Rohingya hold demonstration to demand “right” to resettlement

Muslim Rohingya displaced persons in Malaysia demonstrated today at the office of the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) to demand their “right,” as they call it, to be resettled in first world countries.    We have an entire category on Rohingya and have been chronicling for a long time their obviously well-orchestrated strategy to get out of Southeast Asia and to be resettled in your neighborhood.

Read one of my earliest posts on the Rohingya here, then come back to this in The Sail.

Today (12/3) morning 10am (Malaysiam local time), UNHCR recognized Burmese Rohingya refugees about 1000 from various areas (including women and children), had approached for peaceful assembly in front of UNHCR office to submit a memorandum to UNHCR office in Malaysia. But some who had arrived early and separated groups were forced to leave from near UNHCR area, and the others were not allowed to involved in peaceful assembly. Then, one of the bus with sixty refugees from five buses was forced to drive throughly to Brick-field Police station KL. But, they have gotten good coverage by some medias following to police station.

Read on and check out the photos.

Demonstrators presented the UNHCR with a list of demands that included the following:

We, on behalf of Burmese Rohingya refugees in Malaysia, would like to express our firm stand to ensure the basic and fundamental rights of Rohingya refugees in order to find permanent solution to their long standing problem.

“Permanent solution” or “durable solution” are UN-speak for third country resettlement.  If you go back and read our entire Rohingya category you will see the UN has been trying all sorts of possible solutions including third country resettlement.  They have obviously not satisfied the Rohingya.

I suppose from the Rohingya point of view they look at the US and notice that we are letting in Somali Muslims, Iraqi Muslims, Russian Muslims and figure it isn’t fair if they too can’t get in.

But here is a solution to make it all fair.  We could take Robert Spencer’s (and a whole lot of other people’s suggestion) and stop all Muslim immigration to America.  Here is Robert Spencer yesterday at Frontpage Magazine.

End Muslim immigration into the United States, as a simple matter of national security. Immigration policy must work toward the integration of all immigrants, but the all-encompassing societal program of Sharia makes integration of pious, serious, informed Muslims ultimately impossible. While there is no doubt that there are many millions of Muslims who have no interest in jihad either by violence or stealth, no Islamic authorities anywhere in the world have declared heretical or in any way unacceptable the idea that unbelievers must be fought against by various means and subjugated under the rule of Islamic law. Unless and until that begins to happen, no one can be sure of the sentiments of any individual believer. Consequently, simply to protect ourselves, there should be an end to Muslim immigration, combined with a clear notice to Muslims in the United States that any action on behalf of Sharia supremacism is unacceptable.

Sounds like a plan to me.  I wonder where Miss Hillary stands on the issue of Muslim Rohingya in your neighborhood?  I betcha Ken Bacon at Refugees International is already lobbying her on it.

Government grants available for Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh

Your tax dollars:

All you NGO’s hurry on over to the State Department and get in line for grants available for Rohingya Muslim refugees in Bangladesh.   Yes, I know the theory—poverty breeds terrorism, so we are going to send American tax dollars to BANGLADESH!   What are we thinking!     Next thing you know we will be resettling Rohingya Islamists in a town near you.   See our whole category on Rohingya here.

Refugees continue to pile into Bangladesh, no jobs, go west young man…

……or east!

Note to readers:  You might want to read my previous post on Rohingya before reading this one.

Apparently the UNHCR has started another program to help refugees flowing into Bangladesh find a useful livelihood.    This article in Naranjara* discusses so-called urban refugees.   I suspect many of these are Rohingya (Burmese Muslims).

Dhaka: UNHCR officials in Bangladesh met with urban refugees in Dhaka on Thursday to explain their plans for programs for urban refugees in Bangladesh.

UNHCR Protection Officer Jelvas Musau told the urban refugees about the agency’s future plans, including a training program, and invited the urban refugees to apply for the training.

Refugee attendees complained, what’s the use in being trained, there are no jobs in Bangladesh anyway.

Previously the UN had given them cash up front to start businesses.  I guess you can figure out how well that succeeded.

Many urban refugees are suffering from a shortage of livelihood opportunities in Bangladesh. The UNHCR also had implemented a program for refugees called the “Lump-sum” program, whereby urban refugees were given seed money to set up businesses in rural areas of Bangladesh.

However, most of the refugee projects failed. Afterwards, refugees were unwilling to undertake business plans in Bangladesh.

Perhaps this is the explanation for why new undocumented refugees are showing up in Rohingya camps.

Bangladesh has been building camps for refugees to manage the resettlement process, and 500 Burmese Muslim refugees have been given the opportunity to resettle in Canada and Australia, but the urban refugees in Bangladesh are not included in this quota.

Yet!

*Naranjara according to its webpage:

Narinjara News (NN) was founded by a group of Arakanese in exile in Bangladesh from Burma in 2001 seeking to voice for the people depriving of human and democratic rights and to pave the way for them who are struggling for those rights.

Rohingya demonstrate how to get into western countries

Update:  This article says 500 are going to Canada and Australia.

Here is an article that gives a blueprint for how refugees end up in the West.  In this case it is the Burmese Muslims, the Rohingya, who have the strategy down and know what they need to do.  Stay put, live in misery, have loads of babies, make trouble for the locals,  and countries like Canada (with a push from the UN) will rescue them.

The Rohingya, like many other ethnic minorities in Myanmar (Burma), a mostly Buddhist nation, were given a tough time (we won’t deny that) and consequently began spreading out throughout southeast Asia.   A large number are now in camps in Bangladesh, where they are not wanted—busy producing ever larger families according to this report.

The UN did initially try to persuade the Rohingya to return to Myanmar, but now that is not going to happen.

The long-standing Rohingya issue is unlikely to be resolved in near future as Myanmar is not responding to Bangladesh’s appeal to take the refugees back and they also don’t want to go home.

The entire repatriation process is stalled for over three years and the United Nations High Commissioners for Refugees (UNHCR) is urging the Bangladesh government not to send the Myanmar citizens back.

“They had fled from Myanmar due to persecution related matters. So now they don’t want to go back. The UNCHR also doesn’t want to force them,” says a high UNHCR official.

The whole matter is very critical, the official adds asking not to be identified.

Some who were repatriated have returned to camps.  No one (officially) really knows who the “unregistered” are.

Allegations are rife many refugees who were repatriated over the years came back crossing the border and are now living with the local community as unregistered Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban and Chittagong.

And, no one knows who is coming in and out of camps, but tensions are building with the local Bangladeshis.

Local people from Teknaf and Cox’s Bazar say Rohingyas indulge in theft, robbery and different other social crimes, though they are not allowed to leave camps without permission.

In the last few lines of this Daily Star article we learn why the Rohingya persist in the camps.  The UN has managed to convince Canada to take 78 of them so they are all holding out and putting on a major public relations campaign to be resettled in first world countries.   This campaign has extended to the US, as we have been reporting in our category Rohingya Reports.

Speaking anonymously, an RRRC (Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner) official says the Rohingyas are much interested to stay in Bangladesh as UNHCR sent some of them to Western countries.

“So far they have sent 78 Rohingyas to Canada. So the rest are much interested to stay here as they might have chances to fly abroad,” the official adds.

For readers who have not heard about the Rohingya, check out this wikipedia article and our Rohingya Reports category mentioned above.

As hard as it might sound, the bottomline is that we can’t save the world.

Indian author includes Rohingya groups in list of terror organizations in Bangladesh

I admit right up front that this article is way over my head.   I know India is plagued by Islamists and is experiencing horrific terrorist attacks— that’s about all I know.  Readers with some knowledge of the region may get more from it than I do.

I’m posting it here to continue to build our archive on Rohingyas who have a very organized campaign to seek resettlement in the west, specifically Europe, Canada and the US.

Author Maloy Krishna Dhar in “The Fulcrum of Eastern Evil….” contending that the source of Indian terrorism is in Bangladesh, says the following:

While the Jamait-e-Islami was revived by Zia-ur-Rahman, its student wing and former Ansar and Badr loyalists rallied around Islamic Chhatra Shibir (student group) with deep connectivity with Islamic Students Organisation of Pakistan and the International Islamic Students Federation. However, proliferation in Islamist jihadi Tanzeems was intensified after the CIA [Ed: I don’t get his CIA role], ISI, DGFI jointly recruited over 30,000 Bengali and about 5000 Rohingya (Arakanese Muslims) for the Afghan jihad, They were flown or shipped to Pakistan and were trained in ISI managed camps in Peshawar, Quetta, Chaman and later in certain mujahideen run training facilities inside Afghanistan. It may be noted that most of these Bengali recruits were attached to the Hizb-e-Islami group of Gulbuddin Hikmetyar, an ISI stooge, close to General Zia-ul-Haq.

About 8000 remnants of the highly trained Bengali jihadis returned to Bangladesh around 1989-90 along with unaccounted number of Arab Al Qaeda fighters. Bangladesh government headed by Begum Zia denied existence of Al Qaeda members in Bangladesh, but maintained mysterious silence about the Afghan veterans. On return from Pakistan, some even from Bosnia, Kosovo and far off Chechnya, these jihadis fanned out to interior districts and gradually started establishing shop in the form of masjids and madrasas.

There are about 32 listed Islamist terrorist groups in Bangladesh.

……

The main Bangladesh based Tanzeems are: Jamait-e-Islami (JeI), Islami Chhatra Shibir, Islami Oikyo Jote (IOJ), Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HUJI), The Jihad Movement of Bangladesh, Arakan Rohingya National Organisation (ARNO), Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) Jagrato Muslim Janata (JMJ), Hijbut Tehrir, Allhar Dal (Party of Allah), Jamait ul Mujahideen Balgladesh (Bangla Bhai),
Shahadat-i-Alam-al-Hiqma, Tablighi Jammat Bangladesh, Ahl-e-Hadis Movement (Hadith) Bangladesh and Sadhin Bangla Islamic Front etc.
