District Court Judge Karen Schreier agreed with victims who called him a “monster.”

A jury convicted Mohammed Alaboudi in December on four counts of sex trafficking. His lawyer asked for the same 30-year sentence given last April to a co-conspirator, Emannuel Nyoun. But the judge noted that Nyoun had victimized just one young woman, while Alaboudi had hurt many, many more.

House of horrors!

Four victims, identified only by their initials, recounted during Monday’s hearing the physical and sexual abuse against them at the hands of the 45-year-old Alaboudi. Earlier at trial, many of them had testified how he had given them drugs and shelter to lure them into dependency and prostitution, using his one-bedroom apartment in central Sioux Falls as headquarters for what U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson has called “a house of horrors.”  [How much do you want to bet his apartment was subsidized by the taxpayers!—ed]

The defendant, who purposely drugged the girls and raped them repeatedly, then allowed his cohorts to come in” and do the exact same thing, Koliner said.

One of the victims who testified Monday, a young woman named S.J., said Alaboudi would call them “worthless.” She said she was “used as a toy over and over.”  [Worthless because they were infidels to him?—ed]

“I couldn’t clean myself enough; it didn’t work,” she said. “Me, at age 14, was locked in a room with a man I had never met before, and I was forced to have sex with him.”

As I have said before, if the US State Department had to pay for expensive criminal trials and incarceration of refugees they agree to resettle, it might make them and Congress take notice!

What is the population of Middle Eastern and North African immigrants in your state?

I was looking for something else, and I’ll post it when I find it, but the Migration Policy Institute, last fall, published this useful information on MENA immigrants in America.  Who knew that there was even a separate category for them.

Before you read on, just a reminder that the Migration Policy Institute is a pro-open-borders Leftie-funded (Soros et al) ‘think tank,’ (we wrote a lengthy post on them here in 2011), however, since the Left needs this data too (LOL! for voter outreach), I doubt they would mess with stats like these.

MPI says the top 5 states for MENAs are:  California, New York, Michigan, Texas and New Jersey.  It looks like Virginia and Florida are not far behind!

Migration Policy Institute:

Political unrest and violent conflict have displaced millions in Syria and other parts of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) since late 2010, generating significant international interest in immigrants and refugees from the region.

In the United States, the September 11, 2001 attacks and subsequent military intervention in Iraq in 2003 also drew heightened — and sometimes unwanted — attention to the highly diverse MENA immigrant populations in the country, many of whom are Muslim. Yet immigrants from the MENA region have a long history in the United States. As early as 1920, the country was home to at least 50,000 immigrants from the region, primarily from what was then Palestine and Syria, including present-day Lebanon. Their numbers have steadily grown over the past few decades, and in 2012, about 961,000 immigrants from the region resided in the United States, representing just above 2 percent of the nation’s 40.8 million immigrants.

Iraqis are the largest single-country immigrant population from this region, followed closely by Egyptians. The number of immigrants from Saudi Arabia and Yemen has also grown rapidly over the past decade.

Compared to other immigrant groups, the foreign born from the MENA region are better educated and tend to have higher levels of English proficiency, but have comparatively lower rates of labor force participation.  [So, are they living off the US taxpayer?—ed]

There are lots of links to follow for more information, here are just two bullet points I followed.  If you have a feeling the speed of their arrival has increased, the answer is Yes!

Forty-five percent of foreign born from the MENA region in the United States arrived in 2000 or later.
In 2011, 45 percent of MENA foreign born had entered the country in 2000 or later, with 25 percent having arrived between 1990 and 1999, 15 percent between 1980 and 1989, and the remaining 16 percent prior to 1980.

MENA men and women don’t like to work!

Immigrant men and women from the MENA region were less likely to participate in the civilian labor force than were foreign-born men and women overall.
In 2011, foreign-born men ages 16 and older from the MENA region were less likely to participate in the civilian labor force (72 percent) than were all foreign-born men (78 percent). Foreign-born women from MENA countries were also less likely to participate in the labor force (42 percent) than were all immigrant women (57 percent).

Among men, Algerians (91 percent) and Sudanese (87 percent) had the highest labor force participation rates, while Iraqis (65 percent) and Saudis (23 percent) had the lowest labor force participation.

Consider that we resettled 19,491 Iraqis in the US in 2013, here, and are on target to admit a similar number this year, it sure looks like the US taxpayer is going to be supporting a large percentage of them.  And, by the way, who the heck are all those (rich?) Saudis getting into the US, and through what legal program?
