Security expert, B. Raman, warns of Rohingya connections to terrorism

Update:  I would really like to write a post about this but have no time.  Please watch this little news clip.  A handful of protestors wearing ‘no Rohingya’ shirts supported Myanmar’s President’s earlier proposal to the UN to resettle what they believe are illegal alien Rohingya’s elsewhere.  Having watched this issue evolve I have great sympathy for the Buddhists and others who feel the international media has ganged up on them and has blindly supported the Rohingya claims of persecution.  In the clip note the reporter says 80 have been killed in recent riots and 100,000 displaced but doesn’t say that those killed have been on both sides.  It is left for the viewer to assume those 80 dead are all Rohingya while in fact Rohingya were doing some of the killing and burning!  Frankly it is maddening to watch!  Other than this one report, I have a whole page of alerts today with “oh those poor Rohingya” news stories.

Back to my original post:

…..and boy are they trying to shut him up (B. Raman, that is):

I don’t want to get deep into the weeds of the links previously documented (and removed at the US State Department!*) of some elements of the Burmese/Bangladesh Rohingya population and their possible connection with Bangladesh’s HUJI-B, but I also want to keep our Rohingya Reports archive up-to-date.

So you need to see this article by B. Raman (and here) in the Sri Lanka Guardian and note he is responding to his critics who are attempting to paint the Rohingya as only the poor downtrodden victimized Muslims of Burma (where Buddhist monks have “gone wild” ).

For new readers this is all you need to know—we have begun the resettlement of Rohingya to the US and the federal refugee contractors are agitating for more.

* Gee I wonder if the removal of this list from the US State Department website since Obama took office has any connection with the allegations being made just this morning by former federal prosecutor, Andrew McCarthy, that the State Department has been compromised by Islamists.

At least one news outlet notices the slanted news on Burma’s Rohingya

I’ve got loads of alerts filled with stories from all over the world declaring essentially that “monks have gone wild” killing Rohingya Muslims in Burma.  So, it was a relief to see that at least this one lonely story is reporting that the world news media is slanted in favor of the Muslims (always the victims!)  and is not reporting the whole truth about recent riots in Myanmar (Burma).

Here is Global Voices:

Eight weeks after Rakhine villages were attacked, the violence in western Myanmar continues to be a top news story in the mainstream and social media. While the international community is highlighting the statelessness of the Rohingya, many Myanmar citizens feel that ethnic Rakhine who were also victims during the riots are largely ignored. Moreover, they are accusing international news agencies, including Myanmar exile media, of covering the issue from a one-sided point of view.

Read on.

The NGOs are busy building a case for more Muslim refugees to be resettled in the US.

Update August 3:

Reader sends another report about the mainstream media manipulating the news.  And, it just occurred to me that if there is no persecution against Rohingya then they cannot be deemed refugees.

Here is the story from Dawn.com:

The violence in western Myanmar started from the brutal raping and killing of a Rakhine (formerly known as Arakan) woman by three Muslims, the fact that two of them are reportedly Rohingyas is still a headliner in mainstream media.

The riot occurred in some areas in the Rakhine state, near the border towns of Myanmar and Bangladesh, where most of the population is Rohingya. Despite the riot, other states and divisions throughout the country where a number of Muslims live remained peaceful, proving that the clash was communal-based. Some mainstream media, however, manipulated the news as a religious clash between Muslims and Buddhists in Myanmar.

There is more.

Illegal alien Rohingya Muslims pushing into Assam region in India

I don’t have time to write about it, but in order to keep our Rohingya Reports category up-to-date readers should know that India continues to have problems with thousands of illegal alien Rohingya Muslims from Bangladesh who are causing friction and violence in India’s Assam Region.  Some of the region’s other religious and ethnic groups fear that Islam will soon be the political and religious guiding force for a majority in this region.

Here is just one story on Assam.  My alerts are full of similar stories.

And, just a reminder, the US State Department is listening to pleas from the likes of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops to bring (more!) Rohingya “refugees” here.

The Saudis are hypocrites on Rohingya

Readers:  Why should you care about what is happening in far away Burma’s internal affairs?  Because the humanitarian grievance lobby is working overtime to make the West think that the only solution in the end will be for more Rohingya “refugees” coming to your town with the help of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and other federal refugee contractors.

I wasn’t planning to write another post so soon on the Rohingya problem, but I can’t stand the hypocrisy of the Saudi government and its megaphone—-The Saudi Gazette.

But, here they are pontificating in an editorial on the plight of the allegedly poor persecuted Rohingya in Burma and Bangladesh when there are abundant reports about Muslim Rohingya living in hell in RICH Saudi Arabia.

Here is the hypocritical Saudi Gazette:

WILL Amnesty International’s latest report, released on Friday, open the eyes of the world community to the sad plight of the Rohingya in Myanmar before it is too late?    [Someone! Give them a hanky!—ed]

Mostly concentrated in Myanmar’s western Rakhine state, they have always suffered persecution and discrimination at the hands of local authorities or the majority Buddhists, sometimes both acting in unison. Many have fled the country to escape persecution, mostly to Bangladesh. Nearly 600,000 Rohingya Muslims live in Saudi Arabia, according to one estimate.  [Note here in Demographics of Saudi Arabia there is no mention of any significant number of Burmese—ed]

[….]

Far too long the world community has behaved as though this is a problem concerning only neighboring Bangladesh because of ethnic affinity between Bengalis and the Rohingya. This has only made Myanmar more intransigent and the Rohingya more vulnerable to abuses of every conceivable kind. Amnesty’s latest findings, we hope, will enable the world community to see the problem in right perspective and come out with appropriate solutions.  [LOL! The only thing the Saudis want you to see is that Muslims are the victims—always the victims!–ed]

Meanwhile, we reported previously about allegations that thousands of Rohingya men, women and children are residing in Jeddah prisons, here.

Now check out The Sail, a pro-Rohingya on-line publication on the treatment of Rohingya in Saudi Arabia (Saudi Arabia mistreats Rohingya).

About 3,000 Rohingya families are awaiting deportation in Saudi prisons, but like the rest of their people, they have nowhere to go.

They have been described as some of the world’s most persecuted refugees, and among the most forgotten, too. During my imprisonment in Jeddah I saw and met hundreds of inmates from Burma.

Thousands of Burmese Muslims from Arakan – often called Rohingyas – were offered a safe haven in Saudi Arabia by the late King Faisal, but with the change in monarch the rules changed too. What was to have been a permanent abode of peace for these uprooted people has now turned into a chamber of horrors.

[….]

But the interesting question is: where will they be sent when they are eventually deported? Burma doesn’t want them. Bangladesh, with a large population and poor economy, doesn’t have the inclination or the ability to handle a refugee population of this size. The Rohingyan refugees in Bangladesh are having a rough time as it is. Other Muslim countries play silent spectators.

[….]

The late King Faisal’s decision to offer them a permanent abode in Saudi Arabia was a noble gesture. However, later Saudi rulers have found the Burmese Muslims a thorn in their side. With strict regulation on their employment and movement within the kingdom, they are easy targets for extortion and torture.

There are said to be about 250,000 Burmese Muslims in Saudi Arabia – the majority living in Mecca’s slums (Naqqasha and Kudai). They sell vegetables, sweep streets and work as porters, carpenters and unskilled labour. The fortunate ones rise to become drivers.

In Saudi Arabia it is not uncommon for poor Rohingyas to marry off their young (sometimes underage) daughters to old and sick Saudis in the hope of getting “official favours”. But this hasn’t worked for many. Rohingyan wives of Saudi men, who have to survive as second class human beings on the periphery of society.

Those whom I met in Jeddah prisons seem to have accepted the situation as a fait accompli. But it is unfortunate that they are being made to suffer in a country considered to be the citadel of Islam.

So much for the much ballyhooed Muslim charity.

And, by the way, the Saudis send Somali asylum seekers back to Somalia on a regular basis.  As far as I know the chickens at the Obama State Department are silent about this.

And one more thing, since it appears most Rohingya in Saudi Arabia are from Bangladesh, here is a post that might be somewhat edifying from March of this year.

Saudi Arabia authorities are closely observing Bangladeshi expatriate workers as some of them were allegedly involved in various criminal offences in the Gulf kingdom, according to a Bangladesh minister.

“At the moment they (Saudis) are not willing to recruit workers from Bangladesh until the crime tendency among Bangladeshi workers goes down,” Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain told reporters at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka yesterday on his return from the Gulf country.

Mosharraf, who led a six-member delegation to Saudi Arabia, said involvement in crimes by a few Bangladeshi workers has damaged the image of the country.

So, here is the bottomline!  We should stay out of their business and out of their civil wars.  Let these RICH Muslim countries take care of their fellow Muslims.   We don’t need to be showing our generosity by importing Muslims rejected by Saudi Arabia! to the US.  In fact, Saudi Arabia should stop pouring so much money into the US for mosque building and instead take care of the suffering of Muslims in Muslim countries!

And, how dare the damn Saudis lecture any other country about human rights abuses.

Rohingya human rights abuse drumbeat is maddening

Update July 21:  Here is a piece that makes my point—check out this Saudi academic talking about how Rohingya children are being grilled naked and alive in Burma by Buddhists.   Meanwhile, we still have no explanation for reports of Rohingya immigrants imprisoned in Saudi Arabia  a country which takes no refugees!  What a bunch of lying sacks….

Readers, I know you might be getting sick of my Rohingya rants, but believe me what is going on in Burma (Myanmar) affects you where ever you are in the US, Europe, Canada, or Australia because the human rights grievance industry is building a case (beating the drum) for the West to take Rohingya refugees.

We weren’t paying attention when the same cabal pushed for the widespread dissemination of Somalis to unsuspecting and unprepared towns and cities, but they are doing it now (again!) with the Rohingya, so we must pay attention.

Of course first they are pressuring the Burmese government to recognize the Rohingya Muslims as a legitimate part of that country’s ethnic makeup. (That is their business not ours!)  If the human rights cadres and their media toadies fail, then get ready for the wholesale movement of Rohingya to the West.

When I first started our category Rohingya Reports almost 5 years ago, I would once in awhile get an alert about the Rohingya and what was happening as they (mostly boatloads of men) tried to gain illegal entry into places like Australia.  Now, the alerts are filled with one story after another of the abuse they are supposedly suffering at the hands of Buddhists.  (Never mind that Muslim Bangladesh doesn’t want them either).

The Washington Post got in on the drumbeat today with a slanted story.

* Remember as you read this that the latest round of violence began when three Rohingya men raped and murdered a young Buddhist girl back in June.  Then Buddhists killed a group of Muslim “pilgrims” (Islamic agitators???) on a bus and Rohingya rioted and burned and pillaged some villages.

* Remember as you read this that the US State Department has removed from its website any reference to Rohingya connections to Islamic extremists.

* Remember that we stalled for years (fearing the extremist element) in admitting Rohingya “refugees” to the US, but at the recent (May 1) State Department meeting, several NGOs said we need to be bringing more to the US.

So here is the WaPo today:

Every story in my alerts is now like this one—the majority Buddhists are bad, Rohingya minority are abused.

BANGKOK — Communal violence is grinding on in western Myanmar six weeks after the government declared a state of emergency there, and Muslim Rohingyas are increasingly being hit with targeted attacks that have included killings, rape and physical abuse, Amnesty International said Friday.

A government spokesman for coastal Rakhine state, which was engulfed by a wave of bloody unrest in June, called the allegations groundless and biased. Amnesty’s claims are “totally opposite of what is happening on the ground,” spokesman Win Myaing said, adding that the region was calm.

[….]

Amnesty accused both security forces and ethnic Rakhine Buddhists of carrying out new attacks against Rohingyas, who are seen as foreigners by the ethnic majority and denied citizenship by the government because it considers them illegal settlers from neighboring Bangladesh.

No mention of what started the latest round of violence.  Both sides have equal damage, but who cares about the facts!  The Rohingya are being abused according to Amnesty.

After a series of isolated killings starting in late May that left victims on both sides, bloody skirmishes quickly spread across much of Myanmar’s coastal Rakhine state. The government declared a state of emergency June 10, deploying troops to quell the unrest and protect both mosques and monasteries. Authorities said at least 78 people were killed and thousands of homes were burned down or destroyed — with damages roughly split evenly between Buddhists and Muslims.

The worst of the violence subsided late last month, but communal violence has ground on. Now, Amnesty said, it is mostly being directed at the Rohingya population.

Here then is one bit of this article that should make us all pause and wonder what is the truth.

Win Myaing said security forces have arrested at least 100 Muslims in the northern Rakhine state town of Maungdaw, but he said the arrests were not discriminatory. Muslims account for more than 95 percent of the population in the town, he said, and it is natural they would comprise most of the arrests there.

The town is 95% Muslim, could the 5% who are not Muslims be persecuting the 95%?  I doubt it.

No matter!  Let’s send them millions (of your tax dollars) in aid!

Also Friday, the new U.S. Ambassador to Myanmar announced a donation of $3 million in food aid to northern areas of the country affected by fighting between government troops and ethnic militias.
