Stopping hate is really about stopping debate!

If you are in DC next week, you might want to stop by the National Press Club on Thursday for what should be a steamy session as the Center for Immigration Studies releases a new report on the tactics used by the Southern Poverty Law Center against anyone who disagrees with them on immigration (or anything else for that matter).

WASHINGTON (March 10, 2010) – After the collapse of the Senate amnesty bill in 2007, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) joined with the National Council of La Raza and others to launch a campaign to smear the three largest mainstream groups making a case for tighter enforcement and lower immigration. At the center of this campaign was the designation of the Federation for American Immigration Reform as a “hate group” and the spread of that taint to Numbers USA and the Center for Immigration Studies. The announced goal was to pressure journalists and policymakers not to meet or speak with these organizations. Touted as an effort to “stop the hate,” it was a thinly disguised move to stifle debate.

CIS will release a report next week examining the SPLC and its role in this campaign. “Immigration and the SPLC: How the Southern Poverty Law Center Invented a Smear, Served La Raza, Manipulated the Press, and Duped its Donors,” authored by Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Jerry Kammer, will be released at a panel discussion on Thursday, March 18, at 9:30 a.m. at the Murrow Room of the National Press Club, 14th & F streets NW.

Frequent visitors to this blog may remember that the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence from Portland, ME is affiliated with the Southern Poverty Law Center and is planning to “stop any debate” and vilify the citizens in four cities sometime soon.  See my report here.  One of those cities is nearby Frederick, MD.

I previously wrote about the Southern Poverty Law Center, here, when I wrote about their front man, Mark Potok, in a post that although over a year old is visited daily at RRW.

Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services is looking for a Washington lobbyist

This is nothing new, refugee agencies hiring lobbyists.  They need to keep advocating in DC for more refugees, more taxpayer funding for their programs and to promote amnesty for illegal aliens.   That’s all well and good, but they are likely using your taxpayer money to pay for their lobbyist!  Is it stimulous money?   I sure hope the US State Department that funds their Washington office ostensibly because they resettle refugees is keeping an eye on how they use your money!  They can’t lobby with your money!

Here is LIRS job announcement for their “advocate.”   It is  full time with excellent benefits!

The Director for Advocacy contributes to the mission of LIRS and serves by: Educating and mobilizing established immigrant and refugee communities and Lutheran and non-affiliated individuals, who are interested in our mission of welcome, to act, with us, in solidarity with newly-arrived immigrants and refugees; Influencing U.S. policy makers to facilitate policies that promote greater justice and mercy for those we serve. The Director for Advocacy is responsible for developing a capacity for educating and mobilizing action on LIRS-related policy and legislative work. The Director for Advocacy helps shape LIRS advocacy goals and leads the process of developing an annual cross-departmental, cross-unit advocacy plan.

You can bet whoever is filling this role now is busy “mobilizing” for the big march on DC scheduled for March 21st (the day after the Marxists and Muslims march).

LIRS supports amnesty for illegals, here, and what a coincidence they plan to be in DC for the marches.  They will be in town to demonstrate with the Communists on Saturday and the immigrants on Sunday!

Their lobbyist is listed here at the White House in August getting orders on Amnesty along with the big businesses that need cheap labor.

By the way, I see these sneaky little boogers don’t file an IRS Form 990.  They probably use the “church” exemption.

Furor over Fox! Are we seeing the Saudi influence at Fox News

Update:  One of many good commentaries on how Beck screwed up big time, here.  And, here is Mark Steyn on Krauthammer.

I had a slew of e-mails this morning on what Fox News did last night on Geert Wilders.  I saw some of it myself and was disgusted by what appeared a joint plan between Glenn Beck and Fox’s Special Report to trash Wilders.  Unfortunately my time is limited this morning so I urge you to read Jerry Gordon’s post at New English Review to find out what all the anger is about.   We at RRW admire Wilders very much and predict Krauthammer (who I usually count on to know the facts) and company will come to eat their words!

Immigration reform (aka Amnesty) bill on the horizon

I mentioned this the other day when I told you about the upcoming demonstration for open borders scheduled for March 21st in Washington, DC (that’s the one where the refugee resettlement agencies plan to demonstrate when they should be busying themselves taking care of the tens of thousands of refugees they are bringing into the country.)

Now that the Obama Administration has the country thoroughly angry he is signalling that the Administration is willing to make people even angrier by promoting amnesty.

See the Wall Street Journal this morning on the latest gambit—a National identification card for us all.  Where in the Constitution does it say that the federal government can track ordinary law-abiding citizens?

Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.

Under the potentially controversial plan still taking shape in the Senate, all legal U.S. workers, including citizens and immigrants, would be issued an ID card with embedded information, such as fingerprints, to tie the card to the worker.

The ID card plan is one of several steps advocates of an immigration overhaul are taking to address concerns that have defeated similar bills in the past.

The uphill effort to pass a bill is being led by Sens. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), who plan to meet with President Barack Obama as soon as this week to update him on their work. An administration official said the White House had no position on the biometric card.

“It’s the nub of solving the immigration dilemma politically speaking,” Mr. Schumer said in an interview. The card, he said, would directly answer concerns that after legislation is signed, another wave of illegal immigrants would arrive. “If you say they can’t get a job when they come here, you’ll stop it.”

The biggest objections to the biometric cards may come from privacy advocates, who fear they would become de facto national ID cards that enable the government to track citizens.

“It is fundamentally a massive invasion of people’s privacy,” said Chris Calabrese, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union. “We’re not only talking about fingerprinting every American, treating ordinary Americans like criminals in order to work. We’re also talking about a card that would quickly spread from work to voting to travel to pretty much every aspect of American life that requires identification.”

Yikes! I’m on the same side as the ACLU!

Hey, Senator Graham, what’s wrong with sealing the borders so potential terrorists like the Somalis that came across the Mexican border in recent months (here and here) can no longer get in?  Deport criminals.  And, then make sure E-verify works.  Seems to me that that is all that is needed to “reform” immigration.

Student visas! Another Muslim immigrant fraud scheme!

We’ve told you about food stamp scams, home health care fraud, drivers license testing schemes, and money transfer scams by immigrants designed to rip off American taxpayers.  But this takes the cake!  Maybe you heard about it tonight on Fox News.  Hat tip: Blulitespecial

A 46 year old American has been arrested for helping more than a hundred Middle Eastern students keep their student visas by taking their tests for them thus allowing them to stay in the US.  It is really outrageous—the California colleges where this happened never noticed that Higgins and his white helpers weren’t the Muslim foreign students!  Unbelievable!

Daniel Higgins doesn’t look like a Middle Eastern student, but officials say he routinely portrayed himself as one for almost a decade, getting paid up to $1,500 per student to attend their classes and take exams so they could keep their visas current and remain in the U.S.

Officials say that records seized from Higgins’ home in Laguna Niguel, Calif., show that more than 100 students from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates hired him to do their classwork and take their tests.

Higgins, 46, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit immigration fraud when he appeared in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana on Monday.

Six others — Mohammed Alnuaim, Abdullah Alhogail, Khalid Almenaibi, Saeed Alfalahi, Ibrahim Almansoori and Mohamed Almehairi — were also arrested Monday and appeared with Higgins before a U.S. magistrate. All were charged with immigration fraud.

“This is unique and not something we have seen in the past,” said Jorge Guzman, a special agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “We don’t know the motive of these men coming from these countries, why they were here or why they were not attending classes.”

ICE agents said some of the foreign students involved in the fraud will be charged with crimes, and others will simply be deported.

Then get this!

Sources said they do not know if any of the men are considered national security threats, but several are “persons of interest.”

So any guesses on what these 100 or so Muslim men were doing when they didn’t have to attend class?
