For the latest news on “faith-based groups” lucrative grants for Unaccompanied Minors’ care, see the Conservative Tree House/The last refuge

‘Sundance’ at the Conservative Tree House blog has been doing great research on the federal grants for the illegal alien children.  Thanks to several of our readers for sending a post from Sunday and another one from yesterday.

What a relief to know that so many bloggers and now ‘real’ reporters too! are catching on to the raid on the federal treasury by groups completely unaccountable to US taxpayers and pretending to do their ‘good-works’ entirely out of Christian charity (Hey, do you think Glen Beck has finally figured it out?).

Just a reminder: The “children” coming to a town near you are mostly teenaged boys! http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/06/23/Goodlatte-Unaccompanied-Minor-Surge-Could-Get-Worse-If-Obama-Reduces-Enforcement-Further-in-August

From Sundance’ on Sunday:

Using information within the TAGGS system for Health and Human Services we are able to identify the recipients for Grants specifically designated for “Unaccompanied Alien Children”, or UAC’s.

With that data, a few more search tools, some time and a little more research, we are able to identify the locations of facilities throughout the country where the HHS grants are being directed and the UAC’s are being transferred/housed.   There are essentially two broad types:  Residence Care, and Transitional to Foster Care Services.

From the FY 2014 HHS Grants we can identify the communities where direct HHS UAC funds have been sent.    We can identify the specific facility, or the organization supporting the foster care placement.  If you live in, or close to, one of the listed cities below, the UAC’s transfers are already in your community.

Go to the website for more and to see the list, click here.

Then yesterday they focused on one of the “big three” they had previously identified (here).

A Texas Media outlet has just caught on to something we discovered and have shared with you.  Previously we identified the BIG THREE large non-profit corporations getting massive grants from DHS and HHS.   These were the “faith based groups” President Obama met in Dallas 7/9/14.

They are, listed smallest to largest:

      • #3  Bronze –   U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and/or, U.S. Catholic Charities $70,000,000+
      • #2  Silver – Southwest Key Programs Inc  $122,000,000+
      • #1  Gold –  Baptist Child and Family Services Emergency Management Division (BCFS-EMD) $270,000,000+

Today we focus on one.  “Southwest Key Programs Inc”….

There is more, read on.

Secrecy and unaccountability is the problem!

I know some will argue that these “charities” can do a better job then if federal agencies were completely in charge, but that’s debatable.  For me, the problem is the secrecy in their operations and the total lack of accountability by these groups pretending to be private non-profits driven only by a religious charity motive and not accountable to any elected officials.  As I have said before, just try doing a Freedom of Information Act request for one of these arms of government—yes, that is what they are.  They will then hide behind their ‘private non-profit’ shield!

And, I don’t know about this Baptist bunch, but I can assure you that the other federal refugee resettlement contractors*** are always lobbying Congress for more refugees, for amnesty, and for more money (and these Leftists use your money to do their lobbying!!!).

***The contractors (we may have to start adding grant recipient big dogs Baptist Children and Family Services and Southwest Key Programs to our list):

Two ‘musts’ for today! Learn more about the ‘Baptist’ big dogs and see NumbersUSA’s map

Kevin Dinnin (lower left), CEO of probably the largest federal contractor resettling the Central American teens to your towns at the Dallas meeting with Obama and Perry.

Update July 21st:  Judy points us to Clarice Feldman at the American Thinker picking up the story about “faith-based” contractors making out like bandits on the backs of taxpayers.  What a relief to know that more and more Americans are getting the message.

Readers, please read this incredibly thorough post by ‘sundance’ at The Last Refuge about Obama’s meeting in Dallas with “faith-based” groups.  Especially learn more about Kevin Dinnin (we told you about him here and here), CEO of Baptist Children and Family Services.    Hat tip: Judy.  LOL! I think we are on the same track (see my post just a few minutes ago, here).

And, then be sure to see NumbersUSA’s fantastic interactive map on where “the children” are being sent.  If you learn of a new grant and new destination for the ‘unaccompanied minors’ be sure to tell Numbers!

See all of our posts, extending back several years, on the ‘unaccompanied minors’ invasion of America and the resettlement contractors getting their piece of the pie.  I admit that when I heard the Office of Refugee Resettlement representative talking about the coming “children’s” migration in June 2013 at a meeting in Pennsylvania, here, I had no idea it was going to be this big (but I think they knew!).

Also, I think the US Conference of Catholic Bishops may have fueled the fire (that was already smoldering) when they visited Central America in 2013, here.  Other than on issues of marriage and abortion, the Bishops are as far Left as Obama!

Baptists caring for illegal aliens in Texas and beyond: Doing well by doing good!

Hey, Glen Beck, they don’t need your money!  This is big business!

Update July 16th:  It is all about the money, turns out these Baptists had a plan to buy a hotel for the kids (bet it was an inside deal!) which came and went today as the media got wind of it, hereMore here on how much BCFS is getting from HHS this year!

This one line in a recent news item on the ‘unaccompanied alien children’ (aka fake refugees) swamping the Rio Grande area of Texas caught my eye (emphasis is mine):

From Dec 2012 to January 2014, Baptist Child & Family Services received $62,111,126 in federal grants from Health & Human Services for “Unaccompanied Alien Children Program.”

BCFS President and CEO, Kevin Dinnin, pulls down a cool $400,000 plus in salary and benefits from a “related organization.”

Baptist Child & Family Services (BCFS) is new to me (it’s not one of our usual nine, and in fact it may be bigger budget-wise than a number of the federal contractors we are familiar with).

And, then last night Glen Beck on O’Reilly said he was taking nearly $2 million in charitable donations to Texas on Saturday for the “children” because the “churches” needed helpsurely not this group of Baptists or various branches of Catholic Charities in Texas because they are rolling in federal dough (your tax dollars at work)!

Expanding nationwide!

Check out Baptist Child and Family Services (BCFS) which sent out a press release (undated) that says it is expanding nationwide to provide living facilities and other services for the “unaccompanied foreign youth” through grants from the Office of Refugee Resettlement (in HHS):

BCFS, a global health and human services organization headquartered in Texas, today announced the expansion of its International Children’s Services program to serve unaccompanied foreign youth throughout the country. The new offices, located in New York, NY; Miami, FL; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Sacramento-area, CA; and Los Angeles-area, CA, will serve as regional hubs for BCFS’ new family support and evaluation programs.

BCFS will lead these programs as part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) strategic plan to provide safe and stable homes for international youth who are granted permission to stay with family or sponsors already living in the country.

[….]

BCFS’ International Children’s Services has provided care through the federal ORR program since 2007. In addition to the new family support and evaluation program, BCFS operates unaccompanied youth campuses throughout Texas and California. These residential facilities provide shelter, counseling, case management and education to youth while the federal government determines the appropriate next steps toward reconnecting them with their families.

Ahhhhh!  Wait until you see their most recent Form 990 (they will soon have the US Conference of Catholic Bishops beat with the amount of money they get from you!).

See page 9 of their 2012 Form 990, that is where the federal grants are located (they used to be on page one).

Their total revenue that year was $67,325,953, and $63,321,669 came from the federal government in the form of grants.  That is 94% of their entire revenue is tax payer money.

Hey, Glen Beck, do you get it!  They don’t need your charitable donations when they are effectively a branch of the US government, but as a phony non-profit they are not accountable to the taxpayers (try doing a FOIA request and see how far you get!)

And, then it really gets fun.  Have a look at the salaries these “humanitarians” are pulling down.  It sure pays to be a do-gooder these days!

Total salaries and wages for 2012 topped $33 million for that one year!  (p. 10)  And, now get this they have seven staff members making 6-figure salaries.  President and CEO Kevin Dinnin makes $447,799 in salary and benefits from a related organization, possibly BCFS EMD.

If you are wondering why we aren’t simply shipping them back—there is obviously big money to be made in the illegal alien care industry.

Makes me want to barf!
